Amazing food, got the classic barbecue chicken and beef plates. Portions were generous(how everywhere else should be) and full of flavor. I recommend trying their Sriracha sauce. Service was great and friendly willing to give great suggestions and info. The in dining experience, seemed to be very unique and visually appealing. Clean and creative! try this place out, they have something for everyone! read more

We went to Kenji's today for the first time and we were not disappointed. The portions were huge, worth the price and delicious. The decor is so cute and I love the food truck that is inside. We ordered to go but they have a small inside dining area as well as one outside. We had the BBQ Chicken and the Kahlua Pork n Cabbage. I definitely recommend this place and will be going again (and again.) Most importantly, the food was still hot when we got home. read more

Kenji's Food Truck catered my retirement party and everything went perfectly! Everyone loved the different plates and I'm certain Kenji's will increase their customer base because our guests loved them so much! I highly recommend considering Kenji's as a caterer for your next event. The prices per person are very fair. The service was kind and extraordinary. The food portions were outstanding and the flavors were just like being at the restaurant. Thank you Kelly and Joe! Till the next event! Many thanks to you and the staff for helping our celebration turn out so wonderfully. read more

I absolutely love Kenji's! I discovered them back when they were solely a food truck that used to frequent my place of work a few years ago. Now their brick and mortar restaurant is also close to my new employer, so I'm happy for that. Their teriyaki chicken and beef are among the most delicious and flavorful in town. I love their Mac salad too. I'm sort of picky about Mac salad so I'm glad to have found a good one. Inside is pretty small, but I usually get my order to go since I have a short lunch break. I also love their spam musubi. It's one of my go-to orders and something I always feel like if I'm not in the mood for chicken or beef. Kenji's has some solid Hawaiian yumminess. read more

This place is near my house. The place is clean, unique and the staff is very friendly. The food is awesome. The portions they provide is enough that I can't finish at once. The beef is very tender. The rice is cooked perfectly and it had flavor. There is seats inside and outside, the place is well kept. Might be the best Hawaiian place in town. Will certainly be bax read more

I had an extra day off and decided to check out some "local island" food.....I wasn't disappointed. I had the chicken teriyaki and spam tacos. Can cheese is so close to my office, I come here for lunch several times a month. I love their salad. Filled with spring greens and topped with grilled chicken, sprinkled with cabbage, ginger and edamame - it's the perfect lunch. The owner and staff are so nice. Service is quick. I love that the weather has warmed up so you can eat on the picnic tables outside too. Some of my other favorite include the spam, musubi and potstickers. Yum!! read more

So I have a couple of visits to the brick and mortar building location for take out only. I'm new to Hawaiian food, so was going off of pictures for my first order and let me tell you, so hard to choose! The first time I got the Kalua Pork and Cabbage, oh my, I was not expecting so much flavor to come through with such simple ingredients, but it made me a convert forever! Sweet, smokey, and salty, a pop of fresh and bright coming from the bitterness in the wilted cabbage too. I have also gotten their teriyaki chicken platter, it's not overly sweet or salty, and has a delicious char on it. I normally hate Mac Salad, but I get it here everytime, the vinegar in the salad helps add some much needed brightness and acid to the meal. I personally love the juxtaposition of the hot grilled items with the cold salad. Next on the list to try are their tacos, beef platter and spam fried rice (hoping it comes across like Chinese sausage fried rice!). But I will probably always hit up the Kalua Pork. They have a someday limited menu, but that just means they focus on executing well. Instead of overextending. I am a huge fan of asain flavors in general and so glad to add this place to my rotation of Asian cuisines. For me Hawaiian food has more sweetness in it than some other Asian cuisines, and sometimes you just want that itch scratched for that flavor. Additionally, they have online ordering (my millenial heart loves this for businesses) and easy pick up, while I haven't dined in, the take out process I have always been met with a friendly personality and quick service. And you know they are clean considering they take the mandates seriously. I love their social media response to the latest guidelines, it's not that fun, but also for the general customer, mask is 5 minutes versus the workers who wear them their whole shift. Don't make things more difficult by coming in and talking about rights being infringed upon. Go or don't but if you're like me, this is important consideration for who you want to support. read more

