I took my niece to Mickey's for an afternoon treat while in NY, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a bright, cheerful atmosphere and a display case packed with tempting options. Whether you're an ice cream enthusiast or just have a sweet tooth, Mickey's has something for everyone: traditional ice cream, cakes, hand made pies, premium pints, non-dairy options, and their famous ice cream sandwiches (yummm). There were so many flavors and treats to choose from that it took us a while to decide! I loved seeing the grab-and-go pints, such a great idea for busy families or for bringing dessert home. Before making my final choice, I sampled the cookie dough ice cream (which was rich and packed with doughy pieces), but I went with a scoop of Java Chunk in a cone with chocolate sprinkles. The flavor was spot on! A perfect blend of coffee and chocolate chips. My niece opted for her all-time favorite, cotton candy with rainbow sprinkles. The look on her face was pure joy. We took our treats outside and enjoyed them in the seating area, which was spacious and comfortable, perfect for relaxing on a sunny day and making the most of the beautiful weather. My niece told me it was the best day ever when we were enjoying our ice cream, so safe to say this place does it right. read more

Wife and I stopped by here for the first time during St James day. We both had coffee ice cream affrogato. Wow was it good. I also had some Nutella on it. The Ice cream is top notch and they have a little area our back with tables to eat and a fire pit thing. Looks like they have a lot of events and stuff for the kids. They also have some ready to take home deserts and sundaes and things. Very friendly staff and well with a visit if you are in the area. read more

I can go on and on about Mickey's ice cream forever! I have tried many different flavors but my favorite has to be the chocoholic! My friends and I typically get 4 pints (buy 3 get 1 free) and keep them in my freezer and eat straight out of our own tub of ice cream - that is how much we love this place. Marvin likes their milkshakes which I also get occasionally, depending on my mood. If you get chocoholic in the milkshake just beware that the chunks kind of collect at the bottom! I also appreciate that they have non-dairy options which I have try still. read more

This is legitimately my favorite ice cream store in the world. And I've had ice cream in many countries and certainly all around New York. The ice cream is delicious, the toppings are unique and delicious and the workers are fantastic. Can't ask for much more with the only concern being it's too close to my new house and I'm fat enough already. read more

Delicious local homemade ice cream. You really can't go wrong here - I'm addicted to the buttery pieces in the chocoholic. But a large range of flavors that don't rotate much. Note you can buy 2 quarts get one free, which is a dangerous proposition. Often a wait with screaming children so be prepared. Also sells cookie sandwiches and cakes. read more

WHoaaaaaaa, you had me at FREE TOPPINGS! We were looking for ice cream near Stoney brook and tried this place! oMG, sooo glad we did. I would say that this might be one of the best ice cream places I've been to, and I have been to a lot on Long Island and elsewhere . Their ice cream is made for them off site. This is a free standing beautiful white building with plenty of parking in their parking lot and a large outdoor area with many picnic tables. In addition to their regular flavors, they have some fantastic dairy free and vegan ice cream choices! The ice cream flavors we bought had lots of large chunks of whatever they said, large pieces of chocolate in the cherry bomb flavor . I wasn't going to get any toppings, since the ice cream had so much in it, but just couldn't turn down the free toppings, so I added almonds, hot fudge and whipped cream. My other companion go sprinkles, nuts, hot fudge and marshmallow . Another person got peanut butter chips! Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Service was excellent. Clearly I can't say enough, so I'll stop now. But, go there and you won't be disappointed. read more

Plenty of flavors to choose from. They are always adding new options too. Place is located in the heart of the town and is a welcome addition. This was a real happening! At 8 pm we didn't expect to see a loud children's party with a DJ and lines out the door. The line moved quickly and our ice creams were excellent. I tried the rainbow cookie & cannoli ice cream, both were very delicious. Everyone enjoyed their ice creams. There was an endless assortment of flavors & I'm happy there are junior cones. Everything here is homemade and comes in small batches. A lot of regular flavors and some unusual ones: Barking Pretzel, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk, Birthday Cake & Ice Cream, Butter Crunch, Butter Pecan, Cannoli Chip, Choco-Holic, Chocolate Peanut Butter Ripple, Peaches & cream, Coconut Caramel Chip, Cookies & Cream, Cookie Monster, Cotton Candy Confetti, Java Chunk, Mint Chunk Chip, Moose Tracks, Peppermint Bark, Pistachio Almondine, Rainbow Cookie, Rocky Road, Rum Raisin, Vanilla Raspberry Swirl, Vanilla Peanut Butter Ripple, White Chocolate Raspberry Ripple... Great new spot in the heart of St James. Saturday afternoon, we're running around and doing our weekly errands. I knew there was a new Ice Cream Shop opened on Lake Ave, the flags outside caught my eye as we swung into the parking lot. The first thing I noticed is how large everything is, from the parking lot to the outdoor deck, Mickey's Ice Cream Kitchen is ready to have a party! Walking inside, its a nice looking spot with window seating up front. There's a case with grab & go homemade ice cream sandwiches. The flavors look amazing and there are multiple selections. The girl behind the counter was helpful and answsered all our questions. My wife wanted a taste of whatever I ordered so chocolate peanut butter chunk it is! sooooooo good! I also got another peanut butter flavor scoop but with pretzel mixed in? Here's the issue, when you have ice cream sitting with pretzels, the pretzels will get soft and soggy. Mickeys Ice Cream was very fresh and the pretzels tasted fresh so Total fan! Great to see a new shop opened in St James, we'll probably come here because its closer to our home. read more

