Got one of the lunch specials. General Tso's Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup. Average portion for the lunch menu price. Tasted good but the public area was filthy and had piles of garbage. Not the way a business should be run. I didn't get food poisoning so maybe the cooking area is cleaner. Online ordering was very easy. I wish I had realized the combination pineapple chicken had an egg roll with it. I ended up with 3 egg rolls and ordered a shrimp egg roll on top of it. The beef egg foo young wasn't as tender as I'd hoped, but it wasn't greasy & the gravy was tasty, also without being greasy. The same beef was in the beef & broccoli and my mom wasn't happy with her pineapple chicken. The chicken pieces were overcooked, leaving shredded bits between her teeth. Really wanted to like this place, as it is minutes from home. My order was ready sooo fast - walked in, ordered, she said, "ten minutes." That is just about what it took. My large order of beef lo mein was so over cooked. The noodles broke apart when twisted around my fork. Soft and mushy with no "bite" to the noodle. Beef, with mushrooms and snow peas was just OK, the beef was tender, some pieces of it quite stringy. The order of fried chicken wings were OK, nothing to rave about. Iget the same order from every Chinese food place. - Shrimp Mei Fun, Crab ragoons and an egg roll. Shrimp Mei fun - the noodles were well cooked but there was not alot of shrimp or flavor at all. It was like it was cooked without any soy sauce. Once I added my own, it helped tremendously. Crab ragoons - these were made using my favorite fold for crab ragoons. Making them little pockets with 4 points. These were unlike any I've ever had though, they use a very thin wrapping which gives it an amazing crunch and let's the cream cheese be the focus of the bite. The problem is, again, there was no flavor. It was like they took plain cream cheese and put it in the wrapping. No onion powder, crab, scallions, nothing. It even looks like plain cream cheese. Shame that the filling isn't better because these could have been awesome with that wrapping! And the sauce that came with it wasn't traditional sweet and sour sauce, it had a little spice to it, very weird. Egg roll was solid. Whereas the Prince Express is when I only have 10 mins to listen to the whole Purple Rain album so I stick to When Doves Cry and Darling Nikki (obvi). I've become really picky about Chinese restaurants ever since I've been eating in Chinatown NYC, Flushing, Boston, and at Peking Quick One, the home style menu at Gin Gin, Crystal, China King (Maple) and so on. But even if I hadn't, this wouldn't be my fave Chinese place. It was right next to my work for awhile so I had it a couple times more than I wished to. The Shrimp Curry, which is usually my go to dish, wasn't good. The Crab Rangoon is nice. The General Tso is ok (but after the one at Peking Quick One... hard to love it anywhere else), but the last time I ate here (Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Curry) I got so sick afterwards that I haven't returned since then. Since discovering King Express last Christmas Eve, it has become our favorite Chinese takeout spot. We order on the DoorDash app for pickup, which is so easy and convenient. King Express is in a strip mall plaza with ample parking. It is mostly for takeout, but they do have a couple booths to eat in. Our food is usually ready to pickup in a half hour or less. When we open it up at home, it is still pretty hot. And it is all fresh and DELICIOUS! I am vegetarian and my daughter is vegan, and we LOVE the tofu garlic sauce dishes at King Express, definitely our favorite takeout tofu. It is not a crispy tofu. It is big hunks of soft and spongy tofu that is swimming with vegetables in delicious sauce. The garlic sauce here is divine! It is creamier than other garlic sauces I've had, not a watery sauce. This is a thick and rich sauce that generously coats the ample serving sizes they give you here. One order of their tofu is more than enough for one person, really plenty for two people. It is a FULL container of tofu and veggies with rice packed in a different container on the side. This is not like some places that give you a single container that contains both the rice and the entrée. No, this is A LOT of food for a great price! The tofu dishes are still just $10.50 each, with most places creeping near or upwards of $15 a dish nowadays. And it is so good that I usually order a few different kinds of tofu dishes to have leftovers. It keeps very well in the fridge for a few days, the flavors soak up more! We love the tofu and broccoli in garlic sauce, and the tofu and mushrooms in garlic sauce. To mix it up a bit, the bean curd and vegetables in black bean sauce is also a very tasty sauce too. For the omni eaters in our family, my husband hasn't had a dish he doesn't like at King Express either. He's tried various chicken, pork and beef dishes, and all are flavorful and abundant, as well. Our picky-eater-son who is also omni always goes with the sweet and sour chicken, as he likes to call Chinese chicken nuggets, and has no complaints either. I ordered from Kings Express through Yelp last week for my family and I. I arrived early