Jeff and his team did an incredible job with our house. We only had about a week timeframe before we were moving in and they came in and painted a 3br/2ba 1300 sq ft home in 4 days and it looked brand new. We asked them to paint some accent walls and they did a brilliant job with the design. We highly recommend them and look forward to using them again in the future.

From my experience Color World in Austin just acts as a marketer. They have a nice website that…read morewould lead you to believe they are a professional painting contractor. Once hired, they farmed off the work to an unqualified "independent contractor" in an uncoordinated fashion and did not oversee the contractor's work. I don't hold anything against the painter, Daniel, he's just trying to put food on the table for his family. However, he did not have the correct equipment, did not seem to have the skill set for the work, did not understand the scope of work, and did not understand what Color World's obligations were under the contract. We contacted Color World for a small exterior paint job based upon their website and reviews. We had cracks in the exterior stucco and needed these sealed and painted over. However, it was very high up and difficult to place a ladder. My yard crew offered to do it for $50, if I allowed them to use my 36 foot ladder. However, I was worried about the safety of working at that height and was willing to pay to have the work done safely and professionally with appropriate equipment. A company rep came out to look at the job. His name was Joseph. He was a nice gregarious guy. I guess it's possible he had a fundamental understanding of painting, but if so, he did not bother to share any of it. He seemed more a sales type, took some pictures, and provided a quote of $2,000. When asked why the bid was so high, Joseph claimed that was the company minimum and they would not take a job for less. To make it more cost effective we added painting for a large garage door and frame. The total was then $2,800. The Color World contract states they will provide all equipment and materials, do appropriate surface prep, and clean up after each day's work. For me, the only surface prep done was spraying the garage door with a pressure washer. No wire brush was used and no sanding was done. All of the paint chips removed by the washer were left on the drive overnight, after which they dried and blew all over the yard. Daniel's ladder could not have been more than 32 feet - well short of what was needed. He balanced it on the edge of a retaining wall, had his daughter try to hold it from the bottom and then stood at the very top. Incredibly unsafe. He then tried to paint it from the roof. I had specifically requested no use of the roof as I had recently been coated. The painter probably spent at most 10 hours at the house over 2 and a half days for a $2,800 job. Less than two hours on the part of the job originally bid for $2,000. Then he said he was finished. The casing around the garage door had clearly only received one coat of paint, which did not adequate cover, and the stucco paint still had visible unsealed gaps. Joseph came over to inspect the work and said it looked good to him. I showed him what I thought was unacceptable and described Daniel not having the equipment needed to do the job correctly and safely. I told him at a minimum there needed to be another coat on the door casing and that someone needed to come with the correct equipment to do the stucco job correctly and safely. Daniel came back over the weekend with his daughter and asked to use my ladder. I reluctantly provided it in an effort to get the job done, but he did exactly the same thing with the same ladder my yard crew had offered to do for $50. It seems to me like Color World is just fronting bids for what they think they can get, then leveraging unskilled immigrant crafts people to do the work as independent contractors. With this structure Color World would not have to buy any equipment, hire any employees, pay any benefits, or be responsible for safe work practices. It also allows them to blame any customer dissatisfaction on the subcontractor. If I was not concerned they would just screw the contractor; I would not have paid for this work.

Joe came out to quote very quickly. I knew it was going to be a lot of work removing the metal, then putting in dryway, texture, paint. I found their quote to be a fair price and the company as a whole was very professional and does great work. I would highly recommend them!

All details were paid close attention to and if there were any concerns or questions they took care of it, no questions asked. Everything that was listed on the quote was completed and checked off. They worked great around any changes in the weather and completed the work in a timely manner. I greatly appreciate George (owner) & his dad (carpenter work), & Servio, & Elder (paint crew) for the fine job they did. Their expertise and professionalism go a long way. From the very first day, their professionalism and care stood out. George's father and younger brother handled the trim repairs with skill, while the crew power-washed and carefully taped off every surface: brick, shingles, fence, and more. Their attention to detail was incredible, and it gave us total peace of mind. They even removed the shutters to paint them. The work was all completed very professionally, and they took no shortcuts. What impressed us most was their consistency: always on time, quiet, efficient, and respectful of our property. George personally checked the work every day, which really showed how much pride he takes in his business. Even after we asked for a few extra repairs while the work was in progress, the price stayed exactly as quoted, and it was already the best bid we received. When the job was done, George didn't just pack up and leave. He walked the entire site with us to make sure we were 100% satisfied. That level of customer service is rare these days. Our home looks fantastic, and we couldn't be more grateful. If you're looking for a local, family-owned company that delivers top-quality work at a fair price, George and his team at Fine Brush Painting are the real deal. While this was all exterior work, we will call them again for when it's time to have interior work done, too. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants honest, skilled, and dependable contractors. I will post this accurate and glowing review to Google, too.

21st Century Austin Painting Siding & Roofing

I recently had 21st Century repaint the exterior of my house. You can find that review here as…read morewell. I'm writing a new one because this is a different project. After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.
