And bam! Polish and Korean cuisine decide to make food babies. While doing a gastropub crawl, this was last on our list for the night. It was third dinner of the night, but we were beyond excited to try the foods. It's such a cute little place. It reminds me of what an "outpost" would be. They have counter service with a small booth and a couple counter seats if you want to "eat in". The other option for eating in is ordering at the counter and then taking your number to the bar in the back so you can enjoy some delicious craft beers and cocktails with your food. They have a decent amount of craft beers on tap, which is nice. The food: Maria's Standard - the toast is good, though could use a bit more toasting and butter, the sausage is delicious...and so good Duh Bukk Ski - basically is crunchy rice cake rolls in a mushroom cream sauce (SO SO SO good - I want more and the crunch was unexpected) Ko-Po Wangs - they're not giant, but they're perfectly sauce...maybe a tad overcooked (aka little dry), but the sauce is finger-licking good Kimski Poutine - this works, it just works and the fries are good and seasoned well and topped with more delicious goodness and lots of melty cheese curds Banchan Plate - in most Korean places this is complementary...here's it's going to cost you, but it is good, they have good banchan (it's only 3 items though) TLDR: why have you not made your way to Bridgeport to try this plate yet? But really, Maria's Community Bar is great, as is Kimski's food. read more

This place has some really polarizing reviews, maybe because it varies based on which dishes you get. It is more on the pricey side for an individual dish but I think your best bet is to go in a group of 4 or 5 and split several dishes. My favorite to least favorite: Perogies (everyone really liked this and they're heavy so they're filling), Wings (the flavor was good but wish they were meatier) Scallion pancakes (these were just OK), Poutine (I wanted to love this because it was highly recommended. The flavor was really good and slightly spicy but least favorite because it was impossible to eat the cheese with the fries because the cheese was just one big clump on that top that was really tough to take apart). I'd come back to try their signature sausage. I recommend sitting in the back in the bar first and then getting your food delivered to the table so you don't mind the wait. read more

Oh my goddddd I'm so happy that Kimski exists. They have 1) amazing food, 2) a cool space and 3) the best staff! Plus, they're tucked into a cute little corner of Bridgeport, directly adjacent to Maria's with a really nice back patio area. Parking is plentiful around there too! As for the food, I think I've tried everything on the menu and it's all delicious. I recommend the dukbokki rice balls, the meat potskis and the Maria's Standard. Stay for the late night menu too! read more

I had to Ko Po Wangs which are smoked then fried. They were pretty darn tasty! I like that they'll bring your food to you wherever you're sitting at Maria's next door. I'll go back and try something new next time. read more

Unique mix of flavors, quick service, and beautifully plated food. I don't think we knew what to expect, and would recommend checking out Kimski if you're in Bridgeport. We split several plates among our group: the wings, poutine, bing bong bowl, kapoytka, and pierogis. If I came back, I'd go for the poutine and the pierogis. This was our first time trying pierogis and it wasn't a disappointment. The kapoytka was interesting, but not enough food for the price. The bing bong bowl is a tasty full bowl for those who like pickled veggies. While I like wings, I don't like smoky flavors, so I'd pass on those. read more

I love Maria's for a cocktail. Great craft beer. A very good Old fashion, so I figured I had to try to food now that Kimski is open. What really brought me in is the "Pizza Puff Burger" I saw on Facebook. Pizza Puffs are a relic of my choldhood. I remembered them served in my lunch room. Sometimes golden brown, and sometimes half burnt, the inside an assassin of heat waiting to napalm the taste buds on your tongue. Who didn't love a pizza puff? Well, when pizza puffs are used as buns for a burger, you better try it. It was very good, but very decadent. I had to share with a buddy, cause it was so rich. I am a 200lb guy, so I rarely share things, but I knew I couldn't eat the whole thing. I also plan to live until I'm 70, so I had to ease up. The fries were a great compliment as they were asian inspired with flavors of the orient and I believe a sesame sauce? I dunno, but it was so good. I had a bit of some potato pancakes and their version of a Chicago polish, but it was dressed in yellow mustard and Kimchi. It was delish! Great spot in a great neighborhood. Try 'em out! read more