We had a party at our house and had about 120 guests. I did not want to prepare food for that many people. Nor did I want to worry about setting up catered food. Soooo.... I had Kenji's drive to our home and park at the end of our driveway and serve our guests! And thanks to them I was able to ENJOY our party and have a good time! The plates were a very generous amount. I don't think any of our guests left hungry and if they did, that means they were probably having too much fun drinking instead. The teriyaki chicken and kalua pork were a hit! THANK YOU KELLI FOR BEING SO EASY TO WORK WITH! read more

I have been frequenting Kenji's ever since they were a food truck. Their food was always a go-to staple back in my bar hopping/pub crawl days. Needless to say, they still got it! The El Hawaiiano is quite possible my new favorite sandwich (though I really miss their Kenji Burger from back in the day). The portions are even larger than I remember, and I have yet to come across an item on the menu that disappoints. Whether it's their BBQ plate, or their quesadillas, Kenji's food doesn't miss. It's even more convenient now that they have a brick-and-mortar location, as you can place an order online, and just pick it up without having to investigate on social media where they'll be next (although, I'd still give them a follow to look at their delicious items). I'm so happy to see Kenji's is still thriving after all these years. If you're in the mood for Hawaiian food, definitely visit Kenji's when you get the chance. read more

Kenji's was a surprisingly delicious lunchtime value! The TL:DR version of this review is that the new restaurant has a cool vibe, the food is delicious and very value oriented around $10, but my qualms are they use styrofoam containers for service (vs. eco friendly or reusable) and beyond coleslaw and a small pile of spring mix with a beautiful dressing, they don't offer any vegetable options for sides. I know it's traditional plate lunch and that there is cabbage under the protein, but I think a lot of customers would appreciate something else to replace starches. If you've followed Reno's food truck scene you know Kenji's was literally one of the first to bring food to the people. My first taste goes all the way back to a cold night at 3rd Street Bar. The truck was setup outside (before all the ordinances were out in place) and a friend and I shared a few of their Korean/Hawaiian fusion tacos to fill our bellies. The tacos were good enough for me to remember that it was good this far into the future, so when asked about grabbing lunch nearby, the new restaurant location quickly came to mind. The restaurant has a rad vibe and more importantly, the business model makes perfect sense! The restaurant is inside the commercial kitchen they use for the truck, so they can now do both when the opportunity is right! Now here's the coolest part... They literally put a food truck inside the building! Ok it's a shell of a truck but who cares! Your food comes out of the window just like it would if you went to the truck itself, but now you get to order from a counter POS. Having the full kitchen also allows them to run specials in addition to their menu. I have been trying to watch what I'm eating, so I went for the chicken plate, which came with rice, and got green salad as my side. The chicken was cooked so well! Charred from the grill, well marinated, juicy and crispy too. The white rice was fluffy and the perfect vehicle for soaking up the juice and sauce remaining. But the star of the show was the salad dressing! Not sure what it is, but it's awesome and I put it on the whole meal! I'll definitely be back, and soon. I loved all the flavors and value, just wish they'd change out the styrofoam and add a new veg side. read more

We came in for lunch on (5/3/19) and found the seating situation uncomfortable for this of us with bad backs and lacking in places to seat their hungry customers. We felt a bit rushed to finish our meal, because people were standing near us waiting for a table to open up. I ordered the Japanese curry with chicken. When it arrived it looked more watery than I expected. The flavor was not bad, but the consistency was not what I am used to. My wife ordered the the BBQ chicken plate. She said the flavor was ok, and was turned off by the several pieces that were charged, this taking away the flavor of the dish. read more

My co-workers are always getting lunch here so I figured I'd see what the fuss is about. I decided to try the El Hawaiiano sandwich and it knocked my socks off! That Kalua pork is so good and the flavor combinations in that sammy were fireworks, not to mention the ooey gooey cheese. I also ordered the chicken pot stickers and a side salad and everything was fresh! The salad was so green! The staff were friendly and all smiles when I picked up the food and the restaurant itself is very clean. Great experience. read more

Kenji's was sooo good! Their service was great, they were super fast, and I got the chicken and beef and it was delicious!

