And we ordered half the menu because that's how we roll. ....But the only reason we have not been back is because you will have to wait an extremely long time and when I say long I mean close to 1hr to 1.5 to get your food. When I asked the server, about the wait time and if it's always like this; She did explain that this is normal because of the short staff. I've been here 3 times and have loved the food that I got all times. I do wish the kimbap weren't premade though, because I saw my favorite Korean youtuber eat it and was so excited to try it, but I don't eat poultry or dark meats, only fish. The young lady waitress was happy to point out the pescatarian options on the menu and explain what things were. I'm so happy to enjoy another's cultural food. The environment in the restaurant is also very family friendly and plays korean music on the tv's, which i liked. And the wait is reasonable, and so are the prices, in my opinion. They aren't priced like fast-food, mind you, but all of the food is great quality and authentic from what I've seen from my favorite Korean youtuber and what she eats on her camping trips. I'm so happy I got to eat what she eats in her videos. If you're curious her channel is called Rirang OnAir. You know it's a legitimate Korean restaurant when they provide all the Korean side dishes. They even refilled the side dishes because the main courses were taking a bit longer to come out. Side dishes all had great flavors and were all very different. We ordered the Pork Bulgogi (Spicy Pork) and had people sitting next to us asking what we got because it looked so good. Taste was great, the only criticism i have was that the pork was a little minced and didn't have nice big pieces of pork. We also got the Jap Che, which had some deliciously chewy sweet potato noodles with beef. The wait for food was a bit long but they made sure to keep checking in on how we were doing. So we went to Kimchi Time for a late lunch/early diner. Place was not busy when we got there and we were seated immediately. Waitress asked if we wanted water and brought us two glasses a couple of minutes later. We ordered Korean Street Tacos as an app but we were told they were out of those. So we ordered the Korean Chicken Wings. About five minutes later we went to order our entrees. My wife Kimchi Jigae and she was told they were out so she ordered the spicy beef and vegetable soup and some jeon; I ordered the sweet and spicy ribs. Our chicken wings came out and we're delicious. About 15 minutes after our entree order was taken another member of the staff came over and explained that they were actually out of ribs. So I asked for the menu and ended up ordering Dookbaegi. The food was great. Now here is the problem: we have been going to Kimchi Time since they were much smaller with white walls. The place was always hopping every time we went in, the staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was always fantastic and never out. Now it has expanded and it looks like the college hangout vibe is being pushed. The staff are courteous but I would not call them friendly and they certainly are not attentive. To be out of parts of the menu so early when you are not busy means there is a problem. At a minimum you should put a list up of what is unavailable instead of happy hour specials. It will be awhile before we go back, instead we will go to our other favorite place on Speedway for our Korean food itch. read more

The food here is so delicious! I enjoyed the bibimbap in the hot stone bowl. I also had some appetizers like the short ribs and wings. My group used the karaoke room- which was a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it. The only bad part was how hot the karaoke room was. The room never quite cooled down but it was an extra hot day and there were tons of people in the room. TL;DR - Fantastic service and the food was on point! Come in and get your Korean food on. We ordered: Haemul Jeon (seafood pancake), Dookbaegi (hotpot beef bulgogi) and Soon du bu (spicy tofu soup). For banchan (side dishes that come with your meal), they had pickled radish, cucumber, kimchi, fish tofu, and lotus root. The seafood pancake came out on a stone plate and was nice and crispy. Both the dookbaegi and soon du bu were served in hot pots and came with purple rice. The servers were really attentive, both in refilling our water and in replenishing the banchan. I think the price is very reasonable for the portion size. I ordered kimchi chigae, and it came with rice and a small portion of the Korean side dishes (banchan). I thought the soup was spicy and flavorful. There were few pieces of pork, and although the kimchi flavor was strong, I didn't get a good sense of savory balance. I am a native Korean & just wanted to share my thoughts about this restaurant. First off, we have not tried this place for a few years after the disastrous experience with them during the pandemic. I used to LOVE this restaurant when I first tried it about 5 years ago . We were new to town and didn't expect anything decent Korean food in this desert city, Tucson . But once we tasted the foods , we were pleasantly surprised. The foods were amazing. The service was awesome. The ambiance was great. Very authentic Southern Korean cuisine in this Sonoran desert. Wow. As a Korean- American-New Yorker, this was a pleasant surprise & we enjoyed visiting there with friends and family frequently over the years. Fast forward, after returning my family visit in Korea about a month ago , I was craving for some spicy Korean foods that I decided to visit the restaurant again encouraged by the new glowing Yelp reviews. A nice young wait staff greeted us upon arriving at the restaurant and we were promptly seated. We noticed the new decorations on the wall that reminded me of a restaurant in the middle of the boondocks in Korea somewhere back in the mid nineties , regardless, it was different & refreshing. The nice young server brought us the side dishes upon seating & we ordered a few to eat - kimchi pancakes, chicken fried rice , tofu/kimchi spicy pork, & OB Korean beers. While waiting for the food, we tried the side dishes and we knew it right off the food would be mediocre . The side dishes were so bad . The fish cakes were dry , the cucumber kimchi was " sweet!!!" & the Napa cabbage kimchi tasted like a mock-kimchi with some salt & vinegar! How awful, we murmured. Most Korean recipes require the basic ingredients-soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, ginger, scallions, & salt. With this, one could make all kinds of savory, spicy Korean dishes in all forms- side dishes, main dishes, BBQ, stews, etc. Once the side dishes are made in this awful manner , there is no way to make other dishes taste better, as the same ingredients are used for the main dishes. Simple is that. The Korean culture is hot these days- the pop music , movies, fashion, history , foods, and beyond. There is no way this restaurant will be able to contribute to the trends with this below average quality of food. What a shame. I would not bring my friends and family to this restaurant AND their newly opened Karaoke bar , as I have nothing to show to my friends. Fortunately, there are a few other decent Korean restaurants in Tucson , where I could introduce a taste of the Korean cuisine. I hope the new owner(s) of the restaurant takes my review seriously and that they will improve the quality of the food. If not, they will not be successful in this competitive environment. Kimchi Time is definitely one of the better korean restaurants in town and it is filled with a lot of classic Korean dishes! I went tonight with friends and the service was very good, attentive, and quick! You seat yourself, and the servers are very quick to help you. During the meal, the server was also very attentive if we needed refills on our drinks and water! I ordered the Kimbap and Tteokbokki! Both were really good and classic! The Tteokbokki has a welcomed ~twist~ to it and has ramen noodles as well so it was very filling while adding an extra layer of flavor! In general, my food was (and is always) very good but not outstanding. However the prices are very good as you get nice sized portions for not that expensive of a cost! We chatted with the server and found out she's the owners daughter, her brother sometimes helps wait tables and her parents are the cooks/owners. She was working by herself and only had about 5 tables but couldn't keep up. We ordered the bubimbap and kimchi balls. The owner came out and said he was making more kimchi balls so they might come after our meal. We weren't in a rush and said it was fine. The bubimbap was good. It's not seasoned but they serve "sides" which is a bunch of small dishes of fermented veggies, and a squeeze bottle of some kind of sriracha sauce. It came out sizzling in a clay pot that was so hot it never cooled down the whole time we ate. It felt like an hour after we ordered the kimchi balls finally came out. They were so good and worth the wait. I liked them better than the bubimbap, they were the size of softballs! Taking off a star because I realized I was overcharged, the menu says bubimbap is $13.95, I got that and water on my check and was told my total was $16.25. They use a handheld card reader so the breakdown wasn't shown and I didn't think to ask at the time. read more