Yum yum yum! I'm a fan of both Polish and Korean food so I'm glad we finally made it down to Bridgeport to try this place. Great accompaniment to drinks at Maria's. We ordered a Kimski Poutine for the table and it was delicious. My partner ordered scallion pancakes & pierogis (and I tried a little, thought they were both good). I ordered the Bigos, Polish Hunters Stew. I loved it - smoky and warming and spicy but not too spicy. I woke up the next morning thinking about it. read more

Get the pierogis, the poutine, the pork belly bowl, and dressed fries and you'll eat everything I INSIST on eating every time visit! Truly, you could get a few of these things to share, or get two for yourself. That's how I would explain the portion sizes. Plus, you'll want to try a variety because this place is COOL! It's a one of a kind place. Enjoy! read more

Kimski's menu was made for the "few drinks in" crowd I feel (which makes sense since it's connected to a bar and has one itself). They definitely had interesting flavor combos, but everything seemed cheaper and not the best of quality. I tried the pierogis and my friends all got the poutine. Fries were yummy with their sauce, and the onions on the pierogis made hem taste better than average, but I would come back here for the scene over the food. Very nice tiki vibes. read more

I came here on a Thursday night around 8pm with my boyfriend. When we first walked in I thought this was a grab and go restaurant since I only saw a few seats near the window and 2 small tables. However, we were told if you show your ID that you're 21+ you can sit anywhere in the back area, which is Maria's, where there was plenty of seating. We ordered the kopo wangs and the princess perogies. The food came out fairly quickly given there's only one person making the food and taking the orders. The flavoring of the wings was delicious, but I thought they were slightly over fried though. The perogies had a topping that was chives, parsley, and I believe shitake mushrooms. This place is a great place to hang out with a group. Chill environment, good drinks, games, nice outdoor area, and tasty food. There were a few different dishes I want to try still, so that will have to be on my next visit! read more

Went there for Hungarian mushroom soup. When I got there was told they have only 1 left, wow, great. The counter guy repeated the order to me, then repeated it again when I paid. Then I heard him telling the staff something different, thought he was repeating someone else's order. Get home, no Hungarian mushroom soup, something that I didn't even order or want as I am allergic to the ingredients. No phone, so I cannot even call to complain. Check your orders before you leave. read more

Came here with a few friends again and I got the special, bison tacos. Two tiny tacos with barely any bison for $8. The portions are too small but the taste was good, and the ambiance is nice. Come here to snack but don't expect to get full. The poutine portions were noticeably larger. read more

SO much fun and very tasty. Here is how it works since the set-up is a little different: 1) Go snag a table in the back. Get drinks from the bar (you will need to pay cash or open a tab.) No servers coming to take drink orders, so you need to grab them yourself. 2) Take a look at the menu for Kimski (should be on your table) and decide what you want (get everything! In particular our group loved the Scallion Potato Pancakes and Ko Pow beef but everything was good.) 3) Send one member of the group out to the front restaurant area to order/pay. You will pay separately from the bar tab - you pay (and tip) right when you order. 4) Kimski will give you a number. Put it on your table. 5) Order more drinks while waiting for food! (optional, sort of) 6) Kimski will bring out the food as it is ready. It is very casual, in little paper containers. And if you order a lot it won't all come at the same time. 7) Eat, drink, and enjoy! Some of the items are smaller portions than others, so if that is a concern I would suggest asking before you order. (Ex: The Ko Pow sandwich is larger, wangs are smaller.) For us, we wanted to try everything so for two of us we got 5 things! :) If you like hot sauce make sure to try the little hot sauce containers they give you! I thought it was great on the wangs and the bing bong bowl. read more

Brought my electric skateboard group here last night & could not have been more impressed. Servers were very quick to accommodate us & the food/drinks were excellent. Kimski & Maria's have long been a gem of the Bridgeport area. We will definitely be back! read more

