    Ultimate Jalapeño Smash
    rebecca h.

On the hunt for best burger in Seattle and this one is at the top of my list so far.. I already liked their classic smash burger, but the new Jalapeño smash is CRAZY good!! The service is very fast and you order through your phone, it is right next to Fremont Brewing as well if you wanted to grab a beer for the wait!

A new contender for best burger in Seattle! We dropped into the brewery on a Tuesday night and the smell of grilling onions wafting from the cart was enough to entice us to stay for dinner. We got one oklahoma and one pb&j. The online ordering system was easy and our food was ready in about 10 minutes, just enough time to grab a beer and settle in. The bun was wonderfully squishy and soft, complimenting the onion and patty and sauce on the oklahoma. The pb&j was a fun twist as well, I think I'm still partial to the pb and mayo version as the jam was a hair overpowering at times, I wish there was an option to sub in mayo there, but it was a fun and novel thing to try. Definitely will be returning!

Thank you Zoey the sandwich girl. Had to come get a smash burger. 10/10!! A food truck located inside Fremont Brewery. The double smash, they all come double. With onions, cheese and smashed to perfection. You can get a single smash upon request and order. But why? Absolutely satisfying for a burger craving. Order on the QR code and they'll text you when it's ready. The regular fries were quite salty. And I'm a salty lady. But I loved it! Generously made with salt and pepper. Super hot and fresh. No complaints about it. Ambiance? It's a brewery. Plenty of seats available. Do it! Drink beer and eat good food. Parking in Fremont is a pain in the ass, let's be real. But fortunately there is a lot directly across the street. Not free, but it's ok. Worth it. To have a beer and burger. Cheers!! SYOY!!

Would Smash :D Delicious. Smashed burgers but the whole thing stacks up well with the toppings so the burger is huge and filling. I had a little trouble ordering with different QR codes found online vs in person but it worked out as a nice day to eat outside. I only wish I had time to grab a drink at the attached brewery and savor a bit more. So far this is my top smash burger in the area. Fries were unreal too with a nice spice to them.

Oklahoma burger in the Fremont Brewery outdoor patio

My partner and I went to Smash That Burger at the Fremont Brewery beer garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was crowded in the outdoor patio and there was a long line to order our beers. Smash That Burger requires you to place your order via a QR code that's posted on the side of their food truck. We ordered two Oklahoma smash burgers and a side of fries. We waited about 10 minutes for our burgers, which was okay because we were still in line for our beer! The double thin patties were seasoned well with a slight char on the edges. The burger came with thinly sliced onions, melted American cheese, pickles and their sauce on a soft bun. The flavors worked so well together to give you a tasty bite each time. The French fries were crisp and seasoned, and came in hot straight out of the fryer! The Oklahoma burger was delicious and it is the best smash burger that I've tasted. Combine the burger and fries with one Fremont Brewery's Pilsner and you have one heck of a meal in beautiful setting! We would definitely come back, but I think we would ride our bikes instead. Parking is challenging in and around the neighborhood.

I've been hesitant to lean into the smash burger craze. They've been getting more hype as a super food than sweet potatoes back in '08. Or when quinoa first made it into your Buddha Bowl in the early aughts. Alas, give me two hazy crispy bois from Fremont Brewing and I'm a weak man. The meat wafts had finally made their way to my olfactory system and I found myself walking like a zombie to the truck in order to decode their menu. I got the normal smash burger, and the saucy loaded fries. I was so excited that at this point I was having burger daydreams. When I was gifted the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of heft. I was in for a voluminous meal, and I was fired up. I ripped the fries open first, and couldn't believe my eyes. Behold - French fry Nirvana. You know when you get brownie batter ice cream and there are HUGE chunks of brownie in it? This is the savory version. Massive chunks of smash burger, jalapeños, regular pickles, fried pickles, and some sort of mayo based sauce. These are a must order. You will not regret it. Now I will say that I'm partial to an unsmashed burger. While everyone has zagged into the thin patty realm, I'm always down for a juicy big hoss of a burg. But these two smashed patties had a crispiness that keeps you coming back. They just nailed it on all fronts. Bun selection was on point with a fluffy pillow that prevented what seemed like inevitable burger leakage. Melty cheese blended everything together nicely. And the onions brought it over the top. Do yourself a favor and get one next time you're at Fremont Brewing.

