Wife and I stopped by today after reading all the reviews. I had the banana split in a big waffle cone. It had bananas and fresh juicy cherries in it. Wife had the Car 54 which was coffee ice cream with cut up chocolate donuts. Donuts and coffee, for the car 54 cop theme, get it? Very friendly employees and absolutely delicious ice cream. My wife can sometimes have stomach issues after ice cream but at this place she felt fine. Maybe it's better quality or something. Definitely worth a stop by if you are in the area like at lavender by the bay read more

Outstanding service, flavor selection, and delicious ice cream. I ordered the pistachio cherry and dad got cherry vanilla. read more

Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Riverhead, New York

There's a reason why this place is so busy! The ice cream is incredible and there's such a variety of flavors, you can't go wrong! We did the ice cream flight (6 small scoops for about $11) and my ranking was as follows: 1. Cookie Monster - great chunks of cookie dough and Oreos 2. Peanut butter cup - I loved the big pieces of peanut butter cups! 3. Peconic swamp thing - a chocolate base with fudge and raspberry swirls 4. Parent trap - a special flavor of vanilla with Oreo and peanut butter 5. Birthday cake - not bad, but too much of a French vanilla flavor for me 6. Mint chip - again, not bad, but it leans too much to soapy- mint Go visit this place and select your own lineup! read more

Peconic swamp thing - a chocolate base with fudge and raspberry swirls I came into Snowflake today after enjoying the Riverhead Polish fair. For many years, maybe 15 years, I have been enjoying a cup of the Peconic swamp thing. Today, I was very disappointed since it was loaded with a lot of chocolate syrup and no taste of the raspberry swirl. I hope my next visit will be better. I don't usually post comments but since we're a long time customer, I felt compelled to state my disappointment. read more

Just the best. Having a nut allergy, I am usually restricted to soft serve. Thankfully, they always have the best flavors for soft serve! I got a banana blueberry swirl. Amazing! Adorable place, fast service. Go here after Funcho's for the best experience read more

Famous old school ice cream shop. Looks like something out of a time warp, in a good way. For a pint of vanilla and a pint of butter pecan. Both were excellent. Great non-chain shop! read more

We were next door for lunch at Funchos so it's a no brainer to walk over for iced cream after! Great service despite the long line and isn't much more than an old ice cream shop but it was delicious. A tad expensive (3 ice creams for $23) but really really good treat for rare trips out east. read more

This place is a gem. The minute you walk in the door, the warm greeting from the staff tips you off that you're someplace special. The recipe to the Snowflake experience is the same as their approach to Ice Cream. Pick the best ingredients, keep things simple, and care about what you do. Ok. The Ice Cream. It's the best. Each and every flavor and treat I have tried is the best I've ever had of whatever it is. Best soft serve, best Ice Cream Sandwich (the cookie ones are addictive) and, my personal holy grail of Ice Cream Flavors...Black Magic Woman. This stuff is stuck on a desert island, last meal on death row, pick one thing you can only eat for the rest of your life worthy. PS I really like it. Insider Tip: people I really love get a Snowflake Ice Cream cake for their birthday. Do not pass on a chance to enjoy this place. read more

Depends on the audience. In my opinion worst ice cream I've ever hard. I got the cookie dough. It was plain, flavorless, really put the vanilla in VANILLA because it tasted like I was eating frozen water. The hot fudge wasn't hot and just hardened. The cookie they add for decor was the best part. read more

We stopped in during our day trip out east. We got a mango sorbet and the flavor of the week blueberry crumb cake with whipped cream and blueberries on top. The blueberry crumb cake was amazing! The mango sorbet was good as well. For a Monday afternoon, the place had a long line, but it moved quickly. Plenty of places to sit outside and decent prices. We'll be back if we are ever out in that area. read more

As always, we could not pass up a visit to Snowflake. Ice cream is my krytonite! This time I tried the Cookie Monster and really liked it. My gal had the flavor of the week, Caffeinated Turtle, coffee ice cream with caramel, pecans, and dark chocolate flakes. It was delicious. A few weeks ago they had Polish Blackberry Brandy ice cream which was terrific. The flavor of the week specials are always pretty darn good, as is their regular flavors. read more

Discovered this local ice cream shoppe a few years back and have coming back ever since. Pictures are from my many visits. Their homemade ice cream is unique with flavors like Peconic Swamp Thing, Black Magic Woman, Cookie Monster, and Cotton Candy. Of course, you can find the usual fan-favorite flavors of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip and cookie dough. The Peconic Swamp Thing and Black Magic Woman and Peanut Butter Cup Crunch are my favorites. Service is friendly despite it always being busy regardless of what time of year or day it is. They also have soft serve ice cream, shakes, sundaes and cakes! They even have ice cream for your fur baby dogs. If you're looking to sit to eat your ice cream, there are limited benches and tables. We usually eat in the car. But we're not here for the ambiance, we're here for the ice cream. For the cone sizes prices are reasonable and the ice cream is creamy and delicious! You'll be happy and satisfied. An ice cream lover's delight for sure. read more

Ordered the black magic woman. It's chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge, chocolate crunchies, and chocolate chips. Absolutely delicious and the best combination of all my fave toppings! It's a small store so it definitely gets crowded when it's busy. But the staff are fast and efficient at taking orders. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in the area again. read more

