Everything else was horribly over cooked. The crab puffs were brown and chewy. The egg rolls were super greasy, extra dark, and full of mushy veggies. The chicken fried rice was barely edible - I picked out the chicken and broccoli, but the rice was pure mush. The orange chicken was ok, and the steamed rice wasn't horribly over cooked. Dragon Palace is located in a deserted looking strip mall in the corner. The first time we tried to come here we thought it was closed because it did not appear to have life. But pleasantly we've come back a few times now. The prices are good, the food is generous and the meals all come with the works! The service is excellent and the food comes to your table fast and hot! They have been there for over 20 years and always seem to have a lot of people who are frequent visitors. Dragon Palace is a bit of a drive from my house, but it is still our go to Chinese restaurant for both dine and and take out. After moving to Arizona I was sad to learn that the Chinese food here pretty much sucks since it's so Americanized and the quality of the meat is so poor. Dragon Palace is the only exception that we've found after trying loads. The prices are also very reasonable (much less than the Jade Palace by our house, and the food is better too!). The thing that impresses me the most is that the meat is perfect, always. No weird "what kind of meat is this rubber slab supposed to be?", "is this really chicken, if so what part?" questions are being asked. It also reheats really nicely which is great since they give you fairly large portions. Some of our favorites include the house special beef and chicken, pork fried rice, mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork and shrimp chow mien. They also give you loads of those almond cookies which is always a plus in my book! read more

Shrimp fried rice with old overcooked shrimp and seasonless rice. They didn't offer a refund but said he could come in for a new order. So he's going to drive back there now. Not gonna lie... I almost judged the book by its cover walking up to this place. Upon opening the door however what I encountered was beautiful decor, and an immediate friendly greeting. The service here is incredible, they checked on our drinks every 3-4 minutes. The food came put quickly.. in about 10 minutes and it was a great value for the quantity. I had sweet and sour chicken, it came out crispy and delicious. I cant say enough about the staff, they were awesome, all the different servers treated our table as their own and routinely checked on us. My girlfriend and her mom had the chicken chow mein they said it was delicious. Their fried rice is also top notch. If youre in the area and have a hankering for chinese food I definitely recommend swinging by... dont be scared away by the looks of the old dilapidated plaza its in.. this is a diamond in the rough. read more

Very good. Just moved to the area and found this place on yelp. Had the best reviews out of all Chinese restaurants in the area so gave it a try for Christmas Eve dinner. Got orders to go of the crispy duck, Kung pao two (chicken and shrimp), garlic chicken, egg drop soup, and crab puffs. The crab puffs were nice and stuff full. The kung pao and garlic bursting with flavor. The duck was a little plain and dry but some parts nice and moist. The egg drop soup was amazing! It wasn't part of the original order but waiting to pick up food, saw a lot of people ordering it and one lady said it was great as she loaded up three tupperwares of it. I have only ever done take out, but the take out process has been very easy and prompt. The dinner meals for 2+ are a great deal. So much delicious food for about the same price as one entree. This is my last visit to Dragon Palace. Let me explain. I decided to do take out and have it delivered by DoorDash. I ordered the chicken with mushrooms ( which I think is really good), Moo goo gai pan (with extra white meat which costs and extra dollar) easy on the veggies, egg rolls and two small won ton soups. Easy enough. DoorDash delivered my complete order within 35 minutes. Hot and almost ready to eat or so I thought. Both soups had leaked. The lids were cracked which was probably the drivers fault but the moo goo gai pan was not prepared as ordered. We called back and spoke to someone at the restaurant and they agreed to replace the soups and I would have to pick them up which I wasn't happy about but ok however the other order they said we would have to pay for again. Needless to say I was furious. I would have come to pick up the food but not pay 10 again for something in my opinion lacks flavor. I won't be returning here. Food C+, Customer service. My favorites were the egg rolls and the fried shrimp! Finally, a restaurant that serves delicious egg rolls - crispy, full of veg and meat and wrapped well in its skin; not oily! Lunch here today after reading all the 4 and 5 star ratings. Not impressed! Sesame chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork. Chicken was just OK and Pork dish was way over cooked! Disappointing The menu was the standard oriental fare. The entrees were delivered quickly and at the proper temperatures. We did not find any "must try" dishes on the menu or on the list of in house specials. The service was good, the food however, was not good. On our First visit we had the, chicken chow mein, lemon chicken, fried rice, eggrolls, and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was tasty, served piping hot and had a nice flavor. However, the chicken chow mein, lemon chicken, and eggrolls were not as expected. The coating on the lemon chicken was crunchy but the chicken was very dry and chewy not moist at all, as was the chicken in the chow mein. The eggrolls were just okay, not memorable, and the steamed rice was somewhat on the cold side and lacked any flavor. The meal just wasnt very good. Maybe, I went on an off day. I can't believe I never knew this gem was here! After 13 years in the neighborhood! I found Dragon Palace on Yelp and ordered take out for my sick husband. Sizzling rice soup with hot mustard always does the trick when you have a cold or flu. Although the inside is dark and outdated, the smell as you walk in the door let's you know this place is amazing! Truly the best Chinese food in the valley! This is my go-to Chinese place in north Phoenix near the 51 and Thunderbird. Many places are around me, but this is always good. Always! They are serious about providing food quickly and perfectly prepared. I judge Chinese food authenticity by whether the place makes Moo Shu Pork. This place makes it perfectly. The chicken was so rubbery it was not even edible , the beef had some flavor and some piece were ok but others were rubbery . The fried rice was blah . $40 and honestly Panda Express would have been cheaper and better . So sad . The one star is for how awesome they packed the food , it was double wrapped !! read more

