I grew up down the road from Antoinette's. I've always looked for similar places when not in Lancaster/Depew. This is the closest I've come. The ice cream is really good, and the toppings aren't bad, but aren't the best either. I've come back three times now since my initial visit and will continue to come back for ice cream. The chocolate is far better than Fowler's and Watson's, but not worth the price for just plain chocolate. The sweets made with their chocolate are good and compliment it well, but on its own the chocolate is a little too waxy and lacking flavor. read more

Been going here since I can remember. Great ice cream offerings. My favorite is the hot fudge sundae with coffee ice cream and whipped cream in a bowl. Don't leave without getting some meltaway fudge from the candy section. It is amazing. It is the recipe from Drescher's for those that remember that ice cream parlor/candy store on Fillmore. Don't forget your insulin before you head to this place. You'll get a sugar high just from walking through the front doors! It's an adorable old fashioned shop with a generous seating area. It's loaded with wall to wall cases of in house made ice cream, chocolates, candies, and other treats. They have a full menu, I repeat, they have a full menu of about 5-6 pages of ice cream. We were so blown away that we stared at the menu for a full 5-10 minutes before we could even form an idea of what we wanted. They have table service, and it was fast and friendly. The portions are way larger than we expected and definitely had trouble finishing a two scoop ice cream between two people. The ice cream was made with absolute love, and you could swim in a river of their homemade chocolate sauce, not to mention the candied pecans and peanut butter sauce on top as well. You could taste the care put into each spoonful, and every flavor melded together wonderfully. I can't wait to go back to this place and try some of there chocolates and other candies! read more

Always open late when I need to make a last minute ice cream run. Milkshakes are delicious here. love that I automatically get water when dining in to drink after my ice cream. Who knew ice cream was so drying lol they have a great selection of chocolate too but I've never tried any of it. Excellent staff. read more

Condrell's is great, a throwback ice cream/candy shop with trademark sundaes that've been around forever. Their hot fudge is the best I've ever had -- and let's just say I've had way too much. My family has been known to make the drive from Hamburg for it. read more

This is my favorite ice cream parlor. Lately, I have been getting the strawberry sunday. Real strawberries, not just sauce or some sickeningly sweet jelly topping. Real whipped cream. They take your order at the table and serve you there as well. The staff is friendly and they don't seem to mind my three children so that is a plus. Lovely place and great staff but the chocolate is not great. Went in to buy a few gifts for my co-workers and of course got myself a few pieces of their sponge candy and toffee. Very disappointed. I didn't even finish the candy and I LOVE chocolate. The sponge candy was chewy, almost as if old and the toffee had no taste. I hate writing bad reviews but this was awful. read more

Well, just got back from King Condrell's and I won't be returning! Have been going there for years, but I was treated very poorly today. We placed our order and when they came they had put my hot fudge sauce on my husbands sundae and I got his French chocolate sauce. When we told the waitress she insisted they were correct. I know the difference between the two!!! His was thick and HOT and mine was just a thinner chocolate sauce. She then proceeded to get the owner, who also insisted I was wrong. They argued with me before reluctantly remaking mine (my husband decided to just eat his with the hot fudge instead of the French chocolate sauce). I'm still not sure it was done correctly, but at that point I just wanted to leave! Arguing with a customer when I very politely told them there had been a mistake!! Do they not understand that's bad for customer service?!!! There are too many other places where I can get ice cream to put up with being treated so poorly!! read more

Upon arriving in a dark and scary parking lot deep in the bowels of Kenmore on a Saturday night, we noticed a wild pack local Kenmore teenagers through a large window viciously devouring something.. we wondered what could cause such a ferocious frenzy inside this establishment, so we decided to investigate. Upon entering, the sweet aromas of fudge, chocolate and ice cream overwhelmed our senses and we became woozy. After regaining our focus we set off to the distant oasis we had been promised in the parking lot. After trudging through the herd of wild beasts we had finally made it to the promise land. We noticed a burning bush behind the counter and knew we were in for a wild ride. A bearded man then floated down only to deliver giant stone tablet menus depicting so many flavors, so many choices, could one of these choice be our demise?? Historically this menu has been compared to great works such as Ulysses the Odyssey and War and peace but I felt it read more like something of the likes of Jack Kerouac, open and free.. I decided on the chocolate Royale milkshake which is what they call a chocolate milkshake in England. My partner in crime got a coffee flavored ice cream sundae with the Spanish peanuts ( he requested only the finest northern Spanish peanuts cause everyone knows southern Spanish peanuts suck). We received our orders in a timely fashion and we had finally been able to taste the Nektar of the gods we had so anxiously been waiting for. After exiting this establishment we came under a blaze of hellfire as we crossed the means street of Kenmore only to arrive safely to our Subaru. As we became consumed by the decadence or our treats we we were enlightened and all and all we'd have to say our experience at Condrells candies was pretty lit fam. read more

Went here recently with my 5 year old. Our family went there for years, since I was his age. He loved it. The ice cream isn't homemade anymore but it's still good. Lots of choices on the menu, and a super selection of teas. The only comment I have that might be considered negative is...they need a bigger sign. Its hard to see from the street and even harder if you are walking on the sidewalk. Maybe something that sticks out sideways? read more

I went to this place as a kid, so I want to be able to say that it is great. I've visited again a half dozen times over the past year or so, with parties of various sizes, so my review is based on all of these experiences together. I love the idea of an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. The menu is enormous, with a dizzying array of options. It's great that a place like this still exists. The ice cream products are good, if ordinary. The execution of the business itself, though, seems very backwards and poorly thought out, and that makes for a frustrating customer experience. There's a very cheap vibe. For example, they give each customer a glass of water that couldn't be more than 4 ounces, maximum, and each customer gets one very thin napkin. Once my son spilled the water right in front of the server and we used the two tiny napkins to mop up the very small amount of water, but that did not result in more of either item being brought. The spoons are old and so very thin that I could probably bend them with my mind. The glasses and spoons have probably been in use for 40 years. Really, springing for larger glasses and nicer spoons would go a long way to improve the experience and appearance of the place, for almost no cost. And a few extra ounces of water -- free! After you order, the server goes off and makes one item, brings that to the table, and then returns to make the next item and repeat the process. There are usually other staff just standing around at that time, or flirting with friends, so it would really be nice if they pitched in and everyone's order was made and served at once. When it is time to pay, you have to stand in the same line used for takeout orders, so that process can take quite a while. The servers should really take payment from the table. Why wouldn't they? Then, if you use a credit card, there is no option for adding a tip for your server to the card. If you're going to take credit card payments from customers, that means they may have no cash on them, so you have to be able to add tips. This is not rocket science, there are apps for doing this on a iPhone that could be set up in a few minutes. So, it's nice in theory that a place like this exists, but it's not very customer-friendly and kind of old and dumpy, so I won't really recommend it any longer. read more