Interesting experience, love the concept. Order your food at the counter, follow the foot steps on the floor to the bar, order drinks, find a seat, your food will be brought to you. In our case quite quickly, actually unbelievably quickly. Note that the menus are stacked on the counter, they are quite small and to the point. The attached bar is Maria's and quite a cool space, love the booths. Nice selection of Bourbons, 11th Ward Old Fashioned for $10, quite reasonable for these days. Most of the food portions are quite small which works out nicely for sharing while enjoying drinks. The three of us sampled four food items all of which were quite unique and interesting. The Pork Belly Bowl was my favorite, only three thin slices of meat but wow as I mentioned quite interesting, nice sauce on top, beautiful presentation. Second favorite of the four items we ordered was the Pierogis, fanciest Pierogis I have ever eaten. Not the best I've ever had but "can I say it a again", quite interesting. The Kimski Poutine was good, eat this dish quickly as the melted cheese will solidify if you don't. I liked both meats in the Meat Chae Noodles but did not care for the noodles. With so many interesting items on the menu I'm looking forward to a return visit. Due to the somewhat smaller portions with slightly above average prices I could not justify five stars but I really do like this place and look forward to coming back. read more

I've been meaning to make it to Kimski since the day they opened, and now I can't wait to return. The combination of Korean and Polish palettes creates flavors I feel like the world has been waiting for (or at the very least, I have been waiting for). The melange feels both natural and unexpected, and the dishes do not disappoint. As a vegetarian, there is nothing better than having menu items clearly marked - and Kimski does just this! Their menu states if an item is vegetarian, or if it can be made vegetarian or vegan. Thanks, guys! What really earned the fifth star for me was the exceptional service!! The service at Kimski was wonderful - they made us feel right at home, like VIPs or family. I forgot how great it feels to have that level of friendly service! They told us about the idea behind Kimski, the menu, made recommendations for everyone, let us grab drinks from the bar, and even gave us a free dessert (which ended up being seriously delicious)!! It was a five star experience, hands down. Thanks Kimski! read more

Kimski and Chef Won are doing work! Glad to have another option in Bridgeport that isn't greasy fast food. I was lucky enough to try a preview of some of the food items available here at FOBAB months ago, where I demolished a plate of the kimchi fried rice. I didn't even use utensils, just dove right in. I've been eagerly awaiting the opening of Kimski since then. The chicken wings and the Everything Omelet, which was the special that night, were my favorites. The omelet had a crapload of tasty veggies along with polish sausage. Make sure you order the Standard, their flagship sausage covered in soju mustard and sauerkraut kimchi. It's on some kind of soft roll that is killer. It is an inspired fusion and I'm glad to work near it and visit often. Check on insty what the special, go there and eat, then get lit AF off the Fernet on tap in the bar area. The staff is super friendly and hardworking and the ambience/space fits their personality to a t. Would be awesome if they opened for lunch someday. Get working on that Kimski! read more

Maria's + grillz + cheapz (relatively, our maybe cause i live in DC) and well sourced foods... is mere shadow to their excellent service.

We ordered Kimski as delivery and the food was quite good. I loved the princess pierogis were very tasty! The kopo wangs were good, saucy and had a bit of a kick to them. We enjoyed the pork belly bowl, and I loved jow the rice was mushy to soak up the spicy sauce. Also, we tried a peach beer that was very refreshing! read more

Korean/Polish fusion is food I never knew I needed in my life. Kimski is an absolute gem attached to legendary Maria's Packaged Goods. Order some drinks at Maria's, play board games, and people-watch then order food at Kimski - highly recommend the vegetarian poutine. This will be our new routine pre-Sox games, and that's saying a lot as the food at Comiskey is amazing. read more

