Decided to try Kickers as we have walked past it a few times. Our server was Evan, he was OK. The place is nice inside but way too many TV's that distract you. The views are what help make the place. I think it's good for kids and people who what a burger or fish and chips. I had an Old Fashion and not as good as most, including red cherry vs. black. My California King Salmon was fine, along with small potatoes, carrots and broccolini. My husband had to send back his seared Ahi as it was not rare as he had asked for. The restaurant was really cold because the wind from the front door blows all the way into the restaurant. Hardly anyone there on a Fri night. My husband enjoyed his burger and fries but my food was way too salty for a fish dish and the potatoes had very little flavor and were undercooked with absolutely no color on them from the pan or grill. Wish I could say something about the food but after waiting for an hour after placing our order, we still didn't get it. Our server didn't come to our table to check on us once in that time unprompted. When we wanted to order another drink, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before we were able to get her attention. Having grown up in the service industry, I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt but this was inexcusably bad. Don't let these pics fool you (isn't it amazing what filters can do?). Honestly avoid this place, save yourself the time, and your stomach the ache. Where do I start off with how horrible this place was? First: the time it took to get acknowledged by any member of their team. We walked in around 5:30pm and the place was pretty empty. Had to double check Yelp if they were really open. There was another family sitting at the entrance near us and they let us know it would probably be a while before someone came over to the hostess stand (they had waited for some time too). So they were basically doing the restaurants job of letting us know how long the wait would be. What I couldn't understand was there were plenty of employees there, just no one would acknowledge us. It took about 10 mins for someone to shout out we'll be with you in a few minutes. Another 10 before they finally came back. Honestly that's all they needed to say instead of going about their business and not making eye contact with us. Should have walked right out the door but I was hungry and didn't want to wait another 20-30 mins to get seated. We finally get greeted and seated (25 mins later-expected for a Saturday night but again, the restaurant was pretty empty-not busy). Server took our order and brings out our water. One of them has something floating in the cup so we ask for a new one. One of our appetizers comes out but we have to wait before we can eat. We have no napkins or utensils. We let our server know and his only comment is "right, you're gonna need that." I just can't reiterate how much I just wanted to leave at this point. Yes, the place has a nice view but so do the other restaurants down the Morro Bay boardwalk. Lobster roll was just dry and tasted like it was previously frozen. How they get away charging $30 something for this is mind boggling. The fennel just overpowers everything and you couldn't taste the actual lobster. Would it kill them to add a little mayo. The roll was so dry, I ate a quarter of it and then stopped. I was full of their food. The fried sampler was mediocre too, too much batter on everything. The one decent part was the steak but even that was just ok. We asked for medium rare and it was pretty much well done. Needless to say after we boxed up the leftovers (which was 2 out of the 3 entrees we got), we left and got dinner somewhere else before heading back to our hotel. We put the leftovers in the hotel fridge and threw them out the next morning. Again, there are better options in the area. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Came here on a weekday and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The waitress opened the window for us as there is no outdoor seating. We could see the otters and other wildlife from our window. The place is very cute. For breakfast, I had the Dutch baby pancake and my mom had the fritatta. The Dutch baby was pretty good, but the fritatta was delicious. I wasn't the biggest fan of the tajin being on the fruit without any notice and the waitress did offer to get us some without, but otherwise the breakfast was good. Service was very friendly. It did take a bit for everything to come out but it was fresh so I think it was worth it. Definately a nice spot. If I could do half stars it would be 4 1/2 out of 5. read more

