I frequented Keybar last weekend with a gaggle of girlfriends, and I have to say that I was impressed by some aspects of this bar. What really blew my mind was the happy hour on Saturday that lasted until 10pm. While most of us in our 20's dream of deals such as this, it's pretty rare to actually find a bar with such generous drink specials on the weekend. If you order a cocktail before 10pm you receive a drink ticket worth the value of your purchase that can be redeemed until 12am. This effectively means that you don't have to pound your happy hour drinks, rather you can spread them out and enjoy them over a three hour period. On a whim I ordered a Shango Tango, which turned out to be an extremely delicious fruity concoction that involved passion fruit puree. I was hooked for the rest of the night, but I did taste some yummy mango and blood orange drinks. One brave soul ordered a spicy beer, which intrigued me, but I ultimately thought it tasted like beer mixed with the little salty flavor pack that comes with ramen noodles. After a while the house music got a little old, but I did love the gas fireplace in the corner and the comfy seating around the walls. I will definitely be coming back in the future! read more

This place is SO fun. 16 drinks come out to be ~$60, insane for NYC prices. For this price range, you would think that you were drinking rubbing alcohol. That couldn't be further from the truth. As many others have posted, they have a wide selection of quality imported beer like duvel and delirium. All their mixed drinks were fantastic. We tried some lychee martini and there were actually tiny little chunks of puree'd lychee on the bottom. For the prices, I wonder how they keep the place profitable. What really sets them apart in my mind is their shots. They were incredibly unique and it was especially fun to watch them make it with rough precision. We had the rolo, lemon drop, brain damage and blood orange. Rolo had this spicy chocolate flavor, which was nothing like I've ever had. My favorite was the brain damage, however. It tasted like a cherry flavored bailey's. I can't even describe how they make it but it looked like something that could be on Bizarre Foods. Definitely recommend. Cheers! read more

This is a really good place for a late afternoon or after work happy hour. 2 for 1 drinks and a special that lasts until 10pm encourages you to stick around. I will say the $12 martinis are kind of small, but there are a lot of other options that allow for the 2 for 1 special. They also offer $9 cocktails (I recommend the Mango Madras!), and also beers, wines, and well drinks. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

The environment in the key bar was nice to he lighting was good but the selection of beers was not good I went to use the rest room and left if they would have had a better selection of beers I would of stood it is a cute little place. read more

5 stars for Keybar - NO BRAINER! I found it on Yelp, but I had never been before this weekend. I called a week ahead to let them know I was organizing a happy hour for 20-50 people. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was super nice, and it was no hassle to get everything organized. They reserved some space for us, but my group basically took over the bar there were so many of us. It is not a huge place, but it was a perfect venue for what we needed. Everyone I spoke to that came had a great time! You really can't beat their buy one get one specials, and we had a birthday girl in the group so we got a free round of shots. It has a great atmosphere, so everyone was able to mingle in a nice laid back way. I really can't say enough nice things about this place. The owner is such a sweetheart, and the bartenders were awesome. Even though the place was kind of mobbed, everyone had a drink in hand without a ridiculous wait. I will definitely be back in the near future (leftover Keybar cards in hand of course). read more

Best happy hour in the city, in my opinion. 2-for-1 includes everything: cocktails, drafts, shots. And they have micheladas!! Also to note: close to the train and dollar pizza :) Crowd is young, but not douchey. Chill place, highly recommend. read more

Rating says it all: Woohoo! As good as it gets! I went there with my friends after 10 and they had these videos projected on one side. It was awesome! There was live (dj) music which was from the 80s I think, mixed with some 90s; we could barely sit down we wanted to dance to all of them. The drinks were strong and tasty, the bartenders were super friendly and nice. I'll def come back to this place to dance till the morning! It's usually pretty chill during the week, a fun and comfortable place to go and chat with friends. But on the weekends they bring out the house music. I went to their happy hour upon reccommendation from a friend, it was a great deal , one of the best in NY!

