Updating this review to 5 stars! The food remained amazing as before, but what drove me to a 5 was the sensational service. They took such good care of us both with a sit down and take out order at the same time. The tacos ($2.25 each) were robust with flavor and can add up to a good meal, plus the macaroni salad ($2) is still one of my all time favorites. New this time, we tried the pulled pork quesadilla and was absolutely blown away. Tons of flavor and an amazing crunch to the tortilla. This is now a regular go to for lunch after such great, consistent experiences. read more

First time trying Hawaiian food, it was delicious. The portions were huge, I got the spicy tofu stir fry. I couldn't get a picture, I was starving and devoured the food. I was very pleased with the prices and the flavors. The spot is very cute, it has a good truck in the actual restaurant and the food was ready pretty quickly as well. I will be returning read more

Stopped for lunch before a flight. Had chicken salad and bbq chicken combo- both excellent. Alot to eat! Definitely getting chicken salad again! Great dressing! Abit chili inside but fun vibe. Only which they had hot tea or coffee. Service friendly and timely . read more

Really good first time there. As I was sitting in car ex co- workers came out and raved about how good it was and he was right.

Wow can I just say this place is amazing overall. The shop is small but it is beautifully decorated to give it that Hawaiian vibe. We were greeted as soon as we entered and the customer service was above and beyond. Food was amazing full of flavor. Best part is you are able to add on meats for a reasonable price. Next time I'm up in Reno area I will stop there again!! read more

Kenji's - Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Plate with beef add on - Barbeque Near Me - Reno, Nevada

With take out food being de rigueur these days, Kenji's was hiding in plain sight near the corner of Peckham and Spring. Getting 'local style' food in Reno is becoming more common, but Kenji's has already rolled the Aloha into its food and service. I ordered online and my meal was ready before I got there. Service was wonderful and the owners are actually related to folks we know back on Maui! The spicy tofu stir fry gives you a delightful mix of veggies with firm and spicy tofu. You get rice (yum) and a side (like mac salad or coleslaw.) Check out the menu in the pictures. If you've never accidentally mixed your rice with a bit of Mac salad, you are missing one of the special treats of local cuisine! So, go to Kenji's for a great lunch or early dinner. read more

I heard about this place and the person was like "if you like L&L, you will LOVE Kenji's" Well, I do not plan on going to L&L anymore. Keniji's is so much better (and I've never gotten sick from their food - which is a HUGE bonus). read more

Tried this place for the first time after hearing the numerous good reviews from co-workers. I decided to try the Hawaiian chicken and rice plate. The chicken was alittle dry but did have a very good taste to it. They give way too much plain white rice with the plate which ended up going to waste. The macaroni Salad I didn't care for it was too strong and just had an off taste. Their pricing is high for the quality and I couldn't bring myself to ever try them again unfortunately. read more

Kenji's - Hawaiin BBQ chicken - Barbeque Near Me - Reno, Nevada

Kenji's is a great spot to grab a bite to eat. I work nearby and have had the bbq chicken plate many times, always fresh hot and delicious. Pro tip: add egg to the bbq plate (and spam too if youre really hungry!) I have also had the spam musubi, japanese style curry, fried rice, and the quesadilla. Never had a bad experience. The portions are large and generous, the ingredients are quality and the service is probably the friendliest in town. Give them a try if you're in the area and want some super delicious hawaiian food. read more

This review is for Kenji restaurant. For years I have heard great things about the Kenji food truck but never got around to trying it. Today though I went to Kenji's restaurant and all I can say is, "Uh yea, that is really good!" I ordered the pork sliders and they were delicious and filling. Three sliders with cole slaw and their spicy sauce. So good! Great price for the amount of food and taste. I will be going back! read more

Not sure why I haven't visited Kenjis before today, but I will make sure to frequent this spot a lot more! I had the mushroom and tofu tacos along with the fried noodles. The flavors are legit and the pickled vegetables on their tacos n noodles are the bomb, I highly recommend swinging by this truck to mortar spot ! So frigging good! read more

We went yesterday to try them out. They were very friendly and the service was good. I ordered Spicy Tofu and my partner had teriyaki chicken. About the Tofu: you must like your food Very Spicy... I got tears in my eyes it was so hot! I should have asked, so it's my own fault. The chicken was excellent and I will try it next time. Yes, we will be going back! The inside of the restaurant is very cute, making it look like a food truck. I appreciate the reviews of past eaters as they encouraged us to go there. It's a little out of the way for us but worth it! read more

I've been super excited to try out the brick and mortar Kenji's in hope it was just as good as the food truck. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed, if anything the brick and mortar quality of food was even better than the food truck. We were greeted by the very friendly person being the counter and he took our order. We sat outside in the cute little courtyard. We were brought our food shortly after being seated and the staff checked on us multiple times. The food was absolutely amazing, cooked perfectly using obviously fresh ingredients. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and edamame. The edamame was so different than any I've ever had before, they sautéed the pods in a slightly spicy seasoning, and they were SO GOOD. And the rice was cooked perfectly, super sticky and an amazing base for the delicious BBQ chicken sauce. I definitely recommend this location, it's a great place for lunch, super cute interior, great staff, and even better food. read more