What a nice little "gem of a restaurant" to answer our craving for Asian food! Thanks Yelpers!!! The food and service at this place are China-licious! The prices are just $, a bargain! The Dragon Palace is tucked away in the corner of an older strip center on the east side of N 32rd just north of E Thunderbird. It looks like it's been here for years, and I mean a lot of years... But don't let deter you from trying the Dragon Palace! Restaurant~ the decor is old. It's is a thrown back into the late seventies and early eighties with huge red vinyl booths with the high backs. The walls are solid blue (I guess as a contrast maybe?) with some Asian inspired borders and prints. They have those old Asian lamps hanging for the ceiling. Although this place is a through back into time of another era, the place is very clean and comfy. Service~ excellent from when you enter their restaurant until you leave. 5 star service. Food~ all of their lunch meals come with water and hot tea, complimentary. They also offer the usual beverage choices if you so desire something else. The hot tea was very good! Their menu is also a through back to old Asian restaurants I used to go to when I was a kid. I remember when mom would say "we are going to go and eat Chinese" and I would say "mom, we're not cannibals do you mean Asian or Chinese food?" After a slap on the back of the head we were off ~ ready to get stuffed since they always brought you way too much food. All of their lunch meals here at the Dragon Palace come with a very tasty bowl of egg drop soup (thick and tasty!), wontons, egg roles, rice is fried or steamed and the main entree. We had their Beef with Broccoli and their Mongolian Beef. Both dishes were China-licious!! Our entire meal was less than $20 with the tip! I think I have found my favorite Chinese restaurant in Phoenix! Dragon Palace is everything I think of when it comes to Chinese food. The restaurant is full of traditional decorations and of course those large red booths. (They have tables too). Soft Chinese music playing in the background and some artwork. Let's move on to the food...Dragon Palace has Mandarin and Szechuan dishes. The food is so good that I came in two weeks in a row. We started with fried meat dumplings and crab puffs. Oh both are delicious and served with sweet and sour and hot chili sauces. We also had sizzling rice soup. One of the best Chinese soups I have ever had with chicken, shrimp and veggies. They also bring out complimentary fried wonton strips with dipping sauce to every table. For dinner we had house special chicken which is lightly fried chicken breast sautéed in "special sauce". I don't know what this special sauce is, but I would drink it if I could. Yummy! We also tried the sautéed happy family which is chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops and Chinese veggies all together covered in a brown sauce. Delicious! The brown sauce has a great flavor and is slightly sweet. They also don't skimp on any of the meat or seafood. I was impressed! We did not try dessert, but they bring out complimentary banana wontons covered in honey with the check. Oh these are good!! Can I have more than one please!? Another thing to mention is the full bar. When I go out for Chinese food I never think of ordering a cocktail. Dragon Palace had a pretty impressive cocktail menu. Found their standard family owned and operated restaurant decor to be charming. Not your franchised Asian Fusion decor which was just fine with us. We came for the food. The food was very very good and more than substantial on portions. Had extra to box up and take back to hotel. Saw a bunch of locals dining here so that's always a great sign.
