For me, living in East Dallas has meant never getting anything tailored. Ever. I don't care what you say about the place on Greenville, I wasn't impressed with the work, the prices or the ever-present 20-minute line. That's why I now drive all the way to Richardson to have my pants hemmed. I used Kim A's a few weeks ago and was completely blown away. Not only are they open past 4 pm on Saturdays, they are great at what they do. I had jeans hemmed, a jacket's sleeves shortened, a dress hemmed and a zipper replaced for under $70. All of the alterations were done with care and precision within a few days by some of the sweetest staff I have ever met. This place is well worth the drive. read more

Love going here to get my suit, jackets, pants, and everything else tailored to my liking. She is the best of the best, and can turn things around within 2 days depends on the work needs to be done. I fitted my suit for about $75, that includes jacket, and pants. I have recommended my wife and my family and friends, and they all loved it. She measures twice and cut once. Very precise and always produce the best results. With her price, I'm more than happy to pay her double. I have now brought several items to have Kim alter. Suite pants, wool coat, etc. She even had to special order a custom length zipper for my husband's Cowboy hoodie. She is always very polite, tells you the price up front, and never asks for more than two days to complete (maybe when she had to order a custom zipper). Tried this place because of all the great reviews, but won't be going back. I took one dress to get it hemmed 2 inches and was charged $20. I would have been fine with the price had it been excellent work, but was only disappointed when I got the dress back and realized I had received less than excellent service. I also didn't like that they didn't have any type of ticketing system. They just wrote my name on a piece of paper and stuck it with my dress. I didn't receive any type of ticket when I dropped it off. I can't imagine how many articles of clothes they loose because of this. read more

I first started using Kim's for my dress alterations in 2006. Now a California resident, I still bring my dresses and gowns to Kim's when I'm in town - her work is great, and her prices are unbeatable! Not to mention she's super sweet with quick turn-around times! I don't think I would trust anyone else around here with $500+ dresses and $1200+ gowns. Service in person by the ladies was decent but the quality of the work was less than i had hoped for. I had her hem a few jersey dresses and while the resulting hem length was okay the actual sewing was crooked. and for the price and how easy the job should have been i was disappointed. I have found my new tailor! Kim A Tailor is awesome! Kim and her staff are some of the nicest people and tailors you will meet. She is super friendly and is definitely there to help you get what you need tailored done. I went in to get a few inches off a formal dress I bought at a consignment store and Kim did it wonderfully! Her prices were fair and I was caught off guard by the random discount I got (maybe cause I paid in cash)! Thanks Kim!! The place isn't anything fancy, and maybe other tailoring places are slightly cheaper, but Kim is so fast at what she does and makes me so comfortable that I am sticking with her! She is very friendly but if you need to get a suit altered I would take elsewhere. You either know how to alter suits or you don't. I needed the sleeves shortened, take in the sides of my coat and my pants hemmed. Very basic alterations for a suit... 3 trips later and $116 out of pocket I got a sub par looking suit. To sum it up the sleeves were not even, the way she took in the sides made the bottom of my coat have a significant flare and the created these lines between the shoulders. She did however, work with me to fix what she could but for the price you might as well to go to where you initially bought the suit or any place that actually sells suits that offers alterations to get what you need done. read more

I thought it was a good place to get fixed my clothes but it was a big mistake.... She is the rudest person I have ever seen... She got my dresses and didn't tell me the price... When I go to get them she asked me $40 which I haven't have that much with me.... It was two dresses to fix little ...And she said "if you don't have money I won't give you your dresses... I don't know where all these people who had a great experience went, because it wasn't here. I needed to have my bridesmaid dress that was purchased out of town altered (I needed to have the top taken in about 4" and the bottom hemmed) and because of all of these reviews I choose this business. I dropped the dress off and I was told that it would be ready the following Saturday. Well, the following Saturday, the dress wasn't even touched. I was promised it would be ready the following Saturday. So, I went back and this time the dress was hemmed too short and one of the sides must have been taken in crookedly because one side of the zipper in the back was about 1/2" shorter than the other side of the zipper and the bottom of the zipper was buckled. I was upset, but I was promised that it would be fixed. I went back the following Saturday and the zipper was "fixed" by having an angle put in the back of the dress to try to disguise the mismatch. Also, to "fix" the length mistake that the shop made, a band was cut off the inner lining and had been sewn on to the bottom of the dress with the worst sewing I've ever seen. No care was taken with the sewing so the fabric is gathered and the quality of the sewing looks like someone did it as fast as they possibly could with no regard for the quality in a rush hack job. So, now I have a two inch wide gathered band at the bottom of my bridesmaid dress that is a horrible eyesore. Fortunately, the dress has a chiffon overlay so it can only be seen when I'm walking, but it's really embarrassing and ghetto. In summary, I was charged $80 to ruin my $200 dress. read more

I had the same experience as Karen W. My family and I had been going to Kim A Tailor for years to get pants hemmed. She was always extremely nice and did a very good job. She always had wedding dresses hanging and was an awesome tailor, therefore, I decided to take my wedding dress to her to be hemmed. It was ivory satin with a lace overlay. She first cut the satin(not the lace thank Goodness) too short. I told her to fix it. I came back for my next fitting and the way she "fixed it" was by putting a large piece of pure white non satin fabric in the MIDDLE of my dress. The middle. A complete eyesore even with the lace over it. Maybe if the piece would of been the same color and fabric, it wouldn't of been noticeable. She "fixed" that by putting beads over the seam. Still an eyesore. I had paid her before the work was done just because I had known her for so long and thought she was very reliable. What a mistake. When I called to confront her and get my money back, she just kept saying...."it came from the manufacturer that way." I did not get my money back, and there was no way I was going to let her touch my dress again after that. I ended up paying more for alterations to fix the dress than I did for the actual dress. Miserable experience. Based off of Wai Y's comment, I now understand what happened. I just wish she would of been upfront that she outsourced the work and they screwed up. If I would of known that, we maybe could of worked something out. Seems Kim is great with everything else besides dresses. If you go to get a dress hemmed beware and apparently ask ahead of time if she is going to outsource any work. Just can't express how horrible of an experience this was. read more
