First we ordered a sushi and sashimi box which came with a large portion of fresh sashimi, 4 pieces of nigiri, prawn tempura, gyoza and chicken teriyaki. We changed it to beef teriyaki for $1 and even though the box came to around $18, I think it was worth it for the quality of food! The sashimi was all very nicely cut, smooth and flavourful. The beef was not fatty or overly sauced and the tempura was a generous portion of prawn rather than just veggies. We were also presented with complimentary edamame for the entire table! Next, we got their Baked Salmon Roll and Agedashi Tofu Lunch special. This was again, a great deal because the roll itself cost $11.95 so we got an agedashi tofu for only 2 dollars! The tofu was really hot when it came to the table but so soft in a delicious sweet sauce. The roll was a surprise as it was topped with baked salmon AND cheese. I am not a fan of cheese so this ate a little heavy for me BUT my parents really liked the interesting combination and honestly, it kind of worked! The roll was filled with imitation crab meat and the rice layer was nice and thin. Last, we got a chopped scallop roll and it was simple but wonderfully done! With large scallop pieces, well flavoured rice and a good rice to filling portion, I really enjoyed this roll! Overall, we really enjoyed this meal and the service was also extremely sweet!

We'll be back!

We found it originally because I had a hankering for japanese after being in Vegas for 4 days and being food gluttons on rich food. We were not disappointed and I have leftovers to have for lunch tomorrow. We ordered the Miso tempura ramen and it came with a full order of assorted tempura! I also ordered the dynamite roll, favourite. I will definitely be back here, yummmm. A sweet family owned business, I highly recommend it.

Both orders were fresh and quite a filler! The Ebi pop pop roll was a fun choice with the fried shrimp on top. Nice to try for the first time, but I'd probably go for a roll that is a little more different next time because the roll itself was your good ol' California roll which was quite similar to the roll that was in the Sashimi Box. Overall a good place to stop by for some Japanese eats with family.

Food arrived after 15-20 minutes. Didn't enjoy the appetizer sashimi. The temperatures were warm. Working in quality assurance in the seafood industry made it extremely difficult for me to be satisfied. Prawn tempura and agedashi tofu were delicious. Chicken katsu was dry. Beef teriyaki was excellent. Lots of indoor seating. Modern decor. Clean. It would be better if you assign servers to specific table. We had 3 different servers come to our table and we had 2 extra miso soup. We had 2 different servers ask the same questions a few times. All in all, good experience.

The sushi was good size, so not too big, and with focus on the filling and with a thin rice coat which is great because I didn't have to remove the excess rice like I have to do in other sushi places. I will visit again for sure.

After looking over the menu, we placed our order for some sashimi, oshi and gyoza. Food arrived after a short wait. Sashimi was fresh. They were deep fried nicely and super crispy. Service was great. Our server checked up on us regularly to refill water, removed dirty plates and asked if we needed anything else. Prices a bit higher than average, but the quality of the food was good.

Despite driving past the giant pothole at the driveway to the mini mall complex, we parked safely, and went inside to eat. The restaurant was clean, pretty busy, and the staff were extremely attentive. I ordered the Red Fox roll, and a Tofu Kimchi roll. Both rolls were delicious, fresh, vibrant, and flavourful. They looked like very big roll pieces, because of their respective presentations, but were actually hiding very manageable pieces of sushi. Overall, I was certainly very pleased with it experience at Sushi California, and would definitely be back to try the rest of their menu offerings in future. Delicious~!

If you have been to the Sushi California Guildford location it is like night and day. The Langley…read morelocation is not nearly as good by a long shot. I found it surprising and odd to come at lunch time with lots of available parking and seats, the place was not overly busy. Compare that to the Surrey (Guildford ) location that is always full and overflowing with both customers and cars trying to park. Guess it makes sense once you experience both the food and service at the Langley location, both IMHO need work as the quality and quantity of their sushi is lower grade and literally half the portion sizes for their sushi compared to Surrey location, and the service at Langley is literally zero smiling and not overly friendly staff, while Surrey is upbeat and friendly. Despite the Langley location's inside being more bright with better seating options with proper tables compared to Surrey relying on flexible bench seating to be shared, that does not make up for much. IMHO go to the Surrey location for a better quality overall experience.

Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared.
