Well, I was so happy they opened again, but after visiting for lunch on Thursday April 10, 2025 did not have great experience. My friend and I went to lunch, ordered crab soup, after sitting down , apparently new counter worker, who took our orders, stated only 1 serving of soup left. I gave to my friend and ordered quiche. It was good with side salad, but what I thought was dressing , after I put on salad ,was BBQ sauce. Why wasn't I told? Waitress was attentive, but forgot friends coke, which she had not charged for, so I had to pay cash for that. Only 2 people working behind counter, but just starting lunch crowd, so don't know how they made it. I wish good luck to Pemberton, but needs to spiff up wait staff? Only would give 3 star at this point. I will try again, but hope they improve. Food was good. read more

My sister and I stopped by this coffee shop on our way through this town. It's a nice place with lots of outdoor seating by the water. The food, drinks and service were good. We had their Mac and cheese, house made chai and soup of the day. The owner was so nice and talked to us. They have a lot of events going on all week. Wish we were locals because we would have went to their events including an Afrobeats event this Saturday. Please check them out! read more

A very cozy but expansive house with a massive deck overlooking a pond is room for a dozen coffee klatches. I spent an hour reading Jung the only patron, which was enjoyable but also a shame--more people need to frequent this great Third Place. Although we we're looking for a nice big breakfast with omelets, etc, we made do with sandwiches & quiche. Great coffee, fun live music on the lanai. Enthusiastic 5 stars! This is, hands down, my favorite coffee joint in the Mid-Atlantic. I'd give them another star if I could! Rustic charm and delicious drinks and snacks! Pemberton Coffeehouse is set, scenically, on the Nanticoke river. While I would rarely associate the word "scenic" with anything having to do with Salisbury, MD, no other word applies better here. The house's (yes, it is an actual house) exterior and yard, fit so well with the serene curve in the river lying just beyond the rear deck. And what a view! Moving indoors, the house is split into three distinct areas: a glassed in wrap-around front porch, the main room, and the back porch leading out onto the deck. Each have their own unique qualities. I'm particularly taken with the exposed wood in the floor and structure. It lends a country charm to the establishment. The coffee is, plainly speaking, excellent. Their pumpkin spice latté puts every local coffee joint to shame. But the snacks! The pastries are marvelous and all locally sourced. The bread pudding and blueberry scone are simply magnificent. Their cheeky trick with the bread pudding: it's challah based. My sole complaint: their "Reubenator" sandwich did nothing for me. While they have a panini "machine", I'd tend to steer clear of the sandwiches. Come for the serene venue, the coffee, and the snacks. Stay a while because of same. I sure do! read more

The coffee was awful- tasted like instant coffee and was pretty watered down. I mean for a coffeehouse I was fairly disappointed it wasn't better. As far as breakfast goes I got a waffle and it was decent but definitely overpriced, as was the coffee. The views were pretty, it's right on the river. I'm writing my review as I leave because this place is just that amazing. Ive driven by this place a few times and always wanted to go in. And this sad overcast day was the perfect excuse. We ended up getting there late (at around 3:30) but Mimi didn't seem to mind at all and answered any questions me and my friend had. And just as everyone has said everything was delicious. I got the Curry chicken salad sandwich and he the Mediterranean grilled cheese and both were delicious. Also, highly recommend the cafe de olla it's deliciously spicy, like a Mexican hot chocolate with a caffeine kick and my chocolate fluffy which is perfectly named because it's like drinking a cloud. The view is incredible and the interior is incredible so cozy and warm but not crowded feeling at all. Truly an awesome place and will totally be coming back! read more

I'm new to Salisbury and am looking for my new go-to coffee place and was excited to see Pemberton Coffeehouse right down the street from work. How convenient! I can stop by on my way into the office and grab coffee and breakfast...... except they don't open until 8am. How bizarre a coffee place doesn't open early for those on their way to work. I left the empty parking lot at 7:50a, and tried again on my lunch break. Mixed feeling still, the dirty chai was the best I ever had, but I got what was the smallest piece of baklava ever. Paid almost 10 bucks for both which was quiet some sticker shock. I've come from a larger city so I'm comfortable with paying more for quality. But the size of the slices at that price will be a hard pass if the future. I recommend going on your lunch break for the drinks and avoiding the pastries altogether. read more

