Shrimp Mei Fun and crab ragoons
Lauren S.

I ordered takeout so I can't comment on the restaurant or cleanliness. My food was ready 15 minutes after I ordered and the prices were reasonable. Iget the same order from every Chinese food place. - Shrimp Mei Fun, Crab ragoons and an egg roll. Shrimp Mei fun - the noodles were well cooked but there was not alot of shrimp or flavor at all. It was like it was cooked without any soy sauce. Once I added my own, it helped tremendously. Crab ragoons - these were made using my favorite fold for crab ragoons. Making them little pockets with 4 points. These were unlike any I've ever had though, they use a very thin wrapping which gives it an amazing crunch and let's the cream cheese be the focus of the bite. The problem is, again, there was no flavor. It was like they took plain cream cheese and put it in the wrapping. No onion powder, crab, scallions, nothing. It even looks like plain cream cheese. Shame that the filling isn't better because these could have been awesome with that wrapping! And the sauce that came with it wasn't traditional sweet and sour sauce, it had a little spice to it, very weird. Egg roll was solid. There again wasn't much flavor but more so than the rest of the meal. Overall, it's not going to be my new favorite Chinese spot or anything. Its okay.

I prefer the Queen Express and the Princess Express. Whereas the Prince Express is when I only have 10 mins to listen to the whole Purple Rain album so I stick to When Doves Cry and Darling Nikki (obvi). I've become really picky about Chinese restaurants ever since I've been eating in Chinatown NYC, Flushing, Boston, and at Peking Quick One, the home style menu at Gin Gin, Crystal, China King (Maple) and so on. But even if I hadn't, this wouldn't be my fave Chinese place. It was right next to my work for awhile so I had it a couple times more than I wished to. The Shrimp Curry, which is usually my go to dish, wasn't good. The Crab Rangoon is nice. The General Tso is ok (but after the one at Peking Quick One... hard to love it anywhere else), but the last time I ate here (Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Curry) I got so sick afterwards that I haven't returned since then. (Blurgh) Still, with a few good items on the menu and nothing absolutely awful, I won't give this little family owned place less than 3. Now I have to go because I just saw a girl doing something with a magazine in a hotel lobby.

Working our way through the menu at King Express. This dish was a bit on the bland side. The fresh veggies & thinly sliced tender chicken was a nice light healthy meal.

Takeout pickup of the best Chinese food tofu in the 716! :-D

Since discovering King Express last Christmas Eve, it has become our favorite Chinese takeout spot. We order on the DoorDash app for pickup, which is so easy and convenient. King Express is in a strip mall plaza with ample parking. It is mostly for takeout, but they do have a couple booths to eat in. Our food is usually ready to pickup in a half hour or less. When we open it up at home, it is still pretty hot. And it is all fresh and DELICIOUS! I am vegetarian and my daughter is vegan, and we LOVE the tofu garlic sauce dishes at King Express, definitely our favorite takeout tofu. It is not a crispy tofu. It is big hunks of soft and spongy tofu that is swimming with vegetables in delicious sauce. The garlic sauce here is divine! It is creamier than other garlic sauces I've had, not a watery sauce. This is a thick and rich sauce that generously coats the ample serving sizes they give you here. One order of their tofu is more than enough for one person, really plenty for two people. It is a FULL container of tofu and veggies with rice packed in a different container on the side. This is not like some places that give you a single container that contains both the rice and the entrée. No, this is A LOT of food for a great price! The tofu dishes are still just $10.50 each, with most places creeping near or upwards of $15 a dish nowadays. And it is so good that I usually order a few different kinds of tofu dishes to have leftovers. It keeps very well in the fridge for a few days, the flavors soak up more! We love the tofu and broccoli in garlic sauce, and the tofu and mushrooms in garlic sauce. To mix it up a bit, the bean curd and vegetables in black bean sauce is also a very tasty sauce too. For the omni eaters in our family, my husband hasn't had a dish he doesn't like at King Express either. He's tried various chicken, pork and beef dishes, and all are flavorful and abundant, as well. Our picky-eater-son who is also omni always goes with the sweet and sour chicken, as he likes to call Chinese chicken nuggets, and has no complaints either. I'm so glad we stumbled on King Express late on Christmas Even last year--it is our go-to Chinese food now, and the best Chinese takeout tofu in the 716! :-D

