My wife was craving ice cream and we came across the reviews for Island Creamery and needed to check it out! We were happy to see that in addition to walking in there was a drive-thru option. The employee was helpful in explaining a couple of the flavors to us and she decided on a scoop of pineapple upside-down cake on a waffle cone. We pulled forward and were greeted by a friendly, smiling face. The ice cream cone looked very good and my wife really enjoyed it!!!

So I made the trip (ended up being 90 mins round trip) and it was TOTALLY worth it! The servers were very friendly and gave me some suggestions and encouraged me to taste a couple flavors. I ended up doing half cake batter and half marsh mud (double dark chocolate). They were rich and creamy and delicious. Almost custard-like but truly just fantastic ice cream.

Knowing the ice cream is made with local dairy and in small batches makes indulging so much easier. It's almost always busy and service has always been great. If there's a wait it's worth it. It's places like this that's actually made me never wanting bigger named ice cream brands again. Quality is great, tastes amazing and for what you're getting it's super affordable. read more

Ok, so I didn't contact the owner but a friend talked me into trying island creamery again (twice actually) and I definitely caught them on a bad night. This time I ordered the chocolate peanut butter milkshake and it was DIVINE! The ice cream was creamy and delicious and the milkshake was just thick enough. This is going to be my new "treat" when I do well or I need a pick up. Apologies to the owner. Definitely give this local ice cream shop a try! read more

Delicious! We are gluten free and the website clearly is marked for products that contain gluten. So yummy! Highly recommend the Bourbon Caramel Crunch!!! (Yes there is a small amount of alcohol used to flavor it) hubby had the cherry vanilla shake and he loved it. One cannot find a better ice cream but,.... for $7.00 plus for double dip in a cup, you should get two good dips. Many times the ice cream doesn't make it over the rim of the cup. Give your customers two true good dips. read more

I don't really like ice cream that much, but I am a sucker for Island Creamery. The employees are soo friendly! When I asked for details on a sundae, they actually knew what it was and explained it to me happily! Haha. Sizes are massive-so, when you're paying for a small, you're paying for a pretty big portion of ice cream, just something to keep in mind. I wish their drive through line was a bit longer, though, as I frequently notice it stops in the middle of the road next to the building. Definitely some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. Sometimes I take out ice cream and store it in my freezer at home. I will, on occasion, eat the ice cream for a delicious,nutritious breakfast meal. Breakfast, supposedly the most important meal of the day. When I found out that the Island Creamery set up a location in Salisbury, it was like Jesus came down from the Heavens and made a miracle happen just for me. I work down at Wallops Island near the original location, and to hear that another place opened near where I live was like music to my ears. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. THE BEST ICE CREAM!!!! The homemade waffle cones will change your life and you will find yourself craving this all the time. Cake batter is my favorite flavor but they have so many creative choices! They have so much more than just ice cream. It's slightly more pricey than some ice cream places but it's definitely worth it for the homemade quality. Excellent ice cream. We had a apple cobbler (seasonal offering) and cherry vanilla double scoop, one double scoop of the vegan chocolate mint, and a small banana split. Fantastic taste, healthy portions, friendly service. But don't let the 'small' name on the banana split fool you. It was large - only had two scoops - but those two scoops were as large as other places' triple scoops. Highly recommended! I don't eat dairy so it is very difficult to find an ice cream place that offers non-dairy or vegan options other than sorbet. I was in town for a conference and saw a line out the door at Island Creamery as I was on my way back to my room. I whipped in and figured I had nothing better to do than to wait to see what everyone was so excited about. The ice cream flavors looked absolutely spectacular; I lusted after them waiting in line, knowing that I would be stuck with a non-creamy icy sorbet. I practically did backflips when the server informed me they had three creamy ice cream options using coconut milk as a base. I enjoyed this dish of coconut and mocha with chocolate chips on top. It was fabulous and overly bountiful. Believe it or not, this dish was advertised as two scoops! The third flavor was chocolate mint Oreo, which I could not try since I don't eat gluten. However, the coconut and mocha flavors were absolutely spectacular and I highly recommend this location. My friend got pineapple upside down cake ice cream and she said that it was equally fabulous. read more

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE EVER TO PURCHASE ICE CREAM AND CAKES FROM. For my birthday, my parents bought an ice cream cake from here for the first time. It was delicious! It was half black berry and I think half cotton candy and it was blue and beautiful. It tasted so goood! It was basically just like ice cream but with frosting and stuff not too sweet. Ever since that, we always buy our birthday cakes from here. One time we always got ice cream from here and I ordered a sherbet, I don't remember what flavor, on a cone and they gave a very good big amount of it and it tasted very good and creamy. Awesome service, was greeted the moment me and my kids came in the entrance. The servers were very courteous in giving us different multiple flavors to try and made sure everyone had a smile on their face upon leaving. Located in Salisbury, Maryland we churn out frozen desserts daily in small batches right in our shop. We use an all-natural premium butterfat mix from Lancaster County cows ensuring a rich, creamy ice cream. Inspiration for flavors come from the local fruit available to us or from tasty inclusions made in our kitchen. Since 1975, our family has served the Island and its neighboring communities as well as countless visitors.

Established in 1975.

We opened on Chincoteague Island in 1975. Family members Drew and Jen opened the Berlin, MD store in 2017. The Salisbury location opened next to SU in 2018.

Meet the Manager: Jen S.

The Creamery is a local family business with parents Kelly and Robin, along with daughter Courtney, working at the Chincoteague Island store. There they craft the delicious ice cream flavors to match the seasons. Son Drew and fiancee Jen can be found at the Berlin and Salisbury locations. Stop in and say hi!
