good pitstop in the middle of Williamsburg! stopped in on a saturday afternoon. while there's a long line, it does move decently quick. i got a lightly-sweetened iced hojicha latte and a charsiu pork onigiri. both items were made nicely. they made the onigiri to order and it was fairly hot when i got it. i do wish there was more pork filling tho. pretty okay experience, will stop in again if in the area. read more

I came in today, as I didn't realize there was a newer location of Kijitora that had opened. There was a line to get inside, but once inside, the line moved pretty quickly. It's much more spacious than their previous location with quite a few tables to sit at. The service was friendly, and I didn't have to wait too long for my mango matcha latte, which was nice. The mango matcha latte was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. They have a nice assortment of cat themed items (stickers, tote bags and tumblers) along with other sundry items. Kijitora is such a cute cafe. Love the cat theme. Williamsburg location is a nice spacious location with fair amount of seating. It filled up quickly earlier on in the morning. Staff was very nice to recommend pastries and said she could make me a lavender matcha even though it wasnt on the menu. Lavender taste really came through in the matcha. I didnt even need additional syrup. The banana bread is not overly sweet. Paired well with the matcha. Such a lovely cafe with adorable merch and great location in Williamsburg. read more

I know they can't do anything about the exterior, but the stairs are narrow, and a bit high for elder people to walk up. Also be careful coming down those stairs because the streets are kind of narrow too. You need to order and then ask for the key if you want to use the bathroom. The menu is small, but the line is fast. I kind of regret not getting the mango Matcha because I saw everyone with that, maybe another location next time red bean latte was pretty unique. My Mom loved her black sesame latte, and I enjoy my strawberry matcha latte which was quite refreshing. I also recommend the AZUKI MATCHA latte. read more

Such a cute spot! Got myself a hojicha and onigiri for a quick bite the first time I came here. They have a pretty good hojicha, and the onigiri is alright, nothing special. Now the SECOND time I visited, I got their red bean latte, and if you also love red bean, this drink is an absolute gem. It's sweet but also has the subtle savoriness and earthiness of red bean. I've never had red bean lattes before and now am wondering why it took me so long to try something this delectable. Their matcha was my favorite matcha I've had in New York! Not overpowering the sakura and the strawberry flavor and felt very light compared to other matcha drinks I've had at other places. I also love their store merch and couldn't help but buy a pouch and their matcha tins. Love Kijitora! Came here on a saturday morning to escape from the cold, with some girl friends for a little morning coffee/matcha date. This location is a little bigger than their mini location and it has some seating inside. I got the miso salmon onigiri rice ball which was so good. The only thing is that was a lot of rice when I took the first few bites, but the salmon was very tasty. My friend and I got the iced strawberry matcha latte which we lovedd. I finished mine too quick, and It's definitely one of the best strawberry matcha lattes that i've ever tried. My sister in law got the tiramisu latte which she enjoyed, but she did note that it was very sweet. We enjoyed hanging out in the cafe. It feels so zen inside and the ambiance is so nice. Stumbled upon this adorable Japanese cafe that's completely cat themed, and of course I had to stop in and check it out! It's honestly the cutest place ever!! I ordered the iced black sesame latte with white chocolate cream and it was so good. Definitely recommend this one! Super rich, smooth, and really well balanced. I also tried the miso salmon onigiri (rice ball) for $4. It was just okay. I didn't really taste the miso, and it was mostly rice with very little salmon. A bit dry overall... I'd come back for the drinks though. They have some really interesting latte flavors on the menu that I'd love to try next time. read more

After some shopping in the area, I stopped by for a drink. The space is spacious, but could use some tables and chairs as the center is left quite empty. I ordered the Mango Matcha Latte ($7.75) with Oat Milk (+$0.75). Make sure you mix the drink really well, so you get a good balance of mango and matcha. I almost drank this too quickly as it was such a nice combo that worked well together without overpowering. Also tried my friend's Miso Mocha ($6.75), which was too strong in saltiness for me. Stick to the matcha here IMO. And I like the various flavors of matcha they offered too. read more

I was touring my cousin around on a Sunday in Brooklyn when we came across KIJITORA. The place was crowded and with no ventilation...no idea how people can sit inside. Even though it looked crazy from afar, the folks behind the counter kept the line moving and gave us our order in ~5 mins. My cousin ordered a Strawberry Matcha, which I happily took a sip of. As someone who never drinks coffee/matcha this was probably the best Matcha I've ever had in my life. It was sweet and not too bitter. The strawberry mixed in was so delightful. You might miss it because it's technically not on the ground floor. There's a small set of stairs that lead to the front door. I got the mango matcha and honestly it was really good. This location is a solid 4 for the grilled cheese sandwich. I'm not a fan of grilled cheese sandwich but this one is just chief kiss. I really enjoyed the buttery and a little but it salt on the bread with the mozzarella and turkey. I'm just thinking about wanting another one while I'm writing this. As for the strawberry matcha, it was ok. Not enough matcha flavor for me. I don't taste the umami. The matcha is pretty much premade. They just poured it into the cup with the scale. Ive been here too many times and am obsessed with their cafe. They have the cutest cat decoration all over the cafe. They also have one of my favorite matcha lattes in nyc. This location is more chaotic and bigger than the other location in williamsburg. It's not super clear how the line starts and end. And the space is very tight in front of cash register. The design of the cafe is one of those things where you take for granted things that just make sense, until it doesn't make sense, you wonder why they ever deviated from established patterns. For an "easy" fix that doesn't require remodeling too much. I recommend swapping the location of cash register with where you pick up the drinks/food. For an ideal feng shui overhaul, I would move that whole area closer to the front and put seating in the back. Matcha is good but logistically speaking, I prefer the other location a couple blocks away. It was way too chaotic here on the weekend read more

Stand in line for these well-crafted drinks and food-went to 2 different cafes-they were within a few blocks of each other. One mainly serves drinks and there I enjoyed a hojicha latte. At the main cafe, I had an adzuki bean matcha which was good should have asked for something to make it a bit sweeter. For lunch I had the ume onigiri, but was really the star was the miso salmon onigiri. The only con is that the seating is a bit tight. Glad to see Kijitora's opened a new & bigger location in Brooklyn! Unfortunately when we came a month ago there was no AC and not much seating (only along the edges, no tables in the middle). Not sure if it's changed now as they've gotten more solid. The matchas are always solid, I can't help but get a strawberry latte especially in the summer. I've also had their hojicha which tastes a bit more nutty than the matcha. read more

Today I visited Kijitora for the first time. I initially stopped by the Driggs location but didn't order there since they did not have the onigiri balls. Even so, the baristas at that location were incredibly kind and helpful. I then went over to the 7th and Bedford location, but unfortunately didn't experience the same warmth or level of customer service. The tall woman who took my order didn't come across as very friendly, which is why I'm giving one less star. That said, the miso salmon onigiri ball and strawberry matcha latte were absolutely phenomenal! I may try another location next time in hopes of a friendlier experience, because the food and drinks themselves are definitely worth it. read more