Ok let's see if it's worth the $35

Stormin' Crab offers their blue crabs one of two ways: Either added as a side to any boil (topped with your favorite seasonings), or served as a fried crab basket. The oyster appetizer (sold as six or twelve) can be raw or grilled. I adore them raw, and these are Bluepoints! They were plump, glistening, and had a great sweet and briney flavor. My husband's gumbo was thick with rice and andouille sausage, with baby shrimp. It also had a powerful black pepper kick. Very tasty! The boil arrived on a stainless steel platter in a large plastic bag, ballooned out with steam. We had chosen the butter, medium spicy. I thought the saltiness overpowered the flavor of the seafood, but your mileage may vary. Combo C had so much food we took a third of it home! We really enjoyed our meal here!

We ordered the cajun mix for crawfish and snow crab and garlic butter snow crab. All the boils are doused full of butter flavored oil (not real butter) which didn't allow for any flavor to reach your tongue or the meat. I may be spoiled with real Louisiana and Texas crawfish and seafood boils but the oil was so unpleasant. The crawfish was oily, flavorless, and tasted dirty. The crab was probably presalted and just reheated in the boil. I asked for some cajun seasoning and salt to sprinkle on top but there was just too much oil. I am disappointed with this type of boil and hope I can find a more traditional type with no oil somewhere in Buffalo.

But there's a good mix of other cocktails and beers too. The owner seems really nice, she was working the kitchen along with a couple other family members, good to see, especially since it was all women- love a female owned business that's doing well and doing it right. Chicken tenders were good, not great but I think they're on the menu to placate the kids coming so fair enough. The rest of the food was GREAT. We started with calamari and it was great, came with a lemon dressing already on it which was good and didn't detract from the crispiness at all. Also had lots of battered pepper rings as well, nice balance. Combo seafood basket was solid. The shrimp were great as was the haddock - all battered on site. Fries were thin and crispy. The winner though was the California Grouper sandwich which was a daily special. It was fantastic. I could have eaten two. Came on a soft roll, with slaw and bacon and avocado and I forget what else because I devoured it so quickly. I'd go back just for that sandwich. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're ever out by the lake.

I lived in Dunkirk for several years, but the changes that they have made to the pier and boardwalk are really unbelievable !!!! Shops & restaurants and this gem!! Let me be very clear in saying that there are maybe three tables inside; this is definitely a grab and go restaurant . However there is a huge patio with many many tables even if they are full, which is doubtful, you could certainly grab a spot on the boardwalk nearby . We happened to have a beautiful night and we have an event to go to at SUNY Fredonia so a friend recommended this place . We waited about 15 minutes to place our order. After ordering we enjoyed our drinks out on the patio while we waited for our food. I opted for an alcoholic beverage while my son had a virgin piña colada. Our number was called maybe 15 minutes later and we were served absolute deliciousness. My son ordered the California, which was a delicious crispy fish sandwich while I opted for an Asian chicken wrap. Our food was absolutely delicious. Served just right. The food temperature was perfect and the portions were ample . The service was wonderful. If I ever come upon a beautiful night again in Dunkirk, I will definitely be visiting this place !!!!

The modern, chic decor sets a wonderful ambiance, and the service was immediate and welcoming. The food was spectacular from start to finish. There are specials that change weekly. The interior is decorated with New Orleans memorabilia, medium lit, cozy (not large), with jazz music in the background. Service was attentive and friendly. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

Our reservations were at 6:00pm and we arrived 5 min early and were seated right away. Much to our surprise we were escorted, all the way to what we would call the patio with rattan high top chairs and marble tables, with no more than 5 tables and window bar seating. The restaurant has linen table cloth tables with nice padded chairs which we did not have the pleasure to dine on. We have to say the waiter/bartender was very attentive during our meal. At the end of our meal I stopped at the hostess station and spoke to a manager about our concerns. She advised me I should have said I wanted the dining room, but I explained I had no idea there was an area other than the dining room for dinner to ask for, as I did this over the phone and not online. Normally a restaurant will ask if you are ok with the patio area but that was never asked. When you secure reservations over 2 months prior to an event you would think you would get the main dining room with the linen table cloths and padded chairs. I am not sure what my early reservation got me when again I got rattan chairs at a high top marble table. The manager advised next time I should specify where I want to sit, but I can safely say there will be no next time. This was supposed to be a nice romantic dinner for us, but clearly sitting in the bar/patio area we could have done anywhere.
