We went here on a Friday. Evening. We made reservations for 6PM. We arrived at 6 and were seated right away. The place was only half full but the bar area was packed with live music it was noisy. But they did close a double door leading to the bar which made the dining room more bearable. My wife had the Pain Killer which she loved I just had a coke. Our waitress was very attentive and courteous and prompt. I ordered the Veal Parm. My wife had the Fish Basket and we shared the Fish Bisque that came with my entree. Our order was delivered in less than 15 min. My Veal Parm. Was absolutely delicious and more than I could eat at one sitting. My wife's Fish Basket was also huge and very delicious too. Very disappointed. This new highly priced restaurant is attempting to be *worth it". But it's all fluff. The hostess is a senior citizen wearing torn jeans. A terrible first impression. The live piano player is too loud for polite conversation so the restaurant gets very loud. No basket of bread and butter was offered. The bar could not make a frozen drink, they were out of several appetizers, and get this... NO COFFEE to go with their overpriced deserts. I have never eaten here before. My boyfriend decided to take me on a little getaway for the weekend and this was one of our places to have dinner. The food was phenomenal. Our server, Rebecca was a gem. She was really nice and courteous to us. The ambience was pretty nice even though it was a Friday evening and not very busy. I'm sitting here 1+ hour in and had to force delivery of a bottle of wine and just finished the soup app. No clue when the main will arrive and little confidence that it will be served hot and delish. We enjoyed Key Colony over 25 years and their former menu that offered a variety of deliciously prepared fresh snapper, grouper, pompano and other local fish. Last there not long after new owners took over. Menu was being "updated" and their classic key lime pie was different. New owner said they changed the recipe. How very disappointing this is now a predominately Italian restaurant with pizza, pasta...with a very limited offering of a few seafood items and only "dolphin", not the wonderful fresh fish in the keys- no grouper, snapper, pompano....The cracker conch was swimming in grease which was never the case before. Restaurant on a Friday was less than half full with blaring music from the bar. As fourth generation Floridians, we are sad to loose another formerly great restaurant. read more

We visit this restaurant every year on Christmas Day, so that my mother doesn't have to worry about cooking as it's also her birthday. We look forward to this trip every year. Typically the food is great, however things have changed significantly in the past year. We had a 3PM reservation. We were greatful that we were able to get in early, as we arrived at 2:30. Looking back, that should have been our first warning sign. We were sat, had our drink order taken, immediately followed by food order. We were not given the water that they typically give at seating, and had to request the bread and butter they give for each table 45 minutes into our seating. We ordered another round of drinks as we received our salads. At last our food arrived after having being sat at the table for an hour and fifteen minutes. The food was absolutely terrible. Fish was snapper, but the fish smelled terrible and the meat was dark not white like it's supposed to be. An hour and forty five minutes into our seating we received our second drinks, after having been empty for more than 45 minutes. (Again without a water option) They did remove the snapper dinners from our bill, thankfully. However, the manager never even came to ask what was wrong. After two hours, and spending nearly an hour without a drink, and the quality of the rest of the food (chicken Alfredo, spaghetti & meatballs, fried dolphin) that was the least that could have been done. Every plate was left 90% full, and there were 8 of us. What was a yearly birthday routine for my mom and our family has come to an end. We will find a new place to start her annual birthday celebration in 2025!! read more

We had chicken parm, escargot, chicken with artichokes and tomato, white wine sauce, and the dolphin lorenzo. Dolphin was a little over cooked. Stopped by during a road trip. The service from server was good but The food I ordered was below expectations. Ordered a pasta rigatoni and expected fresh cooked sauce (not marinara sauce). The sauce was slightly warmed up, the shrimp didn't feel cooked or was probably store bought as well. Interesting place that caters to older crowd. The reviews are all correct about how long everything takes. While we were seated fairly quickly, it took a long time for drinks and apps to come. We heard this was a location liked by the locals. It is one block from the water and located in an old 70's style building. I am not sure if it's associated with any of the hotels here. This is another local place that is badly in need of some updates. It is so close to the water and you are in a dark dining room with paneling looking at the back of a hostess station. It smells like the '70s in here. Our server was very friendly but when we asked for recommendations she suggested items like burgers and salmon, neither of which we eat when we come to the Keys! We are in paradise, we want grouper, or lobster, or stone crab! RJ ordered vodka and sprite which was $4 and I ordered Beachfront Property which was $12. His drink was much better than mine. We started with a shrimp cocktail which was delicious with large, juicy shrimp and basic bread service. The meal also came with soup or salad and we both ordered the crab bisque which was very thick and tasty. I ordered the special which was supposed to be grouper oscar style on a bed of spinach. RJ ordered dolphin with mashed potatoes and gravy which was an upcharge. My order arrived after a long wait. It was enormous but had shrimp on top and no asparagus. Oscar style should be crab or lobster with bearnaise or hollandaise sauce and asparagus. We didn't say anything because we had waited so long for the food to come out we didn't want to wait any longer. We saw on the receipt later that it was entered as a Fish and Shrimp combo. So I guess the kitchen made what was entered, it just wasn't what I ordered. The fish was really excellent though, very large pieces cooked perfectly. RJ enjoyed his fish as well but said if you are going to upcharge mashed potatoes and gravy it should be real mashed potatoes and gravy. The portions were so huge we took home half of everything which we ate the next day, except the potatoes which we threw away. We ended the evening by sharing a chocolate mousse cake which was terrific. We would probably still go back but we would sit at the bar or get it to go and skip the dining room. read more

Went for drinks only as we had already had a delicious meal of our fresh catch fish . Drinks great. Total turn off are the heavy plastic covering the table cloths. I did see a person that took hers off. If I was eating there I would have done the same to. She said they have new owners and that many aren't happy with the changes they are making. I hosted my daughter's baby shower this past Sunday at The Key Colony Inn and I cannot say enough of how wonderful it was. From the minute I walked in the door early to decorate when the Inn wasn't even opened yet, I was met by Allison and was immediately brought a bottle of cold water and was asked if there was anything I needed. The room was set beautifully, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. We were so happy to see Mark tending bar for us as well! He was prepared for anything. My daughter lives in Islamorada and we recently purchased a condo In Key Colony Beach and we all love the whole area. My daughter chose KCI for the shower and we were thrilled because we love it there. It never disappoints. Thank you to Allison and staff for making it such a special day! read more

The service here was really, really slow. If you're in a hurry to eat, this isn't the place. We waited almost an hour for our food and saw customers who came in after us get served and leave before we got our food.
