While visiting some family who live in the area the adults enjoyed a dinner without the kids and then a stop over to Condrells where we got to act like kids for a little while. Condrells is a great local ice cream shop with table service and a menu with to many options. I really enjoyed the butter pecan and caramel sea salt sunday I ordered. I almost made the mistake of not getting any toppings until, I was corrected. Glad is changed my order to include the homemade whip cream and hot chocolate. We have been going to this place for many years because they have the best hot fudge and whipped cream. My biggest issue is the price. Two hot fudge sundaes for $18? Way overpriced. It's certainly a good treat once in a blue moon, but it's not something I care to spend that much money on often for ice cream. I think the prices should really be re-evaluated. read more

I've heard people rave about the ice cream here, and I finally got the chance to try it this weekend since it was the only ice cream place we could find that was opened past 10pm. I am certainly glad that this is where we were lead to. You can order at the counter or they have table service, so we sat down so that we could take a good look at the menu. Wow, I didn't expect the list to be so extensive. I knew I wanted a sundae, but there were so so many to choose from. I decided on the queen size turtle sundae. Vanilla ice cream, caramel, homemade hot fudge and chopped pecans. It was absolutely delicious and the one scoop sundae was the perfect size. Not sure if I should be happy that I finally tried this place or sad because there goes my summer waistline, I will definitely be back! read more

PSA: Do not go to "king condrell's" in Kenmore NY. The owner and his ignorant daughter don't know how to treat customers. Stopped in yesterday with 3 people to buy candy and ice cream, while looking at the chocolate and ice cream selection I couldn't take a look for 2 minutes without the same employee coming over and baggering me if I was eating there or taking it to go. Politely 5 fucking times I said I was just looking. My friend went to grab a chocolate bar and the chocolate bunnies we're on the edge and one fell off... The worker then walked over and asked if we dropped it by mistake and my friend said he did. Keep in mind we were just calmly walking around looking, the owner then makes his 16 year old employee come out from the back and tell us we have to pay for the bunny. We politely told her it was an accident and we will not be paying for it. He then sent his IGNORANT daughter to the front instead of being a man and coming to do his own dirty work... She was completely ignorant to the fact that we were already purchasing ice cream and going to purchase around $30+ of chocolate. While the other employees were still making our ice cream she told us to pay for the $35 (4inch bunny) or leave... HA we left, not only did they lose about $60 dollars from us but they also made the ice cream for us and we left it, and they have a broken bunny. Poor poor business decisions by these people, and such a coward and childish act by the owner to send his 14 y.o daughter and 16 y.o employee instead of tell me like a man. read more

I've frequented this place quite a bit as I've lived in Kenmore for quite a while. I love the chocolate covered peanut clusters and watermelon slices. The ice cream is also pretty decent, we even purchase chocolate covered strawberries here for Valentines Day. The milkshake was middling. The draw must be the sheer number of flavors rather than quality. 3 stars. But 1 star (or fewer) for customer service. The young woman who waited on us, Laura, was incredibly rude. She took my half of my fiance's order and tried to walk away; he had to call her back to finish his order. She walked away at that point without acknowledging me at all, not taking my order. When she had my fiance's order done, we had to stop her before ringing it up to order my milkshake. While she was making my milkshake, my fiance tasted his. It was vanilla, not the fruit flavor he ordered (I tasted it to confirm.) When we told her, instead of apologizing, she said, "I put seven pumps [of flavoring] in it." I told her maybe it wasn't mixed enough, but it tasted like vanilla. She asked, "So, do you want me to remake it?!" in a pretty rude and incredulous tone. When we said yes, she dumped the shake back into the blender (I don't know, seems a little unsanitary to dump something two people drank from back into the blender) and added flavoring. She clearly either gave us the wrong shake or forgot the flavoring the first time as the shake went from white to bright pink and fruit flavored! I am just very disappointed at how rude the clerk was. It really soured my first (and last, I guess) visit. read more

Had a craving for some good ice cream unfortunately this wasn't it. Ordered a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and a hot fudge sundae also with whipped cream. The milkshake tasted like melting plastic with some fake ( worse than cool whip ) you could tell it was some kind of fake whip cream and I hate saying cream cuz there was no real ingredients in this concoction of heavy dense gross gloppy white foam. I asked for crushed nut and they looked at me like I was an alien. The waitress ask what are crushed nuts is that like whole peanuts OMG. And wanted a cherry we'll needless to say I got whole peanuts and no cherry the vanilla ice cream was lumpy yes I said lumpy , use to go here many years ago when the owners cared about the product they put out it's a shame when owners of businesses give up and just put out what ever garbage they can put in a bowl or a cup and charge a premium price . Please don't waste your money at this business for ice cream or the dollar store decor . So I've heard and read a lot of reviews about this place, and when I went there with my husband, I really wanted us to be friends too. we were kind of in a rush, plus the place was pretty busy with just a few empty table scattered around., So we each got a Sundae to go. The girls behind the counter are super nice, very friendly, and we're very helpful since this was her first time. However I noticed that as they were making our desserts they were pulling out she Tupperware from a deep freezer that was filled to the brim with the toppings. This leads me to believe they must miss produce the toppings beforehand. Because of this, you really don't know how fresh the toppings are . When they were finished, they put them in large Styrofoam cups which was pretty cool. By the time we got home, which is about a five-10 minute drive, everything was still frozen and we were ready to experience King Condrells. Expected the toppings didn't see 100% fresh, everything was acceptable. There was a decent out of ice cream and a decent amount of toppings. We will probably go back, but we Won't be expecting five star ice cream. The next time we will know what we're paying for. read more

