TL;DR - Fantastic service and the food was on point! Come in and get your Korean food on. We ordered: Haemul Jeon (seafood pancake), Dookbaegi (hotpot beef bulgogi) and Soon du bu (spicy tofu soup). For banchan (side dishes that come with your meal), they had pickled radish, cucumber, kimchi, fish tofu, and lotus root. The seafood pancake came out on a stone plate and was nice and crispy. Both the dookbaegi and soon du bu were served in hot pots and came with purple rice. The servers were really attentive, both in refilling our water and in replenishing the banchan. I think the price is very reasonable for the portion size. I ordered kimchi chigae, and it came with rice and a small portion of the Korean side dishes (banchan). I thought the soup was spicy and flavorful. There were few pieces of pork, and although the kimchi flavor was strong, I didn't get a good sense of savory balance. I am a native Korean & just wanted to share my thoughts about this restaurant. First off, we have not tried this place for a few years after the disastrous experience with them during the pandemic. I used to LOVE this restaurant when I first tried it about 5 years ago . We were new to town and didn't expect anything decent Korean food in this desert city, Tucson . But once we tasted the foods , we were pleasantly surprised. The foods were amazing. The service was awesome. The ambiance was great. Very authentic Southern Korean cuisine in this Sonoran desert. Wow. As a Korean- American-New Yorker, this was a pleasant surprise & we enjoyed visiting there with friends and family frequently over the years. Fast forward, after returning my family visit in Korea about a month ago , I was craving for some spicy Korean foods that I decided to visit the restaurant again encouraged by the new glowing Yelp reviews. A nice young wait staff greeted us upon arriving at the restaurant and we were promptly seated. We noticed the new decorations on the wall that reminded me of a restaurant in the middle of the boondocks in Korea somewhere back in the mid nineties , regardless, it was different & refreshing. The nice young server brought us the side dishes upon seating & we ordered a few to eat - kimchi pancakes, chicken fried rice , tofu/kimchi spicy pork, & OB Korean beers. While waiting for the food, we tried the side dishes and we knew it right off the food would be mediocre . The side dishes were so bad . The fish cakes were dry , the cucumber kimchi was " sweet!!!" & the Napa cabbage kimchi tasted like a mock-kimchi with some salt & vinegar! How awful, we murmured. Most Korean recipes require the basic ingredients-soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, ginger, scallions, & salt. With this, one could make all kinds of savory, spicy Korean dishes in all forms- side dishes, main dishes, BBQ, stews, etc. Once the side dishes are made in this awful manner , there is no way to make other dishes taste better, as the same ingredients are used for the main dishes. Simple is that. The Korean culture is hot these days- the pop music , movies, fashion, history , foods, and beyond. There is no way this restaurant will be able to contribute to the trends with this below average quality of food. What a shame. I would not bring my friends and family to this restaurant AND their newly opened Karaoke bar , as I have nothing to show to my friends. Fortunately, there are a few other decent Korean restaurants in Tucson , where I could introduce a taste of the Korean cuisine. I hope the new owner(s) of the restaurant takes my review seriously and that they will improve the quality of the food. If not, they will not be successful in this competitive environment. I feel bad for the young wait staff , who was excellent; personable, friendly, polite, and respectful. read more

I went tonight with friends and the service was very good, attentive, and quick! You seat yourself, and the servers are very quick to help you. During the meal, the server was also very attentive if we needed refills on our drinks and water! I ordered the Kimbap and Tteokbokki! Both were really good and classic! The Tteokbokki has a welcomed ~twist~ to it and has ramen noodles as well so it was very filling while adding an extra layer of flavor! In general, my food was (and is always) very good but not outstanding. However the prices are very good as you get nice sized portions for not that expensive of a cost! We chatted with the server and found out she's the owners daughter, her brother sometimes helps wait tables and her parents are the cooks/owners. She was working by herself and only had about 5 tables but couldn't keep up. We ordered the bubimbap and kimchi balls. The owner came out and said he was making more kimchi balls so they might come after our meal. We weren't in a rush and said it was fine. The bubimbap was good. It's not seasoned but they serve "sides" which is a bunch of small dishes of fermented veggies, and a squeeze bottle of some kind of sriracha sauce. It came out sizzling in a clay pot that was so hot it never cooled down the whole time we ate. It felt like an hour after we ordered the kimchi balls finally came out. They were so good and worth the wait. I liked them better than the bubimbap, they were the size of softballs! Taking off a star because I realized I was overcharged, the menu says bubimbap is $13.95, I got that and water on my check and was told my total was $16.25. They use a handheld card reader so the breakdown wasn't shown and I didn't think to ask at the time. read more

My husband ordered the food as he is more familiar with the Korean cuisine. We ordered two main dishes which come with the regular sides of kimchi and other little dishes that go very well with the food. The mains also came with 2 bowls of rice. We didn't order any drinks, just water. The food came out pretty quickly. It was served on sizzling plates. The beef was so tender and juicy, it had so much flavor. The price was pretty reasonable for the delicious food and great service. The place is pretty clean. It is worth mentioning that I found it by checking out he visit Tucson website. Continuing our food adventures in Tucson, we checked out this spot as we wanted to hit all the places we couldn't get home. Good Korean food doesn't exist in Knoxville, TN. Kimchi Time is a little spot in a departmental shopping center and when you walk in, it's pretty much the dining room and that's about it. There's a bar but they served very limited amount of alcohol. They had soju and your normal beer, but it wasn't really anything special. For food, I got the the dolsot bi-bim-bap.It was alright. Was it legitimate? Yes. Was it safe? Yeah. So my advice to you is if you don't want anything scary or "exotic", bi bim bap is where you go. It's basically a bowl of rice with some protein and veggies. It's pretty simple, the difference about this one was that it was served in a clay pot which basically charred the rice. It can get pretty hot in temp so be careful! Kimchi Time wasn't bad especially for what it is in Tucson and it serving the area. Not bad for Korean food, and you'll probably definitely have something better if you go to another city. But overall it was okay and I would say if you wanted a true Korean experience to try other places, but if you don't have anything around this could be a substitute. read more