I'm so glad these guys have a restaurant now!!! Lunch time rush gets a little bit busy, so I recommend ordering ahead. Otherwise food is super awesome, I love their Mac salad. It's the perfect side dish (perfect balance of not sweet but not too salty). BBQ chicken plate is always a "go-to"! Never disappoints. read more

As good as I had remembered! I had their tofu tacos way back years ago from their food truck and loved it! I'm glad they opened up a permanent location. We had of course the tofu tacos and I decided to be a bit bold and go for their fried udon noodles with tofu. I was iffy about having mayo on top but it was delicious! So rich in flavor! There's a fair amount of tables for a such a small place and I love places that are local! Service was great too! And prices weren't bad either. Will be back when I'm in town next! read more

I didn't even know this place was here! The decor inside is adorable and the music is really nice. Super good ambiance. We ordered every taco on the menu, it took about 15 minutes to get out to us but they were all so delicious! The beef and pork ones were definitely our favorites. read more

The food and portions were amazing! Loved all of the decor and atmosphere of eating inside. Will be back to try some more off the menu.

Kenji's is one of my favorite restaurants in town. They provide spot on Hawaiian barbecue for fair prices. I usually pick up around lunch time and they're good at handling a rush & have an easy to use online ordering system. I usually get the barbecue chicken plate with a scoop of mac salad and rice. The portion size is huge for the price and sometimes I can't even finish it all. When I want a special treat I throw a spam musubi on to my order as well. read more

Super small. Super clean. Super cool interior. Super delicious food. Their tofu taco is amazing. Savory, tangy, soft, crunchy, juicy, perfection. I had one yesterday and I am currently tying to figure out how I can get someone to bring me 3 to work today. I hope they get busy enough to justify expanding their hours, but for now I'll have to settle for lunch ish. read more

This is a great lunch spot and it is super cute. When you walk in there is a food truck right in the restaurant. Bright orange chairs and tables are peppered throughout and even though it is small each feels like an intimate setting. They really managed to give this small space great ambiance. Someone takes your order at the counter and they bring it to you when it is ready. The food is great also. They have a little bit of everything; chicken, beef, tofu, cabbage. I had the fried Udon noodles and they were really great. The meat, I had beef, was teriyaki flavored with pickled ginger, a garlic citrus mayo and cabbage. The noodles were tender and warm soaking up all the sauces. It was a great combination of flavors. The service is friendly and the food comes out quickly even when they are busy as they were today. I will definitely go back. read more

Over 2 years since I reviewed Kenji's and I have to say they are just as good now as they were then, if not better. Their service is consistently good and their food totally 'Ono! Delicious! Now that they have an actual restaurant, I don't have to stalk them on FB for their truck location to get my Hawaiian fusion taco fix. Everything on their menu is delicious, with my faves being the kahlua pork tacos and their Kenji's chicken salad. If you haven't tried out Kenji's yet, you definitely have to, you'll get delicious food, great service and all for an affordable price. read more

Wow what a cool tucked away spot! The inside is beautiful with a food truck on the inside. The service was helpful. My wife and I just moved to Reno from Hawaii and we were looking for some Hawaii style cuisine. We stumbled upon Kenji's and met Joe. In addition to the AWESOME food and ambiance of the restaurant, Joe was extremely friendly. Our entire experience there truly felt like being back home in Hawaii. We'll definitely be back along with our Hawaii local friends and family! Very late and quick post! Finally had a chance to visit this place back in February or March before the Covid situation. When you're from Hawaii, and you here of all the places with local island style food, this was always one of the names that would pop up. Kenjis did not disappoint. Ok, don't friggin judge me, but, I actually ate here about a half hour after eating lunch. First, we loved the interior of this place with their full sized lunch wagon inside! Talked with pretty much all the staff, some of whom were from back home in Hawaii. They were all so friendly including the two owners who we met. They all had the Aloha Spirit! Food was good too! I believe between all of us, we had the couple Teri Beef plates, Kalua Pig and Cabbage plate and I forget what else. Food was ono and their Mac Salad was Bomb Shakas Cheee Hooo! Oh, and they even carry Hawaiian Sun drinks! Chaaaa fricken Ching!!! Good amount of seats inside and I believe the even had some outdoor seating as well. Anyways, this is a hard one to rate just because it's been awhile since we were there. I think overall I give them a 4.2145832. This truck stopped by my office for lunch. The food was soo tasty. I had the potstickers and the udon noodles. since we have a lot of employees, there was a bit of a line, but it went by quickly. I had my food in about 10 min. the best thing is the pricing is on point! it seems lately that the food trucks are getting more expensive lately and the quality/quantity does not match that increase.
