At 12600 Eastern Avenue, Kelly's Kitchen & Bakery is a small mom &a pop style restaurant that has everything you can ask for from all day breakfast to custom cakes and desserts. The shrimp salad is outrageously good and Kelly and her dad George are very friendly, he often comes and sits with us while we're dining and my 7 year old loves him. I eat here so often that I can't just isolate one food to talk about because Kelly is OCDish about making sure that every dish she prepares is amazingly delicious! Shrimp wraps are a personal favorite of mine and the chicken tenders are a close second. But there is NOTHING on the menu that you find disappointing. My wife wanted to meet somewhere for lunch, so I picked this spot which was pretty much a mid point for us. Pretty easy to find with lots of positive Yelp reviews. Pros: The actual meals were very good, and the lady working the counter was friendly. Breakfast all day is nice. Portions are large. Prices are low. Cons: The wait was unreasonable. There were only 3 tables occupied and it took just about 45 minutes to get our food. Plus our pastries seemed a bit soggy and there were flies in the display case. So, we probably won't be back, unless we called ahead and ordered carry out. It's not great for a sit-down restaurant with dim lighting and not legit table service. read more

Even though the place is not fancy and does not have a lot of advertisement, it is awesome! You get so much food for a cheap price. You would think cheap price nasty food, wrong! The food is amazing. The service on the other hand can be a little slow, but I think its because so many people order take out and they don't have a lot of staff there to keep up with the orders. But, other then that it is a great place to eat if you are looking for something good and reasonable. I would recommend the Kelly's Breakfast with the strawberry jelly/jam on the side and the fish sub is great too!!! Great little place, nothing fancy, but the food is great. Haven't tried the baked goods, but they look terrific.

I read all the raving reviews and had to make a trip out to try their breakfast myself, holy moly was I impressed. If you're looking for some good home cooked meals, this is the place to go! Their portions were out of this world, leftovers for days, and the prices were beyond reasonable. This place used to be George's, which I actually reviewed many moons ago. Kelly is his daughter, and George still works there, and has been there every time I've been in. It looks like she really puts everything she has into this little place. From what they tell me, everything that can be baked is baked fresh in house. I have had breakfast here and a few different lunches. It's become my go to place if I want to order out for lunch. They do have seating, if you choose. Order and pay, then they'll bring it out to you. I really wish this girl could get some publicity, because her food tastes good. I had a chicken parm sub last week that was real honest to god chicken breast, hand breaded on a fresh roll. I had french toast a few weeks before that that was incredible, and CHEAP. Portions are fantastic, too. Parking area doesn't really support the amount of seating available, and inside could use a little brightness, but Kelly is always happy, smiling and cooking when I'm there. I visited Kelly's for breakfast and asked for an item that I thought was on the menu but wasn't. Kelly herself, after explaining the miscommunication was still happy to oblige. Just smelling the deliciousness and talking with the welcoming staff, I knew the food was going to be great and made with care. Still I was worried that since I was traveling 20 minutes before I could dig in that the food wouldn't keep. My friend got the "bomblette" (see the pictures/not on the menu) and I got a breakfast burrito. Both were AMAZING and stood up to the travel well. I was thoroughly impressed. I'm always a proponent of supporting local mom & pop shops rather than going to big chains. This place never disappoints. It is a family run place with giant proportions and very small prices.... it's actually kind of unbelievable how far your dollar goes. They are sooo friendly, and you are guaranteed a beautiful smile by Miss Kelly herself when you walk in. Their value in the community is obvious when they seem to know every customer that walks in! The food is made to order and incredibly delicious. Their baked goods vary constantly, but there is always an assortment of options. Their cakes are KILLER... I highly recommend the Jewish Apple. My biggest plug for this place is the specialty cakes - they make BEAUTIFUL cakes for birthdays, weddings, etc.... just ask to see some pictures when you go in. My coworker brought the office a fruit tart from Kelly's. I usually try fruit tarts since they're so pretty, but find that they have an unnecessary and artificial tasting sugar glaze on the fruit. Damn good breakfast!! They give you a massive amount of food for a great price. Denny's will charge you 25% more for a 1/3 less than what Kelly's will give you. They definitely don't skimp you on butter and syrup either, I have rarely had to ask for more when I go. The service is sweet too, you go right up to the counter and watch them cook breakfast while you wait to order your own. The dining room is minuscule but cozy enough to have many groups there comfortably. It's just a good ol' down home breakfast joint. Go there before a day of sailing and you'll be good all day. read more

It's not pretty inside or out but the food is great! The breakfast sandwiches, especially on a Texas-sized croissant, are fantastic and they serve them all day. The cookies are tasty and the pies and cakes look beautiful. Haven't tasted one yet, though. It's clear that the people who work here work hard and care about their business. Whenever visiting from Cali, we always go to Kelly's at least once each trip for breakfast. The menu item ( Kelly's Special) is terrific and almost enough food for two. Modest physical surroundings but the food is as good as breakfast gets. I wanted to love this place. It local. The staff is friendly and mostly family. The people eating there seemed to all feel like family. Some in my new community love this place. The prices are low, I went four times. I have never been back. For breakfast the eggs are cooked on the fryer and not fluffed just pushed together. The breakfast burrito is filled with plain, greasy fried potatoes and very little taste. The menu has mostly fried food and everything seems to be made on that fryer and a deep fat one. Now let's talk about the cleanliness. Wow! its a flashback from the 90's mauve and there is a dirty rug floor. I would be happy to pay a little more just to have a clean place to eat. This area is step back in time aesthetically and socially. For that reason we would not return, much to the patrons and employees delight. It comes with 2 meats, potatoes, eggs, french toast, pancakes, or waffle. The food was fresh and hot. The two large pancakes were tasty. I wasn't a fan of the french toast. The batter lacked flavor and the excess batter was like having sweet scrambled eggs on bread. The potatoes were fine, but peppers and onions would have given them another level of flavor. They use quality bacon and serve hearty portions. Overall, not a bad breakfast, but nothing that made me say yummy! Will we return? No. Waiting for our food was the most awkward 15 minutes of my week. Hubby told me that he doesn't mind being my Yelp wing man, but not in businesses/areas like this that aren't welcoming. read more

Huge portions for cheap. the food taste was pretty nasty tho. I got the fried fish. It was right on the menu and the girl who took my order at the counter looked at me like I had 5 heads. I had to explain what it was but it was on the menu. When we got our food about 45 minutes after ordering the fish was the size of my head and there was so much egg in the batter it tasted like fish and eggs. It was disgusting. It was also dark and not clean. Really uncomfortable atmosphere. The only reason I will end up going back is if my boyfriend makes me because he loves it there for some reason but I just hope it's better. read more

My husband and I came early morning for breakfast. I ordered the chipped beef breakfast and he ordered one of the specials at the top of the menu. While it looks like the place is frequented by locals and does serve food early it's not great. The pancakes weren't cooked in the middle and the gravy was pretty bland. Home fries were delicious. They tasted like they were cooked in bacon grease. With all that in mind we would not be eating here again. read more

We were here last time for some Maryland crab soup, and two peanut butter cookies. We were impressed by the selection of bakery items available, but didn't really buy much because of the price. The price I paid for my crab soup was kind of expensive for the size of my soup container. I was a little disappointed, that's for sure. The peanut butter cookies were pretty good though.
