There was a language barrier and we were reduced to asking for water. The nicest person tonight was the guy who changed out our grill. Our most recent trip the complementary iced tea tasted a bit funky but the kofta meatballs were tender and juicy and the spicy rice packed a punch. Always love the complementary pita bread as well.

He stopped at the table before us and checked in on them, skipped us and went to the table after us and checked in on them, and then only on his way back to wherever he was going, he stopped reluctantly and acknowledged us. It definitely made me feel like we were not as welcome as the other tables. Second, I don't like the inclusion of the picanha for the higher price (vs. what they were doing before which was an upcharge if you wanted the steak), because the protein that I like at Casa Pollastro is the chicken. I don't really love their steak and do not want to pay $10pp more for it. Lastly, what I had loved about this restaurant in the past was that it felt like I was enjoying a meal at a family home, served with love and care. I think that they've made some changes which are smart for a restaurant, but it took away a lot of the warm and fuzzies for me. It felt like they're trying really hard to be a high-end restaurant but what I remember from this last experience was coldness and putting profit first. Now I can't be mad if they want to grow up as a restaurant and this is just part of the growing pains, but I will mourn the loss of the experience that we loved so much that we chose to have our engagement party at this restaurant. He kept our table free of used plates, filled water, napkins. Food: 3. No greasy likes most other chinese food places Hot and fresh. Taste just right, not too salty or too plain. The sushi bar has most simple basic selection. The clams is our most favorite one, fresh and not having any sands in it. Front desk service: 1. For a long waiting time during the weekend dinner, there were not enough chairs for customer who were waiting. 45 min waiting and standing, I would not come back for no matter how good is the food. We went in on 4th of July. It's like most other chinese buffets. Wait staff is pretty good about keeping your cups filled and dirty plates taken up. Food is average. They tend to put a ton of rice on their sushi. They have many kitchen staff walking the buffet line and refilling the food constantly. We like to try out crap legs and oyster, but too bad they didn't sever them on Holiday. read more

The food was lukewarm, the squid too chewy, the pasta swimming in sauce. The food was shockingly better than expected. My caprese warm rice bowl was worth the money. The guac and chips I got as a side were a bit stale and mid but nothing bad. My bf got the crunch wraps and noted they were dry and needed sauce, but that chorizo was a good addition. The dining room is a bit dirty, but that's to be expected when the concept is the populace cleaning up after themselves. When we were there, it wasn't crazy dirty, just not pristine. My soda from the soda machine was bad (missing lots of syrup), but I just got a different soda. Overall, it's nothing amazing, but a good more budget friendly option IMO.