My daughter and son-in-law were married in Morro Bay on February 22,2025. Our family chose Kickers to host a Welcoming Party for all the wedding guests the night before the big event. We had approximately 75-80 people invited and rented out the entire venue. The evening was a huge success. It was amazing to have such a beautiful event to start off the "Wedding Weekend". From the beginning, Arturo Tapia, worked with us to make the evening exactly what we had in mind. He brought us in to view the restaurant, taste the food, sample the wines, and show us his impeccable customer service. Our menu was a buffet comprised of lobster rolls, tri-tip steak sandwiches, calamari strips, coleslaw, fries, and cups of chowder. All the food selections were excellent. The bar service was great. We had an open with plenty of beer to choose from and our preselected wines. We were able to bring in decorations to accent the restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and fun! There are large picture windows along the entire back of the restaurant to enjoy the spectacular view of Morro Rock. There is also an outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful sunset and watch otters playing in the water. I cannot say enough about the superb customer service and the cleanliness of Kickers. They set the bar high for the events that followed and we are thankful they allowed us to host our celebration there. read more

Do NOT order the tri tip. The place is fairly nice and has great views. Service was nice enough. Food was so so. I had a cup of clam chowder to start. It had so much bacon in it that it was all I tasted. Great if you like bacon but it's supposed to be CLAM chowder, not bacon chowder. The menu has Santa Maria tri tip both as an entree and as a salad. I ordered the salad with tri tip. I figured, we were only an hour from Santa Maria, the tri tip should be good. It was the worst tri tip I have ever tried. A Santa Maria grill is a open grill with meat cooked hot and fast. This tri tip was COLD. Definitely straight out of the refrigerator. The worst part was that it was obviously NOT cooked on a Santa Maria grill. It was smothered in LIQUID SMOKE. Fake, artificial, smoke-flavored juice in a bottle. If you've never tried liquid smoke, imagine mixing old fireplace wood ash with water, then pouring it over your meat. The flavor lingers. I could not eat it. My Husband had a shrimp cocktail which was ok and the Marisco pasta which is also ok. Not amazing but at least edible. We paid over a hundred dollars here for dinner then went nextdoor and had dinner again with real food. read more

The Manager Lauren "was too busy to come to our table to talk". It's a Sunday night and not even close to being half full. This place is new. Give it time. Lots of time before you come here. I'll start by saying we had very good service while dining here, but nearly every table around us was complaining about their wait times, not being helped, having to sit in a sun-filled area, and just miserable. Our food was mediocre at best. The oyster shooters were good, but most of our other dishes were bland. One of the nearby tables complained to the manager about not being helped and the manager quipped back about being short-staffed and "also not having a good time." He was very unprofessional and we all made comments that maybe he should be helping more instead of standing around directing traffic. I wouldn't go back. Definitely go elsewhere for better food and a better experience. read more

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in prison? That is how it felt going to Kickers tonight. I have been coming to this restaurant in whatever form for going on two decades. Tonight, it was such a mentally abusive time like being in Shawshank. First, in the past, going on a Friday would guarantee a great time. Showing up this evening was not even close to packed. We were shown our table, and the waitress took our order. The girl playing music tonight was like a bad American Idol audition. When she finished, only one employee was way down at the end of the bar, folding towels clapped. NO ONE ELSE CLAPPED. And he clapped like he was drunk or on some other chemical. Our neighboring table could no longer stand it boxed their food and left. Kickers is trying to be something that even they have not made up what that will be. The place is small, has some TV's with sports going on, and sometimes music. This is not some party place like The Libertine was (yes, WAS, they sucked too) The girl could not play the ukulele, her amp was so loud you could not hear your diner partner. She should have been background music. When our friends went and told an employee, the employee acted as if this girl was the best thing since Celine Dion or Barbara Streisand with a dismissive comment. At least a fake apology for making their $108 dinner suck. The fact that they are not the only game in town should not be lost on this place. Businesses in Morro Bay only stay open when people want to return. Something that I will not do and advise anyone thinking of this place to not give them your money. The only positive is the food was good. To have employees, and possibly the owner, be so tone-deaf that they allow the ambiance of their restaurant to become so untenable to drive customers away, they should reevaluate what they want out of their business. All you had to do was tell her to turn it down. The saddest part is some anonymous person will answer my review with the same cut-and-paste "I am sorry you had a bad experience, and we don't like hearing bad news" nonsense showing they don't give two shits about the customer. If you are thinking of good food, go to Dorn's or Window's. read more
