This lounge/restaurant is located next door to the Sheraton Downtown Brooklyn where I was staying over the weekend I absolutely loved my time at Kimoto Rooftop this past weekend. Special nod to the manager, Jordan for his personable demeanor and service as I came in with my parents the first night. We loved the salmon entree and the chop cheese egg roll bites.. The Asian fusion chicken and waffles tasted amazing. I loved the mixture of flavors and it's something I would've never tried outside of this restaurant. The ambiance is gorgeous and it's very spacious plus good music. The service got it 4 stars just due to the hostess and server being very serious, not as friendly and welcoming as I'd prefer for a fun day. We were able to grab a spot outside to sit but in terms of ordering drinks we had to walk to the bar on the opposite side of the rooftop to grab drinks and that was the only form of ordering. That took half an hour, we also could not order food outside and were told we would also have to go back to the bar to order food. No thanks. The only highlights I have here are that the drinks were tasty and the views were nice although the rooftop outdoor area is very tiny compared to other rooftops. Stopped by on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. We booked a reservation for 5:30pm. When we got there, there was no one at the door to greet us and bring us up the elevator. We couldn't go up by ourselves because apparently it requires some kind of key/special access to reach the rooftop. After waiting around for a bit, we went next door to the hotel. The front desk staff was confused as to why there was no host at the door and no staff to bring us up to the rooftop. He made a call and finally got someone to work the elevator. The guy working the elevator was super friendly and awesome. Our server was attentive at the beginning, but then the service dropped off later in the evening. It looked like she was attending to other patrons on the other side of the rooftop, so she probably didn't see us or maybe had too many tables to look after. We had to ask a busser to please ask for the server at least twice. Ambiance: Some people in our party thought it was tacky looking, while others were fine with the decor. However, we all agreed that the rooftop would be better if it wasn't still mostly covered. The cover blocks out most of the awesome views. Not sure why it's still covered since it's almost officially summer & the weather has been super warm! Drinks were good. Tried a variety of apps: - the pupu platter (choice of 3 apps) was not worth it. This is my second time coming here. Came in on a Friday night to celebrate my cousins birthday. We had made reservations online. Online, it states we should arrive 15 minutes prior to our reservation time. There was actually no line this time around when we arrived. At the main entrance, you get checked by security. Women only were given tickets for a free rum punch. There was no fee to get in this time around. However, last year when we came we were charged. Once you pass security, you are asked to wait for the elevator to take you up to the roof top. An employee is in charge of taking you up and down. This rooftop is very spacious. Love the decor of this place. There are multiple seating areas. We sat by the dj booth. Dj played great music throughout the night. They switch Dj's throughout the night. We ordered the crispy spring rolls, coconut shrimp, chicken wings, and ribs. Food and rum punch were good. Menu prices are very reasonable for a rooftop. Overall, it is a great spot to celebrate birthdays or just to chill. They do brunches here as well. Fridays, they open until 3am, but their websites state 4am. This place is unnecessarily loud. Like deafening loud. The food tasty like garlic was the only seasoning. I have never eaten at a restaurant that gives you porcelain plates but plastic forks and acrylic glasses. Yelp offered a 10% discount and bartender had no clue how to use it. I only came here because I wanted to watch the game and I'm at the Sheraton next door. The worst part was the bartender was smoking and were the enclosed part of the restaurant. I believe this is illegal. The only good thing about today's experience is that they had televisions by the bar so I was able to watch the wnba playoffs. I left at half time to finish watching the game in my room. I did buy some wings for later and pray they are half descent. Oh I forgot to mention the hookah smell from the other patrons that came in after me. Not everyone wants to inhale all of this carcinogens. I'll rate the wings later and update this review. I went with my friend for brunch around 1pm/2pm and they were trying to charge us a cover to eat brunch??? I understand that this rooftop is a restaurant and lounge but charging people to enter who just want to eat during the day is actually ridiculous and it wasn't even like there was a DJ. There payment system wasn't working so we were able to get in without paying the cover charge. I wouldn't have eaten here if I had to pay to get in. The food was good and I wouldn't recommend the bottomless mimosas unless you were planning to stay there for awhile because each individual will get charged and it's kinda a waste of money if you aren't planning to be there that long. We came to Kimoto Rooftop looking for good drinks and to relax in Brooklyn on a Saturday afternoon. We were a little surprised that was is a $10 cover per person unless you have reservations I guess. Upon entering the rooftop, you're greeted by colorful flowers and decor throughout. This is a huge space with different varieties of seating, from tabletop, lounge booths, and lounge chairs. It was hard to find a spot at first, because many places had reserved signs on them, and others we were told were reserved but had no indication of it. When we were escorted to another section and told where we could sit, we were eventually told that our table was reserved for another party. Jordan (who turned out to be the manager), was beyond professional and courteous to work with and allow us to stay in our section since the next party wasn't going to arrive for another hour. The vibes and good times (and hookah) are prevalent here, and the DJ was phenomenal with his music selection. The