If you know, you know. Snowflake has cracked the code on how to create the perfect homemade ice cream consistency. I have no idea what they put in this ice cream to get it as creamy and decadent as it is, but it just hits different than any other ice cream I've tried. If you're coming here during the summer season be prepared to wait in line, but I promise it'll be worth it. Snowflake has a roster of signature flavors, including a few you may have never heard of that are proprietary to them like the Black Magic Woman (chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips, chocolate fudge and possibly some other chocolate thing I'm missing). That and the cherry pistachio (pistachio ice cream with black cherry chunks) are my two go-tos. They have a rotating special flavor, last week when I went it was a Rainbow Cookie ice cream which was delicious, but felt like I was cheating on my signature flavors. That said, if you're coming to Snowflake, do it the right way. Ask for samples, but don't hold the line up with your decision making. Tip the hardworking kids who are scooping here day in and day out. Try not to get too hung up on the price. If you're looking for a better value, order two pints to get their discount. The ambiance here is casual, it's a walk up counter with no seating at all, so prepare to enjoy your treat elsewhere -- bonus points if you're courteous enough to give up your parking spot and find somewhere else with a view to devour it, since this parking lot gets packed. read more

The best ice cream, very adventurous flavors. Great staff always welcoming. Will definitively recommend and come back when I am in the area. read more

Solid ice-cream spot in Riverhead! I tried pistachio cherry and black raspberry in my small sized cup. The scopes of each flavor were huge. The total was ~$6.75 though so I think it is on the higher end for creameries. The spot was definitely busy but I got lucky with a short line when I reached. I enjoyed the flavors. The staff were friendly and allowed me to sample a few flavors too. Get the lid for your cup so you can have some ice-cream later! It was too much for me to have in one go (and I love ice cream and firmly believe in having a second stomach for dessert!) read more

Honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The Black Magic Woman is a must have. It's a chocolate lovers dream with a chocolate base, dark chocolate fudge, crunchy bits. Very rich but SO flavorful. Be prepared to wait a bit if the weather is nice. It's so worth it though. Parking can be a little annoying because it shares a lot with the Mexican restaurant right next door (which is also fantastic). I love the old school vibe of the place itself. read more

Be prepared to wait in line to get your ice cream fix. The soft-serve is rich and dense and one of the best soft-serve sundaes that I have had on the island - chocolate syrup is rich, sweet and thick and it's topped with a pirouette cookie. Traditional hard ice cream is equally good, with a nice selection of flavors. Great place for a favorite summer treat. Stop by next time you're out east! read more

Went here after dinner to have some dessert. This shop is a small i would say "old school" ice cream shop and very clean on the inside. The flavor selections pretty large and has something for everyone. I went for a simple vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles and as simple as it is it was delicious and creamy. My girlfriend went for the "Cookie Monster" ice cream and that too was great with flavor and nice and creamy as well. They also can do any of their flavors in shakes and have multiple soft serve flavors as well. read more

During our weekend in Riverhead, we managed to visit this place twice. Thank goodness we don't live too close. Their homemade ice cream isn't as sweet as the store bought. It's closer to gelato, creamy. I had the Black magic lady. It's a chocolate lovers' dream. It's dark chocolate and not sugary. Felt less guilty, even though their small was a packed double scoops. The staff is very friendly with a good sense of humor. Love and hate. Love the ice cream, hate my waistline. read more

So I am shocked that I had not written a review for here. I've been coming here on and off for years but now that I moved back to NY I'll try to get here more often. I had a day off recently and I decided to take a drive out this way. Usually, I try to stop here on the way home from a day in the Hamptons or if we go to the Outlets. The staff are so friendly and helpful, I only had one ice pack with me and the guy helping me was kind enough to give me two frozen water bottles so my ice cream would be ok for the ride home. My absolute favorite flavor here is the Cherry Pistachio. It's full of the really delicious burgundy cherries and the pistachio flavor is really there. I've tried other flavors too, they recently had Pineapple Upside Down Cake but I couldn't make it over to get it. Hopefully they will add it to the specials again soon. I would say it's one of my favorite ice cream shops. If you find yourself near the outlets or going out to the Hamptons, definitely worth a stop. read more

Of the couple of times I've gotten a scoop from Snowflake, each time I was struck with food poisoning. Great flavors of ice cream to choose from. Don't worry about a line of people waiting, it moves quickly.

Solid choice for ice cream. I got a waffle cone which has two large scoops of ice cream (I went with mint chocolate chip and the peanut butter cup crunch). Waffle cone was ok (may not be worth the extra $). Mint chocolate chip was pretty standard, but good quality. I was a bit disappointed by the peanut butter cup crunch (I was hoping it had the mini peanut butter cups in it, but everything seemed pretty blended together) Overall, good quality ice cream, but nothing exceptional. Also, seemed a bit pricey. read more

I don't think it's all that, but it's hard not to stop there! It's ice cream takeout. Places to sit outside so if weather isn't great, you're taking it to go. Line moves quickly, so don't pass by if you see large crowd waiting lines out the door. It's a tradition, and one that shouldn't be missed. But I don't think their ice cream tastes any better than any other ice cream place. That said, will probably be here at least 10 times this summer. Always are. read more