I came here for my birthday with a big group of friends around 15 people and emailed them ahead of time what time I was coming. They reserved a big table for my group and gave us a free round of shots on the house for my birthday (matched the shots for the group - 2 for 1) They had HH until 10 PM where they matched every drink you bought based on price with a voucher for a free shot. It was pretty amazing and cost efficient if I would say. There was a fireplace that was perfect for pictures and a huge selections of crazy shots like rolo shots and really good drinks. I was so happy and my friends loved it. Different atmosphere then other bars with the couches, disco ball, dance music and lowlit room but it was good vibes all night. "The keys to success" in the words of Dj Khalid once said "ANOTHER ONE", this bar is truly awesome for what it is! its a small venue with big deals, big drinks, and awesome coupons!! let me just first say this bar has two for one drink specials, and they do this very often! so you can literally have double (triple even) the drinks for one complete price! so dont worry about getting drunk in this place they have you covered in it literally! they offer tons and tons of drink varieties from beer, to gin and whiskey just to name a few. but any beer direction you go drink wise, you will see the effects later on during the night. "music?whats that like" depending on what day you go is what you will hear. usually the weekends usually top 40s hits of hip-hop and R&B but during the weekdays, you're mainly going to hear rock/electronica/or maybe some house music if you are lucky. but for the most part its overall music that everyone will appreciate for their own individual taste! "come in groups" they have seat setups if you plan to just sit down with and hang with friends or if you just want to relax from standing. or if you want to dive face first towards the bar be prepared because this bar is crowded so have elbows out and push your way to the front! DJ started off not so good but then got hotter with 80s and 90s beats. as per a recurring theme, alcohol + Yelpers = epic dance party. free shots of some sort of liquor ("passionfruit" someone said. sure, why not) for the birthday boy and his party. yeahhhh buddy! place gets packed but people will show up and leave in waves. like I said in my first review, I've run security ops at conventions so I know how to handle crowds. plus hipster doofuses don't weigh very much. of course, I always appreciate a good groping from random people when it's not the TSA or gypsies. you can get that here. read more

Came to Keybar to do a low key after work birthday celebration with my friends on December 12th and it was a success! The 2 for 1 drinks and shots were great. (Yes, we bought a round of tequila shots and got a second round free because it was happy hour!) The bartender and patrons were also really nice. I believe I shook hands with one of the owners before I left. It's a small space but, it felt cozy for a Tuesday night. I had a group of 10 people and we were able to fit comfortably on one of the couches in the front and have a few stools despite, the bar becoming more crowded around 8 pm. I could definitely see myself coming back here in the future. My friends really enjoyed it also and said that it felt like we went out on a Friday night instead of a Tuesday night. Tip: Food is not served at this bar however, the Halal Guys have an eat in/take out restaurant about 2 blocks away if you get hungry after stopping here. See you soon Keybar! read more

DAMN. uh. wow....OKAY *clears throat* This review is for Louis's Event hosted here, because If I were to come here alone, I most likely would have had a three star evening. I would have gotten some 2-for-1 cards, I would have sat around, looked at cute guys, and gone home. Which is fine. But I wasn't here by myself, OH NO. I was here with about 30 drunk and disorderly Yelpers. I pre-gamed, too at a bar a couple blocks away, as the idea of seeing all 30 of these people made me so nervous I had an intense desire to go sprinting. So I arrived already with my game face on, and was greeted with a chorus of friendly hellos, and hugs, and lifts, and the occasional tush grab. Funny stuff. I was surrounded by male and female Yelpers at all times (okay, except in the bathroom!) and I mean it when i say I LOVE ALL YA ALL NOW. I can't help it. I'm just built this way. Judging by some, I guess some love me too, which is touching. MY only two complaints? 1) we needed more space. I did not get a chance to talk to everyone, because you had to force yourself through the crowd like it were the subway and 2) the music was not my favorite, although it was a good decibel to talk, and okay 3) DANCE FLOOR next time. read more

