I tried Komodo in Las Vegas and enjoyed the vibes. So I definitely had to come and visit the Dallas location since this is my city. I can say I am a fan and enjoyed my dining experience more here in Dallas! The ambiance is amazing and just beautiful. The restaurant is sexy, chic, glamorous and very stylish. The colors are rich and vibrant. The cherry blossoms and red accents throughout the dining room and bar area are stunning. Service was great and my waiter Que was pleasant. He was polite and friendly. Food was good, but could be better. I want great food with these prices. The garlic noodles were tasty, but I have had way better garlic noodles. They were missing something. Now three of us ordered the surf and turf rice. This is my favorite dish. The portions of lobster and steak were all different on our plates. Mine had the least and seemed a bit skimpy compared to my friends. We all agreed on this. So the chef needs to do better controlling the portions of lobster and steak. It was still flavorful and delicious. Cocktails are weak in my opinion. Both in Vegas and Dallas. My friends and I also agreed on this. Overall Komodo is a lovely space. Next up I plan to try the Miami location. This restaurant is great for special occasions, date night with friends or your significant other. Went last night to celebrate my birthday. I've always wanted to go to Komodo ever since I moved to Texas which was 4 years ago. It was my very first time going to Komodo and the first time experience was not the greatest. Before I go into my review, I did enjoy the ambiance, decor and food. The food was actually really good and the portions were decent. I ordered the wagyu beef dumplings and garlic noodles for starters. I initially chose the Peking duck and was super excited to try it. This is where it started to downhill... As we were ordering starters and drinks, the drinks came out fairly quick and the starters did take about 15-20 minutes which I understand it was a Saturday night. After most of the appetizers came out, we decided to order our entrees because we noticed how long the appetizers took. About hour and some time goes by, the waiter comes back to tell me they just ran out of Peking duck. Which was disappointing so I quickly ordered the Korean fried chicken. The timing with how they ran out the entrees was a whole mess. There were two food runners that were confused with the food orders. 1 of 8 of my friends got their food way before all of us, we had waited an additional 15 minutes before 2 more entrees came out. Oh! My second appetizer (garlic noodles) still haven't come out yet and some of my friends had their entrees....My Korean fried chicken came out but it was fairly quickly so I'm not sure they just threw it in real quick for an apology of taking so long. Two of the breasts we're hard and tough to cut. So then we waited and waited for my very last friend to get her Lo mein...it was an extra 45 minutes until she was able to get her food!!!!! Unacceptable. I was so irritated about that and just ruined the mood. We were all done eating our food by then. We were already frustrated and ready to go at that point, but as soon as she got her food, the veggies were undercooked and it was an overall upsetting situation. I met up with friends for a quick dinner at Komodo. We had already been to happy hour and gotten drinks and an appetizer so we really just wanted something tasty to eat. The service was really good. Our server was very attentive and consistently checked up on us to make sure we were ok and answer any questions. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. It a great spot for a romantic dinner, the bar area is nice to meet other singles, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. I decided to go with the surf and turf fried rice. If fact, most of my table got the same dish. I'm glad I got that dish. I had so much lobster. My friends were shocked and all said I had a lot of lobster. Me and my girls had the a girls' night here. Everything -- and I mean EVERYTHING -- was delicious. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The bathrooms are a bit of a journey to get to, but they're extremely well kept, so the walk isn't too bad. After around 10pm (I think?) there's an upstairs lounge with a bar, a DJ, and it's a good spot if you want to dance and get a little club vibe in. Talk about the perfect spot- girls' night, date night, solo date... you name it--Komodo fits the bill. I went on a Friday evening for dinner with a few girlfriends, and we will absolutely be back. The bar is a great size and adds to the lively atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel like you're in for a fun night out. The staff was amazing. Every single person who stopped by our table was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They explained dishes, checked in at the right moments, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. Peter and Desiree were our servers for the evening, and they didn't miss a detail. Both had great personalities and struck the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. They seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask, and their timing throughout the meal was spot on. We had the chance to try quite a few menu items, and nothing disappointed. With such a large menu, there's still so much we want to come back and try- and based on what we had, I'm confident we will be in for a treat again! The spicy edamame were some of the best dressed edamame I've had. