NOT GOOD QUALITY AT ALL. for the work that was done on my wedding dress it as way over priced and not of good quality. I asked for the cups of my dress to be bright down some and instead of redoing the hem for the bust she just folded it down and sewed it. I even got it back with pins still in the cups. Normally I wouldn't pay for a bad derive but unfortunately I had to have someone else pick it up. she charged me $330. she would only take cash and gave no receipt which tells me that they are probably not reporting their income. I decided to try this place based on the reviews. Big mistake! I wanted the waist taken in on a pair of jeans. Not only did she take in too much, the workmanship is horrendous. She charged me $16 for this shoddy work. After I pointed out to her that the seams on one side were totally off, she offered to fix it and told me to come back in an hour. Came back and she gave me the same exact jeans with nothing fixed. On top of the bad work, she wasted my time. Maybe she's good with very basic tailoring but if you have anything slightly complicated that needs to be done, stay far away. I took my husband's pants to Kim because they were too long and needed to be hemmed. We called around 10 a.m. and asked if we could drop them off later on that morning. Kim said of course and gave us directions. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and she gave us each a bottle of water. My hubby tried on his pants and she used a safety pin to mark where they needed to be hemmed. She told us they would be done by four. We called a little before four just to make sure and believe it or not, all five pairs of pants were ready to go. For under $50 we basically have five new pairs of pants. What a bargain! I bought a pair of those yoga dress pants from BetaBrand, I was SO excited to have them that I couldn't wait for my size in short to be available. Needless to say, I needed them hemmed, and being new to the area, I didn't have a place to go! I went to Kim after reading reviews, and I am so glad that I did. I walked in, she quickly directed me where to go to change, immediately noticed that I needed--- "Just the length?" I nodded yes. She pinned it up, "Is that good?" "Yes!" Okay. When do you need to pick up? Tuesday? Okay! I was so impressed. I was in there, like, 7 minutes. She obviously knows what she's doing and so sweet!! I felt like I was at an auntie's house. When I came back to pick up, they were done perfectly and it was $12. I was thrilled. I tried the seam as I was leaving, and it stretches like the rest of the garment. I've worn them multiple times and washed them with no issue. When I was there, I had heard someone complaining about the price being high..... maybe it's because I do some sewing and crafting myself, but her prices seem infinitely reasonable to me. I brought a very expensive suit here to get tailored/taken in in the back. The sewing job was horrific...the seam bubbles and does not lay flat at all...it nearly folds over itself when hanging from a hanger (I've never seen this before). When I brought it back in and asked for a refund, she offered to fix it. However, she kept insisting that it simply needed to be pressed and it had nothing to do with the sewing. It had everything to do with the sewing as I had already taken the suit to get pressed. I had a super long bridesmaids dress that I needed altered and to go to Kim's based on the reviews. I've never had to get anything altered so I was a little nervous considering this dress was expensive. I needed the strap and length shortened. She did great with the strap and it was exactly what I wanted but the length was quite disappointing. The dress is flowy at the the bottom so it's a little difficult to get it right all around but that's why I was here to begin with. The length ended up being perfect in the back but still quite long in the front. I tried it on with heels the first time around so she could pin it according to my liking but that obviously didn't make a difference. Probably, the work on your dress was outsourced and they did not think it was important to make it look polished if the seam was covered with chiffon. A bit of a language barrier could be to blame. Nobody's perfect. When Kim outsourced labor made an error on a job I gave her, I told her to fix it while I waited and not to send it back to the outsourced laborers. She personally did a fine job fixing the boo boo. S.B. said that he was not satisfied even though Kim did some work for him for free when he complained that she charged too much. Some people just couldn't be pleased no matter what you do. I have given Kim a ton of work over the years and she's always did a fine job. The one time that an error was made, I told her to fix it while I waited. She fixed it in a couple minutes and did a fine job. Yes, she is a bit more expensive than others, but she's done some real complicated jobs for me on a tight deadline. These were jobs that were turned down by half a dozen other local tailors due to the complexity and tight deadline. There are people who can sew and fix clothes and there are master tailors. Kim is a master tailor. She is the only one in the area who is able to make custom stuff for me, given a pattern. I enjoy designing cool custom clothes and handbags. I was living in Richardson earlier this year and needed some alterations for about five shirts. I called the five tailors nearest me in order to get the prices for the alterations I needed. Kim A Tailor had the cheapest by about $2 a shirt. So, I went there to find cheerful service and good work on my shirts. The lady will also offer you bottled water and fruit. And, in the end, I was charged $2 less per shirt than I was originally quoted. Also, I referred my girlfriend here to have major alterations to a Halloween costume, and everything turned out perfectly for a very reasonable price. ALL PANTS RUINED!!! She's a con artist and a hack. If you don't know by now... YES, MY EXPERIENCE WITH "KIM A TAILOR" WAS HORRIBLE. On top of KIM being an unethical SKIMSTRESS, she makes you pay upfront!! I took 4 pairs of expensive pants to have them hemmed. