"The Best Hummus That You Will Ever Eat!"
Gordon C.

It's easy to miss this casual restaurant while walking down Bay Street, the sign is unpretentious and it's next to a Pet Valu. You can't miss, however, the huge lunch line-up on most weekdays at noon. There's seating for about 20 in this shop, first-come, first-served. Seats are a precious commodity as the food is great: the hummus share plate is ambitiously named "The Best Hummus That You Will Ever Eat!" -- it was delicious, smooth and with interesting spices, but the true star of the dish was the included pita: warm, fluffy, toasty and rich with flavour. The lamb kebab (ground lamb, not chunks) in a pita was juicy with a nice tahini and spicy green sauce. My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed the candy steak (beef brisket) pita. A great hidden gem in the Bay/Bloor area, and now a staple in our lunch rotation.

the lamb was spiced well and tasted great, but having just one hunk of cylindrical lamb in the pita was a bit odd. there was also a bit too much sauce and the pita wasn't structured enough so it got soggy quick. wish there was a bit more tomato in the pita too, and maybe some pickled turnip? service was pretty casual quick -serve which I appreciate. ambiance is a bit loud but laid back

This place has their social media campaign in full force as I saw them pop-up every now and then. I guess it works as I walk by regularly and saw sold out of food signs the first few days. Here is my experience. The place is more geared towards a quick meal or grab and go and their tables aren't designed for the way they serve food trays and small tables are never a good idea. Here is a play by play Hummus was very good but is priced bizarrely high Cauliflower decent and could be shared by two Chicken pita I didn't try but the feedback wasn't good as was apparently very dry Ratatouille decent though I guess I enjoyed it more as I have been enjoying eggplants more lately Priced at a proper dine in place the value proposition is out so a 3 stars

This is the spot to go for slightly elevated Mediterranean food. They have a large menu. It's a self-serve restaurant where you order and pay at the counter. Then the servers will deliver the food to your table. Washrooms are on the ground floor and accessible. Prices are on the higher end for this style of food. We got the lamb kebab which was served with caramelized onion, tomato and pita on the side. Most of them mains also come with tahini sauce and a green kind of chutney. We also were accidentally served the smashed potatoes which turned out to be complementary since it was a mistake on the restaurant's part. We found the portions to be relatively small for the price and the taste was okay. Nothing outstanding. Service is okay here and you can see the chef's preparing the food since it's an open kitchen style. It's an okay spot if you want to go to a Mediterranean restaurant for a date night.

Front seating area. Difficult to snag a table for 4+ if you're not the patient type.

I miss Miznon NYC so I'm happy they opened in Toronto Honestly my usual order lamb kebab pita is good but not as good as NYC. A bit too salty for me. My bag of beans became bag of meat I didn't know till I got the receipt but whatever I didn't want to hold up the lineup and I'll tried something new. New customers miss the paper menu at the door and at the cash. They are looking around for a menu board. This place is too chaotic for me. Not much of a waiting area for takeout. I don't mind the organized mess at Chelsea market, their system works in a bigger space. Guess it's still new so they need to tweak things in TO or when at capacity the place is busy enough to make it uncomfortable for patrons to make it a quicker turnover? Not a place to chill, quick bite and go. Frankly I'm happy that I got mine to go. Always a messy meal at Miznon. They gave a lot of napkins and I needed it. It does feel expensive but i can't tell if it's overall inflation. $17.50 for lamb kebab and $19 for the bag of meats. Not something I would have regularly

Came to visit and I had to stop here .. food is as good as I remembered and I have only few remarks: I got steak in pita - the steak was good however the pita was filled (!) with the sauce to the level that you see liquid inside which of course spilled all over when eating. Not sure that this was the intention- I think it was bit too much. The other remark is about the pita which is personal preference- this for me was too soft pita and almost tasted as not done enough It a matter of liking as my daughter loved it. All together - great eat.

Food is so delicious! Best hummus I ever had. Pitas are so fluffy and yummy. Service is fast enough and the atmosphere inside is very cozy.

Wow thank you blogto for bringing awareness of this place. This is hands down one of the best folded cheeseburgers ive had in toronto. High quality ingredients and the pita was so soft and fresh... it was so delicious. The cheese was crispy on the outside and melty oozy on the inside. I will definitely go back and try other items. What a gem in yorkville with price point being reasonable

It's good. The food is unique. An innovative and eccentric take on Israeli food. I liked it a lot but didn't love any of it. Maybe I'm just being a picky twat but I prefer the hummus from Parallel and the chicken from a number of other Middle Eastern joints. The Candy Steak is straight up bonkers tho. Can't recommend trying that enough.

Pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon but managed to get a table. Service seemed a bit disorganized but wasn't a huge deal. I ordered the minute steak pita which came to about $21. This was such an underwhelming pita -- no flavour at all, fatty pieces, barely any spicy sauce, soggy tomato, dripping in oil, soggy pita. Absolutely not worth it at all. Hoping if I try a different pita it'll be better.

We've always wanted to try Miznon whenever in New York but never had a chance. We were super excited to see them open up a location in Toronto! We ordered a few things for dine in and everything was good: - Folded cheeseburger - the pita was so soft and plush, this was tasty - Run over potato - can't go wrong with potatoes and dill - Cold garlic green beans - a lovely side to balance off the heaviness of the rest of the meal We also ordered their hummus to go - it was very flavourful and came with the delicious pita. We came on a Saturday just before noon and there were still quite a number of tables available. It definitely got a lot busier after 12pm. Not a spot you would hang around for a while if on weekends given how busy they are and the set up of the place. Would definitely come back off peak hours!

Great spot for a casual , quick bite. The pita looks small for $15-$17 but it's really filling. The lamb kebab is nicely grilled and juicy. Flavour is on point and the grilled onions pairs really well with it. The ratatouille tastes homey with nice herbs. The hummus is made fresh every morning and sold until it's gone. It's so smooth and creamy not like grocery store hummus. BUT it is bit pricy at $18 but it's worth trying. It comes with warm pita and it was delicious. I definitely want to come back again and try the falafel.

Creamy fresh hummus and the BEST pitas ever!

Byblos - Chocolate Olive Oil Cake

Byblos

Entertainment District, Downtown Core

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Food: We had our office holiday dinner here and 15 people attended. We did a set menu which had 3 courses. The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

There's always something going on in the area, so it makes it a lively place to grab food, especially at night. I went around 10 PM last night and it was packed. The ambience is pretty basic, it's a small joint with a few tables and chairs, nothing fancy. It's clean and organized, but you can't really expect some super aesthetic interior considering the location and the constant flow of people. There's limited seating, just enough for a few groups, so it definitely feels more like a takeout spot than somewhere you'd sit and hang out for a long time. They get a lot of customers, so you can expect a bit of a wait, but honestly the service was impressively fast. We waited maybe 5-10 minutes max for our food. We got it to go, and everything was ready quickly and handled efficiently. The main star of the show was the chicken shawarma wrap. It was delicious, crispy, flavourful, and packed with everything we asked for. The sauce was so good and really brought everything together. I definitely recommend adding the pomegranate molasses. It adds such a nice sweet tangy flavour and makes the wrap even better. Overall, it was a really good experience. Fast service, solid food, and a fun location right in the middle of the action. I'd definitely go back.

We had done a ton of walking and wanted a snack and a drink with a chance to rest the feet. One of the people we spoke to up the street claimed to love the place so here we are. The shawarma meat is bland and a bit boring. We tried to punch it up when we got it, but it's not the same. Don't get me wrong, it's still good food and will fill that empty spot in yer gut. I was just hoping for a juicier sandwich, instead we end up on the dry side. The cost is reasonable. The servers we spoke with were okay. Nothing exciting. In comparison to all our other meals this place fails. It's decent food at a decent price that deserves your attention. Especially if you're looking for a quick fix on the run. 11/25

The menu has appetizers, wraps, plates, platters as well as sides for you to choose from. You can also customize your wraps and have it Arabic style or have everything included; you are also able to choose the level of spiciness you want as well. I've heard many good things about Alpha's Shawarma and have never tried them until recently. Stepping into Alpha's Shawarma you are greeted by a long counter filled with ingredients as well as their shawarma meats which are on a vertical rotating spit. The cashier is towards the middle of the restaurant where there is quite a bit of seating at the back to enjoy your purchased items. There is also a small display of desserts as well next to the cashier. I opted to get a chicken shawarma saj with all the toppings (garlic sauce, hummus, pickles, turnips, onion & parsley, lettuce, tomato, tahini, and pomegranate molasses). I picked a table while waiting for my wrap to be made which took about less than 5 min. Service was friendly and they called out my order number on the loud speaker where I grabbed my wrap. The staff asked me if I wanted extra garlic sauce which I replied "yes!" where they placed more garlic sauce on my wrap. Sitting down, I took a nice bite out of my chicken shawarma. It was delicious - the chicken was moist and tender and the ingredients worked well together. Next time I do want to try the wrap with only Arabic toppings (garlic sauce, pickles, fries, and pomegranate molasses). However, I enjoyed all the toppings on my shawarma wrap which was also nicely toasted. The portion of the wrap was pretty big and I was full after I finished the whole thing. The garlic sauce was great - it was creamy and full of garlic flavour but not too overpowering. Overall, friendly service and a great place for shawarma near the Yonge-Dundas area. I totally understand why everyone's been talking about how delicious Alpha's Shawarma is!