Hell hath no fury like a hungry woman. Before arriving at Kimski, I had prepared by fasting for a 36 hour period. My friend and I had planned to go one week earlier from tonight but things fell through which only made this night more important. Upon arrival, I saw the small yet delightful looking menu and asked my friend if she would be down with ordering one of everything and sharing. The woman at the counter was not so down with this idea. Had it not been for the champagne cocktail I mixed for myself whilst waiting for my ride, I would not have been able to contain the fury that raged within when told I was not eligible to order the entire menu. Just because my last name doesn't end in a 'ski,' doesn't mean I don't know EXACTLY WHAT I'M DOING. To the woman's credit, she very thoughtfully recommended dishes to us; the first being the potato salad special. Kimski, you did not miss anything when preparing this recipe. The flavor profile was exactly like my mother's Polish cucumber salad AND you added potatoes. The best item however, were the rice cakes which I insisted on adding to our order even when counter woman thought we were complete. The sausage also tasted exactly as it should and the horseradish was a perfect compliment. The potski's were off in my opinion. I would prefer a doughy outside like pierogi, and keep them filled with kimchi or possibly kimchi with sausage and pickled mushroom to give it the full Polish-Korean flare. Potato pancakes: check. Hot sauce: check (although not needed since everything was good). Then there's the spite poutine. I say this because after we finished off our 5 items, yes, I went back and ordered poutine. I was still hungry. But even if I hadn't been, I would've ordered that poutine and put it down like a champ. Now that you know who I am Kimski, please do not keep me from entering because I've still got some fried rice and wings to try. read more

I LOVED my meal at Kimski. I shared a bunch of items with a friend, and everything we tried was fantastic. Recommend the scallion pancakes, pierogis, and pork belly. You wouldn't think Korean/polish fusion would make sense, but somehow it totally does! SO delicious! read more

I really loved this place, the food is so delicious and completely different from everywhere else. Who would have thought of mixing Korean and Polish food ? But it works and is so damned wonderful !!! Service is fast and friendly, atmosphere is very upbeat and laid back. Seating inside is limited, there is a adjoining bar with plenty of seating along with tables & chairs outside. The owner and award winning chefs bring amazing dishes with tremendous flavor. I was sort of puzzled when I read some of the negative reviews on Kimski, then again; there's always people you can never please. read more

Loved the hipster vibe in the space. Was like great Chicago street food. Had the polish and wings were both on point. I also had them throw some pork belly on top of the wings. It was all delicious. While I've been going to Maria's since it opened (as Maria's), this was only the second time that I've had food from Kimski. It's a great addition to an already awesome place in the neighborhood. The portions are a bit on the smaller side for the price, but I usually go with some friends and just share a bunch of different items so that everyone can try a bit of everything. Most of the food can be shareable if you want to do the same (the standard is the one exception). My favorites are the poutine and the potato pancakes. The setup is a bit different, especially if you've never been before. It's attached to Maria's (the bar). You can access Kimski through Maria's...but you can't access Maria's through Kimski technically. So if you order your food at Kimski first, then you have the walk out of the building and enter through Maria's to grab a seat ...and your food is brought to you. It's a different system, but you get it down after the first time. Kimski is an awesome addition to an already awesome bar! read more

The flavor combos at Kimski are very unique. The sausage was great- mild flavor, great snap and some crispy pieces. Mustard sauce should be bottled and sold in the store. The kraut was a little bitter for my liking. Pierogis were very good too. Frying them in the sesame oil was something I want to try at home. Overall, food was something I'd go back for tomorrow. Little noisy depending on time of day but Maria's is a great bar to grab a couple beers at and this food complements it well. read more

Never has two different food types called out to be fusion-ed more than Polish and Korean; my wife has been half joking about making a polish Korean fusion restaurant for years. So so very glad that when someone beat her to it they knocked it out of the park. Stopped in on Sun. of Labor Day wknd. DJ is bangin' House music out on the patio.Got the KoPo beef sammie, basically a Bulgogi hoagie. Serving size was modest, price not particularly cheap, but quality was on point. Beef was tender & flavorful, but lean. Bread was very good, soft & fluffy torpedo roll. Would return to try more of the menu. I live far north, so I wouldn't go that far out of my way to come here, but if you're near by, not a bad choice for a fairly unique & well executed casual meal. read more

Kimski is the bomb. Great food. Great beers. Owners support the music and the arts and the Bridgeport hood. Can't beat it.

