I've been wanting to try some quality espresso in the US, after enjoying lots of it on a recent Italian trip. On my ride down to Virginia to visit family, I saw Rise Up Coffee and figured it's worth a shot. The shop is very nice. Modern and clean. Staff was friendly. The worker made a nice recommendation of a cinammon scone. She also freshly ground coffee for my double shot of espresso. The scone ended up being very good. Not one of those dry and crumbly scones, nice and tender. The espresso itself was awesome! There was depth of flavor to it, not just a strong cup of coffee, it had some complexity. Excellent coffee options and their breakfast food never misses! Good frozen hot chocolate as well. I have had the Rise Up Burrito and it is so good! The green salsa they give you with it is outstanding! Not too spicy and fresh flavor. The Breakfast Tots are really good as well. The sauce they give with the tots is spicy and I love it! The Biscuit Sandwiches are big and full of flavor, biscuits are fresh made and delicious. Staff is friendly and service is usually quick for drinks. So we were taking coffee orders on the hottest humid day in the 'bury and one of our colleagues tells us ,"You should never drink coffee after 3 p.m." Needing that midday brew for a burst we went ahead and ignored him. We ordered three rejuvenating and refreshing iced coffees with caramel, and chocolate. Fast forward, I suppose I'm caffeine sensitive it took 6 to 8 hours for the caffeine to wear off which totally disrupted my sleep. He was right! I was alert and awake for hours. The coffee is great. Outstanding even. However...I think they are so surprisingly bad with their time management in making food they should just not offer it. WHEN it comes out it's good, but...oh boy...the amount of time it takes... Today's example... 10 minutes to warm up a muffin...and I had to remind them I was waiting for it. It's been 20 minutes since I ordered one breakfast sandwich and they still haven't STARTED it. Stopped in for early morning breakfast and coffee and had a cappuccino and breakfast sandwich. The cappuccino was ok, I prefer it dry and it was medium wet so I went back to add more espresso. For the breakfast sandwich I got bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked bacon and egg hit the spot. Great little spot. Coffee creations better/as good as Starbucks and more reasonably priced. Breakfast sandwich biscuit was delicious with egg and bacon. Açaí bowl was beautifully created and "berry" delicious. Avocado toast was good sized with an egg added. My "picky" grandson had the pumpkin muffin and a side of bacon. He devoured both. I would have given it a 5, but they had said they'd call my name when the order was ready. We waited until I asked about it - it had been sitting on the counter, name on the bag, but never called. I was not familiar with this company but wanted to try something different when I moved back to the area. I was at another restaurant that served Rise Up coffee and figured I would go to one of their locations. I wasn't impressed! I was passing through town and needed coffee to start the day. The coffee juts wasn't the greatest! I asked for a coffee drip winter blend coffee with frothed milk! The lady behind the counter says we don't have that type of milk! Okay, do you know how to make a cappuccino I want the steamed milk in my coffee. She proceeds to say okay and gives me coffee with just half and half! I was seriously hoping for great coffee. It was 8 bucks for a coffee and hot chocolate. Not too bad price wise and understand I think there is no price to high for that delicious cup of coffee first thing in the morning!! The kiddo loved their hot chocolate. Their online presence doesn't have access to their food menu. Their mission of being "local" seems more important than having full access to their offerings. The beach town (Ocean City) has only stools, with no backs, making it hard for older persons with balance issues and fatigue challenges. The drive they in downtown Salisbury was clearly a drive-they on their web page. The more comfortable of the 3 is the College St. attire in Salisbury. Great baristas and teams, could maybe improve the roast, eliminating some of bitterness. The beans are flavorful and robust, so good sourcing. The pull by the baristas isn't long adding to bitterness so maybe adjusting the roast? Great teams, good ingredients, maybe a bit more balance of focus on the end user as well as the local local local thing and you'd have a great coffeehouse. Designer of interiors has got the imaging right, but maybe a cushion or two on the benches? Or backs on a few seats for your regulars? Thinking it's close, here, but not quite yet. read more

