We are back in Patchogue for my niece's dress rehearsal and recital that took place this past weekend at Patchogue Theater. As a treat for doing well in both events we went to Kilwins which was a quick walk across the street. What was great is that there is a crosswalk right in front of the theater which got us all across crazy Main Street safely. Kilwins in your standard chocolate shop with caramel apples, fudge, ice cream and your other chocolate treats like bon bons, truffles and soooo much more chocolatey stuff. One of my favorite things in this world in chocolate so leave me here for too long and I will get chocolate wasted. Both times I grabbed a few chocolate treats for myself including chocolate covered Oreos, cherry cordials( truffles and a raspberry and orange cream. Each were good but the chocolate was pretty standard. My niece was treated to a caramel apple for dress rehearsal and ice cream after the recital. Both were give two thumbs up by her. The place is spotless, to the point where I wouldn't worry about eating anything from this establishment. I've been to other locations but haven't been to this location since moving to the area. My boyfriend and I were in the mood for ice cream so we came here. After a few samples we made our decision. I was a little indecisive, so I went with a scoop of cake batter and a scoop of marshmallow s'more. Both were very good! My boyfriend had cappuccino chocolate chip in a waffle cone. He enjoyed his ice cream but didn't like the waffle bowl. He said it was too "waffley" and that next time he would get a regular cone. I wish I got the name of the girl that helped us. Terrific place on Main Street to enjoy delicious home made ice cream. They offer a nice section of standard and unique flavors. It's hard ice cream here but they are very creamy with great flavor. I had their limited edition All American Two Berry Pie ice cream and loved it. If you're a chocolate and candy apple fan they have a ton to choose from. Everything is made fresh. This location is large and clean with seating inside. Staff was super friendly and didn't flinch when we asked to try multiple ice creams. Not cheap here but the quality is worth it. read more

A Sunday afternoon. We were early for a show at the Patchogue Theater, so we decided to check out the candy store right across the street. We bought a few pretzels and fudge. I waited patiently for the (12 year old cheerleader) (I am being sarcastic) worker behind the counter to stop kidding around with the other worker girl and the guy. Ugh....stale. I love coming here for the homemade ice cream and chocolate. If you catch them at the right time you may even see them making fudge. When you walk in you are taken back to the old time feel with the black and white checkered floors. Your eyes won't know where to look first. They have an enormous selections of yummy's. Upon entering you will see beautifully dipped caramel apples, move on to their flavor for everyone freshly made fudge. Then onto the chocolate dipped everything, then a little scoot over will get you to the selection of homemade ice cream and gelatos. The staff here has the best customer service skills I've seen in a long time. They are professional, polite and well dressed. It is a pleasure to shop here. We had a number of different chocolate confections, not all pictured. The place is really nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are in a wonka factory, minus the umpa lumpas. I don't recommend licking the wall paper though. They will probably charge you for that if you do. I don't mind paying a fortune if something is really amazing, but I can't say this place was. It is good, but certainly not enough to explain why you are pawning your first born. Some of the chocolates are on the reasonable side $5 range, others obscenely $50 a pound!! I had gotten one scoop of ice cream for $7 in a rather small cup with no toppings, it was ok. For the money cold stone is better and slightly cheaper. Ok so I just went to this shop. I spent 25 dollars on 2 scoops of ice cream and a Caramel apple. The icream was top notch. However the caramel apple which was 13 bucks was a complete disappointment. Typically they run a special, buy two pounds get one free. About $25 for 3 "bricks" of fudge. Yes, the fudge and other chocolates and ice cream are pricey BUT this isn't basic chain ice cream or chocolate. The quality surpasses other places by far. The ice cream is some of the most fresh and creamy I have ever had. And if you order mango ice cream, you're tasting mango. Real mango. What a great location on Main St in Patchogue! I'm a fan of this ice cream chain, they use fresh ingredients most particularly Michigan cherries (my favorite) I walked into a nice looking store and was greeted by cheery counter folks (calling them soda jerks is just wrong in this day and age) I'm asked, would you like a sample? (And will fill those arms with all the sweets we can carry) My girlfriend was pumped for this location to be opening in our big, little, revitalized town as she fell in love with them somewhere in the Carolinas, we stopped in when we were in Asheville recently as well and it seems it's always friendly, but I cannot in good, penny-pinching conscience go as often as I would like; my belt buckle thanks me for not going as well though. The ice cream is widely creative, creamy, and truly incredible, some of the absolute best! The fudge is super sweet and oh so... 'Fudgin-good'. My go to is peanut-butter though I really enjoyed the block of praline, and German chocolate if you dig coconut. They have a variety of other house made sweets for the picking if that's your thing, but I think the real draw to this location is the impeccable service and delicious ice-cream. The staff is nice, friendly and willing (always with a smile) to help however they can, which is always nice to see and sometimes a bit rare to find on this island. Walked in at 8:05 Sunday. The place was empty and It appeared that one girl was showing the other something about the cash register. Neither girl acknowledged us as we stood right in front of them looking at the chocolate. We waited a little while. Neither said can we help you, we we'll be right with you or any word for that matter. I would understand if it was 5 to 15 minutes before closing but it wasn't. Been dying to check out this place and finally got a chance today! The service was great. The staff was very friendly and did not mind us wanting to try multiple ice creams. There was such a good variety of sweets! Heaven for a sweet lover! I ended up getting the sea salt caramel ice cream and it did not disappoint. The mix of salty and sweet was amazing. Love the chocolate chunks inside and the creamy consistency of the ice cream. I didnt purchase any of the chocolates because i found it to be quite pricy but i guess thats usually how much it cost since its made fresh, by hand. If you want delicious homemade seasonal ice cream come here! If you want pre-packaged factory made generic ice cream, keep your BR & Carvel.
