Heard good things about Miznon from a friend in Tel Aviv. Gave it a try on a weeknight and it wasn't very busy around 6:45. There were quite a few take-out orders however. We googled what a "Run-over potato" was and it sounded delicious! In the description, it said "... with crispy edges..." and we were looking forward to that. Unfortunately it did not come out crispy, but it was still yummy. We just imagined what it would be like if it were crispy. We also had the chicken in a pita and while the chicken was tasty, the pita was too soggy for our tastes. It made it quite messy (which we're ok with, just not into the soggy texture). The hummus and pita was one of the best my hubby has tasted outside of what he had in Tel Aviv. It was smooth and flavourful! The pitas were more of a fluffy pita and oh so good. Ordered food for takeout today at around 1pm in Yorkville. I have a few comments: 1. Menu items should be available or off the menu. The chicken livers were not available, and this is not a one time occurrence. 2. We paid $45 for one hummus bowl and one hummus bowl with mushrooms. That is beyond daylight robbery. I am in the hospitality industry and know this is just NO VALUE for my money. The ingredients, except for the mushrooms are cheap!! And the mushroom hummus came with much less hummus than the hummus bowl! 3. All, and I mean all, the kitchen cooks and attendants did NOT wear gloves and handled food in a way considered these day as unsanitary. 4. Last point: The food took too long to prepare. I counted at least 8 people working behind the counter, in the kitchen and wash up area. Not a great experience, although the food is good.....in the end. read more

Tried the chicken and schnitzel pita and they were both delicious. I would recommend the schnitzel however as I find the cabbage really helps balance out the meal. The chicken feels quite heavy since it doesn't have any vegetables and it is also a bit on the saltier side. The pita is perfect, very soft and fluffy. The potatoes were great as well, the tzatziki sauce was done very well with a nice dill flavor. In terms of ordering, you order and pay at the counter whenever you are ready. They will bring your food out to you. The service was quick and responsive. Overall great fresh and wholesome food. So far, I've had their Lamb Kebab Pita, Candy Steak Pita, and their Smoked Maple Steak Pita for takeout. At around $21 (plus tax), I found their Candy Steak Pita to be the best out of the three as their brisket was large, and their meat was quite tender. It was not candied like the name says, but it was good nonetheless. Lamb Kebab was probably my least favorite as the meat was not distributed well within the meat pocket and the kebab was fine. Overall, I can see myself craving this from time to time and I would love to try out their Chicken liver pita next. read more

You can't miss, however, the huge lunch line-up on most weekdays at noon. There's seating for about 20 in this shop, first-come, first-served. Seats are a precious commodity as the food is great: the hummus share plate is ambitiously named "The Best Hummus That You Will Ever Eat!" -- it was delicious, smooth and with interesting spices, but the true star of the dish was the included pita: warm, fluffy, toasty and rich with flavour. The lamb kebab (ground lamb, not chunks) in a pita was juicy with a nice tahini and spicy green sauce. My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed the candy steak (beef brisket) pita. This place has their social media campaign in full force as I saw them pop-up every now and then. I guess it works as I walk by regularly and saw sold out of food signs the first few days. Here is my experience. The place is more geared towards a quick meal or grab and go and their tables aren't designed for the way they serve food trays and small tables are never a good idea. This is the spot to go for slightly elevated Mediterranean food. They have a large menu. It's a self-serve restaurant where you order and pay at the counter. Then the servers will deliver the food to your table. Washrooms are on the ground floor and accessible. Prices are on the higher end for this style of food. We got the lamb kebab which was served with caramelized onion, tomato and pita on the side. Most of them mains also come with tahini sauce and a green kind of chutney. We also were accidentally served the smashed potatoes which turned out to be complementary since it was a mistake on the restaurant's part. We found the portions to be relatively small for the price and the taste was okay. Nothing outstanding. My bag of beans became bag of meat I didn't know till I got the receipt but whatever I didn't want to hold up the lineup and I'll tried something new. New customers miss the paper menu at the door and at the cash. They are looking around for a menu board. This place is too chaotic for me. Not much of a waiting area for takeout. I don't mind the organized mess at Chelsea market, their system works in a bigger space. Guess it's still new so they need to tweak things in TO or when at capacity the place is busy enough to make it uncomfortable for patrons to make it a quicker turnover? After having one of their fantastic sandwiches in Chelsea market, New York, I was so bummed that I'd only be able to eat there on my New York trips. I was thrilled to see they opened one a 10 min drive from me. Same menu, same great service, with the tomato's on the tables. I ordered the hummus to start. It's probably the best hummus I've ever had with that amazing warm soft pita. I ended up taking most of it home since my sandwich showed up shortly after. Considering there were only 4 tables with people (including me by myself) it was very loud inside. It's essentially fast food (you go up to the counter to order, and then go sit at your table for your number to be called or they will drop the food off at the table). It was $22 for a solo burger with tax and tip. Quite pricey. The pita was fluffy and tasted good. I loved the garlic aioli on the burger. The patty was juice, and inside the pita was quite cheesy. I liked the burnt cheese on the edge - a feature of the fold over burger. It hangs out of the pita though, and is super salty. To me, it was somewhat of a gimmick and I would prefer a better pita to burger/cheese ratio. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not rushing to go back. read more

