Had a great time at this specific paramount location. The ambiance and service were nice. All the food was fresh to order. I highly recommend the cheese and zatar manakeesh for those who haven't had zatar before. The cheese helps balance out the flavor of the zatar. The biggest draw for me to this place is the freshly made pita bread that comes to the table hot and puffed up in a round white ball. It's delicious on it's own, but would go so well with any dip. We had the mixed grill, the tabbouleh and the Zaatar Manakeesh. The tabbouleh as great, as I love the fresh brightness of the parsley and mint. The manakeesh was lacking both flavor and salt, even though it looked really good. The mixed grill was okay, I liked the garlic sauce it came with the meat itself was nothing special. I used to like the food here a few years back, and would eat here regularly when I was in the downtown core, and couldn't think of a place to eat. However, I recently went back for the first time after being away from the city for a few years, and no longer feel the same about this place. The food quality and taste did not seem to be the same. The fries weren't warm or that crispy that day, and the chicken was very dry. The service also wasn't as great during this visit. I'm not sure if it was because I was sitting by the windows at the front and they don't pay as much attention to customers there, or the staff was just bad. Waiting to have my order taken, and for the food to arrive took a long time even though they weren't that busy. When I finished my meal, our server was no where to be seen (probably on break) so we asked another person for the bill. The girl acknowledged it, but never brought it, even though she looked at our table a few times, and we couldn't ask someone else because no other servers came by the area. My wife and I went to Paramount before heading into Mirvish theater production. Location is great because it's just outside and a 32 second walk to the theater. We did reservation, but we were seated within about 10 minutes. We shared an appetizer which were three different types of hummus. Each were delicious and very different. One was a garlic one was red pepper, and one was more traditional. For dinner, we shared an entrée consisting of beef and chicken and lamb, which was served with rice and a few vegetables Again, this was delicious. I went here around closing time hoping to get takeout. Ordered Shish Twaok with rice. I waited and when the order came she told me they ran out of rice and were giving me fries as a substitute. Paramount's Fine Food has grown over the years from a Lebanese restaurant to be quite a sprawling empire that's also laid claim to the Raptors905 home venue. Their CEO has even been campaigning for Kawhi to stay with the Toronto Raptors. So what's the secret to Paramount's success? I came to find out. The downtown location is situated conveniently across from the Eaton Centre. We came here for a lunch and was happy to find that they recently renovated to be more spacious and brighter inside. Their menu is filled with delicious traditional Middle Eastern dishes that I'd never even heard of. Fortunately some of the others who came with me were regulars and knew what to order! Friendly waitresses were attentive about taking our orders, returning with water/beverage and a steady flow of appetizers and mains. The pita bread was fluffy and warm. We had the Mixed Combo Platter: skewers (kafta, shish tawouk, beef tenderloin), shawarma (chicken, beef) and falafel balls. The six skewers were tender and juicy, while the shawarma were flavourful though a bit dry. The falafel balls were decent with the tahini and garlic dipping sauces. The platter along with rice and side dishes were enough to fill our group of six. The waitress was even kind enough to treat us to baklava for dessert. I was pleasantly surprised when the Wicked chicken sandwich came with a free side of fries. The spicy level sandwich was very hot, similar to a Nashville chicken sandwich. There was also an inferno level, which much be excruciating spicy. The chicken was tender, crunchy, and white meat topped with pickles and their signature Nashville hot sauce between a golden bun. When I approached the girl in the front first thing comes out of her mouth is we have service fee I am like okay I am aware of it because it's a norm for lots of restaurants to add service fee with party of 6 or more but she said it like we came to get free food. I'd never choose Paramount outside of the Downtown Core, but when you've finished a long day of work and want to satisfy your craving for middle eastern food, Paramount will do the job, though it won't blow you away. To be honest if I review them when I first got to Toronto a few years back, this review will be five star. Over the years their food just didn't taste as superb. Their meat is drier, almost jerky. What stays the same is their puffy bread and hummus (you have to pay extra for hummus). The dry meat is a turn off and I rarely go back to the place unless I need to watch a musical at that theatre. In those cases I usually opt for salad plus chicken or something (yes their meat turn me off so much that force a carnivore to order a salad!) We finished our meal with arabic coffee and baklava. Shawarma: tasty- it is not burdened with fillings, so its easy to eat. The sauces are delicious and the wrap is filling. The fries were crispy and made fresh. I could not finish everything and took the remainder to go. Baklava: FRESH! Yum. Perfect way to end a meal and they have many options to choose from. Coffee: Did you know that coffee is free for guests at Paramount? Just ask your server. I can't say no to arabic or turkish coffee after a satisfying meal. We like this location of Paramount and have ordered twice from here. Both times, the food is consistently good and reasonable. Both times we ordered falafel sandwich and chicken shawarma sandwich. I'm not sure if it's the location of the place being in the heart of downtown Toronto, but the prices were absurdly high for the portion and quality of food. We ordered the chicken shawarma, truffle mushroom pizza, and spicy potatoes on a side. The chicken was pretty dry, the garlic sauce was gross due to its gelatin like texture and lack of flavour, but the rice was the saving grace of this dish. It was ~$17 or so for this dish! Super small portion too. The spicy potatoes side was not appetizing either. It was deep fried but not crispy or hot, and the sauce on the potatoes had no flavour, very bland tasting. I would not recommend these. The truffle mushroom pizza however was pretty good. It had a strong umami flavour and tasted quite nice in contrast with the other dishes. It was decently priced as well at around $11. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place due to its high prices, portion size, and taste / quality of the food. read more