Looking for a nice hometown ice cream shop nestled in the heart of St. James on Main Street, then you've come to the right place. You will not be disappointed! The ice cream choices are endless and delicious. They've got sorbets, oat milk ice cream and so much more. And you've got cone options as well. Wafer, sugar or waffle. Not sure what flavor to choose, then ask for a sample tasting and/or ask for suggestions. Not in the mood for ice cream on a cone then you can try one of their amazing shakes, ice cream sandwiches, pints/quarts to go or cakes. Whatever you fancy by way of ice cream you'll be sure to find it here. The ice-cream servers behind the counter are always super friendly and helpful. On this particular night, I especially liked being greeted by someone who appeared to be the owner as we entered. The warm vibe makes this ice cream shop feel like home and keeps me coming back. As if the ice cream wasn't enough. There are plenty of tables to sit outside and savor your treat(s). Enjoy! read more

This place is one of my favorite ice cream places in Long Island! I get the Coffee and Mint here. Both these flavors were soo good! The coffee wasn't too strong nor sweet and the mint wasn't too minty. Everything was delicious! I totally recommend coming here for ice cream if you are in the area. The consistency and range of flavors for the ice cream are fantastic! Terrible and rude service with less than mediocre ice cream. Not deserving of the previous high reviews.

Mikey's Ice Cream in St. James delivers the goods. Tons of flavors, creamy perfection, and my pretzel peanut butter scoop was a salty sweet masterpiece. Outdoor seating, parking in the back, and yeah it's a bit pricier, but totally worth every lick. read more

Nice family style place with outdoor tables to sit and enjoy family time. Ice cream seems fresh and creamy, by today's standards. Young adult servers are welcoming, patient and kind. Would give a 5 start review, if the gentleman (owner??) would have the same attributes as the employees. read more

We absolutely love Mickeys, Mickeys is such a staple in our community and they have excellent ice cream. The establishment is always clean and the staff is just phenomenal. This is Saint James' HOMEGROWN ice cream! It's an incredible, family-friendly place that has incredible flavors for everyone, like Cookie Monster for the kids, incredible coffee ice cream for the adults, and even vegan options. Their soft serve sundaes and toppings are great too, the perfect balance of homemade and comfort. This is also a wonderful place for young kids' birthday parties - affordable and interactively fun. The outdoor patio is hopping in the summertime - if you want to park in the lot during this time, come early before an event or park on the street. This place is worth the trip!!! read more

I came here after eating at St. Jame's pizza with my friend, her husband, their two kids and my son. At the time I was vegan and happily they had some dairy free ice cream for me to eat. One day I hope to come back again because I'm back to being a vegetarian and want to try to the regular ice cream. They have an awesome backyard picnic area for you to hang out and eat your ice cream and they also have some indoor seating. The set up is just beautiful so it's a great place to also hang out. My dairy free ice cream was great, my son loved his ice cream too. If you're in the area you've got to pay a visit here! read more

Wonderful ice cream option for the St. James scene. Came here after hearing about it from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Inside is clean and stark white with seating areas. Walk a little bit further and a wide variety of ice cream flavors await you. I ended up choosing the moosetracks: vanilla with fudge and reeses pieces. Overall, good! Good portion size with lots of fudge and reeses pieces. Totally kills that ice cream craving if you're in the area. I hope it sticks around to test around some funky new flavors! read more

Great ice cream at a reasonable price. Everything here is made in house. They have pretty good specials too if you want to take some pints to go. Buy 3 get 1 free or buy 2 quarts and get 1 free. The seating area outside is cool with some lights strung up. Another great thing to keep in mind is when you're shopping here you're supporting a Saint James local who owns the establishment. Mickey's ice cream is always so fresh and delicious! I had two scoops of rainbow cookie and cannoli ice cream. Both flavors had the perfect amount of rainbow cookie and cannoli shell/chocolate chips throughout the ice cream that you got a little bit in each bite. The flavor of the ice cream bases were distinct, yet subtle and not overly sweet. My husband had a cookies and cream MickStacker which was loaded with cookie pieces and fudge. Portion sizes are generous and the pricing is remarkable considering the ice cream is made fresh with obviously high quality ingredients. A bonus for us is that they are available for delivery through DoorDash, so we can enjoy their sweet treats anytime! Mickey's is definitely a summer staple for our family. read more
