I joined my good friend and his wife at Kicker's for dinner, and it was a first visit for all of us. We were pretty confident it would be a good experience based on the reviews we read beforehand. I tend to trust four-star reviews for their factual, no-nonsense approach, and they didn't steer us wrong. Our server, whose name I can't remember, had a great sense of humor and tolerated my attempts at jokes that sounded way cooler in my head. The place was spotless--clean tables, utensils, windows, and even the bathrooms. We arrived about an hour before the usual dinner rush, so it wasn't too crowded at first. As we enjoyed our meal, the dinner crowd rolled in, showcasing the restaurant's popularity. I ordered the lobster roll with Parmesan garlic fries. The dish was freshly prepared and delicious. My only suggestion would be to drizzle a bit of drawn garlic butter over the lobster roll--not enough to soak it, just a touch to enhance the flavor. The lobster tasted great, but I love that garlic and buttery combo with its sweetness. Stacy, my friend's wife, ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl. The portion size was generous, and the bread bowl was lighter than usual, making it easy to devour after finishing the chowder. The chowder itself had a hint of smoked bacon, adding a delightful twist. Definitely the best bread bowl I've ever had. My good friend Jason ordered the cod fish and chips, and they did not disappoint. The batter had the perfect crunch and a light airiness that pushed them into the heavenly category. The fish was flavorful and moist, perfectly complemented by the batter. The tartar sauce was spot on too. We enjoyed the wine, and the only minor critique I have is that the wine glasses could have been polished to avoid fingerprints and smudges. Not a dealbreaker, just a small constructive criticism. Overall, the service was great, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant with a nice view from the window. I'd highly recommend trying Kicker's out--I know I'll be going back. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our roadtrip back to Norcal--we were worried at first because it didn't seem like they allowed dogs but when we got to the door to look at the menu they said it was ok for Monty to go in with us and he just slept under the table. We got the Morro Bay fresh oyster and they were slightly salty, sweet and tasted fresh! I got the Pork Belly Burger which I thought was delicious--I have never eaten beef patty and pork belly together so it was a delicious experience and perfect for my palette. I of course ordered some clam chowder because you just gotta of you're dining next to the water right? My lactose intolerant tummy has no regrets! The Bouillabaisse soup was delicious my brother rates it 9/10 for the amount of seafood and taste! It's a super cute restaurant and cute booths and a beautiful view of the bay! 4/5 because the food took a while to come out but it might have been because they took all our orders out at the same time! The food was fantastic, the wife and I both had the clam chowder and the Cod & chips. Both were delicious, the Cod was nice and crispy outside but the inside just melted in your mouth. Served with some garlic parm fries YUM. And the chowder was the best I've had around here, just the right amount of seasoning and the perfect creamy texture. This is a horrible tourist trap with food on par with something you would find at a random hole in the wall low quality/cheap seafood restaurant in the midwest. My gf and I ended up here due to all the other restaurants being busy on the strip. The host was super nice and cool, good reggae music bumping, we were really hungry so we like "cool lets do it" The windows need to be cleaned, you can hardly see the ocean out of the tinted glass. I ordered some type of squid steak rueban, sounded great but which was terrible, heavily deep fried to disguise the fake squid rubber. My gf couldnt eat her food, absolutey drenched in butter, baked stuffed soul i think its called, with brocollini and potatoes, typical to tourist traps to hide low quality "17 pounds of butter marinated into it" plus still cold in the middle. She says "tasted like saw dust" I felt sick and ashamed after leaving here being that I spent high dollar for trash food that would only pass at a fast food place like if carl's jr did a seafood day. The waiter was horrible, one visit, no refills. Gf asked for lemons and came after the meal with our check. The only thing good about this place was the super cool host and good reggae music. We had a pretty bad experience at Kicker's tonight. We made a reservation and were on time, and waited about 10 minutes to get seated. After that the service was the worst I've had in a very long time. Our reservation was at 7:00 and it wasn't until 7:40 that we placed our drink order -- but not because someone asked us, because we asked to place it and we placed it with the host not even our server. Our server was clearly overwhelmed by other things happening and told us so, while not really even addressing us as guests. When our drinks were ready they were sitting there waiting to be served, but our server never brought them and again we had to go up and ask. It took about an hour before we could place our food order and we felt rushed to place it at that point. We paid a lot for our meal and left feeling like we did not have a good experience at all. Only positives are the food tasted good and the views are nice, but we will not be back. We've eaten at multiple places along the Embarcadero area with the same views, good food, and much better service. read more

If you eat here you better pay with cash! When my family and I first walked in it took a long time for us to get seated even though there was only 1 other family in there. The waitress took forever to come take our drink order. The food was ok.. nothing worth the prices they charge! When we received our check $118.72 I gave the waitress my debit card to pay. When she came back the receipt she left on the table to sign and fill the tip in was different. I was charged $125.72. Upon asking why there was an extra $7 difference she let me know they charge a fee on the card plus taxes on the fee!! That didn't sound right to me because the original price already had charged me a tax fee. so I did ask to speak to someone in charge and what he said shocked me! " we charge a card fee and taxes on that fee plus total over all tax making it 3 times tax, I know what you're thinking it doesn't sound legal because it's probably not" after saying that he just left! I will absolutely never be back! Please pay attention to what they charge you! I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant and their scam. read more