Although the selection looks amazing and they do have some pretty awesome sugar cones on display, I decided to go with a classic hot fudge sundae. The hot fudge was just not good. I don't know if it was sort of old or what, and it was definitely not hot. The actual ice cream itself good, but just average. It was my first time and I didn't know what to order because everything on the menu was so very tempting!!! My mom and myself took nearly 10mins to finalize on 2 ice creams. We ordered 'Royal Sampler' & 'Fugn-ana'. When the our orders came in, we were amazed by the quantity!!! They were huge! :).But needless to say, they were tasting just as expected - marvelous! Alas, we couldn't finish the whole thing over there, so fortunately we were able to pack them in containers and took them home. :) I always kept watching this ice-cream store from outside but never went in. I live just 2 blocks away and I kept wondering why it took me so long to go and try! I will definitely go back and again and again and again! Old-fashioned ice cream parlors like this hit a soft spot in me. When I was young, every once-in-a-while, my parents would treat me to Fenton's - an iconic ice cream joint in Oakland (even featured in the Pixar movie "Up"). Sadly, this place burned down and took several years for them to rebuild but Condrell's conjures up similar memories to that place. They offer an extensive menu with nearly 50 different ice cream combos striking fear into the intestines of the lactose-intolerant. Most notable is the homemade whipped cream - so much better than the stuff out of cans. You could spend hours here checking out their different desserts and teas. if you are close to Kenmore NY and are looking for an awesome and I mean awesome ice cream shoppe then look no farther ... 6 pages on their menu of sundaes, ice cream dishes, cones etc with a HUGE variety of flavors of ice cream ... and don't forget the super bowls and of course the kitchen sink .... take your time and read the menu carefully ... the super bowls are incredible but you will need to be hungry and not just an after meal dessert hungry ... unless you don't mind throwing very good ice cream in the trash ... and don't forget to visit the large selection of candies in the candy case. Oh my gosh.... so good! We walked in and it was buy 1 coffee bag get 2 free. Done! We chose random flavors we'd never normally get. They were delicious. We then ordered from the chocolate bar, peanut butter chocolate covered pretzels with sea salt. For ice cream I had grasshopper pie (mint ice cream and oreos) and my husband has a chocolate malt shake. Both were incredible. We seated ourselves and waited a while for some menus and wow way too many options. We placed an order and it took forever to come out... The girl waitressing was about 16 and seemed very out of it. She brought the first ice cream of our order and it was wrong so we sent it back. The rest of our desserts came out about five minutes after another. I wanted to impress my girlfriend back in high school and took her there!! she loved it, and u know what they say back then, " you get more in Kenmore" and I did!! how sweet she was!! or you could go to the Avenue Soda Shop, may not be there anymore, and have a Pigs Dinner, 3 scoops of ice cream in wooden pigs trough with parchment paper under the ice cream! or the "Monster", a plastic gallon jar with a lid, full of 52 different flavors of ice cream with all the different type of topping and sauces to go with it! a small hole in the wall place, clean, with a snack counter and couple of booths and some tables and chairs! both places did a big business!! Condell's was selling 4 tons a month of ice cream, 40 years ago!! every month, month after month, or more!! the owner let that secret out to me one day!! it was Rich's ice cream from buffalo, the truck delivered 3x a week to them! they took the entire truck load each time it came!! the other good place like Condell's was in the City of Tonawanda, called the Sugar Bowl, a couple of brothers and the sister ran the place, wooden booths, a snack counter with a Soda Fountain, and they wore white paper hats like the guys in the air force wear! it was a really good place until urban renewal came to town!! then there was no renewal !! they were German people! lots of ethnic people in buffalo back then, German, Italian, Irish, Polish, Greek, Albanian, Jewish, Lebanese, English, lots of good food and meats in buffalo, like the Broadway Market in the train station on the east side of buffalo, u could get anything there!! buffalo was a wonderful place to live, work and eat in !! buffalo had everything! just name it! if u lived in Kenmore, well u were upper middle class, u had money! nice, real nice homes and a good place to live and go to school! clean, safe, good location, low crime, mostly white, catholic, buffalo was Catholic, the largest congregation in America for over 40 years, at St. Nick's on the east side(Polish)!! the church organ today by which all other church organs are judged is at St. Joe's cathedral in downtown buffalo!! read more