While keeping in mind that this is a franchise/chain restaurant/whatever you want to call it, Paramount will easily satisfy your shawarma fix. I'm not much of a meat/poultry person, but I decided to order their chicken shawarma plate. Their chicken was so tender and juicy, and not overly salty either. Fries that came with the dish were decent (you only get to pick one side). I just wish they gave you a bit more variety of everything, or at least the option to pick more than one side (similar to the takeaway location in First Canadian Place). Their baklava is delicious too - definitely worth it if you have a sweet tooth. What slightly turned me off was the service at the beginning - we were waiting to be seated at the "please wait here to be seated" sign, and a rude employee snarkily asks if we were waiting for something. Came to Paramount last Sunday for some brunch. I'll be honest, it wasn't our first choice but so many of the "conventional" brunch/breakfast places had hour-long lineups. Given our love for middle eastern food, we thought why not see if they have any breakfast items. The interior has been renovated and it looked really nice and bright. We were seated not too far from the entrance, but it didn't bother us when people were coming in and out of the restaurant. We had a really nice waitress who let us in on some of the breakfast/brunch items that are not yet on the menu. We were hungry, so I think we went a bit overboard with everything we ordered. You'll have to see for yourself when you see the pictures, but we were only two people and we nearly finished it all. We had foul mudammas, labneh (pressed yogurt) with zaatar (thyme), yogurt fatteh (not sure how to describe it, but chickpea yogurty goodness), as well as a cheese manaeesh and a zaatar manaeesh (aka thin dough pizzas). If you ask for veggies on the side, they will give you tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled turnips and onions on the side. Honestly, I am SO happy we ended up coming here. The food was delicious and so was the service. You should also definitely try the strawberry and mango juice they serve, so good! I would most definitely come back. read more

Went back to paramount after a long time! And it was great. We were greeted as soon as we got there and seated right away by a lovely lady. They have done some renovations so the space is bright and nice. However the tables are so close to each other and it feels a bit cramped, making it really hard to move in between tables. For food, our waitress was the only one in the section and she was running around like crazy, as it was quite busy, poor woman! She took a while to get to us for taking our order. The complimentary pita bread also took a while. However when it came, it was amazing as always. Fresh and hot. We ordered the mezza plate, falafels, chicken and beef plate and fattoush salad. Everything was excellent. Their baba Ghanoush is my absolute favourite. For dessert we had the Kunefe, ooohhhhh soooooo delicious!! Our service was a little slow but great nevertheless. This Paramount is pretty decent one in a very central location downtown. A very safe option for Middle Eastern food and I don't think you can go wrong coming here. I've had a very neutral view of Paramount as whole; I was never super impressed by them but have to say this location is one of the better ones I have tried. We went with the mixed chicken and beef shawarma with half rice and fries, as well as their fatoush salad. We also added a shish tawouk skewer to the salad when the waitress touted their charcoal grills. The shawarma plate was great. Their complimentary pita was warm and baked fresh with garlic sauce and tahini. Both the chicken and beef weren't dry and the place comes nicely presented on a half pita and pickled vegetables. The rice was great, it was very smooth and herby. Highly recommend it, but if you can't choose between the sides, you can just get half-half. The salad was also pretty good with various greens and veggies topped with crispy pita and pomegranate! Their salad dressing was very mild in a good way, slightly citrus-y, and the shish tawouk skewer was fairly juicy and nicely grilled. I'm a fan of Paramount Fine Foods. I've only visited this location but I've been there twice and both times the food was superb. The service is ok, with waiters being slightly awkward but polite. The vibe is friendly Lebanese, with some subtle Arabic music in the background and nice decor upstairs (I like the high ceiling and vibes). The prices aren't cheap but the food holds up. On to the food: their hummus with lahme (meat) is delicious and a good portion for 3 people to share as an appetizer. The second you place your order, they bring 2 freshly baked, inflated pitas to your table. Love this! Pairs perfectly with the hummus. For our mains, we got one lamb kebab sandwich, one shish taouk sandwich (pieces of tender chicken breast) and I ordered the shawarma (beef) saj, which is a very thin crepe-like bread rolled around tender and succulent shawarma. The fries were cold, even though the sandwich was still mildly warm, so I'm not going to blame that it was delivery. The sandwich was way too salty and had too much mayonnaise to enjoy unfortunately. I liked the bun, at least the parts that weren't soaked in mayonnaise or grease from the chicken. The mild Nashville sauce was too salty, and mild had no heat at all.