Came here on a Sunday at 12:30pm the Embarcadero was busy, the sign by front door said "please wait to be seated" we waited 10-15 minutes with two servers looking at me and smiling without a word being said to us. I then walked to the oyster bar area and said "so do we seat ourselves or is someone going to check us in." Who I presumed was the manager said one minute then came about 5 minutes later. Counted menus for a different party that had been waiting of about 12 people. Then walked away. If we hadn't invested so much wait time here we would have left. Then we got seated a woman set down our waters and walked away without a word. 10 minutes later she said what can I get you. Took our order and started walking away before we were finished. I asked for salt and pepper and an extra spoon for my lobster busique (the reason we came) and again walked away before we could finish talking. Mind you this restaurant is not busy. 5 tables and 2 were hers. She brought my soup out before everything else we ordered. The soup was ordered as an entree and then she brought a side of fries which we thought was odd as my boyfriend got a burger with fries. About 15 minutes later she brought his burger with fries... we then grabbed the next person we could who I thought was a different manager. Eric was his name and he was great! He said the waitresses name was Samantha and she should be able to help us with this miscommunication. After he walked away Samantha came up about 5 minutes later asking if everything was okay, we said we didn't order the fries, we asked if the burger came with them. She pointed at me and said I ordered fries with my soup, to which I replied that I asked for a side of bread. She said okay and asked for the fries back. We finished our meal and asked for the check and it took 15 minutes with the table cleared for us to get our check... Samantha was not personable at all and was very standoffish. Eric was great, attentive to everyone he was walking around checking in and should be the manager if he is not already. It is very clear that what this restaurant is missing is some structure, and for employees to be held accountable. This was absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary we are locals to the central coast. SLO county is reliant on tourism and it's painfully obvious the reason this restaurant is empty. read more

Great early dinner on New Year's Eve. Waiter was super attentive. We were a party of 12 plus a high chair and they had everything set up for us before arrival. The lobster bisque was my favorite plus the house-made salad dressing. The only thing I can say that is good about this place is the view and the clam chowder. That's it. Everything else was awful. From the bad tacos, to the loud ambiance, to the rudest server I've ever encountered-and that's saying something because I've had some really bad service in the past. Plus the place wasn't clean. I had to ask for our table to be wiped down because there was cheese and crumbs all over it when we were seated. My husband and I are not picky and very chill until we get pushed to a point and this lady jumped over that line. To cut me off mid sentence and yank the plate off the table and turn around in a huff is so unprofessional. I was going to give this place a 3-star until then but there is never a reason good enough to be rude to a customer. Her attitude only got worse from there. Ignoring us for the most part and talking in a condescending tone only when she had to talk to us. Then there is the food. First off, they have swordfish tacos on the menu but when I went to order them the server informed me they are no longer available but they haven't updated the menu. There wasn't much else that was appealing so I had to rethink my order and she seemed irritated with that. I asked her when she came back much later if the rockfish tacos were good and she said they were excellent. They were not. Mushy and so fishy from lack of proper cleaning they were inedible. I took one bite and could barely get it down. My husband said his "Diablo" shrimp tacos were not spicy at all even though the server asked if he could handle spice and he said yes. He ate them but he said they were just meh. Luckily we ordered a bowl of clam chowder to share and it was pretty good. I ended up eating that until I lost my appetite because the server was so rude when she asked if I wanted her to box up the fore-mentioned disgusting tacos I had set at the edge of the table. I said no and started to explain what was wrong with them and that's when she didn't let me finish and cut me off. On top of that, I ordered a soda and it was $5! And she NEVER refilled it. Not once and it sat empty for half the meal. Honestly the worst experience I have ever had in Morro Bay. Usually the servers and food are top-notch but not this place. Wow !!! From start to end what a wonderful dining experience!!! I was friendly greeted and sat at a window booth over looking Morro Rock. Ryan, my waiter, was not only professional but very knowledgeable and personable. He highly recommended the Bouillabaisse and he noted that it is made to order. I also ordered the garlic roasted oysters. Ryan's recommendation was fantastic. One of the best bouillabaisse I have ever tasted. Fresh mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops all PERFECTLY cooked! And the broth was tasty not too salty and rich with seafood flavor. To top off the meal , the garlic roasted oysters were excellent - fresh, clean tasting with just enough garlic that did not over power the delicate oyster texture. The dining area is extensive and offers wonderful views of the bay. I entered the restaurant and was promptly greeted by the staff and seated. They have an extensive selection of beers and wines. There's a cocktail menu, but keep in mind they are made with soju, and not actual vodka. The beer options are a wide array. I ordered the lobster bisque which was exceptional. Each bite blossomed with lobster flavor and made me want more and more. The lobster roll was puzzling. The sandwich comes with a "fair" amount of meat, side of clarified butter, and the unusual cooked onions. The roll comes as a traditional lobster roll bun, and is buttery and delicious. If lobster is not your bag, the menu offers a vast selection of platters, salads, and entrees. I would stop here and take in all it has to offer. ENJOY read more

We drove to Moro Bay and decided to try Kickers. Our sever Audrey was very pleasant and helpful. We sat at a booth with a view of sea otters playing and fishing boats arriving with their catches. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder full of clams and shared it as it was a nice size with garlic bread. We ordered the fish tacos which were three nice size with rock cod fish and plenty of cabbage and green and red salsa. Yummy.