Smash That Burger is known for the Oklahoma style smash burger and it's more like inspired by it than a true to definition Oklahoma smash burger due to the onions. The origin of the burgers were to stretch the burger patty with the onions but here I didn't get a whole lot of onion. Typically there's a lot more since it's being pressed into the patty before cooking to still have that onion texture. The burger also had too much sauce for my taste so maybe it covered it up too. The loaded fries are so loaded, it's basically a burger but instead of buns it's on a pile of fries. The fries are so wonderfully seasoned. It has all the fixings. Located inside for Fremont brewery as a food truck. Quick service even though it was a busy weekend.

I lived in LA, which has a vibrant smash burger scene. I ordered the Oklahoma Smash burger, which is characterized by smashing onions into the patty, and it was a stupid good burger. This burger for sure holds its own with any in Los Angeles, and it's probably the best burger I've had in seattle yet. It's the takeout window inside of Fremont brewing, and it's informal and quick service. My food was ready within 5 minutes. Pretty great, enjoy with an IPA.

Personally, Smash That Burger was just okay. It's a food truck inside Fremont Brewing so you can grab and eat your food there, which is nice especially on a nice day out. We got the Oklahoma, PB&J Bacon Burger, and fries. The Oklahoma was very dry even though there was sauce in it. The fries were soggy and lacked flavors. The PB&J Bacon Burger was pretty good and I loved the sweet and savory combination, but it was very expensive ($14). There are other places in Seattle that make better burgers.

Great Burgers! I would put this truck in my top 3 food trucks rotation! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. You order through an app, and they text when food is ready. Solid system. They are now located next to Fremont Brewery, which is an ideal locatioj. I recommended the classic Oklahoma burger. Lots of seating and usually a good crowd makes this a perfect lunch spot,

this place is a little smash burger food truck nestled inside the courtyard of fremont brewery. when we came, it was packed with UW students and was very lively. there is a qr code you can scan to order your food and they will text you when your food is ready. we ordered the kimchi smash, an oktoberfest special that they had, and the spicy fries. everything came out piping hot which I loved! fries were super crispy and well seasoned. the kimchi smash was delicious. the patty had a nice crisp on the edges and the sour kimchi cut the richness of the burger. my boyfriend doesn't remember much about his burger and said it was ok :')

The Smashburger is delicious, but very messy. Mine had a ton of onions, so it was nice and flavorful. I like onions, but there was a good six or seven pickles, which was too many from my palette. We also got a single which was in my opinion, less messier and more manageable to devour. I love crinkle cut fries so I appreciated the fact that theirs were exactly that. You can't order there so all orders are done by scanning the QR code or ordering online for pick up. It's convenient if you want to grab a bite to eat and have a beer at the brewery.

Finally! I've been trying to get to Smash That Burger for a couple of months now. They have limited hours which made it difficult but boy was it worth the wait. These Oklahoma Style Smashburgers are really yummy. I have recently been on a Smashburger hunt for the best one. My favorite is Daddyburgers in Tucson, AZ so far. I hold other places to this standard. I have tried the Smashburgers at Family Friend, Moss Bay Hall, Tipsy Cow and now, finally, Smash That Burger. By far, Smash That Burger is the best in the Seattle area (so far). The food truck atmosphere and the crunchy, onion-y flavored burgers served here ROCK! They are flavorful, satisfying and absolutely delish! They are my favorite in the Seattle area. We had the Oklahoma Smash (huh?) and got "The Chester" for my elderly mom to take home. Everyone loved their burgers. The prices are right and the server/cook was super thankful and friendly. I like this style of burger and the service was awesome. This food truck is in the parking lot of the lively Growler Guys right on Lake City Way in North Seattle. You have to try this place if you're anywhere close by. You won't regret it.

The restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not asking too much. I believe the owner said he was trying to revamp the place. I hope that the area comes alive in the future years, that should help. Here's the issue though, this is the slowest spot ever. I've waited 30 minutes for fries - FRIES. I don't mind waiting for food, but it should remain reasonable. There were only two or three people working, and one man did tell us this, but I need to be honest - this was on Super Bowl Sunday. No one was able to get anyone a beer from the tap for 40 minutes, the food took forever and it appeared that online orders were being prioritized (which makes sense, you make as you get orders coming in, but that puts your in person customers in an odd and sometimes frustrating position). To be honest, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if I just had some fries to snack on. I didn't mind as much this one time because I was just happy to find a place to watch the Super Bowl Half Time show, but other days, it's a little hard to look past. I wish this business the best, I live too close to not hope for its improvement! Looking forward to updating my review. At the end of the day, if you're hungry, it's late, this is your spot.

We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. I didn't expect much out of these, but they were surprisingly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, sticky and tender, yet each grain is distinctive and almost bouncy, giving great mouthfeel. The musubi seems to be dipped in a small amount of soy sauce, although not enough to cover the entire rice surface. The additional sodium isn't really needed in the first place due to the salty and meaty kick the spam on top gives the handheld snack. It's a classic combination for a good reason! (4/5) For the Food Walk special, they only give a small scoop of mac salad. I'm sure the normal side portion for $5.94 is much larger. The salad is unspectacular but solid. It's a little sweet, a bit peppery, and certainly very creamy. There's a bit of julienned carrot included that isn't particularly crunchy, being soaked in the mayo sauce. The macaroni itself isn't mushy or overcooked, so it still has some texture. (4/5) I don't usually expect much out of food court restaurants, but Aloha Plates definitely surprised me with their quality. It seems like a solid option for Hawaiian.

Perhaps the Lao Burger served there wasn't as juicy and succulent, with perfectly crisp smashed patties as I recalled? Or perhaps Taurus Ox just serves a completely inferior version. I revisited for a Friday late dinner to reach the bottom of things. This was at around 8PM and the place was surprisingly busy, with a fully running kitchen and almost all seats taken. It's a pretty small restaurant to begin with, but since the food comes fast, people don't typically stay too long. By the time our food arrived, a table had cleared up for us. Lao Burger ($18) - This Lao Burger is just as good as my first visit. Absolutely perfectly fried smash patties, completely with lacy, crispy edges that provide texture and an intense caramelized meaty flavor. I've already described the burger in detail in my previous review - what I can say on this visit is that the burger is basically identical, indicating that Ox Burger is consistent with cook and construction. The burger as a whole has the perfect moisture level with plenty of unique funky, umami-full flavors that make each bite a delight. As with my previous review, two things come to mind that detract just a tiny bit from my full enjoyment. Firstly, the burger as a whole is a bit salty for my tastes, necessitating several trips to refill my cup of water Secondly, the piece of sliced pork belly included is kind of vestigial. It seems to be only there to add additional salt, because neither the flavor nor texture are very apparent while eating. (5/5) Deluxe ($15) - This burger is somehow way messier than the Lao to eat. Upon lifting it up, a mess of watery mustard/mayo mix drips onto the plate. I think it might be from the extra moisture in the tomatoes and lettuce. And yet, somehow the bun isn't soggy at all. This burger is otherwise excellent, combing the same picture perfect smash patties as in the Lao, with the classic fixings - American cheese, bacon, pickles, and plenty of veggie mix. (5/5) I'm glad I gave the Lao Burger another chance. It's now one of my favorite burgers in the city. I'll definitely be coming back to Ox Burger for more. The food was great for all adults involved. Portions of fries are generous and delicious, and come with fancy sauces (none of which appealed to me, but were appreciated by my family). The burgers are really inventive, so we all wanted to try the Lao. It's delicious. I did balk at $18 for just the burger, which is a smash patty (less beef) and I took the cheese, Mayo, and cilantro off. Eighteen dollars! No side, no drink.
