I was a little indecisive, so I went with a scoop of cake batter and a scoop of marshmallow s'more. Both were very good! My boyfriend had cappuccino chocolate chip in a waffle cone. He enjoyed his ice cream but didn't like the waffle bowl. He said it was too "waffley" and that next time he would get a regular cone. I wish I got the name of the girl that helped us. Terrific place on Main Street to enjoy delicious home made ice cream. They offer a nice section of standard and unique flavors. It's hard ice cream here but they are very creamy with great flavor. I had their limited edition All American Two Berry Pie ice cream and loved it. If you're a chocolate and candy apple fan they have a ton to choose from. Everything is made fresh. A Sunday afternoon. We were early for a show at the Patchogue Theater, so we decided to check out the candy store right across the street. We bought a few pretzels and fudge. I waited patiently for the (12 year old cheerleader) (I am being sarcastic) worker behind the counter to stop kidding around with the other worker girl and the guy. Ugh....stale. I love coming here for the homemade ice cream and chocolate. If you catch them at the right time you may even see them making fudge. When you walk in you are taken back to the old time feel with the black and white checkered floors. Your eyes won't know where to look first. They have an enormous selections of yummy's. Upon entering you will see beautifully dipped caramel apples, move on to their flavor for everyone freshly made fudge. Then onto the chocolate dipped everything, then a little scoot over will get you to the selection of homemade ice cream and gelatos. The staff here has the best customer service skills I've seen in a long time. They are professional, polite and well dressed. It is a pleasure to shop here. We had a number of different chocolate confections, not all pictured. The place is really nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are in a wonka factory, minus the umpa lumpas. I don't recommend licking the wall paper though. They will probably charge you for that if you do. I don't mind paying a fortune if something is really amazing, but I can't say this place was. It is good, but certainly not enough to explain why you are pawning your first born. Some of the chocolates are on the reasonable side $5 range, others obscenely $50 a pound!! I had gotten one scoop of ice cream for $7 in a rather small cup with no toppings, it was ok. For the money cold stone is better and slightly cheaper. I felt like I just found out Santa wasn't real for the first time. I bite into this thing with a twinkle in my eye. This thing was not only 3 days old but the apple sucked and wasn't juicey at all. What a great location on Main St in Patchogue! I'm a fan of this ice cream chain, they use fresh ingredients most particularly Michigan cherries (my favorite) I walked into a nice looking store and was greeted by cheery counter folks (calling them soda jerks is just wrong in this day and age) I'm asked, would you like a sample? This is another installment from the guys in Babylon who stirred between a few towns, finally deciding that Patchogue would be a great fit and vibe for them and their company. We welcome you with open arms Kilwins! (And will fill those arms with all the sweets we can carry) My girlfriend was pumped for this location to be opening in our big, little, revitalized town as she fell in love with them somewhere in the Carolinas, we stopped in when we were in Asheville recently as well and it seems it's always friendly, but I cannot in good, penny-pinching conscience go as often as I would like; my belt buckle thanks me for not going as well though. The ice cream is widely creative, creamy, and truly incredible, some of the absolute best! The fudge is super sweet and oh so... 'Fudgin-good'. My go to is peanut-butter though I really enjoyed the block of praline, and German chocolate if you dig coconut. They have a variety of other house made sweets for the picking if that's your thing, but I think the real draw to this location is the impeccable service and delicious ice-cream. The staff is nice, friendly and willing (always with a smile) to help however they can, which is always nice to see and sometimes a bit rare to find on this island. Walked in at 8:05 Sunday. The place was empty and It appeared that one girl was showing the other something about the cash register. Neither girl acknowledged us as we stood right in front of them looking at the chocolate. We waited a little while. Neither said can we help you, we we'll be right with you or any word for that matter. I would understand if it was 5 to 15 minutes before closing but it wasn't. The store closes at 9 and we were there at 8:05. I would understand if they were busy at that moment, but say something to your customers. It was just completely rude. read more

Been dying to check out this place and finally got a chance today! The service was great. The staff was very friendly and did not mind us wanting to try multiple ice creams. There was such a good variety of sweets! Heaven for a sweet lover! I ended up getting the sea salt caramel ice cream and it did not disappoint. The mix of salty and sweet was amazing. Love the chocolate chunks inside and the creamy consistency of the ice cream. I didnt purchase any of the chocolates because i found it to be quite pricy but i guess thats usually how much it cost since its made fresh, by hand. If you want delicious homemade seasonal ice cream come here! If you want pre-packaged factory made generic ice cream, keep your BR & Carvel. I would like to give them at least three stars, but the truth is I will likely not be back to Kilwins. Seeing other reviews I was so exited to try the place I ran down to fix an ice cream urge that had come over me. For me it breaks down like this. The place is OK, just OK, Not really A-OK, I would return to an A-OK place. I don't have an issue with the service received or the food in terms of quality, both were fine. As a matter of fact late on a Sunday night when it looked like they were already in the process of cleaning up for the night, the "Hello" was offered without and begrudging and truly sounded sincere. I ordered a two two-scoop sundaes one with strawberry chunk ice cream and the other with Mint chocolate chip. The strawberry had chocolate sauce over top, while the mint had caramel and rainbow sprinkles. Looking in the candy counter I found a few delectable treats to add onto he order a milk chocolate peanut butter cup and chocolate covered graham crackers. Graham crackers were business card sized but covered with plenty of chocolate and maintained their crunch. at $2 a pop, these were a little pricey but an indulgence I wouldn't hesitate to take. The Peanut butter cup was about double the size of the ones you get in the orange package. I expected a "fresh from the factory" taste, but not so much on these. They tasted like a mass produced large peanut butter cup. Nothing wrong with that at all, except if they are $5 each. When I saw the price I was a little taken aback, but I rationalized for the size and assumed freshness they were worth a try. Given the forgoing they are not worth a retry. I'll take a four pack of the king Size cups in the orange package instead and pocket at least a buck. Looking at the rest of the chocolate it seemed all prices were higher than other chocolatiers on the island. I verified this after stopping into another of my haunts a few days later. The Ice creams were OK as well, just nothing to write home about. My Sundae losses some point because the chocolate sauce was so poor. The sauce on top of the ice cream looked like it had separated leaving chocolate "water" on top and the thicker sauce had run down to the bottom of the cup. All this for the low price of a little more than $3 per scoop of ice cream. My total bill $25. I just don't see me making this trip again to get what was, besides the Graham crackers, just an OK treat. read more

Be ready to open your wallet as wide as it stretches or steer clear of this place. While everything we tried was good, the prices will keep me from becoming a regular. $15 per quart of ice cream, $10 per slice of fudge. Numbers I'd spend more willingly after putting down a few drinks. It's just insane to charge those kind of numbers even if the ice cream is high quality. And it honestly wasn't anything above or beyond what we get from other local ice cream shops. The only other thing I wanted to mention that sucks here.. They have a frequent customer punch card thingy. It sucks because I buy quarts that cost $15 which they give the same credit as if I were to buy a 1 scoop cone. Perhaps it was an oversight, but I even asked the girl "So $30 for 2 quarts gets me 2 stamps for a free cone?" Seems odd.
