I ordered # C. THREE ROLLS COMBO (20 PCS)California Roll, Dynamite Roll, Chicken Thigh Roll $13. Online off their menu. Went to pickup and they didnt have it ready as they didnt notice the order. Hostess/ owner was very nice and gave me tea as I waited..which only was 2 minutes, seemed almost too fast. Sushi was ok. The rice was soft and it 8came with a good amount of white ginger and wasabi. The chicken thigh wasnt very good, dry and nothing special overall. The dynamite roll was lacking. California was very plain. Miso soup was cold and seemed minimal. Overall was just ok. read more

Came back for the first since covid started and didn't know they had changed ownership but let me tell you this new change has been amazing. The food, decor, parking, service and even the owner came to us asking if everything was ok. The prices were absolutely reasonable for the size of the pieces. The pictures does no justice. Sat in on a weekday night with a large group for some yummy sushi and fun mingling! Due to the size of our party, we were seated in the back area which had a number of small tables and booths. I ordered the teriyaki and sashimi box and it was relatively large. Most bento boxes I have seen struggle either with too much rice or not enough variety. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that kimchi palace dinner boxes were not plagued with this concern. Even though we had so many people, the servers were quick to take orders and patient as we worked our way around the menu. The orders came out pretty quickly, despite being at a prime meal time as well. Props to them for keeping us happy. The food tasted great! The gyoza and tempura were flavorful and crispy without being too overbearing with the fried exterior/batter. The teriyaki meat was pretty standard, good consistency and not too dry. I was most skeptical about the sushi as this can sometimes be the weakest link in bento boxes, but the fish was fresh and had a good ratio of rice. Such a gem! The name is a little deceiving for a mainly Japanese menu, but I enjoyed it either way. read more

My never ending quest for the ultimate sushi roll has found me at this little off the beaten path place. This joint was recommended by the Hampton Inn manager, he said, "It might look like a dump, but it's actually good." Now how can I resist that recommendation? The building is very unique, kind of the old-school Japanese shanti look. I walked in and it was surprisingly decorated in authentic Japanese art and very clean. The sushi chefs were warm and friendly. One thing - no one spoke a word of English! This made for interesting ordering, in the end, I just pointed to the pictures. I started with Nigiri. Presentation was outstanding. Cuts were perfect. Nigiri was flesh and melted in my mouth. Then I moved on to a Dragon Roll and a Vancouver Roll. Both were very well done and tasty. All in all, it was a 3.5. Average. Almost a 4, if the price was a little more in line, then it would have been a 4. Not overly expensive, mind you, BUT a little over average for average sushi, thus rating was what it was. read more

First time to this sushi place in a while. Maybe over 4 years now. It wasn't so great before and I feel its in a stagnant position. Not improving in anyway. The décor is actually quite nice but the food not so much. I order the bento box for dinner, with beef. the beef itself had no texture and was covered and I mean covered in teriyaki sauce which was super thick that what I'm used to. The miso soup was overly salty could get myself to have more than a couple sips. The tempura on the other hand was the only good, and I mean just only good, thing in the bento box. Was just driving through on my way home and notced this place because of the name which I thought was pretty funny. After quickly searching reviews I decided to give this place a shot. Outside looked bad but inside looked amazing. Completely renovated and the food was really really good. Somewhat on the higher price range but loved what I ordered. I got the chicken cutlet and my partner got lunch bento box. Both were fantastic. Later went to store beside to grab some drinks and the owner was funny. He was telling me he just bought the new place and was planning on renovating as well. Good little shop with lots of choose from. I shall write a review of that place too. read more

I have stopped at the little store there and asked if I would be okay to leave my car in front of the store for a few minutes and they said sure. So I went in and ordered a bento box. It was very good for sure! I also took my daughter there one evening and she enjoyed it as well. I took a friend who was visiting from up north and she had never eaten this kind of food and she was a tad nervous but she ended up loving it as well. My daughter and I are regulars there now! Very pleasant staff and great food! They certainly got our vote and it is so close to home! read more

I work close to this place, and have ordered takeout from here before - consistently average quality at best. Today I ended up meeting a friend here for lunch (her pick) and was very disappointed with the experience. Our server was just that - a server with little to no extra effort. I ordered a couple of rolls with brown rice instead of traditional white, then proceeded to wait...and wait...and wait. After everyone else in the restaurant had been served (about an hour after placing our orders), our less than amicable waitress told us our food was coming up and that the extended prep time was due to the brown rice substitution. ??? Apparently brown rice is made to order which significantly increases the time it will take between ordering and receiving your food. Tip - save yourself some time and go somewhere else. There are many other sushi restaurants in this area with similar pricing, higher quality products, and better service. I won't be back if I can help it. read more

This place is mere blocks from our home and am I ever glad of that!! We often order take out and they have always done a wonderful job. The food is high quality and the service has always been good though I will admit I have only done take away.. We have never actually eaten in the restaurant. I recommend you try Kim Chi........you will not be disappointed. read more

We love Kim Chi Palace, it has been recently remodeled inside, very nicely done. This isn't a gourmet place, but they have some of the best rolls out there. They have great, friendly service, and consistently good food with good prices. A good place to take anyone, from people who are new to sushi to those who are wanting the sashimi, as they have a lot of options. read more

Visited a couple of time with my wife. We ordered primarily off the Korean menu the first visit and the food was good, also the service was fine both times. The second time we tried the Japanese menu, which was a mistake. I should mention that we lived in Japan for more than 17 years, so we have a good understanding of how Japanese food should taste. When they made the nigiri sushi rice, they don't seem to have added any vinegar to the rice, a major failure. We also ordered what was described as "geso kara-age" which translates as "deep-fried squid tentacles". Unfortunately, what we got was deep-fried strips of squid, which is completely different. The chicken yaki-soba was unremarkable, except for the rather small portion size. If you're looking for Korean food, this is probably a good choice, but if you want anything remotely resembling Japanese food, avoid it. read more

I had not been to Kim Chi for a while and enjoyed it before but today was a disappointment. The roll combo had very compressed rice. It was rather cold, like it had been prepared earlier and refrigerated. Not very pleasant. My partner had a lunch box combo and again very firmly packed rice on the roll and a large amount of rice under the Korean style chicken. Miso soup was kind of strong and salty. Food was okay, service not. I was with a friend who has been there 20+ times many times with very large groups of 10-20 people. A good customer... 15 min after we got our bill and finishing mint candy, the waitress informed us that she forgot to serve us our teriyaki chicken. It was a menu for 2 with many different items, so we didn't notice. They asked if we still wanted it... because it already had been a while that we were done, we didn't want the chicken anymore as a desert :-) We kindly asked to take it off our bill, since they messed up the order. They said it was not possible. After a few friendly requests, reminding them that my friend eats at their place all the time, they did not want to take the teriyaki chicken off the bill. The chef came to say it's not possible. Then the manager came and said it's normal that there's time between the different food items. When we showed her that was 15+ min after we got the bill and mint candy, she said oooh. Later she came back and gave us a 2 CAD reduction. That was very offensive, which we expressed. She would not bow or bend, and did not care if we were unsatisfied with her offer... So unfortunately no tip... the first time ever. Very sad but they lost a good customer that comes with big groups... worth thousands of dollars, and all that "fight" over paying back a teriyaki chicken dish, which they 100% messed up. Too bad... was totally unnecessary because we're very easy going usually. read more

The place is better than it looks. Was one of the first places we discovered a few years ago that didnt just carry ur mainstream sushi rolls and has some of their own unique rolls still. Definately worth a checkout read more