and it was already ready! Everything was still very hot when I got back home. I ordered beef and broccoli for myself and fried wontons. From the picture I saw from the menu it looked like the wontons were just wontons and it didn't have a description so I thought they would be plain but they came with some type of meat inside. If you are craving for a quick takeout/American style Chinese food, I would recommend King Express. I have tried their Garlic chicken and it's pretty good although I wish they would add more chicken in the dish because the ratio of veges is meat is not balanced. I love their wonton soup and I think their broth taste really delicious. Their fried chicken wings is pretty worth it, they are regular deep fried chicken wings. They are cheap ($8 and you can 8 of 'em). Their sweet and sour chicken and chicken lo mein is pretty good although their lo mein can be sometimes a little bland but you can always add your own seasonings to it. Their fried wontons are a little oily but they fix my cravings every time. The staff is really friendly on the phone and in person. I like going there when I was some cheap Chinese food and I usually have leftovers because their portions are little big for me. They are located on Evans street beside the Lime House area. There are two or three tables there if you want to eat your food there. Just a small seating area and nothing really special. I'm giving it 3 stars because I don't think their food is the best of the best but I'd recommend trying their food. It's regular but good regular. read more

King Express is easily my most convenient option for Chinese food, and it has served me well. I never feel as though my food is too bland, or if I got overly ripped off. King Express definitely gets the job done. Although there is a place to sit, this is not a place where you want to wait (or dine in). King Express emphasizes the "express" in that you call, you pick up your order, you go home, you enjoy. There is a delivery option if you're within a nearby radius. I have never taken advantage of delivery, so I can't attest to that, but I can tell you that pickup has always been prompt and professional. I have never had to wait, which is probably good since there's nowhere to wait, not really. I have had good luck with the beef and broccoli, and the general tso's chicken, among other things. Those seem to be the most consistent options for me. What I can certainly attest to is that the more traditionally boring dishes, such as chicken and mixed vegetables, don't taste particularly boring. If you live nearby, you may have received a menu in the mail, and that menu has a bunch of coupons that can get you a decent deal and a ton of food. While King Express certainly isn't the best Chinese food in the area, it's certainly better than other places, and will get the job done when all you want is a quick order of sweet and sour chicken, or whatever strikes you in the moment. read more

I am so mad right now, all I can do is shake my head at why I wasted my time (yet again) with this place. Since my last update of how long King Express can take to deliver food, I decided to give them a second chance. While they have been somewhat speedy during lunchtime (I typically order from them once a week or so), tonight I had to WAIT CLOSE TO TWO HOURS for my food order, is just too much. I placed my food order at 4:35 p.m. and got an email from Yelp Eat24 saying it was confirmed at 4:39 p.m. I'm no stranger to the 45-60 minute ETA and figured even if they were a few minutes late, I would still have time to dip out of the house around 5:50 p.m. and pick up my children from daycare. Well 5:50 p.m. came and went. When I called to inquire about my food order the first time, I spoke to a young woman there who said "The drive is on his way." When I informed her about my needing to leave the house, her response was, "Yeah, you can leave now. I don't think he'll be there in 10 minutes." Okay ... By the time I picked up my 2-1/2- and 1-1/2-year-old tots, drove back to the house, got them unbundled from the weather, and ready for the dinner we still had to wait for, it was close to 6:05 p.m. I called a second time and was told by a guy that my Yelp order didn't go through and that "The drive will be there in 10 minutes." News to me, especially since the gal I spoke to 15 minutes prior never mentioned that. I ended up calling again to follow up on my order at 6:16 p.m., 6:20 p.m., and 6:27 p.m. Mind you, I placed the order and got the Yelp email it was confirmed at 4:39 p.m. While the man I spoke to those extra four times on the phone was nice -- and did use the occasional "I'm sorry" -- this is just unacceptable on all levels. My food finally arrived at 6:32 p.m., and guess what? It's a bit on the cold side. I ordered from King Express a couple of days ago and was a frequent customer. ... Definitely not anymore. This place delivers! Literally and figuratively. During a recent snowstorm, a craving for Chinese food hit me hard. I called my go-to spot, Wok and Roll, but they told me they definitively did not deliver. I needed someplace that could deliver, and I wasn't feeling up to paying all the extra food app charges. I decided to take a chance on King Express, which opened just last year. They answered the phone right away and told me cheerfully they could absolutely deliver - even in a snowstorm. The food showed up astoundingly fast, considering the weather. In about 40 minutes from the time I called. The food satisfied the craving. The sweet and sour chicken, lo Mein and egg rolls were all delicious. The egg drop soup and wonton soup, however, were disappointing. Not as tasty as some I've had. But overall, for the convenience of delivery (only a $2 service charge), fast service and Chinese food that hits the mark, this place wins. read more

