I enjoyed this place many years ago but the quality declined over the years and I can no longer recommend it since the staff and business itself are "tired" at this point. It may be ok if the kids are really hungry and you happen to be in the neighborhood at the zoo or park, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here in other circumstances. I believe they actually have kids cooking the food. The french fries were fried to a crisp-tasted like we were munching on number 2 pencils had the same coloring and everything but eraser. It is walking distance from my homestead, and I had already been quite debaucherous all weekend and decided, "what harm could one more sketchy fast food burger do?" On a recent trip to Seattle, We were heading to the Zoo and sadly found out that it was closed at 4pm, The time we had arrived. Oh well. We got to Seattle around 1ish and still hadnt grubbed. Stopped in this past Saturday for lunch with a friend. Kidd Valley certainly has it's good and bad points: Pros: The place seems very clean. Even the restroom was clean for a place that has that high of a customer turnaround. The Chicken Club burger was really good. The chicken was cooked well, and the lettuce was fresh. Cons: The middle-aged fellow working the counter looked like he'd rather be anywhere else than here. Not friendly, and actually kind of rude to some ladies in front of us that were still deciding on what to order. We ordered the fried mushroom/onion ring combo. Had to throw it away. The onion rings were not cooked well and the grease was dumped into the container with the mushrooms and rings. My friend summed it up well with "Ewwwwwwww!". I was surprised that there were no other condiments besides ketchup. No mustard, no vinegar (for mushrooms). It would also be nice if water was available. A great place for a vintage hamburger shop experience. Thick cut fries (plain or garlic), delicious milkshakes, onion rings, and variety of good old fashioned hamburgers. Portions are on the larger size so you can easily have a burger and split a side item. I wouldn't call Kidd Valley the best burger you'll ever have, but you can expect a good quality, consistent hamburger, at a reasonable price and a place to sit down. One drawback to this location is their tiny, awkward parking lot that is difficult to get to, at the corner of the 5 way stop at Green Lake Way and 50th St. read more

If you are in a fix for dinner and want something quick yet still good Kidd Valley fits the bill. Prices are great for what you get. If you are feeling like you really don't want to live past 50 I recommend the Double bacon burger with cheese. After wandering through the delights of Woodland Park Zoo's WildLights, my date and I were looking for a quick, easy dinner. We'd been to this Kidd Valley before and decided to just grab something and go. We came in literally one minute before closing, but the staff were kind enough to let us place our order before they closed up for the night. We ordered our usuals: a mushroom burger for him, with large drink, and a bacon cheeseburger and a regular milkshake for me. I got the eggnogg milkshake (a seasonal special!) and it was delicious! It wasn't too rich, but still thick and creamy. We took our orders to go, and couldn't wait to get home to scarf down our burgers. As usual, there was no disappointment to be found! I wish we'd thought to order the garlic fries, like we did on our first visit. Still, since that was our only regret, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone! read more

But something that REALLY & TRULY bothers me...... going into a business where you have to give your order up front, and the only cashier is carrying on a conversation with a previous customer, and you're standing there, waiting to give your order. HELLO, DO YOU SEE MORE CUSTOMERS HERE, WAITING TO GIVE YOU OUR MONEY???? Now, I understand that you need to be friendly. And if you have a regular customer in your business, you will strike up a conversation. But, you NEVER ignore other customers to do this. It's extremely frustrating, and highly unprofessional. So I went to the Zoo for a trip and the whole time I was there, I was just thirsty, but never hungry. Go figure. But the minute I left and started driving, my stomach started to growl. I was still in the midst of my sightseeing so I wasn't going to stop back at my hotel. So I just stopped by something that was quick and this was it. It wasn't crowded, only a pair of girls on the patio area and one person eating inside. It was about 3 in the afternoon so no lunch time rush. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and fries. Fries were all right, nothing to write home about. I enjoyed the sandwich more. It was a chicken sandwich with swiss cheese and bacon. The bacon made it as it helped give the sandwich flavor. I haven't tried the meat burgers but the veggie burgers are the absolute best. I would assume from trying the veggie burgers the meat ones would be equally as good. If this review was for the burgers alone, it would probably be 4 or 5 stars. They aren't the best burgers in Seattle, but they are pretty damn tasty. The problems for me start with their side items. The garlic fries are just fries with a giant spoonful of minced garlic (from a jar, not fresh) piled on top after they're bagged. It's way too intense. The regular fries are okay, but nothing special. The onion rings and fried mushrooms are both kind of lacking and overly greasy. The sweet potatoe fries are pretty tasty though. The staff are also not the friendliest. I don't really demand much of a place like Kidd Valley, so it doesn't bug me too much, but sometimes the manager just seems really unhappy. I've also seen some of the kitchen staff come out of the bathroom and walk right past the hand washing sink into the kitchen. Now, they may be washing their hands in the bathroom, but I know health code requires that employees wash their hands in the bathroom AND at the handwashing sink behind the counter, and if they are skimping on that health code then it makes me wonder what else they are cutting corners on. The shakes are tasty, especially the peanut butter shakes (note to peanut allergies, don't order any shakes). I still end up going here somewhat regularly, I just skip the side items. And to be honest, the burgers are big enough that you don't really need them. read more
