I have just spent 4 days on the phone to customer support with out any resolution. I got stuck on a page on my kindle and tried to get out of it by hitting restart. I have extremely poor vision and hit reset instead of restart. From that point on, I an unable to get it operational. I've talked to 4 people at customer support and have finally given up in frustration. I can't understand why reseting my password is such a problem but my kindle is unusable. I shall omit foul language that I originally was planning to use. Do NOT buy a kindle!! I shall buy another e reader but it won't be a kindle. read more

Unfortunately, we found out the hard way this restaurant does not have many gluten free options. No gf pasta at all and if request to substitute a potato for the pasta that comes with meal- they charge you a "switch out" fee! Good food, but ONLY 8 OUTDOOR BARSTOOLS at a tiny bar on the sidewalk out front. They recently enclosed their large outdoor eating area. My son's vegetarian pasta was amazing. My scallops with pasta were very bland. We were there at 5:30 on a Thursday after Labor Day and the inside was packed and very noisy. I felt lucky we got to eat in the tiny outdoor area. read more

We have dined at Kindle many times over the past several years, but tonight was exceptionally wonderful! First, the martini I ordered was HUGE! It came with a second portion on ice! The BLT salad was delicious, as always. My husband had the Kindle burger, which he has had previously, but tonight, he said it was even better than before. I had the Pan Seared Filet Mignon. It was the most tender steak I have EVER had! You could literally cut it with your fork! I told our server, Maddie, how much I was enjoying my meal - she said she would be sure to tell the chef. Maddie reminded me that most Thursdays they have a steak special- get a complimentary glass of wine with your filet order! Can't wait to come back on a Thursday! Finally made it into Kindle! It is our fifth time trying to get in and it did not disappoint! We arrived at 5pm and did not have a wait. We were greeted by our waitress Chelsea who was very attentive. I really enjoyed the Montasolo Pinot Grigio It had a light sweet and clean aftertaste. My husband had a Dogfish Craft Beer. We both started with the house salads with pecan and cranberries which were very good. I had the Dover scallops over risotto which was so good!! My husband ordered the special Mahi Mahi. He enjoyed it very much. We shared the cheesecake with raspberries. Yummy!! We will be back! Come early! read more

Ordered carry out for dinner. The spiced chicken is well seasoned and roasted, but too salty. The mussels are not fresh so we ended up throwing them away. The crab cake is good, but a bit too expensive for the portion. Overall it's a restaurant worth visiting if you are in Lewes. read more

We've heard so many good things about Kindle over the years. We were excited that over a decade, we finally got to eat here. We decided to eat at the bar and glad we did...because we didn't stay. First, the service was below par. I had to ask for a glass of water....at the bar! The bartenders never returned to ask me if I wanted anything after taking a 2nd drink order for my husband. If you're restocking the bar to the point they were- then it wasn't so busy that two glasses of water was a hard thing to do. Nothing about questions regarding the food, allergies, suggestions, specials. Nothing to even hint that either bartender wanted to up their sales. The wine selection is poor. We got to read some of the bottles of rose when we ordered the flight. You could get a bottle for what they are charging for a glass. The first glass in our flight tasted like cooking wine. The cocktails lack creativity and variety. The beer selection is lacking as well. The food was like the hotel food. This was the most surprising part. The hummus is a joke. You can google a recipe better than this. The seafood and polenta was plated in a pool of sauce that robbed the ingredients from their flavor. Maybe to hide the quality? We looked over at people's plates of tortured scallops, covered with thick sauces and asian noodles forced onto a plate. Walking through the restaurant, it's clear this place appeals to the "meat and potato crowd". It just feels like there's no flame in the passion for the food, service, drinks or overall restaurant. BTW, I later found out this restaurant has changed hands fairly recently. Too bad. read more

Although we were seated right away, no wait staff came over to us. We watched as they just cleaned tables and walked right by us. My husband finally got up and asked for menus and brought them back to the table himself. We sat there almost fifteen minutes. Then they sat a party across from us and a couple minutes later went over to take their order. We got up and left. I still don't know if they ever noticed us. I told the hostess on the way out, but I don't think she cared. There are plenty of good restaurants in Lewes. We don't need to put up with untrained wait staff. read more

I come to Lewes every summer and I love to try new restaurants. I dine alone since I lost my husband to cancer two years ago. There are some places that stick single diners at the worst table in the house and this is one of them. I didn't stay to sample the food since I won't stay at the worst table in the place. We ate at Kindle for the first time tonight and were very pleased with our dinners. The Cannellini Bean appetizer was served with pita bread slices and vegetables. It was a great start to our meal. My husband had the Thurs. special of Filet mignon and I had the chicken, both were delicious and melted in your mouth. We finished the meal with a peach cobbler that was a perfect summer dessert. The waitstaff were also fantastic making for an excellent experience. I highly recommend Kindle! We will definitely be going back! read more

