They have lunch specials and dinner specials everyday and I am tempted to try their dinner specials one of these days but it's a hit or miss on the flavors depending on what you order. They violated health code when we were here. The steak came out rare, and when we brought it up and we asked for one at medium, it was reheated and reserved with same cuts in it. We work in the restaurant industry and was a disappointment for the service we would have given our own customers. Also not to mention other dishes were taken back and added items. I met a friend for dinner who loves this place. And I can understand why. You walk in and it feels like a neighborhood place where the people eating there know the servers and the daily specials every week. The server was friendly and warm and the atmosphere of the place was also warm and inviting. That said, I had mixed feelings about the actual quality of the food. We both started with the pork green chile stew and it was quite tasty with just a hint of heat. It started off well. We both decided to order the daily special of pot roast. Here's where I feel the food was somewhat marginal. The brown gravy was very salty. My friend had asked for it on the side but it was delivered on the plate and he ate it like that versus sending it back. It was a simple presentation of the meat, mashed potatoes and carrots. I have never seen pot roast served this way where instead of slices of meat, it was chopped. It was edible and just okay but I probably would not order that again. Today was my 3rd visit to this establishment. Every single time I have come, I've gotten their DELICIOUS Calihan Salad. This review has been updated solely on the customer service that I experienced on this visit. Unlike my second visit, when I sat at the bar to make my to go order, I was offered water. On this visit, I wasn't offered anything. Same bartender, though. When I put in my order, I respectfully asked that she let me see my Salad before bagging it up (I want to make sure it looks like it supposed to). I paid the bartender with a $100.00 bill, and she gave me the wrong change back. Don't know if she thought I was dumb or that I wouldn't count my change. However, she corrected it, but with no apology. Now, she has me wondering if this was done on purpose? After spending $20 on a salad, I asked if I could have just a couple of green olives, and she told me that she would have to charge me. Smh I've been in Accounting for over 20 years, and never do I purposely play with other people's money. I have been a bartender for over 30 years, and never have I played with anyone else's money. Customer service means EVERYTHING! I did speak with the Manager before leaving, and he was pleasant enough. There's nothing bad to say about him. However, you should keep your eye on those who mismanage money and not offer an apology. I doubt that I will drive 40 minutes away just for this delicious salad and have mediocre customer service. Maybe she was having an off day today, I don't know, but it didn't sit well with me! read more

I have driven by this place dozens of times and finally stopped in for a meal. I met my sister. We started with a green chili soup and I got a Cobb salad. It was all fantastic. I liked it so much that my husband & I returned two days later for dinner. We both had a filet, which was delicious! The potatoes that came with it, wee unbelievably good! The Sangria was great and quite refreshing and my husband had an Old Fashioned and it was also a very well mixed drink. We'll definitely be back! read more

Absolutely delicious. I would have taken pictures however my had sauce on them from the appetizer. After I clean them when the entree came I forgot and I started eating, the foot was so good. This cozy local hangout is in our neighborhood so we've been coming here for low key family/date-night/friend dinners since 2002. The food is consistently well-prepared and excellent-tasting. I think the menu is updated as often as it needs to be and there's a great mix of comfort food and more nutritionally conscious choices. The decor was updated during the pandemic and is now more "fashion-forward," I kind of miss the old Keegan's with all the pictures hanging on the walls but the vibe is still comfy. The crowd is definitely on the mature side and not all glammed up so if you're one of those people who judges restaurants based on who else is in it, go on with your bad self. Service is my favorite kind--pleasant and mostly efficient but not hanging around wanting to chat and be your new best friend. We drive by this everyday & finally went here for the first time for lunch. My Boo got the potato skins & a burger, I also got the burger mixed w/ brisket- - Wow- delicious!! Can you imagine a scenario where a manager comes to your table, stands, unmasked, 3 feet away from your face and says, "I'm running a business here. Finish your drink. Pay your bill, and you are not welcome back in here." ? You would think that he was talking to some rowdy, loud, rude, drunk people, yes?...not a couple of senior-aged, professional women quietly tucked into a corner table. Here's the story. We were the first two to show up of our usual group of ladies who live nearby and rotate weekly through the restaurants on that corner for happy hour Thursday evenings. Regulars. During the pandemic we would sit outside on the patio on the Keegan week, enjoy great service. Yesterday, it was hot, the patio was closed, and the two of us decided to sit inside in a corner, figuring we would make the visit short if it started to get too crowded. Our server took our drink order, and brought it back fairly quickly. We thanked her, smiled..(who would know, behind our masks). And then my friend asked her, "so I'm curious why none of the servers here are wearing a mask?" The sever stepped back, said, "excuse me?" (somewhat defensively), and then my friend continued, "I'm sure you're aware that we are in the middle of a surge with the Delta variant and I am concerned that you are not protecting yourself. It's spreading so fast...". And then she was interrupted, told "you can't speak to me that way. if you have a complaint, I will get the manager." My friend told her no we don't need to speak to your manager, just let him know that we are leaving because staff are not wearing masks. You see... we are in that very vulnerable age and health status bracket that are much more likely to experience serious consequences of the 'rona. We take on our own responsibility for where we choose to go and we continue to either stay outside or wear masks inside... And the website for Keegan's actually says masks are required! Otherwise we wouldn't have gone there. But, my friend was only leaning in and expressing her concern, not being rude at all. Maybe she was not heard behind her mask? But that doesn't matter. No reason to be treated that way. We paid our bill, sipped our drinks a bit more quickly than usual, and a minute later, the manager walks right up close to our faces and says "I understand you have a problem". I asked him to please step back, gesturing, saying, 6 feet, please, you know? He did NOT budge, stayed aggressively in our faces. My friend continued with her same concern, was rudely interrupted, told to pay our bill (which we already had) and leave, don't come back. No, he did not step back, no he did not hear us when we said we already paid our bill, he simply kept loudly repeating I'm running a business. Pay your bill, finish your drinks and leave. And you are not ever welcome back in here again. Really? I'm not feeling quite the loss, because I enjoy the other restaurants more, much better food and wine selections at our other 32nd and Camelback corner options. But my friend has been going to this place for years, long before our happy hour habit. And she had known that manager, had friendly conversations, and was known by a number of the staff. A regular. You know, the kind of older retired woman who goes out and has a single drink once a week or so... so one day she walks in with a mask on and is treated like this? We got served quickly and the food came out fast, but I'd really have to say that everything was just average. Not bad, but I'd also probably never come back unless someone else suggested it. We haven't been to this place in years and finally decided to stop in today for lunch. The prices are good, the food was okay, nothing to rave about today. However what made our visit a totally negative experience was the server. Our order was taken and served in a timely manner, with ice teas refreshed once. But after she served our food, she never came back to inquire if our food was okay and prepared correctly. My burger was a little dry and slightly over cooked, it was supposed to be medium. My husbands salmon nicoise salad was good, but he's had better salmon at a place we regularly go to. I got up to use the ladies room and apparently she finally came by with our check and a to go container for the rest of my burger and fries. This place has been here for years at this Phoenix location. Apparently there is still a steady flow of customers that come in as it is a pleasant place with a nice seating and bar area. But I just don't understand such complete indifference service by a restaurant employee, especially in such a prime location. There are certainly other dining options elsewhere. Before we came in to dine today, I was seriously planning on a breakfast visit in the near future. Now it will probably be awhile before we dine at Keegan's again. read more
