I came here for lunch today after a 10 year hiatus from this gem. I will never wait that long to…read morereturn again, and may come every week going forward. The vegetarian buffet is relatively small, but nutritionally diverse and dense. Dishes today ranged from simple steamed broccoli and carrots to curried cauliflower and multiple legume dishes, to a salad bowl with a wide range of fresh colorful veggies. You will leave full and happy, I fully expect, if you try it too. The little restaurant is housed in a beautiful ornate temple, and has a lovely outdoor courtyard to dine in on pleasant days (I eat inside when it's hot or cold out.) Service is minimal, but attentive by buffet joint standards. Parking is a secure private lot and spaces are plentiful. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but you are fully separated from it if you park in the secure lot. For $15 at lunch, you will likely have your most nutritious meal of your (pick a time period), and get a free drink and desserts. Some items are available for upcharge, but I find them to be unnecessary. The vibe is temple casual and reminds me of hippy establishments I used to frequent in the 70s and 80s. I highly recommend you try it, if you love fresh vegan fare at a bargain price and want to check out the lovely temple and grounds while you're there.

I'm going to post a review and it says this place is permanently closed?? I ate here so recently!…read moreNot sure this is correct. We went for brunch, which I will admit is overpriced. $75pp before drinks? Wow. Definitely go hungry. Were we mad at it though? Definitely not. There was so much to try, I loved the sushi bar, the kids loved the dessert bar, especially the chocolate fountain. The location is nice and upscale and it's a nice place to go celebrate something. I hope it's not actually closed!

Went last night to celebrate my birthday. I've always wanted to go to Komodo ever since I moved to…read moreTexas which was 4 years ago. It was my very first time going to Komodo and the first time experience was not the greatest. Before I go into my review, I did enjoy the ambiance, decor and food. The food was actually really good and the portions were decent. I ordered the wagyu beef dumplings and garlic noodles for starters. I initially chose the Peking duck and was super excited to try it. This is where it started to downhill... As we were ordering starters and drinks, the drinks came out fairly quick and the starters did take about 15-20 minutes which I understand it was a Saturday night. After most of the appetizers came out, we decided to order our entrees because we noticed how long the appetizers took. About hour and some time goes by, the waiter comes back to tell me they just ran out of Peking duck. Which was disappointing so I quickly ordered the Korean fried chicken. The timing with how they ran out the entrees was a whole mess. There were two food runners that were confused with the food orders. 1 of 8 of my friends got their food way before all of us, we had waited an additional 15 minutes before 2 more entrees came out. Oh! My second appetizer (garlic noodles) still haven't come out yet and some of my friends had their entrees....My Korean fried chicken came out but it was fairly quickly so I'm not sure they just threw it in real quick for an apology of taking so long. Two of the breasts we're hard and tough to cut. So then we waited and waited for my very last friend to get her Lo mein...it was an extra 45 minutes until she was able to get her food!!!!! Unacceptable. I was so irritated about that and just ruined the mood. We were all done eating our food by then. We were already frustrated and ready to go at that point, but as soon as she got her food, the veggies were undercooked and it was an overall upsetting situation. I wish I had a better outcome and better celebration for my birthday. I would only recommend this place if you have nothing to do..because you will be waiting for your food for a long time. I suggest to eat before you go and by the time you digest, your food will be ready

Kinda made me feel like I was outside but actually inside with air conditioning. Had the brisket and turkey meal with Mac and Cheese and a side of greens. Everything had so much flavor. I loved every bite. It seems like quite a bit of food for the price. I couldn't finish it all. The meat was perfectly cooked, great rind and juicy. Loved the smoked turkey actually, more than that brisket. Loved the greens! So good. Mac and cheese was average, but I'd definitely eat it again.

We ordered two sets of wings: Buffalo and Dry Rub spicy BBQ. The wings were big in size but honestly, they were overly seasoned. It was too salty, too peppery, and just too bold. I ordered a brisket taco plate which came with two tacos. The brisket was dry and not flavorful. These tacos were dry and definitely needed the green salsa Verde that it came with. This bbq place isn't for me, but I understand there is a cult following for this place.

Truly disappointed!…read more My experience at this restaurant was uncomfortable and disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the visit felt very different from what I would expect at a welcoming restaurant. We were greeted politely at first, but shortly after, two non-Indian customers walked in, and the waitress immediately went over to welcome them and bring them water. We had not been offered water at that point. When she eventually came to our table, she asked if we were ready to order but did not seem fully present or attentive while we were speaking. We then had to ask if we could also get water. When it was brought out, one of the glasses was broken. Later, when we pointed it out and asked for another glass of water, there was no apology or real acknowledgment, which was very disappointing. We had to keep asking for water unlike other non Indian tables. The food itself was mediocre, but the service was what made the experience unacceptable. It felt like we were treated differently compared to other guests, and that is not something I expected or appreciated. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting again.

