I wasn't sure what the other one was in the corner but it didn't look interesting (I think sandwiches). I did wish they had something Asian like a ramen spot or even a pho spot but nothing. We ordered a breakfast sandwich called the Thunderbird at Call Your Mother. It was about $11. It was made fresh and it was super duper hot that we waited for a bit for it to be warm in order to eat it. The egg was fluffy, the sausage was filling and the cheese was melty. The only complaint I had was it was a little too sweet for me. It has honey and I guess I should have asked if it could be on the side. It really needed the hot sauce and it made it better. The other item we ordered was a ham and cheese croissant at Izzio Bakery. I think that's what it's called. They heated it up for me and it was about $8 after tax and tip. It was so good warmed up. The cheese was gooey and it was the right amount of salty goodness. The hubs and I kinda fought for the last bite. Would definitely would like to try other items from there next time we are in town. We would return but wished there was a noodle spot and it would make it so much better.

I'm a professional cook so I am constantly putting together great foods. The first thing I noticed were the high prices. A mediocre foot long "italian sub" wrapped on a styrofoam tray was 14 dollar, dang, I really wanted one but refused to cough up the cash. Walking through the meat isle, I noticed a big difference between regular stores and this one. Leevers meats are neatly trimmed for appearance and nicely presented but wow! The prices made me leave the store. In todays world I have to constantly be aware of the abuse in ''truth in labeling" knowing full well that the buzz words in foods often mean nothing and if they mean nothing then one just may be over paying for something they could buy for a lesser price some place else. It's literally impossible for me to justify paying 24 dollars a pound at Leevers when I could pay 14 dollars a pound else where, I mean, where's the justification? Where's my assurance that anything I purchase at Leevers is of high quality in any way...sorry...I have justified trust issues.

I always find this location of NG clean. The employees are courteous and friendly. The parking has never been an issue as the lot has ample room for cars. With that said, it's a bit surprising to see the 3.5 star rating as of mid August of 2024. Today I found a delicious and delightful sparkling water. Zero calories, no added sugar but is so refreshing and flavorful. The 12oz cans were $1.98 (each). Not bad. I mostly get produce when I go to NG just like any other day, They always have the freshest veggies and fruits. The quality is something I can always count on. I also get water (refill.) Per gallon price for members (doesn't cost to become one) is $0.29 which is the lowest out of all the other grocery chains. Thanks for being around to provide us with our daily necessities.

(One day I waited for over 40 minutes just to check out.) Admittedly, most of my friends already made it clear I was crazy for continuing to frequent this store, but I feel pretty damn strongly about supporting the only grocery store in this neighborhood, so I persisted. Nevertheless, it became clear that the Safeway corporation was not respecting these employees by appropriately staffing the store, and I decided I would stop going entirely. Fast forward a few months, and the Safeway employees went on strike. I was pretty encouraged, supported the effort, and hoped for the best. After things were resolved, I decided to give the store a shot again, and pretty quickly it became clear that staffing the registers was still not a priority. Admittedly, I really don't understand how Safeway thinks this is a profitable maneuver--in order to spend money, consumers need to be able to check out. And guess what, if you're buying more than a few items, a self-checkout is not workable. But apparently this is the corporate game. I do want to give a shoutout to the stalwart employees who have persisted despite these tribulations. I'm always happy when I see Terri at the register or Bryan at the meat counter. Employees like them make all the difference here. I just wish they had better support.

The whole area is bustling with families, tourists, locals, and more, making for a super lively weekend vibe. This market isn't huge, but definitely packs a punch. There are probably 20-30 vendors onsite with some gorgeous goods, ranging from farm fresh eggs, flowers, herbs, nut butters, and the prettiest produce you ever did see. They even had a gentleman there playing live music for the crowd--a nice touch. There's not much shade 'round these parts of downtown, but luckily this market is RIGHT next to Union station if you'd like to cool off, grab a bloody mary, whatever. As with most farmers markets, most of the vendors are cash only, so make sure to hit the ATM before you arrive!
