I'd been wondering why it feels like I'm the only one on Yelp who ever reviews panaderias, and it's gradually less of a mystery. The muffin, on the other hand, was definitely better than average. Still, the whole setup kind of weirded me out because they've got tongs and trays but no plastic, and panaderias aren't exactly where I want to take sanitation risks. You really can't compare a good New York-style bagel to something from the grocery store or even most of the bagel shops around here. The chew is different. They're moist, flavorful, and absolutely loaded with everything seasoning. I've been back several times now just to pick up a dozen. I used to think grabbing the double pack of bagels at Costco for six bucks was good enough. Nope. I'm ruined now. These are too good. I'll gladly pay more and actually enjoy the bagel. Then there are the apple turnovers. Astonishing. And the dessert counter is ridiculous. It's overflowing with pastries and desserts, and everything looks like something you want to take home.
