The business only allows service animals inside came by while walking my dog expecting that due to their rule, I would be able to walk through the drive-through. They refused to even talk to me through the drive-through, which was very disappointing as I sat there for 10 minutes, wondering if we were going to be helped while cars came before and after me and were both helped. read more

I've loved the coffee beanery for years now. With your options at the beach basically being this or Starbucks, I will choose this small town coffee shop every time. Was super disappointed and suprised because Coffee Beanery came highly recommended for the best coffee in OC. The coffee was really not good- bitter and very watered down. I tried the blueberry latte seasonal special and I couldn't even finish- super artificial tasting and was 90% ice. The pastries looked amazing in the case but also fell flat. My banana chocolate chip muffin tasted days old, dry and flavorless. My partner ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel which was also flavorless and the bagel was giving Dunkin Donuts/grocery store (which is fine but not for $8). The restaurant itself was busy with a long line that moved quickly, but it looked quite dirty/neglected inside. There is also a drive thru and quite a few seats both inside/outside. read more

This place used to be descent but seems to have gone downhill. The flavor of the Caramel Frappes not as strong or flavorful like they used to be - also very pricey. I got a Large Caramel frappe for almost $9. It tastes like milk and sugar and ice. I can't taste any coffee flavor. They don't post the prices on the drive thru which is interesting. I am a coffee lover so probably will not be coming back here because the drinks don't taste like there's any coffee at all and to add a shot of espresso, it's a little under $3. had a bit of a strange experience here. Asked if they had a dark roast coffee. They did and described it for me. To be honest, from the description, it didn't seem like something i would like so i asked for a regular coffee cream and 1 sugar. The woman then offered me a sample of the dark roast. Very nice. But as i expected, it wasn't what i was used to and ordered something else. She then turns on a microphone and announces that i wasted her time and a small cup. Very odd. Guessing it was supposed to be playful, only some people can't pull that off. I got a quick look from an employee that seemed to suggest she was sorry about that. I had an issue with a transaction. I emailed their corporate email and they forwarded it on to the franchise owner with no response back. The staff needs training on their payment system. I was billed for an item and then wanted it removed and because the staff was not trained properly they were unable to remove the item even prior to making pr preparing the food item. Another successful trip! I love supporting local businesses especially when the staff/ owners are so friendly and accommodating! Which makes sense there is always a crowd. Love the chiller counter display filled with baklava and other dessert goods. Also had more shirts and lots of different coffees to purchase for when you are home but craving their coffee. We usually stop by at least once or twice when we visit OC but this time, we came by in October. PUMPKIN FLAVORS!!! I had to try the pumpkin latte but with coconut milk. It may seem crazy but simplicity is key. Not an overwhelming flavor and just hit the right notes of fall. Husband also got the same but with regular milk. Again, well balanced! Now, the muffins!! We got banana chip and a pumpkin muffin. Wow wow wow. The banana wasn't blasting with bananas but those chocolate chips added, chefs kiss! Complimentary to each other and not overpowering. Wife and I stopped since it was close by. We are not coffee drinkers so don't know how to order or what to order. The woman at the register was very helpful in listening to what my wife was looking for as far as taste and "kick" and got her the right drink. Well done I got a peach smoothie. Only drawback was that the straws were so thin and pinched so easily it was almost impossible to drink my smoothie. The smoothie I was able to get thru the straw was good, but as stated, wasn't much before I got frustrated with it. We were driving so taking the lid off and drinking it wasn't much of an option. Such a cute coffee place walking distance right on the strip off where we stayed for the week. It's open early, has tables outside and it's nice and clean inside. When we went only one person was working and it got pretty busy. The worker kept it cool, kept smiling and also continued with a great attitude despite how long the line was getting. They served coffees, teas, breakfast sandwiches and a few baked items. Also some cookies and gf cookies( packaged) . Better than buying Starbucks on the hotel! read more

This is significant Because: I drink different coffee every day of the week, and went to her shop everyday for a week! They also have breakfast sandwiches (yummy!). In addition, Because of the art from the OC Art League hanging on the walls, I walked (directly behind the coffee shop) to the Art League of OC and became a member, ultimately purchasing a piece that was hanging in Mrs. Rana's coffee shop. We wanted coffee on the way out of OC, and the beanery has a drive through which allowed us to grab caffeine with our dogs in the car with us. For those of us who remember the 80s and 90s, this shop is a throwback to those days of flavored coffee beans. I ordered online and unfortunately it wasn't as quick a pick up as I was hoping as they were out of the lavender syrup I requested but they informed me and made my drink promptly when I arrived. Due to ordering online there was also some miscommunication on the type of milk my friend wanted in her chai latte. My drink (iced mocha)was great albeit a bit expensive for the size. The kids and I decided to try something different Sunday morning - The Coffee Beanery. What drew us in was their road sign harking gluten free and vegan offerings as one of us has dietary issues. So, we gave CB a try. My daughter ordered coffee; forgive me if I don't know specifics. My son ordered and bacon egg and cheese Sammie on a Asiago cheese bagel and a smoothie. Yours truly ordered the same sammie as my son and I also had a "large" (they call it something fancy) cafe latte. Being first timers, the staff was very patient with us while we ordered. They had everything prepared for us quickly. And, everything was very good. The first draw from my latte had me wanting sugar. I decided to enjoy it as is. The bagel sammies were delicious. There are pastries available as well. The ambiance of the shop was nice and well worn. I thought the shop was local but it's a franchise. That said, I think the franchisee is a OC local. We enjoyed our treats amid a steady flow of Sunday customers. I'm a convenience store coffee kind of guy and do not care for Star*ucks, but could occasionally shell out nearly six bucks for a very good cafe latte.