Went out for a special meal and were delighted with Kindle's menu. Many restaurants advertise local, seasonal, and fresh ingredients, but Kindle really delivers. The entrees were imaginatively conceived, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. From cocktails to desserts, everything had original combinations of flavors that we have not found in other restaurants. The ambience was nice, too, quiet enough to talk at normal volume, but a little music in the background to muffle other conversations. I'm looking forward to returning in a different season to see what Kindle has to offer. read more

We went for our first time on a weds night not realizing how popular their 1/2 price burger night was. Regardless we waited the 1/2 hour wait time and so glad we did! No wonder it was packed. The burger was amazing and the French fries equally so. My son ordered steak and literally have never seen a steak this tender! 4 stars for their filet mignon with a glass of wine special for $25.00. The very good pinot would otherwise cost $9.00 per glass and the 8oz. filet was about $27.00 on the regular menu. Plus they let me substitue H.M. fries for the boiled red potatoes - and I must say they were the BEST french fries I have had in a Long time! Perfectly crisp, hot, greaseless....and you could taste the potato itself. Good Idaho spuds. They were served heaping in a cone stand. YUM - 5 stars for those! Other than the beef being too salty it was excellent, tender, and huge. The place was filled with happy locals. Service was fine. We would definitely return. read more

Called to make a reservation for party of 8 as it says on their website that they accept them for parties of 6 or more. At first the guy said he'd be happy to hook us up and asked about time at which I said we are flexible for dinner. Then he said sorry there were two other reservations that night so he could not accommodate. WTH? As a business owner I would much rather take the reservation than to reject customers and create ill will - which is the result from our party of 8 who will not be dining at Kindle any time in the near future. read more

Excellent dinner, even better desert! We cruised town a bit checking out dinner menus and saw some good options at Kindle. We were not disappointed! The soft shell crab and scallops were delicious. The "summer salad" was a disappointment. The vegetables were closer to frozen freezer 101 than the local farmers market special they were advertised as. The reumolade sauce was delicious, my only criticism is the lack of lather, come on Kindle, don't be shy. Ooooh, I almost forgot, you gotta get the Kindle fire fries! We went on Burger night. Even at half price, the food is still overpriced. I wasn't impressed.....Their veggies are so salty you almost can't eat them...and the burger tasted like a frozen patty. With the exception of the roasted cauliflower that was unbearably salty, the food was tasteless. There was a 1 hour wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. I cannot imagine waiting in line to eat here. It was so loud, I couldn't hear my partner next to me talking. I won't be going back to this place. read more

There were more flies in the dining room than delicious meals on the table... It is pretty much my standard complaint with Beach restaurants - with no need to build a customer base, they don't pay attention to the little things that make a restaurant pop. We went for a weeknight dinner - no specials that evening. We were sat immediately, but waited 10 mins for the server to take our drink order. I got a drink with cucumber in it - can't remember the name, but it was terrible. It wasn't refreshing and light as I feel most cucumber drinks are. We waited another 15 for our drinks and to get our food order in and then the REAL wait started... We waited 30 minutes for our food. The whole time being attacked by flies which were every where. Once our meals got there, things went even further downhill... My friend's mom got the risotto which was CRUNCHY. Terrible. I had the burger which just slid off the bun in a soggy mess and my friend had the Bistro Steak and ordered it Medium Rare, but received it at Medium Well. We were all impressed with it when it came out because of the lovely crust on the steak, but realized it was lovely because it had been cooked past her temperature. We did mention the risotto to the server and she said that this was the way it should be... shows her inexperience. Such a sad thing to see such a cute location shell out such mediocrity. read more

