One of the best Turkish food I ever had. We had fresh bread and salad really delicious, the hummus was amazing especially with the bread, we had the platter for three which was big enough for 4, way bigger portion than mangal, the platter was huge so much meat and filled with slices this is far from bland, so much flavour. The service was excellent, unlike mangal it was my wife's birthday and they gave a free dessert a milk cake absolutely phenomenal. The kibbeh was spectacular the platter had so much different type of kabob this place is ten times better than mangal, I loved the rice it had a amazing aromatic, this place will do really well, their meat is filled with flavour l, meat was tender and juicy, the rice was so flavourful or I think it was bulgur or barley which is healthier than rice. Then there was white rice and it was so flavourful one of the best rice I ever tasted in my life. I will really remember this place they treat you like family, even gave the dessert for free because it was my wife's birthday. I like the hummus and baba ganoush one of the best hummus I ever tasted, this place cooks the bread fresh you can see them cooking in the kitchen with the fire oven, the ambiance is very nice as well, very clean amazing decor.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 We still really love this place. We were here a couple of weeks ago with a friend to celebrate his birthday. For appetizers we got the Feta cheese rolls & hummus (came with bread). For the main dish I had the tomato kebab, hubby got the butcher's meatballs platter & our friend had the Beef Pizza. Everything was delicious & the portion sizes are generous for the price of the dish. We ordered dessert & they put the birthday song on & sang happy birthday as they brought a beautiful dessert platter with a candle on it for the birthday boy. Service is great here as well. We come here so often that they know who we are now. They especially recognize hubby because of his red hair. LOL. We were here on a Saturday for our friend's birthday but hubby was here the Thursday of the same week for a business lunch. LOL. The waitstaff have always been nice to us, smiling & all that. When we made a mess of the table they wiped our table clean before our dessert was served. Not every restaurant does that. Ambiance: It's a clean place. The decor hasn't changed since they opened so everything still looks new-ish. They fixed the issue with the speakers in the bathroom. Before, if you went to the bathroom the music was blasting loud like a dance club. LOL. Now there's no music in the bathroom & it's so nice. The music is only in the main restaurant now. As long as the food, service & ambiance stays the same we will keep coming back here. We have brought lots of friends & family here. So far everyone loves it.

Had a great dinner at Kebab 49. Everything we ordered is just amazing and tasted authentic. We love hummus so we got this as a starter its smooth consistency is perfect match to their freshly baked bread, they give you chili tomato dip and cucumber yogurt on the house with fresh salad, we really enjoyed all their dips that they served. We had the Mixed Doner (shaved meat of chicken, veal and lamb), spicy Adana (veal and lamb) skewers, Mixed Pide and Chicken Sandwhich. All the meat here has one thing in common its so moist and flavourful. Not to mention the generous amount of each serving, we didn't know that and our table end up with so much food. We were greeted nicely as we walked in and throughout our dining the servers are so friendly and nice. Around 6pm when we got there and there's already few tables that's available, it started to get busy while we were there as most of the people who observe Ramadan started to fill up the place. The place is clean, music was on the background that makes your experience feel more you're really dining abroad. Though this is our first time here, we picked this location as it is convenient. Plenty of parking around the plaza. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

Amazing food with delicious flavours and presentation. We came as a family of four and shared the mixed kebab for 3 and the mixed appetizer plate and there was so much food. I loved all the sides, that the star of the show is really the grilled meats. Even the simple chicken skewer was elevated to a new level of deliciousness. I would definitely recommend coming with a group of people so you can try more options.

Wow, this place is stellar! Quality food, amazing flavours, generous portions and a variety of desserts which many are freshly made each day. Right by the corner of Bathurst and Steeles. I don't usually like bread and I love the fresh pita/bread that came out. It tastes like it's made in house. We ordered the mixed grill for two and it's a huge tray that can at least feed 3. A sign of a great skill when they perfectly cook the chicken breast without it being dry. There's also serve a variety of meats and two types of flavoured rice in the mixed grill. I would also recommend the Iskender kebab which is a layer of veal and lamb doner coated with a delicious sauce and yoghurt to dip on the side. We also had the eggplant dip and in hindsight, I think we would've been fine to just order one or two dishes to share among 4 since we weren't too hungry. They also have their inhouse bread layered at the bottom to soak up the delicious flavours. We tried two desserts to finish it off, the caramelized milk pudding and baklava... perfection. It really rounded the whole experience. It's a nice restaurant that's quite presentable and staff was helpful at guiding us through the menu. We ordered too much for a group of 4 as usual and had leftovers to take home. Although the signage may seem casual, the atmosphere here is a notch above the typical budget kebab joints. It's somewhere definitely you can bring friends or clients over. It's also cool that they have a breakfast buffet option. Check it out.