... well ... Yelp still doesn't have the option to give negative stars. A group I was with decided to order Chinese, and guess what restaurant was close?! Yup! You guessed it ... so, I decided to give them another shot. Seeing it was delivery this time, I figured they wouldn't remember me ;) I ordered a shrimp roll and the mixed vegetable lunch special. Oh. My. God.... when the food arrived, it was clearly still frying in the grease because my shrimp roll literally was sitting in at LEAST 2 tablespoons of grease, in the bag. My mixed vegetables were also still frying - you can see the sauce and the grease separating ... disgusted is an understatement. Somewhere, there was a breakdown in communication. I was exhausted and wanted to order in dinner from a place we had never tried before. I ordered via Yelp Eat 24 which provided a confirmation email, an estimated delivery time (45-60 minutes) and a big red button to click to check the status of your order. After the order failed to show up at the 45 minute mark, I clicked to check the status only to get an error message. After the 60 minute mark, I contacted Yelp Eat 24's Chat Support where it took them 7 minutes to respond to me. So I called their Support only to talk to someone who did not know where my order was. They eventually said the restaurant needed another 10-15 minutes. 21 minutes later, the food arrived - practically 30 minutes late. We had ordered a stir fry pork and mushrooms - it was fine - more like char sui pork and mushrooms. And a beef and onions dish which would have been very tasty if the dish was warm. Overall, the food quality was fine for a Westernized Chinese take-out. It's hard to think about food quality when you're ravenously pounding down a late dinner! Tonight's order was a severe disappointment. The food tasted just "wrong". I called them immediately, concerned yet polite, and I was told that they are now making this traditional dish differently and that if I don't like it, don't order this menu item anymore. What? Many of the reviews for this place (both positive and negative) are a bit suspect, so I felt compelled to write a more detailed review. We got their menu in our mailbox yesterday and decided to give it a try because there was a coupon for free wonton soup with an order of $20 or more. To start with the free soup - five stuffed wontons in the soup. I've paid for wonton soup and gotten fewer. A few others noted the crab rangoon as a high point, and it definitely is. My wife always orders crab rangoon, and this place has her favorite, hands down. Thin and crispy wrappers, a good amount of spot-on filling. I had a sweet and sour chicken combo plate - tasted slightly crisper/fresher than some others I've had, the egg roll was above average, and the fried rice had a lot of pork and flavor. My wife got the orange chicken. Their rendition has nice chunks of orange peel as well as hot peppers. It has more kick than most versions, but it was very tasty. This is, for all intents and purposes. a standard Chinese takeout restaurant. When we want cheap and easy Chinese food this is going to be our new go-to. read more

However, I ordered over $50 worth of food one week, and they forgot the egg rolls for the lunches, then came back this week after using their online ordering system and even after getting confirmation to my phone, they did not receive the order. In a suburban sea of strip-malls and every one of them containing a Chinese take-out place I find "King Express" to be pretty much in the middle of the pack. The service is friendly and the place looks clean and the prices are fair. I think the two things that distinguish it from many of the other places is that they offer combination platters all day long (not just at lunch time)... and they deliver (with a $10 minimum and a $1 delivery fee). Two of us had a combination platter each and we shared a quart of wonton soup. The soup was better than most with hot and tasty broth and 10 (!!!) wontons in the quart (yup...I counted 'em). The platters were served with roast pork fried rice and and egg roll. The egg rolls were amazing, but I found the rice to be a bit lack-luster. It was simply rice fried with bits of pork... no onions or other veggies, no egg, no pizzazz. My chicken chow mein was fresh and tasty with lots of white chicken slices and crunchy celery and onions. My boyfriend's General Tso's chicken was more sweet than spicy, but it, too, was a generous serving of nice, white chicken breast. And for $6.95 for each of the platters...plus another $2.50 for the soup.... it was filling, tasty, and budget friendly (with enough food left over for lunch the next day). read more