I previously ate at Kindle when they were at their old location (in Paynter's Mill). I remember the food being very good. Went there tonight with my mom and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait--on a Tuesday? After Labor Day??? We were given no other option, but asked if we could, instead sit at the bar and order food there. We were told yes, so we sat at the bar and it was at least 10 minutes before the bartender (who was also the hostess who had just told us we could order food at the bar) even spoke to us again, even though she attended several other people at the bar in this time. She then told us we would both have to show her ID in order to eat at the bar. I did not have ID, so she told me I could not eat at the bar, even though I was not planning on ordering an alcoholic beverage and I am 34 (pretty far from 21). Okay, she doesn't make the laws. She suggested that we just wait for a table and now told us that it would be a 20 minute wait--in 10 minutes the wait had somehow magically dropped from 45 minutes to 20 minutes. We didn't want to wait, so my mother asked if we could instead order and eat at the outside seating area they have with a nice fireplace. The hostess/bartender said yes, took our drink orders, and gave us menus. We then waited outside for another 10 minutes. In the meantime, we watched the hostess seat several more people who had just arrived and otherwise completely ignore us. So we left. Not sure if the hostess/bartender ever even noticed. Basically, the quality of the food is irrelevant if you can't get anyone to bother to serve it to you. You would think that in this economy businesses would appreciate their customers more. We were very polite and the hostess completely ignored us--more than once in a single visit. My mother has been to their new location several other times and says the service is always very poor, so we are not planning to eat there again. We ended up going back to Paynter's Mill, to the Kitchen, and were very happy with our food. read more

Have been here at least 10 times and we keep introducing our friends and family to it when they are visiting- one friend from Texas was so impressed with the Lobster Pasta dish that he was trying to figure out how to bring some back with him! It is always hit or miss with how crowded it might be, and because no reservations are taken, you may have to wait, but it's well worth it! The new renovations look amazing and can definitely get some more tables in there and the bar will be able to sit a couple more as well! Cocktails are hand-crafted and the food is always fresh and delicious! The staff....well in a few words - friendly, professional, attentive, passionate about their jobs! Oh boy, we dined here a while ago, this won't be a very detailed review, but I can safely say that among the restaurants in Lewes, this one is very good, it is owned by the Striper Bites people, and is every bit as good. Worst service in years. I left without eating for the first time in my life. Our server clearly hated being there and it showed. The whole vibe was unpleasant. The soup starter was tepid and the wrong wine was poured. (Perhaps some people can't differentiate between chardonnay and Riesling?) In fact, our server got most of the requests wrong and never apologized. When I told the manager, the server flew off the handle and and stomped off. Perhaps a different server would help? As close to perfect as they come. Crab Norfolk to start was just the right amount of butter and sherry served with fresh pita wedges. Ground short rib and chuck marry together for the perfect burger. Beef tenderloin sandwich with a smear of blue cheese and onion jam was outstanding. Could this place get any better? Yep....its dog friendly. I ordered the burger and chocolate dessert cake from Kindle as a to go order. The burger was ok and the dessert was rich. You really can't go wrong with chocolate! But the price I paid for a tiny slice of cake was a bit ridiculous. It was so small, I thought they had given me the flourless by accident instead. I would recommend the burgers if you go on a night when they are discounted. I would probably return to this establishment but I'd skip dessert. read more

I had the scallops dish with crunchy risotto. It was quite good. The dressing on the frisée tasted a tad like grapefruit (bitter) but was still good. I think another dressing may have made the dish 5 star instead of 4 stars. We also had the apple cobbler with salted Carmel ice cream. That was great! read more

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Definitely coming back! I got the chicken and my partner got the salmon. Both meals were better than any similar dish we've had anywhere. The waitress told us everything on the menu is excellent, and although I'm normally skeptical of statements like that, I bet she's right. If you like to sit at the bar chances are you won't get a seat even if you wait on line for 35 minutes. 2 couples ahead of us were able to but then when my wife and I sat down we are told the seats are reserved. 3 seats reserved for 2 older folks and the person who drove them and 2 other seats reserved for an employees parents who were on line behind us. Won't be patronizing Kindle again and I know they could care less. Hopefully the owner will fix this so others don't experience this BS! read more

There tonight based on reviews. Much of the food was MEH. Tried the appetizer cheese plate & meat as I've had things like this before and was always pleased. The meat was like leather and one cheese had almost no taste and the other was too strong. The toppings for them would have been nice had the meat been chewable. My husband had the strip steak dinner & a appetizer crab cake on the side. Everything was tasty esp the sauces for both BUT the steaks are NOT AGED so we might as well have gone to a diner and ordered their leather steak. Crab cakes w/remoulade sauce were very good. For dinner I had the scallops which were VERY tasty as was the risotto cake. Very beautiful plating on this dish. My daughter had the mac n cheese from the kids menu and enjoyed every bite. Desserts: Fudge pie w/ice cream - very rich but very tasty Malted choc crème brulee: very tasty Salted caramel ice cream: very tasty per my daughter Key lime pie: Had it to go - Very tasty Note: Our server was very pleasant and kept on top of things esp for a busy weekend night. We tip very heavily for good service but shorted her tip by the $11 for the meat and cheese tray because she never even appeared interested in taking it off the bill when she could see that we didn't eat any of it AND we told her we didn't care for it.
