That said, Jeff and his team did a very good job…read more We needed paint touch ups throughout the house i.e.: baseboards, cabinets, a few walls that show natural wear/scuff marks and some light texture work. Jeff came out same day to provide an estimate which I really appreciated. After some negotiation we landed on a fair price. Most of their work was very good. We had an area in the bathroom that needed to be retextured then painted. This was most challenging of the work and it was completed to perfection. There were also a few patches in the garage (same idea) that were done very well by the same painter (the most talented of the crew). In the kitchen were a few baseboards (made of MDF) that needed to be filled and on his 2nd visit Jeff went out of his way to pickup some caulk and touch up. I do VERY much appreciate the effort to fix... that said, from a process standpoint I wish the fill had been addressed on the first visit noting you'd ideally have the caulk dry for some time before painting over it. Again, its not perfect but it does look better than before. Our kitchen island needed a few touch ups on the bottom as well. While the chips have been painted over it does look like more sanding was required for a smoother finish. Ok result not great. Lastly, a wall in our guest room had a mirror hanging on it. My assumption was the painters would remove the mirror to paint the area. Unfortunately, they just painted around it. As a result, we have uneven paint. Jeff repainted some spots they had missed but there is still a noticeable line when the mirror is removed from the wall. It likely won't be an issue when hanging but from a perfectionists standpoint, I don't like knowing the discoloration/ visible line exists under the mirror. Overall, fair pricing, pleasant crew and good work. Would very much recommend but would also encourage clear communication on requested work and desired expectations. Thanks again to Jeff!!

Based upon information…read moregathered via informal conversations with friends and colleagues, we were expecting that a thorough, professional exterior paint job for our 2600 square feet home (plus 2 car garage) would likely yield a hefty price tag. So, we developed an informal prospectus based on this assumption. Sometime later, we happened upon a poster advertising That 1 Painter, a licensed and bonded enterprise based in the Treasure Valley. Their reviews were strongly favorable and more so noteworthy was that T1P had been voted Best of Idaho twice (among many other plaudits)! So, when we were ready we contacted them with the intention that they would provide us with our first estimate. We were visited by Ruth Brinton, a professional house painter and owner of T1P. She presented well with confidence and comprehension. She looked at many things that we would have likely overlooked. She made many observations and shared her thoughts with us. She also looked at the property and made recommendations regarding colors to not only enhance the house, but also to optimize the use of colors that would give balance and compliment to the property on the whole. The next day, we received the detailed estimate for the job. We were stunned to learn that T1P would do the job for well below our most auspicious estimates! All the information we had gathered convinced us that we did not have need to solicit another estimate. Within a month's time (from initial contact) our house was very nicely and professionally cleaned, prepped and painted. The crew performing the work were polite, friendly and professional. Clearly, the team at T1P are committed to customer service and satisfaction. We offer a solid 5-star review and our full endorsement.

I recently had 21st Century repaint the exterior of my house. You can find that review here as…read morewell. I'm writing a new one because this is a different project. After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.

Peeling paint, exposed wood, alligatoring, rotten wood...and then it was determined that lead abatement was needed. Archie, the owner, guided us through this process without any charges for his advice and ensuring the lead abatement company did the work properly. Thus, protecting the painting crew and ensured that we received the quality work for which we were paying. Then the DGP crew came to wash, prepare, and paint this historic home. It is beautiful! Neighbors' compliments and our happiness with the quality of the work made it all worthwhile. The home looks new and the historic windows properly cared for in the process. During the painting process as well as after, Archie and the crew of Miguel and Juan, provided advice in caring for the exterior over the next few years ourselves so that the look will last for many years. We are going to follow their advice and have them come in for touch-ups and a quality handwash in a few years to NEVER have these problems again. Posted in gratitude for DGP, We Paint Austin.

I hired them to knock the popcorn off the ceilings in a new condo. They did that at a reasonable price, and pretty much threw in removal of some cabinets that seriously needed to go - and repainted/retextured the ceiling for free. Cliff runs the operation; he's a totally accessible and friendly guy - he's just a little (and he admits it) flaky from time to time. He gives you an estimate of when he'll start and finish and just kind of calls to say... okay... now! So you have to be ready to meet him whenever he calls. The crew also left without cleaning up the first time, but Cliff was happy to bring them back to finish the job (which, quite frankly, shocked me since I had already paid). Now, the place is a-sparklin', and looks great (and popcorn free!). So... if you want a reasonably priced option for a local business that does a good job, give him a call. Just be prepared to deal with mild scheduling hiccups and the potential that you might have to ask them to come back again to clean up for real.

They sell everything from fill soil to compost to rocks. My first problem is that my truck is just a 90's mini truck. They don't sell soil by the half yard. I tried putting a yard of their Superior Soil in my truck and about a half yard in, the truck couldn't take any more. The guy was cool enough to stop filling the truck and he charged for about a half yard. Would be nice if I could just get a half yard. My second problem is that their products aren't exactly the greatest. The Superior Soil was acceptable I suppose. I'm used to getting Revitalizer from Natural Gardener, and Gardenville's Superior comes up short in comparison. They did have a decent deal recently on shredded mulch and the mulch was fine. The location has been paring down their offerings. They had a crazy sale to liquidate all of their pots. Now they're selling all of their tools. Not sure if they're focusing on the bulk business or what.

I didn't, having never done so for any other Living Social deal, but this location of Garden-Ville doesn't "have the scanners and equipment to redeem" from a smart phone. To which I said, "Well, I wish you'd have mentioned that when I called half an hour ago." You shouldn't even need such equipment - the employee just didn't know what to do. So I drove home empty-handed, having wasted an hour (and 30 miles). I'd just hoped for a nice drive and to check out a different garden shop. But this place isn't a garden shop, it's only really set up for dealing with contractors and wholesale operations, not individuals. Again, I wish their web page or the LivingSocial deal had made that clear. So, 1-star experience. However, the price list looks promising. And the just-learned fact that Garden-Ville is the composting and recycling component of Texas Disposal Systems is redeeming.
