Nice coffee shop that is located by the beach. It has ample parking being located in a shopping center. Service was good and they have many flavors to add to your drink. They also had some fresh cut fruit at the cooler. There are breakfast sandwiches to order from the menu but no photos. My ham egg and cheese bagel sandwich was good! I picked an asiago bagel. The other day I ordered a blueberry scone and a banana muffin. Took a bite of each and promptly spat them out. Both tasted old. As if they were frozen for years, thawed, and left to get stale in the display box. The scone tasted like blueberry mothballs. This place never staffs enough people during the on season so having to wait ten minutes to order, then another 10 to receive two pastries from the case, and the food to taste like crap was insult to injury. Also, if you're going to have a variety of types for your muffins, oatmeal and scones please list the general flavors you may have on the drive thru sign, because the staff working the drive thru gets annoyed when you dare ask them about their daily selection. I've loved the coffee beanery for years now. With your options at the beach basically being this or Starbucks, I will choose this small town coffee shop every time. I've tried other coffee shops in the area and this wins every time. The drinks are just made right and they are smooth. Never any bitterness or acidity to the beans. They have a spacious area to sit in the rather small shop. I enjoyed my iced coffee. Was super disappointed and suprised because Coffee Beanery came highly recommended for the best coffee in OC. The coffee was really not good- bitter and very watered down. I tried the blueberry latte seasonal special and I couldn't even finish- super artificial tasting and was 90% ice. The pastries looked amazing in the case but also fell flat. My banana chocolate chip muffin tasted days old, dry and flavorless. My partner ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel which was also flavorless and the bagel was giving Dunkin Donuts/grocery store (which is fine but not for $8). The restaurant itself was busy with a long line that moved quickly, but it looked quite dirty/neglected inside. There is also a drive thru and quite a few seats both inside/outside. read more

This place used to be descent but seems to have gone downhill. The flavor of the Caramel Frappes not as strong or flavorful like they used to be - also very pricey. I got a Large Caramel frappe for almost $9. It tastes like milk and sugar and ice. I can't taste any coffee flavor. They don't post the prices on the drive thru which is interesting. I am a coffee lover so probably will not be coming back here because the drinks don't taste like there's any coffee at all and to add a shot of espresso, it's a little under $3. But as i expected, it wasn't what i was used to and ordered something else. She then turns on a microphone and announces that i wasted her time and a small cup. Very odd. I was billed for an item and then wanted it removed and because the staff was not trained properly they were unable to remove the item even prior to making pr preparing the food item. Another successful trip! I love supporting local businesses especially when the staff/ owners are so friendly and accommodating! Which makes sense there is always a crowd. Love the chiller counter display filled with baklava and other dessert goods. Also had more shirts and lots of different coffees to purchase for when you are home but craving their coffee. We usually stop by at least once or twice when we visit OC but this time, we came by in October. PUMPKIN FLAVORS!!! I had to try the pumpkin latte but with coconut milk. It may seem crazy but simplicity is key. Not an overwhelming flavor and just hit the right notes of fall. Husband also got the same but with regular milk. Again, well balanced! Now, the muffins!! We got banana chip and a pumpkin muffin. Wow wow wow. The banana wasn't blasting with bananas but those chocolate chips added, chefs kiss! Complimentary to each other and not overpowering.