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WAS A PUTRID PARLOR WHEN SHE ONLY MEASURED ONE PANT CUFF. AND SAID SHE WOULD USE THAT A MEASURE FOR THE OTHER. But, that's not it. Trying to do my due diligence I asked her what kind of thread she used. Because it didn't matter how good the work was if the materials were CHEAP. Kim goes over to her table and carefully selects a twine. She lets me test a very strong nylon thread and promises me this is what she uses for all of her alterations. I test it. I almost cut my finger because it was unbreakable. Convinced, I leave my wears and she tells me to return in 3 days. 3 days later - A COMPLETE S**T SHOW. I wanted to sue. Issues: UNEVEN PANT LEGS, CROOKED SEWING, PUCKERED HEM I didn't go off. Despite the utter rage in my heart. I politely ask her to fix a pair. My favorite pair. She reluctantly agreed but wouldn't give me a time of completion. She offensively says, she'll call me when they're done. During this time, I decided to undo the hem on one of the other RUINED pair. I barely cut one stitch and it completely unraveled. The thread broke apart just by twisting it in my finggers. So then ... A week passes, and I don't hear a peep from Kim. I show up 10 days later, asking about my pants. She says they are ready. She pulls out a used plastic grocery bag with my pants inside. I immediately try them on. KIM NEVER EVEN TRIED TO FIX MY PANTS - NO NEW WORK WAS DONE. Of course, you've already paid. $$$$$ I immediately left, knowing that I would never, ever use her shop again. This place does things differently (in a good way). Just as the other reviews say, the lady was incredibly nice and offered me bottled water and fruit from the fruit bowl. I brought in a short-sleeve button up shirt to have the sides and length taken in. When marking the adjustments, instead of pinning the sides like other places do, she pulled it in from the back but said she would take it in from the sides, which I felt wasn't a very accurate way to mark the adjustments. She told me it would be ready in 2 days, which was way sooner than the other places (I took 3 shirts of the same size and brand to 3 tailors. The other 2 told me they would be done in 6 and 7 days). I went in today and the shirt was almost perfect but was a bit tight around my ribs/armpits when I reach my arms forward. She offered to adjust it in 5min if I wanted to sit and wait, which was great because I didn't want to have to come back on another day. She took my shirt and gave me a cold bottle of water that she got for me while I was still in the dressing room. While I waited, a girl came in to pick up a couple of suits for her dad. The worker seemed a little concerned that her dad wouldn't get to try them on before accepting them. The girl tried to pay with card but she worker explained that she quoted her dad a certain price because he said he would pay cash. The girl didn't have cash so the worker told her to let her dad try on the suits first and come back to pay later. I've never seen a business be this trusting before, especially when the price was $100-200. It was really nice of her. She finished my shirt within 5min, even with the interruption of another customer. Now it fits perfectly and the price was very reasonable. They might be a little hard to find if you put in their location on your GPS and their sign also isn't very noticeable but it's totally worth the stop here. My husband waited until the last possible second to take his pants to a tailor to get hemmed before he starts a new job on Monday. We live in Dallas and he took them to a well-known, highly-regarded tailor just down the highway from us. To have two pairs of pants hemmed and some material taken in on the sides on a 3rd pair, it was going to take 9 days. Just to have the two pairs of pants hemmed was going to take 5 days. I called Kim A Tailor on Saturday morning and explained the situation. "No problem," she said, and told us she could have two pairs of pants hemmed within the hour. Really? Yes. So we picked up the pants from the tailor in Dallas and headed up to Kim's. We were greeted by the sweetest lady, very polite and friendly. She promised us again that they would be ready within the hour, and if they were ready sooner, she would call. Sure enough, 45 minutes later she called to let us know they were ready. Quick pick up and very reasonable price. The pants look great! She even offered us two bottles of water for the drive home. We will absolutely drive up to Richardson in the future for all of our tailoring needs. Fair prices, quick turnaround, and very sweet, thoughtful staff. I highly recommend Kim A Tailor!! I brought her a dress that needed to be altered pretty much immediately for a wedding. I ended up finding an alternative while she was already working on the first dress, and brought her the second dress to hem. The shop is pretty easy to miss if you don't know the area, and if you miss the turn into the building, you'll have to do a U-turn and do it all over. Upon walking into the shop, Kim was extremely friendly and welcoming. I walked in around 2:15pm on a Saturday. I had a dress that I needed to get altered last minute (event that same night). The price and turnaround time was awesome! I was able to come back 2 hours later, and my dress turned out EXACTLY how I wanted.