Very good Hawaiian style food! My husbands company hired Kenjis for an entertainment night out. Our favorite is the BBQ Chicken. A mild Hawaiian style bbq flavor! Great rice. Made well with awesome macaroni salad that had fresh carrot slivers and black sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Nice touch! We recently found their restaurant off South McCarren down Longley to Spring street in a cute little strip mall. My husband had the curry bowl with Tofu. The curry was great and not spicy, just great flavor! They have this awesome part of a Food truck for the kitchen! It's a real food truck! They have designed the place with corrugated walls and fun pictures. A nice place with good vibes! My husband is from Hawaii, so we try most the Hawaiian places where we live. So far this is our favorite, as the food is cooked great, chicken still moist but cooked right! They are open during the day, check their hours, because it's definitely worth stopping by for some tasty Hawaiian fare! Mahalo! read more

If you had the great pleasure of eating food at Kenji's when they were a food truck, you're in luck. Kenji's has a restaurant that's open 5 days a week- 10-4 pm. Kenji's usually has the longest lines at the food truck events and for good reason. The kalua pork tacos are some of the best on earth. Great flavor, good amount of spice and wonderful cucumber mix. Why did I wait so long to try this place?! Better late than never, I guess! Luckily I live super close, so I called in an order to go for lunch. When I saw that they have a Japanese curry bowl, I knew I had to try it, as it's a comfort food I haven't eaten in awhile! I was not disappointed - the sauce was rich & savory, smothering delicious potatoes, carrots, and onions, with your choice of beef, chicken, tofu or mushroom, as well. I went vegetarian and ordered it with mushrooms - so satisfying! Hiding underneath the generous portion of curry is a bed of steamed rice, and the whole dish is finished off with a red pickled ginger topping. I truly cannot wait to work my way through the rest of the menu; the only other item I ordered this visit was a side of the macaroni salad, and I gobbled up every morsel. Thanks, Kenji's!! read more

This place is awesome! We went here for lunch and didn't realize the truck is in the restaurant! I couldn't believe the flavor off of this chicken, incredible. I am always on the lookout for places that have Hawaii style plate lunch and found this one by chance. Looked really cool in the pics and decided to try them out. They are located on the southside of Reno Tahoe International Airport and tucked away in a small strip mall. The colorful sign above will let you know your in the right place. There are picnic style benches outside and the inside has a few small tables and chairs. The decor of the interior is like an industrial look and if you really want to see this type of look, use their restroom. The menu is not large, but has a good selection. We chose the BBQ chicken plate lunch with a pork street taco on the side. Both came out really fast. The chicken was tender with good flavor, definitely not salty. The pork taco was also very flavorful and messy! This place has limited hours of 10-6pm so you won't be able to eat there anytime you want but it is good. read more

Kenji's - Really cool place. Prices are what they are... things are going up - Barbeque Near Me - Reno, Nevada

This is a hidden gem tucked away in a nondescript shopping area. The mature trees lining Longley provide a blockade to easily view the front door. And, let me repeat the restaurant is really on Longley. The Spring Drive address does not help orient customers to their spot. I have enjoyed numerous menu items with their Japanese noodles a particular favorite. Food is prepared well, especially for takeout/to-go options. The lunch hour can be busy so be prepared if you arrive during peak hours. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Beware there is almost no seating inside and few options outside. I have never stayed on site to enjoy my meals. read more

Today (5/23/18), Kenji's Food Truck stopped by our office. I obviously had to get something, so during my break, I quickly made an order. My friend also came out and ordered something as well. She ordered two steak tacos, and I ordered a Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Plate. I definitely sampled some of my friend's tacos and they were so refreshing. Imagine biting into a mildly soft tortilla, tender beef and the crunch of the red onions and cilantro gives that taco a most satisfying bite. I should have ordered some myself! My Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Plate was so delicious. Again, their mac salad stands out and I can't get enough of it. The char on the BBQ chicken accompanied with their glaze gives that chicken so much flavor. Next time, I'll be sure to order the Kalua Pork and Cabbage! I love this place! The dining area may be a little tight especially around lunch time but it's worth the wait! It's slightly tucked away past the mini mart and parking is generally okay! I love the Hawaiian BBQ beef plate. It comes with rice and a side. The sauce is absolutely delicious and it's not overpowered by a bunch of fruit or anything.
