I witnessed something at this King Soopers today that left me genuinely upset and questioning the store's humanity. A man walked in with no shirt on and a hospital wristband, clearly not in a normal state. He wasn't stealing. He wasn't causing a scene. He was standing at self‑checkout with one pint of ice cream and a bag of chips, trying to pay for them. He was a little hard to understand when he spoke, but he wasn't aggressive or threatening anyone. Instead of offering help or even basic compassion, the manager immediately called the police. And within seconds, officers arrived, put him in handcuffs, and arrested him right there in front of everyone. I even offered to pay for his food, and the staff were rude to me for trying to help. When I asked why he was being arrested, the manager claimed he was "threatening them," which simply wasn't true. I was standing right there. He wasn't threatening anyone. He was confused, hungry, and clearly in some kind of crisis. This was a moment where a mental health crisis team should have been called -- not armed officers. Denver literally has the STAR program for situations exactly like this. Instead, this store chose punishment over compassion. What I saw was a vulnerable person being treated like a criminal because he didn't fit the mold of a "normal shopper." It was heartbreaking and completely unnecessary. No one deserves to be handcuffed for being hungry, confused, or recently discharged from a hospital. King Soopers needs to train their staff on how to handle mental health situations with empathy instead of fear. What happened today was wrong, and I hope this review brings some awareness to it. read more

Okay, I don't shop here regularly but it's on the way and way back from a lot of places on my route for me so sometimes I do stop here to run in for very specific items. It's a massive store and I get the same feeling that I get when going into the Newark train station. You're just like dropping into a weird time warp going back in time with brands that seem to reference an older decade. However their holiday aisle seems to be like 5x larger than their other stores which is fun - I guess to stock nostalgia brands. It also reminds me of going to the grocery store on Long Island, NY with my grandparents for some reason! It's just a hardcore VIBE that is like - of the PAST. It's very interesting. It kind of also feels like I'm going to Home Depot with the way the parking is like a weird non-garage garage type of situation. read more

This may be listed as one of the worst grocery stores in Colorado, but depending on time of day, and regardless of clientele loitering about, this business does a good job despite the economy, high prices everywhere and location. Staff puts up with a lot. It is a bastion of hope and relief from the food deserts nearby. Grocery stores are a necessity. Stop complaining, suck it up and spend your money. Employee KeKe goes above and beyond to cook delicious meals. She is kind & extremely helpful. Jonny is the meat department goes above & beyond his job description just as KeKe does. Mac is great too. Having filthy customers service workers when paying for groceries is disgusting & they are rude. Mac is helpful to all customers Your rent-a-cop security is rude to paying customers. Many people complain about Greg's uncooked chicken he fries it so on the outside it looks cooked & inside is pink. I realized today that I've been ordering groceries for pickup this whole year from this location. It has been so incredibly convenient and helpful. I just put my order into the King Soopers website or phone app, schedule my pickup, park in a numbered spot.. And outcome my groceries. They load them into my trunk, take any coupons that I have and it's all done and about 5 minutes. Amazing. Occasionally, I get produce that isn't as ripe as I would like or isn't what I would have selected, but that doesn't outweigh the convenience and ease of picking up this way. Gave a 1 bc a 0 wasn't possible. Took 5:30 hrs to get my prescription that was sent mid day the day before fille. Employees don't care about people with disabilities or customers needing their meds., as their solution to being busy is to tell customers "you can come get it tomorrow" instead of time management. I went to the pharmacy at noon. Only one prescription was filled. I was rudely told (by tech with terrible tattooed eyebrows) that despite having a fill date of the 16th (the day I was there) that I needed to call in the morning for them to fill it and I could come back anytime after 4. I have never had to call in advance and was able to pick up a differed Rx that was submitted by the same Dr. at the same time. Then she told me "you can come get it tomorrow". To which I replied "I mean I need it today". 0 regard was given to my need, my transportation or financial hardship was not considered bc she needed 4 extra hours to fill 1 rx. I ubered back home and at 4:00 I took the second Uber ride to get that second script. At around 4:15 I was told it wasn't ready and would take a few minutes. When I replied with "so much for anytime after 4" bc they had over 24 hrs to fill. I requested it at 12 and 4 hrs later it still wasn't done. I told them I had a flight to catch in an hour. Their solution was to fill my Rx AN HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER. When I asked if they could just tell me if I should have it sent to another pharmacy I was screamed at by her little buddy. I missed my light. It's a controlled substance so I can't just transfer it. If they had filled it the other pharmacy wouldn't fill a second one. It was imperative that if they did not have the capacity to satisfy my request I needed to know asap due to deadlines/timeline of my Dr., other pharmacy, and needing to Uber. I stood there for 1:15hr and watched as I was continued to be pushed back. I think they were trying to wait me out in spite. I was forced to reschedule my flight - as if the loss of wages and paying for a second Uber wasn't enough. I am autistic which makes it very difficult to be in crowded places that are loud. That is why my doctor try's his hardest to make sure I optimize my time at the store and can pick up more than 1 script at a time. Not only was that not presented as a possibility they made it impossible for me to maintain routine/scheduling. The woman with the terribly done tattoo eyebrows rude when asked to do her job. Her little friend is equally incompetent. I truly hope they don't make more than minimum wage bc the quality of service I received was beyond sub par. I work as a consultant specifically in process improvement, automation, and optimization. I charge $300 an hour and I lost over 2 hrs of work for this. It ruined my day so I couldn't do anything the rest of the night. I'm also going to lose time tomorrow for unanticipated travel. If you or anyone you know has a disability, I strongly suggest not supporting this business. If you are an ally you shouldn't support this business. Instead give your business to a company that done not fall under their parent company (see list below) and give it to a privately held pharmacy or really anyone else. If this was the first time I was met with rudeness when I am at first bubbly and apologetic that I didn't call in the am to make sure my meds that had a fill date of that day were filled then it would be a different story. I had a problem yesterday with the transfer of a prescription, and Matt, one of K S P pharmacy assistants, went beyond the call of duty to help me straighten it out with multiple phone calls to get my Rx on the right track. Being from out of state I really appreciated the extra effort that he made on my behalf. I've done curbside pickup at a few different King Soopers locations, but this is my favorite. It's now my preferred grocery store. They always send me notice of substitutions before I arrive so I can approve/reject. My order is always ready as scheduled. Staff seem organized and always wear masks. They use paper bags, not plastic, which is more recyclable. They even took them back for reuse (though maybe not currently). In olden times, pre-pandemic, this location always had good bargains and a nice cheese selection for browsing. It's been remodeled and looks nice. read more