This is conveniently located in the east village and could be a perfect place to bar hop or "pre game" before a night out. Bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is very chill here. I've probably walked by this bar hundreds of times and somehow never noticed it. It's been there for 13 years! Anyway, thank god I found it after all this time. Awesome two for one happy hour until 10pm. It's small, kinda divey but super cool. I checked in to the bar on Facebook with a photo and the owner liked that so much he brought a a round of Dirty Sanchez shots. (those things packed a punch too - spicy!) He was a cool guy. Came here with great friends. We had about four rounds of the rollo shot plus drinks! Thats how good they were! The bartender was rude however we didn't let it get in our way of enjoying our night. The live fireplace on the right side of this tiny little lounge is snazzy. On the left corner, behind the DJ booth is a small VIP room. The DJ was playing a lot of techno, house, some 80s, and some other genres I didn't quite recognize, because, frankly, it's probably not my usual crowd. Dragged here by friends is my situation. But it was okay. Everyone's just out to have a good time here. The staff is super friendly. And there are hooks all over the walls for you to hang your coat. read more

I love going to this bar because the drink specials are amazing and the location is kind if hidden so it's usually not that crowded. My only problem is that its really small. The music is a playlist the bartender controls but there's no space to dance. This is a good place for a party of 3 or less. But still one of my favorite bars in the city. oh yeah, give it to me. Went here for some cheap cocktails with my lady friends after work. Its kinda far from the subway, but it was a gorgeous summer night, so we got to walkin. So lets talk about this place. Its basically just a room with a bar in it. Theres very little seating, and some sort of weird bed area behind the bar, behind a curtain. We managed to snag a pretty comfy bench right under the window, which was open out to the street. Inside, the bar was lit a very sexy red. I was diggin the odd artwork. It kind of looked like Alex's from the RHONY house in bk, ie vampire bordello chic. Now, this girl loves a deal. I love a dollar off, 10% bogo, whatever you got. if theres a discount, i can smell it. And keybar delivers. You get these little cards with the price of your drink on it, redeemable for anything on the menu for that price. Lovin it big time. Was downing Redstripes and Hofbraus, flinging around cards, doing shots with the laydees. Two complaints 1) the atmosphere was a little blah. everyone seemed to be on a date, and kind of not so happy with their companions. also the tunes were lacking. Maybe it was 80's night and thats why he played a 20 min version of Video Killed the Radio Star. I mean, this whole complaint is unfounded because its not really Keybar's fault. 2) only one bartender. It got busy, and we had to wait some time for drinks. All in all, this place is great. This is a good happy hour spot - I've come here several times with friends, as they have happy hour that goes til much later (9 I think) and you can just take your coupon with you and come back later if you only feel like having one drink. However - and maybe this is like bad luck on my part - I've always run into sketchy people trying to start weird conversations with either myself or one of my girlfriends. This isn't usually a first resort for us, and will probably stay on our back burner list - however, the bartenders are nice and the drinks are strong - so we can't complain too much! read more

The two for one drink special is legit. You buy one drink and you get a card for a drink of equal value that never expires and can be used after 10pm when the happy hour ends. They take the time to pour their Guinness ($7 bogo) right which I appreciate. The place was packed, no room to walk around. But, as others have said, it's a good place to start the night or hang out after the drink special crowd has left. Once the crowd has thinned out you'll realize there are seats and some cool artwork on the walls. At that point you can start to burn through the free drink cards you've accumulated. read more

It has the best happy hour you will find with selection for everyone (beer drinker - beers on tap, martinis - a variety, wine - yep, other drinks - do your thing). The bartenders are super friendly (I heart Jenny and I have never written "heart" in words before so that's impressive - I also hope that Jenny is her name) and it seems that being there makes people more laid back.
