My husband and I finally decided to take out the awful floors that were put in only a few years ago because the floors were never even. The floors have always been uneven and had terrible dips and even bumps! The lock and groove was splitting apart due to uneven floors! We pulled them out and trashed all the flooring today..straight to the dump! To our surprise, they never even floated the floors. Nothing was ever prepped correctly and leveled correctly! I was taken BIG time, $4,000 for 350 sqft! It's a small job; but it's butchered! What a headache this has been on us and my pocket book. Within 2 days he came to measure and my carpet was ordered. A week later my carpet was installed. The installer Armando was so knowledgeable- he removed old and installed new. He hid the seam. I am completely impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of Key Carpets. We had our upstairs (stairs included) re-carpeted. Mitch came out to our home friendly and courteous. He noticed something that I never knew with our staircase. The old carpet that was here when we moved in was carelessly installed. He knew right away that there were beautiful details to the steps that are there but not accentuated because of how the carpet had been installed. His crew, also courteous & respectful, were efficient removing the old and installing the new carpet. They covered our wood floors to protect them while they went out of the house to get materials and come in again. The carpet is absolutely beautiful, well-laid and our staircase is amazing! I was shocked. I called spoke with Mitch, asked him to give me estimate on the cost to replace the kitchen floor. Then my tenant calls me to say the they were taking up the floor. How do you start a job, that you havn't gave the customer an estimate for. This was bad business. Then when I call him, he did't answer. So I had to drive out to the home to see what was going on. I called him from a different number, then he answered. He said he had to call me back with the price. Why would you start a job if you hadn't quoted the price yet. My family have been going to Key Carpets for years. Wouldn't dream about going anywhere else until now. I had tiles laid in my kitchen and the tiles were cut so crooked that they put down a ¼ in white around the entire kitchen. It looks horrible. The entry way was even worse, luckily I was able to have them fix that with the extra tiles (so it is possible to cut the tiles straight). And the 1/4 board wasn't necessary in some parts of the entry way. The gap between the kitchen floor and living room was cocked with filler. Terribly upset with the job, we contacted Mitch and asked him to come look at it. Mitch instead sent over Al, the installer, who was already mad we were unhappy. Al claimed he would make things better. After he came up with some ideas for the space between the kitchen and living room - he said he would come back but never did.
