We arrived pretty late, so we didn't have enough time to explore the menu the way we wanted, but what we did order left a lasting impression. The smoked chicken skewers were outstanding--perfectly juicy with a subtle smokiness that enhanced the flavor well-seasoned, and cooked with care. I haven't even mentioned the colliflower which should be in a yelp review on its own. The pitas deserve just as much praise. Warm, pillowy, and slightly chewy with just the right amount of char, they were exceptional on their own and the perfect companion to the chicken. I'd love to know the recipe because they're easily some of the best pitas I've had. A special shoutout to our server, Daniel, who made our first--albeit brief--visit a memorable one. His friendly service and thoughtful recommendations elevated an already fantastic meal. A lovely restaurant with good service and a nice back patio. It got kind of chilly out and they brought out space heaters, so that was appreciated. I got the chicken shawarma and it was good! Chicken was nice and charred a little bit, pita was sooo soft and the sweet sauce they served with the dish was delish. I also really liked the peppers and pickles it came with. The food is SO good here. We came on a Saturday late afternoon and it wasn't too busy. They are known for the roasted cauliflower, which is a must get. The sauce is so good, with char flavour from the cauliflower and crunchiness from the pomegranate seeds. We also got a lil salatim platter to share with a choice of 3 dips (we chose hummus, baba ganoush and roasted pepper muhammara), which were all very good. Not one thing to fault with the food at Fat Pasha, besides maybe the slow service especially when the food is so good that you just want the pita flowing, one after the other. Speaking of service, it's also a rookie mistake when the staff mixes tap water with your glass that had some sparkling left to savor. Pita, soft! The mezze plater, delicious! But let's talk about the pickle-brined chicken - incredible and worth returning for over and over again. While at Casa Loma, my group and I decided to look for something nearby to grab dinner - and so we ended up at Fat Pasha. Based off the reviews, we were excited to check it out. The restaurant was near full when we walked in, but we were able to get seated right away (with our group of 5), which was nice. The ambiance was dim, warm and welcoming. We had a table in the corner by the window, facing the bar. Menus were provided. Our waiter informed us that dishes were served in sharing style. We took a bit of time to decide what we wanted to order - but we ended up getting a platter of 3 different dips to share (which came with pita) and 2 orders of chicken shawarma. Food was delicious- we all agreed that everything was good. The chicken was cooked to perfection, it was soft and tender and charred at the skin. We also ordered a round of beers and cocktails. I'd say - the food and drinks were good, but not worth the money if you're looking to get full. We weren't too pleased with the portion sizes - it definitely wasn't worth what we all paid for. Charming staff, delicious food, killer vibe. I took my youngest and my folks here for brunch this past weekend and had a great time. The lovely staff was patient with my slow-ordering dad and stepmom and they provided a lot of helpful input for my old man who is a vegan. The food was nothing short of spectacular and the new menu is even better than the last time I was here. I wish I had taken photos but I was too busy eating everything in site. The new shakshuka is delicious and the cauliflower is worth the hype. Our lovely server even introduced me to a fun new website for t-shirts. Walked in Saturday at opening. Apparently the entire restaurant was booked even the bar seats for the next 40 minutes. Without knowing what we would order in 40 min, rejected for not having a reservation. I don't like to say this, but as this restaurant is not currently listed on the Michelin guide, did not understand the severity of adopting the reservation-only mentality. It's a random day at 5pm in November, not a holiday season. Other small restaurants in larger cities internationally are more accommodating. The entire restaurant was empty because it was opening time and I'm sure the reservations were valid but they said in 40 min it would be busy. What if I was ordering drinks and light fare only? Went on a Thursday night for a nice dinner. We were lucky and found an 8:30 reservation when looking earlier that afternoon. Despite being there on time, we still had to wait a bit for a table. We also got the brisket and when it came I was nervous we had ordered too much. However it was so good we nearly argued over the last bite!! The brisket was fatty but soft and delicious. (3.5) We visited Fat Pasha on a weekend dinner service recently. Noted a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin guide, it was on our list of restaurants to visit in the city. A rather quiet and intimate restaurant located on Dupont in the Annex area of Toronto - The staff was attentive, well-educated on the menu and seemed to genuinely be invested in our experience. We ordered several house cocktails as well as a couple martinis throughout the meal. For the meal we had the Pickles N' Olives, Fat Salatim Platter and Za'atar Roasted Half Chicken. We wanted to order other dishes to the table but didn't want to compromise getting less of the Salatim Platter. The platter itself was a middle eastern food lover's dream. Eight small bowls filled with an assortment of middle eastern dips, oils, pickles, etc. accompanied with six falafels and pita bread, this likely could be a full meal for many. We