Cereal Killer intrigued me once I saw that it truly had Corn Flakes in it. The strawberry and orange hid the Bacardi nicely, but not making it too sweet. My love enjoyed the White Yuzu Lychee Sangria. When we finished our drinks and paid the bill, Jordan again apologized for the miscommunication and offered for us to come to the bar for shots. We went over and the bartender was VERY generous. It was much more than a few shots in our glasses, we enjoyed being able to chill by the bar, drink, and dance to the music. You are then informed that everyone pays a 10 dollar fee just to get in. To be honest , that is unnecessary especially if it is a large group doing pre-fix etc. Upon arrival I noticed we were placed in a corner outside away from everything and it looked janky. I asked to move inside and they were able to accommodate and put us in the way nicer and decorated space. The waitress was not attentive. We had to chase her down for stuff. I didn't like that. She was never by the table checking in. They decorate it decently and the DJ was ok. Wish the vibes were more upbeat. Wasn't much dancing on the dance floor but more so in your seat at your section. They have hookah, the first one was great. The refills were not. Don't refill. The down side was food/brunch drinks. You are charged 55 pp for 1 brunch entree and unlimited mimosas for 2 hrs. I got the shrimp teriyaki from the brunch menu. It came out cold. The shrimp just tasted too grilled like charred but wasn't hot. Nothing on my plate even came remotely warm. It was terrible. The drinks came pre mixed in a pitcher and 75 percent juice/ fake juice mix. There was barely champagne and certsin flavors were overly sugary and tasted fake. I went to the bar and got an old fashion and that is the only drink I enjoyed. Also, the establishment knew it was a birthday. However, did nothing to acknowledge that. We arrived about 30 mins past our reservation time on our first day here and they still were able to accommodate us. The brunch host (who was also a manager) had so much energy which made the experience fun. We also had a photographer take our picture but you had to pay $20 to get the physical print of it which comes in a nice frame. The food was terrible. First, it took about 20 minutes to get our food just for it to be COLD! I had the shrimp teriyaki and the shrimp tasted like it was cooked on a grill that wasn't cleaned properly. This a typical overpriced, nasty, scamming spot that takes advantage of the community who supports them, knowing that there are limited spaces where POC feel comfortable and accepted. First of all, we prepaid a deposit and the host stuck us in a corner instead of the main area. She said we were supposed to request it. If that area is only for people who paid deposits, why weren't we automatically placed there? Because youre sneaky. Next, we were BOLDLY seated at a table for four when our reservation was booked for WEEKS for 6. We were refused an extra table and then informed that other parties around us for 6 were also being placed at tables for 4. So they are PURPOSELY overbooking. The host/"manager" had the worst attitude. There was zero apology for the overbooking, and she acted as if we were blessed to even be there. In addition to paying a reservation deposit, we all also had to pay a cover charge. I have been to establishments around the world...everywhere from 3 Michelin starred restaurants in Monaco to rooftops all over NYC and this was by far the trashiest, nastiest staff and worst experience I have had in years. I don't pretend to have experienced better...if you're Kimoto reading this, check my other reviews you'll see some of the places I've been. This is my review of Komoto rooftop restaurant and lounge located downtown Brooklyn. This restaurant does have a cover charge per person. Once you receive your wristbands, the elevator takes you to the restaurant on the top floor. The area is well decorated and gives the perfect day party vibe, with a DJ who plays all genres of music. For drinks, we ordered Long Island iced teas, which were well-made. Keep in mind, the drinks are pricey however, you do have the option to pay one price for two hours of unlimited mimosas. For appetizers, we ordered chicken dumplings and crispy spring rolls. The appetizers came out fast but looked and tasted fresh. They also came with a dipping sauce that was delicious. For entrées, we ordered the teriyaki shrimp, and sauce tasted great however the rice was dry and the broccoli was a bit hard. The staff was very accommodating and the area was a lot larger. The setting is somewhat like a club/restaurant mix. There's a live DJ, hookah, and bottle service available. We were seated right across from the bar which was cool. Our server was friendly. The menu options have many appetizers and cocktails but not many main dishes to choose from. Food: overall the food here is like a 2.5-3/5. There is nothing special or particularly delicious about it but it's good for soaking up the drinks. Pupu platter: this was alright. Not bad. The volcano roll: I highly recommend against ordering this if you eat and like real sushi. This was offensive. They have five pieces of deep fried roll which was probably fried too long because everything inside was hot, the lobster on top and inside was not giving what it was supposed to give, there was no other type of fish that I could appreciate inside. Just pass on this one ok. Garlic fried rice: this was iight, relatively tasty initially and tastier after a couple of tropical mules. Also a very large portion. Drinks: The Tropical mule was hitting. It's good, a bit sweet but can sneak up on you. We got a pitcher after having tried one and it serves about 4 drinks. Forbidden fruit: my friend seemed to enjoy it. Price range: about $200-300 for two (including tip and $40 cover). I feel like the food and the vibe could've been a little better for the price point. Maybe it was just not the right night. Told there was a $20 cover charge at the door, which was blatantly a lie after seeing other patrons go upstairs without paying a fee. Couldn't tell you about the food because there was no service to be had. $40 dollars for one Tito's and soda and a gin tonic? No thanks. This place is advertised as a rooftop bar with a dress code.