The only downside is that it takes them a long time (10mins on average per person upwards to 25minutes) to prepare your meal(you can order ahead, but only on the website not by phone), and the seating is limited. Other than that this is a very good place to go to have a very good breakfast for under $15. My meal was "the local" which is a burrito ($10)with eggs, and two choices of meat(I chose bacon and sausage) and potatoes. I also ordered a coffee(caramel macchiato $4) The total was $15.00 - BONUS: buy and load their gift card with $25 and you get a free coffee. (I elected to go with the coffee, which is a specialty drink, and saved four dollars). Ordered from here for the first time. Got takeout. Avocado toast - "guacamole" topping looks and tastes like it was made yesterday (turning brown). Tots were probably made yesterday as well and refried. Looked horrible and tasted bad. Husbands scrambled eggs looked terrible as well but the smell was worse. I love Chai and ordered it as a previous reviewer raved about it. It was drinkable but not great. Good? Eh, just drinkable. This. Is. My. Spot. I live out of state. Way out of state, NY to be exact. But Rise Up Coffee is our morning coffee and breakfast every time we visit here. The coffee is rich and never burnt. The hot coco was smooth. I had the biscuits and gravy (so. good) just the right ratio of creamy and meaty. Came with some crispy potatoes a perfectly cooked over easy egg. The biscuits are buttery and flaky. He has the Hot Honey Chicken. The time we waited for the freshly fired chicken wasn't long considering we watched them prepare it right from the front. Rise Up is an adorable coffee shop. Everything about it plays into the "locals" feeling that I, along with many others, love! The location is on the small side, but is packed with cute decal. The seating is set up smart as well. I would have no problem coming here to do work, and even saw a few people doing this. Overall, the shop itself is great. The coffee, of course, is very good. My group of three ordered two iced chai lattes, and an iced mocha. The two adored their drinks. Mine was tasty, but had far too much of the pumpkin flavoring. It created a thick and syrupy feeling. The next time I went to Rise Up, I shared a hot coffee with my partner, which was delicious! I am excited to go back as soon as I can to grab another one. I came here on a Saturday morning around 7:30 in June 2019 while in Salisbury for work. This place looked like it had super generous hours as well as a great food/drink menu, so I was glad to have had it as an option. The coffeehouse was actually pretty busy given how early it was on a Saturday; it seemed like there were plenty of regulars who were on very friendly terms with the employees and found it was a good place to get some work done. I can imagine the parking lot can get tight during busy hours, but there was plenty of parking available when I arrived. I ordered an açaí bowl and an iced coffee to stay. I was a little disappointed the coffee came in a plastic cup (plus a paper straw), since it didn't seem very eco-friendly, but maybe they wanted to give you the option of taking it with you if you didn't finish it. The açaí bowl was made-to-order and therefore took a few minutes to come out; it was beautifully presented and very tasty and filling. I didn't ask, but I think it can easily be made vegan by excluding the honey. The atmosphere was really chill and modern, and the space benefited from a lot of natural light. There were also a few tables outside. It's definitely a nice place if you need to work or read, and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely love to come back if I'm ever back in Salisbury to try more of the menu! There are 2 unisex restrooms. read more

Surprisingly great coffee shop for a town this size. The coffee drinks were on point and a half step above Starbucks, probably due to the fresh roasted coffee beans. The food was really good. Local flavor, and what a flavor it is! This place is as original as comes! The coffee if strong and tasty, the food is awesome but please don't count weight-watchers points! Frankly, as a disciple on the alter of caffeine, RiseUp is amazing. Star bucks is the McDonalds of the area coffee by comparison, plus I don't have to figure out how to get a damn plain cup of coffee. Grandi, ultra/mega Venti, Magnum, big....I don't know. RiseUp is spreading over the Eastern Shore like wildfire. The beans grind nicely, and brew well at home. If you are a 'caffeine kitchen chemist', the beans are roasted well and perform nicely. I also buy coffee from Mud Coffee in Manhattan (delivered) and RiseUp is a serious rival. My only criticism is that they recently dropped the size of the bag and raised the price...bad form! I love rise up! It's the cutest little town coffee shop that has good food, drinks and cute apparel for sale. The indoor seating is currently closed unfortunately but there are usually at least 3 tables and 2 picnic tables to sit at outside. I studied here one weekend and the wifi worked perfectly well! The açaí bowl is very yummy and a decent portion size. I also enjoy their iced lattes and my bf enjoyed their nitro brew. Overall - highly recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Staff was wildly friendly and food was great. I ordered online, which was a smooth process. When I arrived it was pretty busy (Saturday morning), but when the guy ringing up orders had a minute he made a point to check up on my order status and not leave me hanging (without me asking at all).
