I had a few minutes to meander around my phone this morning and happen to browse through Yelp! I was shocked to see some derogatory reviews left about Kimmie's in Brea. We love the breakfast food and the atmosphere is loving and warm. The servers greet you the minute you enter with warm genuine smiles. They are eager to meet your needs with quality food . All of the people are professional and check on you several times to be sure your experience is everything it can be. Two of the waitresses, Leah and Charissa, have smiles that light up the room and they go out of their way to be sure your smallest individual needs are met.... I can't imagine where they get all that energy! Even when customers arrive with small children.... They address them personally and are quick to be sure they receive their special little drinks so they are happy little contributors to the social atmosphere of the restaurant. I have not been to this Kimmie's location in quite a while but nothing has changed (except the prices!). The food is still very good but I have never had a server with a worse demeanor, bordering on rude. If you just come for the food, you will probably be satisfied. Food is good. I've been to the Kimmies in Orange many times and first time at the Brea location. What is not good? The b!tchy disposition of every single server in there. No warm hello, no niceness whatsoever. It's like the patrons are doing them a favor for going in there. Really bad service. Rude, snappy and made us feel unwelcome. So I know that many other reviews critique the servers/service, and I have to say that's understandable - they are rather short with customers. However I have become a regular there and feel as though they treat regular customers with more attentiveness and speedy service. The food always keeps me coming back, and I always order the same thing - the Mexican Scramble. It is by far my favorite. Be prepared to wait to be seated if you choose to go on a weekend. My parents love it, they went few times in two weeks. The whole restaurant has a homey vibe, it's warm and lovely. Kinda give you a feeling of the 70'. The food test pretty good too. I would really like to take a moment and recognize Kimmies coffee cup in brea and particularly Carissa. I've been coming to get my breakfast and lunch now for about 1 1/2. The atmosphere is really nice warm and welcoming. The service is really great. Carissa really take really great care of me. I say this cause I have type 1 diabetes and I have to watch my dietary. Usually I would go to the fullerton kimmies on Commonwealth, but tried this location in Brea. I was a little disappointed because ive found that the customer service has spiraled. I walked in with my mom, the lady says 'ohh, for two, ok you can sit there, pointing and not leading us to our table, so, we sat. She was at an empty table didnt look busy and didn even turn around after we sat down. The food was good, patty very salty but if you like salt(like I) its good. Another server came to assist, very nice, young girl, it wasnt until I asked who that other lady was, that they attended to us, the rude lady's name was Leah. While waiting for our food, Leah, welcomed customers (that looked like regulars) with a welcoming " Hi how are you, when did you get back from vacation". Like, we didnt get that welcoming. I did notice that the ethnicity she was welcoming were white vs my mom and I being mexican. While another customer came in, she also told him to sit at the counter, and she tossed the menu to the gentleman. Being a resident in fullerton my entire life , I have noticed a change in customer service in fullerton and now in brea. I wouldn't go again. However, the food was decent. Service by Alexis G. today , Jan 3, 2026, was terrible, as she forgot to enter the order for over an hour. After we spoke with her about it, she stated "things happen" and let it go, but then came back an added "don't worry I'll give you a good discount." By the way the discount never happened because she also forgot to do that as well, but you can't say anything because according to her she's one of the owners, so I guess that makes it all the better. We were not happy with fresh "hot' food", because that was not true this day, even though we've been in there a number of time and always enjoy the food, help and atmosphere, I'm not sure if we will be back as there are a number of places that are doing better, or so it seems. Tried the country sliders for the first time! So amazing! The biscuits were so soft and fluffy! The eggs were perfect and the sausage was thick and perfectly done! Hash browns were golden brown! Came here with my girlfriend's family and as we rolled up on it, I knew I was in for an interesting visit. We walked in and it was an old-school cafe that looked like it used to be an antique store. It didn't have that smell, it just had that look that I've become accustomed to. Getting to breakfast: I chose to try the chicken fried steak and eggs, and i continue to look for the best one. This wasn't it, but it was good, crispy, good flavor and hash browns and eggs were good too. The Sourdough bread was really great, plenty of crunch and buttered perfectly. My girlfriend had the breakfast tacos, with freshly made salsa and sour cream with hash browns. She ate all of it and enjoyed the tacos. She took a slice of my toast and was happy as well with that aspect. The food came out fast and three different waitresses looked after us. 1 Star Review I felt extremely uncomfortable during my visit. The older white lady with short hair was loudly criticizing what seemed to be a new cook the entire time I was eating. She kept hovering over him, telling the other cook to "teach him," and announcing to customers things like, "I hope you're not in a rush for your food because it needs to be remade." It was hard to enjoy my meal hearing someone being treated that way. The food itself was decent, but no one checked on us until after we paid when the same woman just said, "You good." The environment felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. It was also very noticeable how much more friendly and attentive the white waitresses were toward their regular white customers compared to us. Watching the way she disrespected the Hispanic cooks honestly made me sick. I heard her also tell him "what is this?! remake it! why does it look like this?!" Kimmie's Coffee Cup does have pretty good breakfast food it's mainly the service that is pretty poor. The waitresses seem to really dislike their jobs considering they are dismissive and rude. I got their muffins which were disappointing to say the least. Firstly, they didn't update the board so they didn't have the muffins I wanted to take home. Secondly, the muffins are in-fact from costco. I saw the muffins... the exact ones at costco when I went that very same one. Extremely disappointing that they do not make the muffins themselves and buy them from Costco instead. Atmosphere can be a little dense since the employees don't really check up on you throughout your meal. I had higher hopes from this small business since the food itself is good but the service and vibes are awful. They need to work on their customer service skills. read more

Also I don't see the chef that worked here for years. He was awesome. The menu is not as large as it used to be and the prices have gone way up. Chili size was just ok. Quality of service is great: the waitress saw that there was a large piece of hair on my dish and immediately took it away to fix it. Food quality: Food is underpar. The menu has your typical American breakfasts, which I love a good eggs benedict. But the quality was not as great as I was hoping for. The restaurant gives a feel of a diner with checkered tables. The waitress lacks personality and at times felt like we were a bother. The food was ok. Omelet was packed with items I chose but was over cooked and dry. The hash browns were so oily I couldn't eat them. My sister got the hash and it takes like they added a spice to it which we wished they wouldn't have. Over all we won't be back.
