Exceptional service on 3/21 for Gigis playhouse Gala. All was perfect except the dry chicken breasts. I imagine they were cooked and held in the warmer at the Atreuum, which dried them out. Also, would of appreciated knowing there were options since it was Friday in Lent. I found out about the vegetarian-or- fish option 4 days after the fact. Unless things have changed, I believe that Ken's Creative Kitchen is just a caterer. They used to run a gorgeous little restaurant on their porch, but my guess is that it became too popular with waits often running over an hour and it was just too much - so they went back to solely catering. (That's just a guess...) In any case, both the restaurant and the catering enterprises get 5 solid stars. They recently catered an event at my workplace and did an AMAZING job, especially given that we had extremely limited spaces for them to set up. The buffet spread they had was beautiful, the shrimp they served were enormous and wonderfully fresh and flavorful, and the crabcakes were so good - with huge chunks of backfin crab meat in every bite. They even did a great job of packing everything up and leaving it in the fridge for all the worker's lunches the next day! read more

WOW! This place is a MUST HAVE for ANYONE who lives in annapolis, is visiting annapolis, or lives within driving distance of annapolis! Breakfast: order the french toast! On sunday, they serve the french toast all day, even though the breakfast menu ends mid-day. For lunch, order the crab cake sandwich for you first visit. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for!! My best friend used Ken to cater his wedding at the USNA chapel, so soon after we fell in love with Ken's Creative Kitchen. CATERING REVIEW: Got married in September 2013 at the William Paca House in Annapolis and Ken's Creative was our caterer for the event. We had our tasting at Ken's in March and it was some of the best food we ever had and the level of catering/wedding experience the staff showed, especially Katie, was amazing. They do not run a full blown restaurant and their main business is catering. They were our first tasting and the bar was set so high for other tastings there really was no comparison. Ken's offered suggestions of what would be in season a the reception, embraced our oddball requests (ice cream cart, appetizers from each country of heritage, 5 different entree choices, etc.), and didn't bat an eye with a same-sex couple. When we chose Ken's Creative as our wedding caterer, the price is a shocker. And we had concerns of, "can they repeat this amazing food when serving 120 people at the same time?". The money is worth it. And yes they can. It was a perfect night and they kept everything rolling on time. A month later we are still getting comments about the food and experience they helped build. Ken is a gentleman who knows and loves great food, and he offered us creative menus, design ideas and a professional staff that delivers everything beautifully! The food was not only gorgeous to look at but delicious -- how they can prepare fish perfectly for a large crowd is beyond me but they did!!! You want Ken to cater your next event. Of course, the food is astounding, the staff are all professional, and your event will go perfectly to plan. That's obvious. But that's not why you're hiring Ken. I'm assuming that, like me, you wanted your wedding catered, and you have a vague notion of what you want, and a budget to match. But you don't have all the details and you're not sure where to begin. Lots of other caterers will ask you dozens of questions, expecting you to give them a homework assignment listing precisely what they have to do to meet your needs. You can't tell them what you want, so they kind of waffle and are unsure if they can meet your needs. We told Ken the general shape of what we wanted, and in no time he was painting a picture of our wedding reception with his words. He helped focus our nebulous dream into a reality, refining the plan with further questions and options. Whenever we were drawing a blank on something, he would provide options and talk about their trade-offs. Ken worked with us to craft dishes that provided options for our friends and family with special dietary needs. Ken was constantly in contact with us. In the months leading up to our wedding, he was always there for quick questions, confirmations, changes to the menu, everything. Also we had the best food of any wedding we've ever gone to, seriously, they knocked it out of the park and were absolute pros. People were talking about the Moroccan Couscous and how fabulous it was, the tables were gorgeous, service was lovely and helpful. I didn't need a wedding planner or "day of coordinator". That was Katie! She listened to my vision and helped us put together the perfect day. On the day of the wedding, I have never seen anything run so smoothly. The food was epic, the drinks were flowing, and the service was unparalleled. I know I am biased, but I think it was the best party that I have every been to. Even when I started to have a meltdown because the shuttle was messed up, Katie came to the rescue and helped me & my guests get out the door. Ken's Creative Kitchen catered our daughter's wedding at St. John's College in June of 2010. We had over 100 guests from all over the U.S.. The appetizers, cocktails and dinner could not have been more spectacular, both for flavor and presentation. We have also been to the Backdoor Cafe a number of times and again, you won't find a more scrumptious softshell crab sandwich or salad. My family traveled from PA, NJ and VA and met in MD for a 50th anniversary celebration. Upon the recommendation of the VRBO homeowner we used or our rental, we had Ken's Creative Kitchen cater the dinner for our parents 50th anniversary dinner at the house. Fantastic customer service! Our event was small and prior to the event, Katie Wildt was so patient as we went through a few iterations of the menu to get to exactly what we wanted...we weren't a big wedding, but she took the time to make sure it was just right! The night of the event did not disappoint...the staff was so friendly, the service was impeccable, and the cuisine was AMAAAZZZING! The crabcakes were beyond good - with huge chunks of crab meat in every bite. We all wished we had ordered more! At the end of the night, they even packed up our leftovers (barely any!!!) and placed in the refrigerator for us to enjoy again. I commissioned Ken's Creative Kitchen to cater my family's Thanksgiving dinner. First, the crew called me arriving at the billing address, not the venue. After re- routing them, they showed up without the tables and chairs, I had discussed over and over again with the planner, Jamie, that there HAD to be tables and chairs. After much stress and wrangling we pulled together seating, which meant some people had to eat outdoors. Thank God it was 55 degrees, not colder. Any colder and it would have been worse. We had to go to the store and buy heaters for outside. When dinner was served, a traditional thanksgiving feast, there was no gravy! Turkey, stuffing(tossed brioche and sausage(dry and tasteless) mashed potatoes and NO GRAVEY! The roasted stuffed onions were UNDERCOOKED, not roasted and had no stuffing, just sprinkled with a bit of panko. Un-edible. I could go on, it just makes me angry. I have to commend the staff. They worked very hard and tried to make the best of a bad situation. I had chosen Ken's on the recommendation of my sister-in -law and because a friend is having a large wedding and had contracted Ken's. She is thinking of withdrawing her contract.