What a delightful establishment. A mixture of Korean and Slavic food with a street food feel. The kitchen does honor to both of these cultures and brings forth a leviathan of unique flavours. Quite pleasing after a long night of stalking and cavorting the birds of the Bridgeport taverns. I was especially pleased with the kopitka, they brought me back to the milk bars of pre-capitalist Poland. Well done chaps, keep at it! read more

Lovely space with awesome food. The food is more Korean inspired Polish and a bit on the pricier side, but the creative combinations of flavors make it worth it. Maria's standard: The slight tang of the sauerkraut perfectly complemented the savory sausage. I also loved the use of whole grain mustard on the toasted bread roll. While at the end of the day, this is basically just a hot dog, I really liked how they elevated the flavor with the use of the sauerkraut and the mustard as well as replaced the bun with a roll similar to that of a lobster roll. Potato scallion pancake quesadillas: I was a bit iffy on this at first but I loved the choice of muenster cheese, which was just mild enough in flavor to not overwhelm the scallion pancake. Highly recommend pairing this with the house spicy sauce. Pierogis: Special of the day. Probably the weakest of the three--the pierogis had a nice chewy texture to it, but flavor wise didn't quite live up to the other two. Overall, a nice casual place to stop by for very unique food. read more

A bit underwhelming. I had the Maria Special and it was decent. Overpriced for the amount of food you get, and the fact that my entree looked different to those of others on here didn't seem right. The ambiance is really nice. We came here on a Friday and the place was very busy; unable to sit anywhere busy. They've got potential to be great, but falling short thus far. read more

I was excited to try this place but came away a little disappointed. Essentially its bar food for Maria's next door. Upon ordering you go find a table at Maria's with a number for your order. Even though it was moderately crowded, we got our food almost immediately which is good if your are the impatient type but means the food is prepped ahead of time. Maria's Standard (aka Polish sausage sandwich) was really good, especially the roll its served on. The potskis are a cross between potstickers and pierogi. They are deep fried. I thought the pastry was too dry and it was not served warm. I would have liked traditonal pierogi or potstickers but I guess that would be too messy for bar food. The scallion potato pancakes are served with some slices of polish sausage and pork butt. The pancakes were cold - if there is one thing that doesn't work cool its potato. For $9 I thought there could have been a little more meat. The kopo wings were good. But again similar complaint, they were served a little too cold for me. So not overwhelmed, but will I be back? Of course, Maria's is a great place. read more

It was my first time going here and probably my last. To be honest, I was really disappointed with the selection that I made, which was the Ko-Po beef sandwich, especially after the person at the counter recommended it. I honestly think they forgot to put toppings on it, or at least a normal amount, because there was nearly nothing on the roll. It was bland, if that. My fiancee` got a vegetarian bowl of some sort that had several dishes in one, some were good, some were meh. All in all, OK vibe, but mediocre food, at best. read more

I had the Wangs and the Fried Rice with Pork. It's a limited but tasty menu with some great items. I will say, if you're not into spicy food, this may not be the best location for you. Kimchi is the predominant ingredient in pretty much everything (except the Potski) so everything I had was on the spicy side. You can only order from the front of the shop. Go there first and place your order, retrieve your number, then head over to Maria's next door for seating. Maria recently expanded with a brighter, summer friendly outside patio and spacious bar addition. If you want the speakeasy feel, you can stay on the traditional side of the bar. Once you pick your favorite spot to sit, place your number on the table/bar and wait for your food to arrive. The portions are reasonable and filling (read, not gut busting... which I prefer). I was not hungry once done but I will say that I was craving something sweet to balance the spicy. No dessert is available... womp womp. I'm closing my eyes and dreaming of some black sesame ice cream, Won! :) Maria's, of course, has a great beer selection and full bar. They also have tap cocktails with a happy hour special for $5 a drink (down from the $8 full price). To that note, I had the Palmer, which was very refreshing. Come on by and check out Chef Won's take on Korean/Polish cuisine and enjoy the tasty creations. read more