With a remodel, higher quality lighting, more healthy and modern food selection, and the addition of much needed staff, this place could be tolerable and their high prices might be justified. For now, it's just a cash cow for Kroger that corporate seems to have zero interest in investing in. It's in no way a flagship or ambassador for that brand. I hope they will upgrade or graciously bow out of the game and stop taking up precious real estate. On the upside, the pharmacy seems organized and polite. And the hours are appreciated as are the handful of vegan options they carry, though more might help their clientele stay healthy and have less need for their pharmacy. I first heard of this location from a soft ass dude who told me he would never shop here. I guess he's more of a Whole Foods type! Yeah, this location is a little sketchy and you probably should be careful at night. I've never had a problem but I get some crazy 80s vibes when I walk in here, it feels so dated. There's always weird sh*t going on here, like they are always rearranging the store and sometimes entire aisles are completely empty. Ample covered parking. This is a smaller urban store that attracts everything urban. Getting into the store is a guaranteed walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke from the employees or shoppers sitting by the front smoking. It's an older store but it seems fairly clean. The employees aren't the most friendly, but I think this is because of the location and the bs they have to put up with. When you go out of your way to be friendly they may be friendly back. It's convenient to have this within walking distance from my house but if Trader Joe's was a smidgen closer I'd do all my shopping there. read more