Great spot for a casual , quick bite. The pita looks small for $15-$17 but it's really filling. The lamb kebab is nicely grilled and juicy. Flavour is on point and the grilled onions pairs really well with it. The ratatouille tastes homey with nice herbs. The hummus is made fresh every morning and sold until it's gone. It's so smooth and creamy not like grocery store hummus. BUT it is bit pricy at $18 but it's worth trying. It comes with warm pita and it was delicious. I got the ratatouille pita and bag of golden meat for $40 including tax. The pita was pretty good with a hint of spicy. I honestly couldn't finish it because it was quite big. The bag of golden meat is pulled brisket roasted overnight. Although it was tasty, it was a little salty to me and the portion was quite small. As a big fan of shawarma, I was excited to check out a new spot that was opening in my neighborhood. It was extremely busy when we entered and has a very bustling vibe and energy to it. That may be something you are looking for, but we were lucky to get a table at the bar and it was just a bit too chaotic for my liking. Overall the food was good but certainly expensive. We got the lamb, chicken and Cauliflower (wrap). I would not recommend the cauliflower, it was cold and looked almost like baby food which was unappealing. The chicken was good, but I agree with a previous review that said it was dry, it certainly needed a sauce to complement it, otherwise it would have been awesome, so maybe ask if you can get some on the side. The lamb was my favorite and tasted really good, would recommend. I second the review that the person making the sandwich had no gloves on, and also was feeding themselves and other staff members by hand while working the station. That as very off putting and something I really think the business should address since this is an open kitchen and you can see everything. Staff was fine, but I received my food a good 15 minutes after my partner did and within ten minutes of eating and before I was finished half of my food, a server came by and asked if they can take my tray away which had all of my napkins on it. I politely said no, it wasn't that big of a deal, but it was just a weird move. Overall, I would maybe come back to try some of the other items on the menu because it did taste pretty good, but it is very expensive in my opinion for what's essentially an upscale shawarma spot. read more

Everything we have eaten has been unbelievably good! I always takeout! Staff are incredibly nice & patient! For me, the high quality is worth the price! I am thrilled also that it is so easy to have spicy put on the side in a small container-delicious but my husband does not eat spicy...I like the speed of service & the ability to bring home something easy to eat, when I don't have time to cook or grocery shop! We have been waiting patiently for this place to open and poof. It's open. We tried it out last night. Walk in the front door and it seems like complete chaos. People everywhere, paper menus, order first at one of the registers, then pray for a table to open up. Usually I leave right away. As chaotic as my first impression was the system worked. We got a table for four, food was delivered to our table. The food runners and staff are as energetic as the buzz in the room and we had a great, meal and time. All of us liked our food and we tried a lot: hummus, spicy fish, folded burger, fish and chips, mushrooms and the minute steak. All great. Can't wait to go back. Very disappointing. Been to the one in NYC before but of course, when any restaurant opens another location in Toronto they see it as an opportunity to price gauge. Waited in line for 25 minutes and paid $23 for a steak pita. The pita was tiny with about 2 small pieces of steak in it. It tasted okay but really lacked any interesting spicing or flavor that I am used to with Israeli food. Also, the guy assembling the pitas was not wearing any gloves and was barehanding ingredients to shove into the pita. Some people in the kitchen were wearing gloves, but of course the one guy you want to be wearing them, was not. Gloves should not be optional at a pita spot. Overall it was a bad experience and we ended going to another place after to get additional food as the pita was not nearly enough to call a meal.
