The only reason why I know what happened is because you can stand by the counter and watch and listen to them work. Allow me to preface this by saying Ms. Charlene is an absolute DELIGHT. My lady and I visited Ocean City as we always do and always enjoy every moment in this majestic city. Personally, I'm a functional alcoholic so the last establishment I would visit would be Talbot St. cafe. Luckily, my lady had a hankering for some hot tea. We not only got hot tea, but a lifetime of memories. Charlene greeted us with her personable, warm greeting. Once we were the only customers in shop she was able to strategically speak to us in words we fully understood (wink). I briefly toyed with the notion of sobering up and frequenting a cafe, that though ended abruptly as soon as I encountered my first case of the shakes. Point being, If I were to ever wed my lady, I would hope the reception could take place in Ms. Charlene's beautiful establishment. (Ok, so this is now actually Jenn. This is my very first ever Yelp review because Charlene and the Talbot St Cafe are truly that amazing and I promised her when we left that I would open a Yelp account specifically to sing her praises. Sadly, three weeks later, I still hadn't gotten around to doing it and scolded by my love for same. And rightfully so. So I told him that he could write the review for me. His review was so sweet, funny and adorable that I couldn't alter it in any way. I just wanted to clarify that the first part were not my words. I don't function well at all as an alcoholic. But back to the review.... (See, this is why I procrastinated. I knew it would turn into a novel) Charlene is just the best!! The hot tea I had was absolutely perfect, and she gets her honey locally from a high school whose students keep bees and sell honey as a school project. I think every single thing about that is completely fantastic and she and her cafe warmed our hearts that cold and rainy day even more than the earl grey warmed my shivering bones. Walking the boardwalk and saw Cafe, I love coffee, so had to check it out. Such a cute place, loved the block walls being painted with chalkboard paint, had types of drinks drawn on with chalk, showing what each consist of. The owner was ever so plesent, I told him I wanted to try something different. So I had a vanilla espresso latte, I got a large so it came with 2 shots of espresso and because I wanted it a little sweeter, he added more vanilla, it was delicious. I went to pay using my card and he was having a hard time getting the card to scan, so he said it's on me, I don't want to hold you up. I said that's nice of you, but I'm not in a hurry and you're in business to make money, so he scanned it again and it registered, no problem. He told me he's been working 26 years for other people doing what he loves and now has his very own Business. So by all means, go check out this place, the muffins and all the danish looked awesome, and the menu sounded delicious too. I surely think everyone should give this place a shot! Fantastic little coffee shop right near the inlet. It's right next to a Fisher's store. I saw the sign for coffee and recommended it as a place to get out of the rain. Ended up getting food and a chocolate Mocha. Everything was fantastic and the owner makes excellent company! read more