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection served with lychee sauce on the side that adds a nice balance to the tender steak. 3 of us shared the steak and it was plenty for 3. The pork ribs were sticky sweet with a caramelized glaze but fell off the bone easily. The night club upstairs is an ok space. As someone who is only 33, I still felt like I was one of the few people above 25 in the space. Followed by the Thai shrimp which was Packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I got the brazino with potatoes. I appreciated the food runner describing the dish when he dropped it off at the table, something a lot of places has slipped on, and it makes a huge difference in understanding the components of the dish upon arrival. Service was attentive--our waiter offered good recommendations. We provided our order for all three courses up front, all of which were brought to us at just the right time. For starters, I had the Wagyu steak tacos served in wonton shells--easily my favorite course of the evening. They were very tasty, though I wish there were more than two per order. I also tried the shrimp spring rolls, which came four to an order. Good for sharing, but the filling-to-fried ratio felt a bit off. For my entrée, I had the duck lo mein. The duck itself was flavorful and not overly gamey, but the citrus mixed into the lo mein created an unusual flavor combination that I'm not entirely sold on. Dessert featured yuzu dumplings and mochi. They are fairly small in size making them good to satisfy a sweet tooth but make sure you order more than one if you plan on sharing. And with her kung pao chicken, I've never been served that dish without rice. Weird stuff right?. I did finally receive my appetizer halfway through eating my entree. It was not bad but it tasted like regret for coming here. The desserts were the mochi which was ok and raspberry dumplings which was excellent. Definitely not coming back though. It quickly faded after It took over 10 minutes for us to be greeted by our server or even offered water. I had to wave down a the hostess to ask if our server would be with us shortly. The decor, ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. We were one of the few parties that had reservations at that time so we really got to get a good look at the restaurant and its entirety. The music was nice and it wasn't too loud to where you could still hear as conversations flowed. Our server was John D and he was amazing. My friend is gluten-free and he went above and beyond to ensure she knew the options that were gluten-free, and also went out of his way to get her gluten-free soy sauce, which is rare at some places. That alone made our experience a 10 out of 10. Now what made our experience, a 12 out of 10 was his attentiveness to us, answering our questions, and most importantly the food. Came by because Komodo hosts a sushi master class that people can purchase tickets for. The class was interesting but definitely wished there was more to do since we were only able to make 2 rolls, and those too, were very basic. They lacked any concept of concept of garnishes or intricacy. After the 2 rolls, we were sat for a 3 course omakase. Here, the items were simply alright with nothing to ring home about. Moreover, the service was tiresomely slow. Which is weird, because we'd expect the kitchen to be able to get a head start on making stuff, since the 3 course was chef's selection and all the parties from the class were required to have the same items. Reservation for 4 at 7 pm. Not a lot of people but our waiter started slow. We had order order or food and that came pretty quick. Good flavors but way too much sauce on ribs and some of the dumplings we order. Some of the other dishes we order the flavor were very potent. We order dessert lady brought it but didn't bring us utensils or waiter has not been back for 15 min and the dessert was drop off over 6 min with no utensils. We had some bring water notice we were not eating dessert but didn't think of bringing or asking if we needed anything else (not the waiter) finally we had to ask. Very disappointed. Worst company to deal with. Do NOT have a special event here. Not organized, people got food poisoning (myself included), charged us over at $1000 tip when it was supposed be $100 (as a 20% SERVICE CHARGE was already included). This happened Dec 7th and we still cannot get them to credit for the $1000 overcharge, even though we have provided a copy of the bill to them with the actual amount we intented to pay. If you call Komodo or Groot Hospitality, NO ONE will answer the phone in any of the departments listed. Worst experience ever. read more

My 1st dine-in experience at Komodo on Valentine's Day was lovely. We set reservations a couple weeks in advance, day of we were running late and called to tell the hostess, she was a bit cold about it.. but as we arrived they were nice and we were still able to be seated after maybe 10 mins waiting. It's soo dim in here, perfect for a date night, and they had live renditions of popular songs I like. I loved the vibes! I was with 2 girl friends and we all enjoyed it aside from not being able to see too well lol. The food exceeded our expectations, everything was DELICIOUS! My personal favorite was the surf and turf rice and the lobster dynamite, my girlfriends loved the dumplings. They treated us to complimentary dessert for valentine's day, chocolate covered strawberries and macaroons that were soo good. We'll definitely be back again. read more
