I took my son and his friend there today and my so' and I had one scoop of ice cream in a cup and his friend had one scoop in a waffle cone. It was over $25!! I will never again pay that much for so little. It's crazy to think of paying $25 for one scoop of ice cream each. There was no one else in the store and the server was nice. John went with ice cream, he almost always has room for ice cream and we took a seat off St George St to enjoy our treats. Have been a patron of Kilwins in many cities, for many years. I stopped at the beach walk location on my way home from the airport. My husband and I got ice cream but also purchased two dipped marshmallows to go. The plain caramel marshmallow had an off putting taste, as if it is picking up something in the cooler, a gas or odor. I had my husband taste it as well and he also said it was not right. I called kilwins, thinking they may want to check the remainder of them. I've had this hundreds of times, but perhaps it would turn off someone that was purchasing for the first time. The girl asked if I wanted to come in for a replacement, I explained I live in vilano beach and was not headed that way soon, but maybe she could make a note. Honestly, it was not that big of a deal. She was not sure how to proceed, so she apparently called her manager. She came back to tell me her manager said I have to drive the item back to the store. I just found that ridiculous! You have a case of them... try one! Why would I drive to the store for a $3 replacement, of a half eaten treat. Were they going to try mine? I honestly called so they could maintain the quality that I'm used to, but since they definitely don't provide the customer service I would expect, I'd never go back. No business sense! People open businesses, and rely on a franchise name to sustain them because their management and business sense are lacking. They had a customer just calling to offer feedback, I never asked for a replacement but they lost my business on principle. There were better ways to handle it and I hope you do realize the caramel marshmallows are not right and do not continue to take people's money! We ordered some fudge and pralines. The chocolate peanut butter fudge is really good. Super creamy! The pralines have a good, soft texture but they have a very artificial taste to them. The real winner was the mint chocolate chip ice cream. Such good mint flavor and nice big chunks of chocolate throughout. Warmed house-made waffle cones make it even better! read more

Yes, being located on St. George Street the place is very touristy, can become crowded, the waits long and at times all the seating is gone. The service can also become real iffy. On the good side Kilwin's Chocolates really has some great ice creams along with a lot of done in the store hand crafted items and ingredients like their caramels, corns and brittles. So, it is more than an ice cream shop. It's a confectionary. I've had a few of their items over the years but most recently one of their chocolate Sundays which I found to have a good solid robust in chocolate taste. If I were going by ice cream alone, I'd go four stars but because of the delays in service and the not all that great outdoor seating, the best I can do is a Three Stars, OK. read more

I must love this place because [never fails] I always come here at some point whenever I'm in the Quarter. I know. It's such a tourist trap, but I can't help myself. I think the smell of the waffle cones just draws me in and then...BaM! I'm googling over the fudge area and caramel coated confections behind the glass cases. I recommend the Rocky Road fudge and the Pecan Snappers (a.k.a. Turtles) if you're into nuts like me. Moving on... I usually find myself fawning over which ice cream flavor I want. You really can't go wrong with their Old Fashioned Vanilla and their Pistachio in a waffle cone, but hey, there's other flavors from which to choose. You do you. I pretty much don't look at anything else but what I've mentioned. They offer the caramel apples and other uniform truffles.... Meh, those never appeal to me. Just stick with the sweets that you know are made in the store and that you can tell were made recently or just ask. With proper discernment, you can pretty much tell the difference or, like me, stick with the fudge and ice cream. Those are your safest bets. read more

Went again on a hot, springy day with my boyfriend and some friends, and guess what, it was awesome again! The line went by fast ans the workers were so on top of it. It was my first time getting a waffle cone from here and after eating it I don't ever think I'll get a cup or cake cone ever again!!! The cones are cooked fresh every so often and the crispiness and the taste are beyond amazing. The ice cream itself was very soft. I had pistachio again, my favorite (okay, next time I'll try something else, dually noted). And despite what you think, everyone's 1 or 2 scoop order will be the same for whatever cone or cup it's in. By this I mean they weigh the ice cream so it's equal for everybody, which is something I've never really thought about. It's a bit pricey for a scoop on a waffle cone $5-ish + tax, BUT it was soooo good. And it wasn't just good because it was hot :P read more

Kilwin's is a well-known chain so I make a point of stopping when I see their sign. I was not disappointed at this one. Kilwin's is delicious and super fun! The ice cream is creamy and super yummy. You can watch them make the waffle cones, which are especially good. They have more than just ice cream, though! Don't miss out on the chocolate and/or caramel-dipped apples, marshmallows, rice krispy treats, oreos, graham crackers. Plus their truffles are delectable! There is a section with sugar-free chocolate as well. Was in St. Augustine with a couple of kids, and we were never able to pass by without going inside and grabbing a treat - it's too inviting! The staff are quick to answer questions and retrieve your ordered items, but sometimes it takes a long time to pay and there often seems to be confusion about who's waiting in line and what has been ordered. Make sue you are clear on what items you are paying for, so you order isn't confused with the many people who will inevitably be standing around you licking their ice creams. read more

I wasn't really impressed with Kilwin's, but it did the trick when I needed some chocolate. I purchased some fudge, sugar free white chocolate, and a bag of the salt water taffy. I thought the prices were okay, although they were on the high side. The fudge tasted like icing and had the consistency of it, too. The sugar free white chocolate didn't taste anything like chocolate. I think the salt water taffy was stale because I almost cracked a tooth trying to bite into it. Cute little scoop shop at the end of St. George St. Provides the perfect cool treat on a hot Florida day. Plenty of flavors to please everyone's palate. The ice cream was decent, but the crowd was terrible (not really their fault -- it IS St. Augustine after all). The waffle cone that I had was rather bland, and the hot fudge wasn't quite right (I think it was overcooked). They had really good fudge, but they got our order wrong, and there was too much of a crowd for us to stand and check our order (we asked for peanut butter fudge, and they gave us the peanut butter chocolate fudge, which is completely different). What a terrible experience. Don't go here! I came in for a scoop of ice cream, a chocolate covered pretzel and a turtle pretzel. I was waiting patiently in line when a lady behind the counter, who looked like a manager, asked if she could help me. I told her I wanted to get two pretzels and a scoop of ice cream. She then tells me someone else can help me. I then have a cashier look at me then look at a guy who had just arrived at the counter and she helped him first. There was no organization and I was getting passed over. Then, I ordered and got my receipt. I was charged for two turtle pretzels.
