Disclaimer- I don't like fried chicken. I never have. And growing up, my memories of KFC consisted of the bucket, mashed potato that didn't have much flavor, cole slaw, and biscuits (the only part I liked but I loaded it with the honey they gave out). Fast forward like 20 years and someone needed to meet with me for an appointment. They suggested KFC in Ewa because they said it was pretty clean and empty. They weren't lying! The inside was impressively clean and inviting. The location is in a nice quiet area in Ocean Pointe. I also discovered the menu had more than the food I loathed throughout my childhood. I'm obsessed with the Chicken Little + Georgia Gold sauce and potato wedges. The workers are always pretty nice. One even said "welcome back" when I was on a chicken little obsessive kick. I really like this KFC location. My only complaint is that the drive thru is a little tight and hidden. read more

Drive-thru customer service, Dennis was excellent very polite & patient. Ordered $28 fill-up. However, when I came home (KFC only minutes drive from my house) hot food was lukewarm. Biscuits were hard. Chicken legs split (meat from bone), could clearly see the blackened bone in 3 out of the 4 legs of chicken. Looked like was sitting out for a while, was not busy at all, we were the only customers at 7pm. Called the manager (was a supervisor on duty only), she (Coleen) apologized & said welcome to get a free 8 pieces of chicken & 4 rolls. I don't normally like KFC since Jollibees came along but my dad likes KFC but for this order, he even said the chicken tasted old. I went through drive thru to order 2 pcs combo breastfeeding and wing. I got home and started eating the chicken breast and it tasted spoiled and it smelled funny. So I went back to let them know and the manager she just grabbed my food from me and threw it away. Then started packing up a breast and wing and handed it to me. I believe it is time for a - star category for this location. I love KFC, but I don't consider or expect it to be 5 star dining! What I do expect is value for the money it cost to eat at KFC in Hawaii. Extremely small pieces for high prices. My biggest beef however is that you will always pay extra for wings and breast pieces. Do the majority in Hawaii refuse to eat white meat? It used to be with a 9 piece bucket of chicken you would get: 2 drumsticks, 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 breasts, and 1 center breast. Pretty standard everywhere else in the world EXCEPT Hawaii! where you will only get drumsticks and thighs with any of the meal selections. Expect to pay an up charge if you want white meat! I have not been able to get a solid answer from KFC corporate except that all locations in Hawaii are franchised and independently managed. So my second claim concerning small pieces that shouldn't be allowed to be sold is another beef. I know you've got white pieces sitting in the warmers, so when I agree to pay the up fee I expect to get what I paid for. Not a chicken breast that looks like it was cut in half! I no longer use their drive thru because apparently you don't need to attend school, or understand how to count back money if you've given them $20.25 for your $10.25 order when clearly the $20 easily covers the cost of the meal??? It makes me scream and I want to drag them through that little window with that stupid look on their face! I blame management or the lack thereof, because it never gets any better! All teenage kids should know how to count back change if you work retail PERIOD!!!! It is also prudent for the management to demand it because it is 2 - fold: #1 it shows the customer that you understand how to count, and #2 it reduces the over/under reconcile of the person assigned to that cash register. You would think that the manager would review the closing paperwork to insure it all adds up accordingly. God forbid something doesn't cause the little green numbers to vanish because then they really start to panic! Save yourself some aggravation and just go to Popeye's! Ordered a 2 piece meal w/ side cole slaw. Went back home to have lunch. When I opened up the container, I could not believe the size of the pieces of chicken. Their biscuit is not all that big, but the chicken pieces were about the size of the biscuit . Even the cole slaw and mash potato container seemed bigger than the chicken. FYI, the chicken pieces are breast and wing. This cost me me $11.09. Just wanted share my experience at this location. Oh yeah, went back and got refund. My waste of time. read more

I tried their Famous bowl for the first time today and it was alright, I'd say I could do without the corn. They were open during the Hurricane so I am appreciative that they're still providing service. However, their Famous bowl comes with a drink and a cookie and while I'm not one on sweets I thought I'd indulge today. If you have ever been to one of these on the mainland, prepare to be dissapointed. My family came in and ordered a bucket. The picture on the window shows a full bucket with breasts, legs, and thighs. When we opened the bucket we were shocked at how small the pieces were and that the didn't include the breasts. I went up and asked the manager and she said sorry, I know there is not a disclaimer on the poster but the bucket is only dark meat. Translation - "you've lived here long enough, you should know that we don't understand customer service and that anytime you spend money you should just bend over!" I love KFC Famous Bowls (the classic one). So when they built this one here next to our neighborhood, I was very happy. Choices in Hawaii are limited outside local cuisine, so having more than asian food near our house was exciting. This KFC is usually empty, always very clean and pristine, and the service is always great. I usually use the drive thru, though I think going in is faster for any fast food in Hawaii. Their food is good, classic, and the service is the same. Nothing major to recommend it or drop it further. If you want clean though, you want this KFC. read more

When I first started frequenting this location, there was one employee in particular that always gave me attitude and made it very clear he would rather be doing something else than serving me. Luckily I haven't seen him for awhile and everyone else I have encountered have been great! At any KFC, I expect a longer wait than other fast food places but the wait isn't really that bad here. There have been a couple times where I've waited over 15 minutes for chicken strips but I appreciate that they were fresh. Ewa Beach KFC...... you have forever lost my business. Food so dang greasy it don't make no sense. Couldn't even eat the entire meal because I thought I might have had a heart attack from all the grease. The box was saturated with grease as well as the containers for that the sides were in. As you drive between the ordering location and the pick up Windsor, remember that what you think you're going to get is a concept. 4. When you get to the window, be prepared for additional negotiations trying to find something they REALLY have available. 5. I come here often just for their chicken. They have AWSOME tasting food but horrible staffing/management. The credit card machine has been down for a few months and they have been sending people away/losing business due to the credit card machine being broken. They did not put any sign up on the drive thru to warn people. The time it takes to get an order ready would be a 20 minute wait especially for drive thru customers. Bad customer service, all staff do not take orders correctly. There's always something missing in every order every single time I went there. I always come back here to give this place another chance. But they always fail covering it up with a fake ass smile. The price is too high for over heated hard chicken. The pieces I got had more hard crunchy batter on it then meat. 7 bucks for a little drumstick, a over cooked, over battered thigh and a small size of wedges with no drink. Extremely understaffed. 20 minutes with no one in front of me for my order to be taken. The few people that had working were very busy not sure if any of them actually get a break with a lobby full of patrons waiting to get their order taken. Derek was the only employee taking orders.