Do not be deceived by this scenic little house, backing up to the Nanticoke River, because they are brewing up some serious craft caffeinated beverages and creating a quintessential coffee shop atmosphere that is both cozy and communal. I'm quick to grab a cup a soak it all in, as this place is jem. The outward appearance from the roadside might have you questioning this spot, but push through and discover one of the most picturesque coffee shops I have ever seen. Hardwood floors give way to plenty of a similar wood along the bar, counter and trim work throughout. Warm lighting and plenty of sunlight windows make the place feel open and inviting. Inside you'll see a mix of tables, high tops and even a few upholstered chairs for seating. The menu here is pretty extensive, with a full mix of both espresso and coffee drinks, offered both hot and cold. The beans are all from Counter Culture, a definite mark of quality. Check the coffee of the day, as it changes and the flavor profiles are subtle but quite different based on the region and the drying method used to produce the final bean. Brewed coffee is also French Pressed here, so you get a full taste of the roast and the bean. It's so good and smooth I like to take mine without cream of sugar! Espresso drinks are equally quality here, using a different bean with a darker roast. Aside from the drinks, there is also a large homemade bakery menu available: scones, muffins and other treats will tempt you at the counter. All made in-house and most fresh as of that morning. There is also a breakfast menu with egg and meat offereings, along with a robust mix of sandwiches for later in the day. The staff is just as friendly and warm as the accommodations here, and will take the time to explain anything on the menu. No hipster aloofness, no coffee snobbery, just a genuine willingness to help and serve from everyone I interacted with. Combine that with the beautiful view out back of the river, usually with plenty of geese or ducks swimming by, and you have a near-ideal place to hang, relax, and enjoy the view. I can make a morning out of a visit here, and that starts a day just right. read more

The Pemberton Coffeehouse is exactly what I think a coffee house should be. Their coffee is excellent, their baked goods are fresh, their food is delicious and the atmosphere is lovely. They bake their bakery items fresh daily upstairs (!) and their cinnamon rolls are everything they are supposed to be. Yeasty, soft, pillowy and not to sweet. Their breakfast strata and bread pudding are also delectable. Every food item I have had has been generously portioned and very delicious. They also have a very nice selection of local micro-brews and local wines. With the comfy chairs and free wi-fi, it makes for a great study spot. But the deck overlooking the river makes it a great breakfast/lunch spot if you want something tasty and inexpensive. Their service can be pretty slow, but it is never without an apology and gracious smile. If you are staying to drink/eat they attentively check on you, which is kind of nice. Delightful. read more

This place is amazing. I wish it were closer to where I live. Staff is friendly and the food is great. The back deck overlooking the river is something out of novel. Its just relaxing. I was in salisbury on buisiness and ended up here on friday and saturday nights for pizza and burger night respectively. Pizza is delicious and they have a bottled craft beer selection that would come out of a top 10 list that I wrote. Fridays also have live music. The friday regular band was perfect for the setting. The burger on friday night had me wishing I had room for another. My partner with me is a vegetarian and spoke highly of the portabello burger. No live music on saturday. We just had dessert and hung out for a while. I had the bread pudding which was fantastic. Only thing that could have made it better was if they were open later (9pm fri-sat) I understand that they are a coffee house and 9 is pretty late for any coffee house, but I would have stayed until 1am eating, drinking , listening to music and enjoying the beautiful view. read more

Very pleasant location with excellent and kind service, but the drinks and food left a lot to be desired. My coffee was just not strong enough and too watery to really enjoy. For breakfast, I ordered a bagel and I am not exaggerating when I write that it was probably the worst bagel I've ever had. It tasted more than a few days old and it didn't even arrive toasted. You know your coffee shop experience was bad when, after you leave, you head right to the nearest Starbucks to lean on at least a safe bet for a morning coffee. But, sadly, that's exactly what I did after leaving the cute, but disappointing Pemberton Coffeehouse. read more