While this is not my first selection of grocery store to go to, I come here for dinner shopping after work since it's somewhat close to where I live and work. They did just go through a renovation, and I can tell that it's a lot cleaner and refreshed. I dig it. Dare I say I may switch from Queen Soopers to this location? Dare I say? No, I'm not that convinced. The deli section gets the job done. They have a large selection of fancy cheese, so feel free to try whatever floats your cheese fancy. I dig the pre-packed fresh sandwich meat and cheese selection so that I don't have to talk to anyone. Because it's 2020. I shouldn't have to talk to anyone, am I right? The produce selection can be give or take. I don't think that this location pays much attention as they should to the fruits and vegetables. Some days, it's great. On other days, I opt for the frozen equivalents instead. Frozen veggies have nutrients too! Prices are reasonable (I tend to think that Soopers is cheaper than Safeway for a lot of things, but it could just be me). Don't even get me started on Whole Foods. There is covered parking that always seems to be busy. It's not as sketchy as some people on here claim. Get over yourselves. This store gets the job done and I can cook dinner for myself. Do not, under any circumstance, go to the deli in this Kings. The older man that works behind the counter is quite possibly one of the most miserable people I've ever encountered. Never mind the half hour wait, this person will give you the wrong items, and proceed to blame it on you, and refuse service/try to remedy the situation. I would never recommend shopping at this location. Today 6:40 pm the head Clerk Will was very aggressive with me and tried to keep me trapped in the store. He also scratched me by trying to snatch a receipt from out of my hand after his cashier handed me the receipt. I asked him to stay out of my personal space and he kept inching closer. He was definitely abusing his power as head clerk today. I have never had suck an ugly experience at a Kroger store. I even called the authorities. I am very upset and embarrassed by him calling me a thief while screaming at the the top of his lungs. He also yelled for security. I have never been so embarrassed and frightened. This is probably the worst King Soopers I have ever visited. Yes, it is the scary one that seems almost underground, as the parking is covered. There are ALWAYS strange people hanging out in the parking lot, and in front of the store smoking. This store is dirty, has some nice employees, but overall, it needs some major cleaning! I have always ended up talking to some interesting characters while here, but only stop here to grab a few quick items when I am in a rush. I swear I will never return after each visit, but the convenience factor brings me back. Once I am in the parking lot, and have to smell all the smokers at the entrance, I regret it instantly, but hurry in to get the few items I managed to forget somewhere else. I went to this location tonight, 1/11 at about 7:15 PM MST as I usually do. This is my local king Soopers and one of my go-to's when I am accepting instacart deliveries to shop/deliver. Before grabbing food I decided to sit down and use the bathroom real quick. Seconds after I sat down I was verbally berated, degraded by a team member at this king Soopers, and told to leave the restroom immediately. I asked why/tried to explain I'm just trying to use the bathroom. The team member repeatedly shouted at me accusing me of smoking fentanyl, drug use, cursing at me, etc. I tried over and over to explain I'm not doing drugs and simply trying to use the bathroom. Moments later he returned with security guards ordering me to leave the bathroom immediately. I was forced to get up and leave in the middle of a bowel movement!!!! Once I exited the bathroom the security guards took a look at me and realized that I was not some homeless drug addict smoking in the bathroom. They apologized to me shortly afterward, but I have never felt so humiliated / degraded / made a fool of / and upset in public. I cannot believe my local kings Soopers would treat me or ANYONE with such disrespect. I'm disgusted with the behavior by the security guards as well as whoever barged into bathroom tonight. I can assure you without a doubt I am never coming to this store again as long as I live. Nothing screams "we have no idea how to run our store" more than yelling at random people and forcing them to leave, hoping it sticks. I hope the manager feels ashamed about this stores actions tonight and I will be telling of/complaining to just about anyone at Kroger and here in Denver about how you treat people. read more

I tried their online ordering and delivery platform yesterday. I wish I hadn't. The website listed several items as out of stock that I have never seen out of stock at this location. Figuring I'd do without those items until next grocery run, I continued. The online platform requires registration with a third party App, Instacart (not mentioned until you go to check out). Not a huge deal, since I've used Instacart in the past with ease, but updates to the app made it almost unusable. And high error rates ultimately led me to abandon Instacart. Unfortunately, the downward trajectory of Instacart was continued by King Soopers. Over $20 worth of groceries were missing from my delivery. It wasn't easy to find where to report this on the King Soopers website. When I reached out to a live chat agent, the agent, after spending 5 minutes to review my receipt and the items missing, offered me a $20 store credit... as a solution to missing over $20 plus tax, not to mention a $10 delivery fee I paid and would now still need to go to a store to buy the missing items. I mentioned the missing groceries were more than $20 and was offered $25 in store credit. Before I could respond or agree to that offer, the agent disconnected from live chat. I waited for 27 minutes to be reconnected to someone in live chat only to be serviced by the same agent. By this time, I had decided store credit was not acceptable, since I don't plan on returning to King Soopers any time soon, so I asked for my card to be refunded. Thankfully, the agent was able to oblige. All told, it took about an hour to find and contact customer service and receive a promise of a refund for items that were paid for but not delivered. And I still had to go to Safeway to buy the things King Soopers lost. The wait time and eventual response from the same agent suggest to me that the company has decided not to invest in digital customer service for their digital services. Bad online platform, inaccurate inventory systems, poor customer service. Do yourself a favor and order online from a different company. read more