were told the dips were made in house and they tasted like it; our favorite being the Chirshi (a squash puree with Tahini and pomegranate molasses). Next, we had the half chicken that came on a hot plate on a bed of warm shakshuka. Overall, the chicken was well cooked and seasoned well, but we thought was missing something. Fat Pasha is a restaurant that you should go to if you like middle eastern food. The menu -- albeit not super extensive -- has a great selection. However, it is quite expensive. For example: $34 for a whole head of cauliflower. Anyway, onto the food. Very good! We got a platter and the cauliflower as starters, then two plates. LOTS OF FOOD. The platter was a great way to try all of the dishes. I loved the squash one and the babaganoush. The pita was so nice and fluffy as well!! Super warm too!! The cauliflower was pretty good but definitely not worth $34 in my opinion. The two plates we're great but by the time it came out we were already quite stuffed. Brisket had great flavour but I actually preferred the mashed chickpeas. The seafood was amazing, but the latke was really really salty (maybe I just need to up my salt tolerance). We had no room for dessert, but if I were to go back I'd love to try the Israeli Cheesecake. The server lady was great, she did an amazing job at explaining what was on our plates and the menu as a whole. The restaurant itself is not the biggest, but it didn't get too loud or anything. A good time to come is 6pm. Would I go back? Maybe. Do I recommend? Yes, but I also think you can find great middle eastern restaurants elsewhere for more reasonable prices. 7.5/10 read more

My husband and I decided to try Fat Pasha because we had been reading about them. My husband loves to search for Sharwma close to what we had available in Germany, aka Doners/Lamachun. He had the Chicken Sharwma platter with the Halloumi that the kitchen had to eliminate from my cauliflower as I have a dairy allergy. My husband was trying to build his first pita to not overwhelm the chicken and said that was an error. When you build you pita, put in half of everything on the plate to get the full flavor profile. He did this with his second one and said that it was outstanding. My cauliflower was wonderful. It is not deep fried which was a bonus for me. When it looks like it is drenched in sauce, there is actually a perfect sauce to cauliflower ratio. Outstanding meal! I would highly recommend this to anyone in Toronto. Please note that the price is a little high for the appearance of the place, however, for the quality and quantity of the food, it is spot on for Toronto. Talking about the decor of Fat Pasha, there is something of an identity crisis between the menu and the decor. The menu is definitely influence by Jewish eats and Turkish eats. There are a few items that are Lebanese, but they are the minority on the menu. The mural on the wall indicates Egyptian, Turkish, Syrian, and maybe Persian influences. That is if I recognized all of the landmarks correctly. Seating is limited so I highly recommend a reservation. I just read this restaurant described as serving "hipster Jewish soul food" on some Canuck foodie's blog. Well, I just went to Israel for the first time last December, and I didn't recall that particular culinary style being offered anywhere in the Holy Land. Funny thing was that a friend of mine highly recommended Schmaltz Appetizing just around the corner from Fat Pasha. That's a more traditional Jewish appetizing store with bagels and smoked salmon. Then I found out both operations are owned by Andrew Rose, a prolific local restauranteur. The Jewish connection between the two finally made sense to me. A closer look at the concise menu showcases the strong Israeli influences on what struck me as otherwise new American dishes. But I already knew from the blogger that the dish to get was the C$27 Roast Cauliflower which struck me as steep until I saw it was a whole head roasted in the oven and topped with tahini, Yemeni skhug sauce, pomegranate seeds, pine nuts, and halloumi cheese (photo: http://bit.ly/2LF5FLe). This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city for Middle Eastern / Jewish cuisine. All the dishes I've tried are AMAZING - great flavours and portion sizes, ideal for sharing or dining with a group of friends. Grilled squid was slightly charred and tender. Latkes with pastrami salmon was very delectable, topped with caviar. Roasted cauliflower dish was the star of the show (I order it every time I come here). This dish was HUGE (sometimes almost as large as a human's head), and very flavourful with the tahini, pine nuts, and melted halloumi cheese. This is for takeout review. Honey fried chicken. It's one of my fav in the city. I'm glad it's still on the menu. The times I've ordered takeout it has been inconsistent. One time it was burnt. Today the side dish changed. This is the most drastic change to this dish in my 5 times ordering it. It came with couscous that has olives that doesn't go with the friend chicken!!! It doesn't matter if you gave me lots, it just doesn't go well with it!!! I'm used to this pickled veg with chickpea side that balances out the greasy taste not couscous that is absorbing it and those olives just adds salt to it all. Why? Falafel was great and we got three of the tips. The eggplant one and creamy garlic ones were the favs. Also tried the shakshuka. It was okay but I wanted more sauce and softer eggs with it. Really nice flavour but it felt like mostly big chunks of onion. Really wanted to try the cauliflower but apparently it was a whole head so it seemed like a bit much for just two of us. *3.5 stars* This is a review of pickup via