I know I am one of the few that probably doesn't *love* Pemberton Coffee House. I love the ambiance. I love being able to be one of the few lucky ones to sit outside on a nice day. But what I don't like is NO DECAF. NOTHING is decaf there. They don't have decaf espresso (Rise Up and Starbucks do). They don't have Splenda (WHAT?). They just don't seem to really try to cater to all people. I can go to Starbucks (no great ambiance, but they serve something I can drink) or Rise Up (which is solely a drive-through or walk up but delicious brews and concoctions), but it's so disappointing to have a "coffee house" that has nothing sugar-free OR decaf. It's not like decaf espresso or chocolate for mocha (not the squirty liquid stuff but the nice thick "sauce" that both Starbucks and Rise Up has) as it's easily even found in the grocery store. So, unless this is the only place to meet someone, and even though I only live a mile from there, I just can't make myself spend my dollars there. Oh, and their "daily deal" when they offer it is misleading, too. Just not overly impressed. Sorry, Pemberton... it's nice and would love to patronize a local mom-and-pop, but you don't seem to want to cater to people who have special dietary needs. read more

We just discovered this wonderful coffee place on the way back from the beach thanks to fellow yelpers. Thank you yelp! We ordered a couple of iced mochas. They make their own chocolate sauce which makes the mocha taste delicious. We learned that all their pastries are home made every morning. The place is really nice and they have an outdoor patio overlooking a river (or lake, not sure). They also serve craft beers which we didn't have a chance to taste this time but I am keeping the address for next time. We'll be back. read more

When you say Belgian waffle and have a big menu board proclaiming it I am expecting big elaborate waffle. Instead it was small with plastic cups of butter and syrup. Tastes good but not quite what I expected. Coffee very good and reasonably priced. Quiche looked amazing wish I would have had it. Turkey bacon and sausage egh. Everything from trying to find how to get in how to order where to sit waiters walking around yelling out numbers trying to find you is chaotic. Oh yeah if you want to put tip on your plastic you do so when you order at the counter before you ever see your food or experience the service. Food is worth a visit. 5 stars just isn't enough, but it's the most I can leave so it's there. This is my absolute FAVORITE place in Salisbury. The Salmon bagel was fresh and delicious, the iced chai was absolute perfection. The owner and the employees are the most wonderful and accommodating people. If there is ANYTHING wrong, simply tell them and they will fix it no questions or judgments. The coffeehouse is cozy and welcoming, even the employees corner in the dining room was tidy. I spend hours here on the weekend studying, it's like a home away from home! I recommend that everyone who enjoys coffee, tea, delicious food (all details are on the menu so there's no confusion) and a great environment, go in and see for yourself. Tried their vegan cupcakes, which were STELLAR, but it took forever to get waited on while we were standing at the counter. And there was someone there whom seemed more interested in cleaning the fancy coffee machine(no clue what they're technically called) than helping us. I will note, aside from their one option of vegan cupcakes(which are a huge hit and almost always seem to be sold out) they had a gluten free bread pudding, where they apparently prepare the GF bread separately from the gluten bread, which was good for my little sister. Even so, this is a cozy little place, but that person whom seemed more interested in the machine than us, really irritated me. How lucky were we to come across this quaint coffeehouse with stunning views and awesome folks running the place. Maurica, the co-manager, was friendly, attentive, and fun to talk to, and even introduced us to the owner who was equally lovely. We enjoyed the fresh pastry, tasty hot chocolate and daily selection of tea. We aren't coffee drinkers but this seems to be their specialty. The view was stunning - we ate our brunch at the edge of a scenic lake. As out of towers we stumbled across this place which was just the homie, comfortable, beautiful type of place we were looking for, with great staff and good food. Cute place! From the outside it looks like a house turned into a coffee shop. Great coffee. I like that they do latte art. We were seated in the back deck patio because we had our dog. I enjoyed my cappuccino with the nice view of the lake. It was also nice of the waitress to bring over a bowl of water for my dog. They also serve food and fresh pastries.