The entire restaurant was beautiful. The staff are well-dressed and looked very professional. My waiter, Ignacio, was phenomenal, personable yet very professional. The staff all around were top-notch The focaccia with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and it was so delicious. When they presented it, they poured olive oil on the prosciutto and mozzarella and cracked fresh black pepper to my liking. I also had the red dipping sauce, Dip in the Pot, a fresh tomato sauce with roasted garlic, chili, and basil. It was extremely flavorful, a little bit garlic forward, but who doesn't love garlic? I decided not to order any alcohol for the night, but I did get an iced tea, which was very delicious. For my main meal, I ordered the filet mignon with peperonata, peppers and olive oil. The filet mignon was so buttery soft, it almost seemed like it was going to melt in your mouth. It was so good. I also had the black truffle risotto, which was cooked perfectly. It is very savory and had a few chives on it. It was cooked phenomenally, which I believe risotto is hard to cook. I also had to order the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. That dish was phenomenal. The noodles were homemade and cooked to a perfect al dente. The sauce was velvety smooth and had a perfect bit of heat but nothing overwhelming. The flavor was very well balanced. Overall, every detail and aspect of the experience from beginning to end was perfect. You cannot ask for a better experience for dinner.

I didn't have steak. My partner and I shared a caesar salad, bread service, lasagna rollups and the short rib bolognese. The short rib bolognese was good, but not... knock your socks off. And the lasagna was also just good.. but too salty for my liking. The caesar salad was fine. I think the bread was my favorite part. But my partner didn't really care for it. The freezer door martini was also nothing to write home about, and they charged $30 for it. Just get a kettle one martini... actually, if anything, I thought it kind of had a weird taste to it. Maybe the brine was off? All-in-all, I guess I would come back and try some different things, maybe. But what I would absolutely come back for is the views and the bar/cocktail seating area. It was really cute, and the views were the best! Like I said at the beginning-- the service was GREAT. And I have to get credit where credit is due. Thanks for welcoming us, and making us feel at home!

Upon check-in, we were offered a complimentary drink before heading upstairs, where we checked in again and were escorted to our table. The waiting area was beautiful and offered stunning views of downtown. My daughter ordered the 8-ounce filet mignon with a side of macaroni and cheese, while I chose the salmon steak with mashed potatoes. My daughter's steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and she absolutely loved it. My salmon was also excellent and came with a delicious caviar butter sauce that complemented the dish perfectly. For dessert, my daughter ordered the Crown Block Sundae, which came with a variety of toppings. Since it was her birthday, the staff brought it out with sparklers and "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, which was a thoughtful and memorable touch. Our waiter was friendly and courteous, but he wasn't as attentive to our table as he seemed to be with some of the others nearby. One thing to note is that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. After presenting the check, our waiter mentioned that any additional tip would go directly to him. I found that comment a bit unusual, as it could imply that the automatic gratuity is not fully distributed to the service staff. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and it was well worth it for such a special occasion. While the food, atmosphere, and views were excellent, this is definitely a splurge, so be prepared to spend a significant amount if you dine here.

For the…read morecost of this place (almost $100 per person), I expect not only their food to be good but their service as well. Unfortunately, from the get go, we started off on a bad note. We made reservations for Sunday brunch to celebrate my brother-in-laws birthday (he was in from out of town). When we walked in there were a bunch of people seated in the sitting area, some people were standing about the mimosa bar area as well. You have to wait for the elevator to go up so we took a seat while we waited. No one told us that once you check in, you have to stand in line for the elevator. Maybe they said something but it was fairly loud and we may have missed it. When the hostess came around she recognized that we checked in but were not in line - our mistake but we didn't know. All she had to do was direct us to get in line. We didn't need her attitude like she was exasperated with us as if we're children. We get upstairs, get our order in and start our family meal. Everything is going great, we're starting to wind down with some desserts and coffee. My father-in-law isn't a sweets person and was done with his meal. Our server came around with water but he declined since he was done. We recommended that he try a dessert we liked, which he did try. After that he needed water and asked the server for some when she came by with coffee for us. Her comment was, verbatim "I already asked you if you wanted water and you said no." My father-in-law apologized, even though he was not in the wrong here. She realized her mistake because her tone completely changed and she said it's no problem and she got the water. Her comment and reaction caught us so off guard. It ended our meal and celebration on such a sour note. This type of behavior is so off putting anywhere, but especially at an establishment like this. That being said, the food was ok. We all enjoyed the seafood station. The oysters, ceviche, and crab claws were a hit with all of us. Their bread/bagel station with all the toppings was also really good. Loved their juices! The individual dishes were ordered were ok, some better than others. The carving station was ok as well. The desserts surprisingly disappointed. Ambience is nice, view is good. As far as the staff/service goes, the only good thing about was those that were bussing the tables. They were all nice, polite, and friendly. I know this is long winded but the overall service needs to be better. It likely that ours is an isolated experience but it's the only one we have, and probably will have because of how bad it was and how we felt when we left. Everyone deserves respect, if we give it, we expect it back at the very least.