Ambassador. First, they filled a last minute order at closing time really quickly, which I appreciate. Ambassador offered 745 and 800 as pickup times at 730 which surprised me but we were on our way home from a camping trip w a toddler and I wanted delicious and fast. The shawarma was oily and missing the pickles. The trio dip included only 2 of the 3 dips (missing the roasted tomato and harissa, so this was hummus and garlic sauces). The tomato salad was good and the pitas were hot and good. No one mentioned the missing items at pickup (again, this was right at close, so I get it, but I kind of live for the pickles in my shawarma so I was pretty disappointed to open up the packages at my dining table and see that they were missing. Her food pics are works of ART. Summary: Fat Pasha is a Middle Eastern & European Jewish restaurant. The food is decently good, but we appreciated the atmosphere the most. Fat Pasha's patio is a-ma-zing: it's spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. As for the food: of the three items we ordered (1. Roasted Cauliflower, 2. Salatim, 3. Lamb Shawarma), we were only impressed with the Lamb Shawarma. Dishes we tried: Cauliflower This one looks f*cking cool and is perfect for Instagram! But looks aren't everything. Although the cauliflower is prettily decorated with tahini, zhoug, pomegranate, and pine nuts, it still just ends up tasting like regular cauliflower. Salatim This dish is aesthetic but pricey, especially since we think the dips are only average at best. For almost $30, you get 6 dips (lentil, eggplant, pepper, beet, tahini, tomato), falafels, olives, pickles, and bread. It was highly recommended and it offered variety, but we were slightly disappointed in the end. Salatim is like your ex that seemed promising at the beginning (your friends lauded them, they were good-looking and seemingly had much to offer), but finally, you realized that their qualities were superficial and you spent too much time and money on them. Lamb Our favorite dish of the night! The dish's combination of ingredients is unique and delicious. The chunks of lamb are very tender and well seasoned. We found that the creamy, concentrated, and rich labneh (yogurt-cheese) complimented the lamb very well, and the sweet apricots also add an interesting layer of flavor to the savory dish. Conclusion: Google gives Fat Pasha a 4.3; we give a 3.5. Give Fat Pasha a visit if in the area and wanting to try innovative Middle Eatern/Jewish cuisine. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We didn't make a reservation and walked in on a Friday night but we were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar! Here's what we got: Daily Hummus - That day it came with hummus, pita and fried chicken. Wished it came with more pita though as we quickly finished the pita with more hummus to go through. The hummus was smooth and really creamy. Loaded Cauliflower - I didn't know cauliflower could taste so good. It came with a whole cauliflower doused with a variety of sauces and I was really digging the sweetness that was added from pomegranate​ seeds. I don't like cilantro so they server kindly provided the cilantro herb dressing on the side. Lion's Mane Mushroom - This was the veggie special of the day. I have heard of this through Tim Ferris' podcast and lion's mane being a substance in a tea that he enjoys but I've never had the mushroom itself. After a quick google image search of the cool looking mushroom and being huge fans of mushrooms in general, we decided to give it a go and it was really good! We had high expectations for this Mediterranean restaurant. As fans of Mediterranean food, we look for fresh ingredients and delicious seasoning. We ordered three dishes here, which we thought were too much for two people. Classic hummus 4/5: the best dish we had was definitely the hummus. Or hummus and roasted eggplant both came with bread. This hummus came with paprika that was actually smoked. Chopped egg plant 3.5/5: the chalked eggplant was an interesting dish, we didn't expect it to be as cold as it was. What we loved about the egg plant, like the hummus, was that it was nice and smoky. We must say, the egg plant could've had stronger seasoning. Roasted cauliflower 3/5: this was supposed to be the star of the restaurant. What we found however, was that the cauliflower was lacklustre in seasoning, but nice and smoky. The cauliflower came in a tahini sauce, and a green sauce composed of chilli and cilantro. Neither of the sauces really stood out, and instead made the cauliflower very heavy. The pomegranate seeds tasted great though. Overall, this dish was disappointing. Would we return to this restaurant? Probably not. Such a nice place for brunch! Been a couple of times on Sundays around 1pm and there was never a line and was seated right away. Service has always been good and attentive. Gotta get the dips/salatim platters, 3 for $18, its not the cheapest but is delicious. My favs are the garlic labneh (super garlic, creamy and cool I can eat a whole plate of this, probably the best labneh around!) red lentil spread (yellow in color but lots of spices and nice smooth bean texture) and the garlic fried tomatoes for some texture and freshness. Served with warm pitas, its satisfying and lots of flavors. The hummus with lamb kofta meatballs were good, but not as good as the platter. The roasted cauliflower is also on the pricier side almost $20 but is pretty good, lots of toppings, sauces and pomegranate, its quite the flavor and texture party. The falafel were crispy and bright green on the inside, really filling and perfectly made. Lastly the shakshuka, eggs poached in a tomatoy, red pepper, oniony stew.