Dinner at Kebab 49 in Bathurst and Steeles for Family Day was a real hit, especially since our expectations were sky-high after a fantastic visit to their Etobicoke location. Choosing the Steeles spot for convenience, we weren't disappointed. My iskender kebabs was a revelation, making me question every kebab or doner I've had before. The service was impeccable, somehow managing to outshine our previous experience in Etobicoke. Our servers made the evening feel like a celebration, ensuring a delightful dining atmosphere for everyone. The complex spice blend and smoky aroma were intoxicating, like experiencing a taste awakening akin to regaining full sensory perception after quitting cigarettes--a harmony of flavors at their peak. Portion sizes left no room for complaint, but I had bite on baklava right after; you truly get your money's worth without a hint of regret. After this experience, if life in Turkey is anything like this, I'm all for immigrating again to chase this bliss!

My family kicked off an early Family Day celebration at Kebab 49's new Vaughan location, and it was a fantastic choice. Having loved their Etobicoke restaurant, I was confident recommending this spot, and they exceeded my expectations. The authentic Turkish flavours were superb, but it was the outstanding service that made the entire experience memorable. Here are my standout dishes: Iskender Kebab was a symphony of flavours. Tender veal and lamb doner were generously bathed in rich tomato sauce and melted butter, complemented by the bed of bread that absorbed all the juices. Paired with the accompanying yogurt, that first bite created a delicious taste explosion. Chicken Shish with Bulgur: Chicken skewers were grilled to perfection. They were so flavourful with smoky char on the outside, bursting with succulent juices on the inside. They soaked into the pillowy bread served alongside them, while the mild bulgur provided a beautiful contrast in texture. Mix Appetizer Plate: Our waiter enthusiastically recommended this, and he was spot on. This sampler of six cold Turkish appetizers kept our taste buds engaged with every bite. Our favourites were the chilli tomato dip, which was vibrant and spicy, and atom, which was bold, rich, and very spicy. Though pricy, it offered an authentic and unforgettable start to the meal. Baklava: The complimentary Turkish tea after our meal demanded a sweet companion. Their baklava came in threes and it did not disappoint. Flaky pastry layered with generous pistachio was drenched in sweet syrup without sacrificing its crispiness. I could tell that this was the vanilla baklava, with no traces of spices or tanginess to make it more interesting, which I liked better because it paired well with their unsweetened tea. Other than the food, every server at Kebab 49 deserved a praise. Not only were they attentive, but they truly engaged with us - chatting, taking photos, ensuring we were enjoying our meal. This genuine warmth and focus on providing an exceptional experience was so refreshing. If I had to nitpick, the double-door entrance wasn't doing a good job keeping the cold drafts from reaching even our table, which was deep inside the restaurant. While spacing between tables was good, the bustling staff activity made maneuvering within the restaurant a bit tight at times. Also, diners with food sensitivities might notice that inside the open kitchen, they could see no chefs were wearing masks and they were chatting while cooking. On a positive note, their washrooms were impeccably maintained. To summarize, Kebab 49's outstanding food and stellar service made for a truly special evening. This place earns my highest recommendation, and I would love to come back again.

The unit is very cozy. I talked to the guy on his laptop (presumably the owner) and asked him to hit me with a large plate of chicken shawarma and he hooked me up with the BIGGEST portion. Your boi ate GOOD. There was a ton of chicken and the meat was juicy. I also told him to add all the housemade sauces to my order. My plate came w/ 3 sides. I opted for pasta salad, some kind of herb salad and potatoes. The sides were bright, punchy and acidic which helped to cut back on the richness of the meat. I see some reviewers saying the sides were too salty or sour, but I happened to think there was a perfect balance on my taste buds (I'm on of those guys who loves pickles w/ his shawarma). If the potatoes were warm/hot I do think it would elevate their taste even more as they were kinda cold but that's a pretty much a nitpick (and I'm guessing the potatoes are supposed to be served cold?). My food was ready super fast and the portions are massive! For $15 I definitely felt like I got excellent quality and value. I'll definitely be back in the future when I'm in the area! P.S. The parking lot is wonky. You'll have to circle around the building to get to it as the closest entrance is actually a one-way exit.

The nut topping on the fish added a really nice crunch, contrasting beautifully with the soft, tender flesh of the fish. And then there was the duck: the clear standout of the night. We ordered the chicken shawarma and the legendary bowl with mixed protein. I dressed my wrap with spicy garlic and it just had a tiny bit of heat and it was perfect. I really enjoyed the fresh saj bread that it's wrapped in. It really sets it apart from all the shawarma places around town. The legendary bowl is also really good with a generous amount of protein and my SO love the roasted cauliflower on top though he says the fries in the bowl is not as good as another shawarma he enjoys downtown and would order the crispy wrap for next time. The space is really on theme and matches the catchphrases from their reels and even the receipt gives you a waiver warning about using ketchup on their shawarma. I love how they have the tablets so you can order and check the offerings to disperse the line and wait. It's not as fast as the usual fast food, shawarma spots but the quality is certainly up there. It doesn't look busy but they have a steady flow of online deliveries/pickups. The only feedback is the receipts seem really long because they include the waiver to not use ketchup in each receipt. Since they ask for your number to order on the tablet, probably just include it the first time. We forgot to order a drink and ordered it separately and it is unnecessary to print another long receipt again for one drink. Lastly a curious question I have is why the name Shelby's? Given the Middle-Eastern food, I wonder why an English-origin name.

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere.