4 stars for the renovation efforts, including a new organic product aisle and bulk bins. 3 stars for never having any shopping carts, at any time of the day. No carts in the store or in the parking lot. There are also always expired goods at the store every time I shop here. You really have to check the dates before you buy anything. Rule of thumb, if it's on sale, it likely expired. Today is 11/11 and I accidentally picked up eggs that expired on HALLOWEEN. The cashier was surprised that I didn't want them. It never fails the one item that I forget to check is always expired. I don't understand how this is an active practice that they put expired goods on sale. read more

Is this the King of all King Soopers? What a dream! I'm a patron of the KS on Corona. No offense, Queen Soopers, because you're super close to me and I'm pretty loyal, but this other location is bigger, cleaner, and more organized. So if I'm driving by and need something, I will definitely stop. Parking can still be frustrating - I think there's an illusion of fewer spots because of the garage format - but that's the only downer I've encountered so far. There's a great selection of basic veggies and I feel pleasantly overwhelmed by the deli, where I can get lost for at least 20 minutes looking at all the cheese offerings. Note: pass up the generic Emergen-C in the pharmacy. There's a reason it's like half the price of the premium stuff. Ew. read more

That's right - I don't trust you, Speer store. You seem to attract a lot of rude, angry customers who yell at each other in the aisles (or just yell at someone else over the phone). Your layout is also different than most KS, so it takes me a while to find what I'm looking for. Finally, your checkers (even at the self-service station) are frequently rude. Homey Soopers! Since moving to the area I have done most of my shopping at King Soopers. I like keeping it in the Kroger family... This KS is not nearly as fun as Queen Soopers over in my old "hood"...but it does give one some visual entertainment. The store is large, generally well stocked, close to home and has lots of self-checkout!!! my favorite thing. Downsides are that the deli area is ony so-so...I have tried to buy quick ready-to-eat food a time or two and nothing ever looks tasty and the clientele can be challenging at times. I am always NOT surprised that the ambulance or police are responding to a "situation". We keep saying we are going to go back to shopping at the "Queen" but its just so damned easy to walk to the store so I guess we are now Homeys too... read more

I love the pick up option but the store on Speer in Denver is such a mess! You wait at least 20min before someone comes, once no one came after I called the number and I had to go inside to get it myself!! They took at least $12 worth of coupons and never scanned it..my items had missing items, wrong items, items I didn't order and spoiled produce! The substitution are a joke! Instead of 4 avocados I got 1 and spoiled already!!?? There were no substitution for apples and almond milk!? Not all King Soopers stores are equal. I'm here to tell you this one is one of the upper standouts. Not only is the store *amply* stocked with many many things you can't find in "standard" King Soopers, but the specialty areas, especially the sushi bar, are just mindboggling. Really? A sushi area that called itself a "sushi bar" in KS? Yes, indeedy -- and not just the sad tiny little tuna rolls or California roll. I walked away with a Sushi Dragon Roll that was huge and the equivalent of an above-average sushi restaurant, among other esoteric items today. Their deli shames the size of deli areas at similar grocery stores -- so much tasty prepared stuff, a lot better variety than other places I've been to. Their produce section is pretty big and nicely stocked (cherries in December? really? *chomp* don't mind if I do...) On top of all this, they do something that apparently most other grocery stores have either forgotten to do, or brushed aside in the interests of saving money: offering samples. Covered sample dish in front of the sushi area -- I swung by thrice O:) -- and well-stocked after the tray got below half full. Spicy Cali roll, *big chunks with good ingredients, not just that peach-colored fake crab paste you usually see. yums. That sushi chef there takes pride in his work, I chatted with him for a min or 2. The fancy fromage area had no less than 4 types of presumably un-cheap international cheeses diced up, with toothpicks. I think the deli had some, too. You could seriously make a light meal at this place roaming up and down the aisles -- I certainly did. To the people who gripe about this place, let me give you a wake-up call: go to the dinky King Soopers store at 100th and Wadsworth. In fact, go a few times. It's a standard KS -- definitely nothing standout about it, and some eyebrow-raising questions about aisle/item organization will pop to mind. Then come back to this store, and be grateful. I didn't see any issues with transients whatsoever when I was at the Speer store at 11:30am on a Saturday, and of course the well-armed and *blatantly* visible brick-wall-lookin security guard probably dissuades that... read more
