We stopped in for breakfast and there were five in our party. I had a Philly Cheese Steak omelet which was tasty but the best part was the side. Besides the standard side of toast or biscuit, you can get a choice of a donut. My coconut chocolate donut was delicious, very moist. Fortunately for Kellyn's Cafe it is a popular spot for Salisbury University students, however there is no waiting area in the restaurant. Our party of five were almost standing on top of people at their tables as we were waiting for a table. Be aware very tight seating in the cafe. read more

We were looking for a place to stop for breakfast to support local businesses while on our way to Ocean City and the beach for our summer vacation. This restaurant hit the spot. The coffee was great! Nice and hot, good flavor and the server brought extra creamer and sugar, just in case I changed my mind. The homemade donuts are such a hit! They are a great appetizer for breakfast and the entire family can find some flavor or variety that they love. From plain vanilla to chocolate to rainbow sprinkles, there is something for everyone! Best of all, it was great for us to eat the donuts and talk about them, which made great use of the time ... because once we were done, our food was ready! Genius! The breakfasts we ordered ranged from oatmeal and brown sugar to omelettes and a hungry man's breakfast of eggs, bacon, eggs and toast. Everything was hot, fresh and practically made right before your eyes. The atmosphere in the restaurant was friendly and reminded us of the small, hometown feel that one gets in a local diner ... because this is such a place! Who doesn't love a cafe? Inviting and cozy like your favorite blanket! I loved this cafe but they don't deliver. I took therapy dog " Jax" and went to pick up lunch . Best ever place for lunch with incredible service and food. Lunch special under $7.00 grilled cheese with soup of the day tomato (made with milk) Yum! The pick 3 salad $12.00 Greek salad with charbroiled chicken ... a winner ! My other friend said egg , cheese , bacon bagel with home fries was right on . We ordered half dozen of the most delish donuts ! Loved the " sand dollar" donut with creamy vanilla and cinnamon ! Never had a crispy donut ! I'll be back. This is the sort of place I love! Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich and what do you know, they make fresh donuts too! I wish I would have known this before I went to the chain place and got the average box of donuts for a customer! Love this, homemade and hand dipped! I got the breakfast sandwich, egg and cheese with some potatoes . The sandwich came on a bun which I wasn't expecting but the bun was delicious. Warm, tender with a nice flavor to it. Probably would have preferred a biscuit but that is just me, no complaints! This is the sort of place I would stop in all the time if I lived in the area. Honestly just okay. It was pretty crowded when we were there and as our first time, were not sure if we were supposed to sit down, order at the front, or what. We felt a little lost and no one seemed to notice or try and help. Ended up sitting at an open table and ordered two breakfast sandwiches: Kafe's Health Nut and Egg & Cheddar Cheese. Both were fine, but super basic and lacked some flavor (couldn't tell that there was cheese on the health nut). Staff was okay and don't think I would go back. A pleasantly unexpected great experience. The wait staff and counter attendants were the friendly group of girls I've encounters in a small business in a long time. They are prompt, attentive, and wear smiles that would brighten anyones day. When I entered the restaurant, it was overwhelmingly busy, with a group of people patiently waiting. The first thing shown is there donut display case which was attentively being stocked by a male worker. Lots of choices and they were fresh. I waited 10 minutes for a table and was completely ok with the wait. The menu is small. The food was fantastic and the waitress made accommodations based off dietary needs. The coffee was lovely. I spent several years in Salisbury after college in the 1990s. If Kellyns had been there then I would've surely been a regular. Fantastic and very affordable omelette x 2 and two coffees came in under $25 which is unheard of in this day and age. Food was plentiful and terrific. Attentive service even outside. Yes! Our first time here. They were so friendly. It's very clean inside, and plenty of options on the menu. I got the creamed chipped beef on a biscuit with home fries, which isn't always good. But at this place it was delicious! Donuts are similar to fractured prune just not as heavy. They had a sign that says bring your own 16oz travel coffee mug, for $1.50 they'll fill you up. We were visiting friends on a rainy day. The restaurant wasn't busy. Our server was a nice young gal who was probably working for the first time. She was kind and a bit inexperienced. The business is new and I think the owners can help fix the hiccups with their young crew. The water tasted off and worse than DC tap. If it hadn't been raining, I would have retrieved my water bottle from the car. If you want water, ask for tap water and not the water that is run through the drink machine. The prices are cheap. The portions were small, except for the chipped beef gravy. Feedback from our group: The omelette was flat, but good. When I picture an omelette, I see a burrito like shape filled with cheese, onions and spinach - not flat like a pancake. The fried potatoes were decent. The scrapple was okay. The French toast was plain and better with syrup. The biscuit was yummy. The creamed chip beef was the best item. You can have a decent breakfast for under $8. The owner asked how things were and offered to give us a freshly made donut. There are approximately 15 flavors. If you look at the donuts on display, you aren't seeing all of the choices. The donut was sweet and good. The location was convenient. The diner was cute. The interior will get a new look inside. We enjoyed the music theme. If you just want donuts, you could get a dozen different flavors. Bonus points for having banana flavored icing. read more

We stopped here in route to southern Virginia. We were already in the car a few hours and hungry. It was the fourth of July so our first choice was closed. We found Kelly's on Yelp and our expectations were high based on the positive reviews. The inside is plain but clean. I felt like they needed more branding, color, decor, or something to keep it from feeling so sterile. While they say they're a cafe it felt more like a cafeteria, and that they were struggling from a bit of identity crisis. The menu was limited and honestly I expected more. I thought they'd have some creative wrap or sandwich options but they were all pretty basic. They serve breakfast all day, which hubby got, while I got lunch. I love me some fried pickles so when I saw them on the menu I had to get an order. A BLT and sweet tea rounded out my meal. Hubby ordered a chipped corn beef breakfast meal. The fried pickles were a bit of a disappointment. The breading was nice and possibly contained cornmeal but the flavor was off. I detected a hint of Old Bay which wasn't a good compliment. It took many sips of sweet tea for that taste to leave my mouth. The ranch that was served with it was flat and very one note. When I inquired to the waitress about the use of Old Bay the chef said there isn't any but "didn't know what the "seasoning" consisted of" which tells me they're using some sort of mix - my guess is a breading mix intended for fish. The BLT on the other hand was perfect. The bread was thick and nicely toasted, the bacon crispy and of good quality. Had the BLT been the only thing I ordered this would have been a 4 star review. Hubby said his corned beef had a metallic taste and you could see that it was overly floured. He didn't care for his home fries either and left hungry and grouchy. Being that so many raved about their donuts and hubby was still famished, he got one to go. Saying it was no better or worse than store bought. Overall it was an ok experience, but not anyplace I'd shout out as being great. SIDENOTE: there's a sign on the register with a number to text for a $5 off $20 code. I did it while we were dining and the code was texted to me by the time the check came. Cha-ching! read more
